Chapter 33

It was universal knowledge that majority of the Dragonesians grew up to be evil. They were cruel, barbarous, brutal, ruthless, oppressive and followers of dictatorship. Each and every generation of Dragonesian made sure to bring up their descendants, just the way they were brought up. There were, of course, exceptions, namely Leon Heirora. However, it was clear till now that Leon genetically differed from other Dragonesians. It was a given fact and as much as Alana, who was the only one to make an assumption, being knowledgeable about Dragonesians, wanted to find out about this mystery, she did not have the time. Time was ticking away. Time waited for none.

Even humans were cruel. But how heartless could a mother be to devour her own child? How crude could she be to kill that innocent being? How callous could a Dragonesian be to boast about murdering another life?

Alana refused to believe that Dragonesians could go to such an extent to quench their hunger. Perhaps not all Dragonesians were like this woman, in front of her. But at the moment, each and every fact was unbelievable.

They were aware that the woman, even though old and shabby, was physically stronger than the three of them. Leon's dragon form alone would not be able to stop the woman's wrath. If she burst, it would cause havoc.

A mayhem. For, this very Dragonesian belonged to the Devil Class.

"Perhaps you are correct," Cynthia spoke abruptly, "You should really kill Leon. He is petty, I agree."

Three pairs of eyes consisting of incredulity fell upon the sixteen-year-old.

"What are—" Lucian's utterance was cut off by Cynthia's side long glance.

"You are a proud Dragonesian of the Devil Class," the girl continued while inching closer towards the woman who had her full attention on Cynthia now, "It would take a second to crush him under your feet."

Alana, who was closely watching the unusual movements of Cynthia's fingers, was quick to pick on her intentions. The young girl was buying time by doing what she was best at and thus, lending Alana and Lucian the opportunity to take Leon out of the shack-house.

Persuasion.

Cynthia was the master of persuading people, whether they were humans or Dragonesians.

"Go ahead, kill him. He is the Dragonesian Crown Prince but that—"

"He is the Dragonesian Crown Prince?" The woman's eyes widened with sheer shock. Cynthia smirked internally, thinking that her plan was progressing on a smooth track.

It was fortunate enough for them that the light was dimmer inside the shack-house. It only put Leon to advantage, as he was helped by Alana and Lucian to move as far as possible from the woman.

Cynthia motioned her fingers towards the closed door as she conveyed the message to take Leon out. It was dangerous for her alone to continue her act while they escaped, but they had to do it anyway. Alana and Lucian made a mental note synonymously to come and get Cynthia out right after.

With very slow steps, Leon, Alana, and Lucian stepped backwards. More, more and more till their backs hit the door.

The old age of the Dragonesian woman had weakened her eyesight it seemed, as well, which put to their advantage.

"Of course he is, did you not see his crimson eyes?" Cynthia commenced, "The Dragonesian King's youngest son is none other than him, Leon Heirora."

The Dragonesian woman appeared to be visibly shaken by the new information. Her eyes lingered on the sixteen-year-old girl's face with deep wonder. She seemed to be in a state of absolute disbelief, yet Cynthia's unflappable demeanour was enough to question her own inquiries of doubt. The Dragonesian woman was so immersed in Cynthia's utterances that she failed to notice certain people moving out of her grasp.

"What would you do, if the King were to execute you? Leon is his precious son and the future heir to the throne, at the end of the day," Cynthia went on with her persuasion tactics.

"I will regain my strength with that Dragonesian's royal blood," the woman hissed, licking the string of saliva escaping her mouth. Her stomach growled at the thought of chomping on the appetizing raw flesh of the Dragonesian Prince. Unbeknownst to her, her nature had taken the form of a ruthless beast, completely.

She was becoming a full dragon.

As Cynthia witnessed the pupils of the Dragonesian woman dilating, she knew that not much time was left. Fortunately, Leon was already out of the shack-house, with the support of Lucian. On the other hand, Alana inched closer to Cynthia with perplexity as she observed the Dragonesian woman taking deep breaths.

"This is our chance," Alana tugged on Cynthia's sleeve, "We need to leave. Now."

With a nod in agreement, the two girls went out of the shack-house and soon joined the others waiting outside for the duo. The Dragonesian woman was left inside the shanty.

"Did you manage to injure her?" Lena inquired when she saw Alana and Cynthia with no wounds on them, whatsoever.

Alana shook her head, "Something is happening to her. We do not know what, but it is something."

As if it was meant to occur, like an omen, the entire shack-house broke apart, shattering into pieces. The sextet turned around with bated breaths. Similar to the calmness prior to the arrival of a storm, silence prevailed. And soon, she came.

The Dragonesian woman, with steady steps which defied her fragile, thin and old body, walked out of the ruins of the shack-house. Midnight blue smoke emitted off of her body, creating an enchanting but frightening aura surrounding her.

And soon, she transformed.

The woman transformed into her dragon form.

What Alana, Lucian and Cynthia had failed to notice back inside the shack-house was that the woman had already tasted the blood running through Leon's veins. After all, her pointed nails had caught on the blood drawn out of the Dragonesian boy's neck.

The woman cackled as her midnight blue eyes glowed under the moonlight.

Before they could comprehend anything, the six of them were facing a huge black dragon. Its scaly wings stood out all in their glory, whereas the vicious orbs of the now transformed dragon gazed over the tiny beings in front of her.

She was a Devil Class Dragonesian, indeed.
