Fall in Love
(A SaiDa AU one-shot)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, just great, Minatozaki Sana thought while staring at the dark clouds above her with a scared look on her face. But it was sunny minutes ago.
It was her fault for not watching the weather report before going out. It was her fault for not bringing an umbrella with her. It was her fault that she didn't charge her smartphone. It was her fault for deciding to buy groceries in the afternoon. It was her fault for not taking a taxi to go home after grocery shopping (she hated taxis, anyway). It was her fault for taking the shortcut in the park to go back to her apartment faster.
"No, no, no," she kept muttering to herself while fast-walking, holding her eco bag in one hand. "Just a little more and--"
She jinxed herself; heavy drops of rain started falling, causing her to start running to the old white oak tree that was standing proudly in the middle of the park. She'd almost slipped on the muddy ground. The large tree was her shelter for the time being. Perhaps the reason that there were no people playing or chilling in the park was because they knew it'd rain in the afternoon.
Sana let out a sigh. "Please, no thun--"
A loud booming of thunder could be heard, which made the Japanese girl let out a yelp, squat and cover her ears with her hands, resulting in the eco bag to fall to the ground. She'd have to deal with that later.
Ever since Sana was young, she was astraphobic--someone who is scared of thunder/lightning. It was okay if she were at home because she felt safe. But now, out here in the middle of the park--with a tree as her shelter nonetheless--Sana felt vulnerable.
Her phone battery was drained, so she couldn't use it to play music with her earphones to not hear the thunder. And even though she only bought canned goods, she didn't want to run under the heavy rain and get herself soaked.
I'm such a hopeless case, Sana thought to herself, letting out a defeated sigh. Her ginger hair was whipping in her face due to the strong gust of wind. I guess I'll have to get through this dilemma by myself and hope that this rain will end as soon as possible.
All of a sudden the Japanese girl screamed "white lady!" when she saw a pale hand right in front of her.
This is so not my day, she thought, almost on the verge of tears. Good-bye, Mom, Dad, and friends. I'm gonna die because of a heart attack. I love you all.
But her eyes widened in shock when she heard someone reply in a teasing tone, "I was about to help you stand up and pick the canned goods from the ground, but you called me 'white lady' instead? The disrespect."
Sana finally looked up to see a blonde lady who was smiling down at her. But what made Sana gasp were her monolid hazel eyes that looked warm as gooey chocolate.
Wait, what?
"Ohmigosh! I'm so sorry!" White ladies don't have blonde hair, anyway, she sheepishly thought. The Japanese girl accepted the lady's hand and she helped her stand up, the rain still heavily falling down. The girl was wearing a jogging outfit, opposite to Sana's flowery dress. But thanks to the oak tree, they were still not soaking wet. "And th-thanks."
"No prob," the Korean girl said, still smiling at her after picking up Sana's eco bag from the ground and giving it to her, their hands touching lightly. Even with the cold weather, Sana felt the warmth from her hand.
There was another boom of thunder and it made Sana flinch, almost dropping the eco bag to the ground again. Of course, the other girl noticed this and quickly put her white earphones into Sana's ears and played a random song from her phone, muting the sounds of rain and thunder. Sana didn't notice that a tear had fallen from her eye until the girl wiped it away from her cheek with her thumb gently.
My savior!
Sana was grateful for what the girl had done and hugged her as her thanks.
"I think I'm in love, I didn't know before
If I open the window so I can see you
Please sing loudly for me, just this much."
For some reason the song was making Sana bubbly and warm inside; even the singer's voice was good and peaceful. She was about to end the hug, thinking her savior found it awkward, when the latter wrapped her arms around Sana's neck while drawing soothing circles on her back, which made Sana relax and sigh in content.
"Let me open my eyes to your good scent
Always make me feel comfortable
I want to shyly bring you here and secretly kiss you."
Sana's mind blanked for a second. Good lord, it's just a song, she thought. Just a romantic song. And she just played it randomly; this doesn't mean anything. But she does smell good...like baby powder.
"On a warm spring day, I want to walk with you at the same place..."
Too bad it's raining cats and dogs right now.
"Always make me stay in the same place
Let me hear your breath and your heartbeat even closer."
Yeah, Sana could definitely hear the other girl's heart beating.
"I regretted so much the moment I almost lost you
Now stay like this for always."
Sana was starting not to regret her actions and decisions earlier, because she got to meet this sweet and kind lady.
Starting to feel the song and getting along with its rhythm, Sana sang the chorus with her eyes closed.
"I think I'm in love, I didn't know before
If I open the window so I can see you
Please sing loudly for me
I didn't know back then but I was secretly crying
Don't let me regret, wah yeah oh, just this much."
Just then Sana was taken aback when the Korean girl removed the left earphone from her ear and sang while gazing intently into her brown eyes:
"I want to see the same part of you several times a day, yeah
During the mornings, walk with me on that road
Your white dream, that feeling of chasing bees, come closer to me."
It was weird to Sana why she was having that feeling of chasing bees inside her stomach. Shouldn't it be butterflies? Sana admitted that the girl she was hugging had a soft and cute voice.
"My heart is fluttering, it feels like I'm walking on a cloud now. Let's stay like this until always," the girl continued singing.
Then the two of them sang the chorus together.
"I think I'm in love, I didn't know before
If I open the window so I can see you
Please sing loudly for me
I didn't know back then but I was secretly crying
Don't let me regret, wah yeah oh, I'm in love with you."
"'Fall in Love' by Juniel, if you were wondering," the Korean girl started with a grin when the song was finished, and Sana noticed how white her teeth were, almost as white as her skin.
Dubu, Sana thought, giggling mentally, and she just noticed that the rain had already stopped. However, it was still cloudy. She gave the earphones back to the blonde.
"The song was cute. I loved it," Sana replied, smiling back at her. "Whew, I thought I was the only one in this park. Thank you so much for your help! I could've died if it weren't for you back there."
"You're welcome." She did a peace sign. "Actually, I was just sitting on one of the lower branches of the tree while reading an ebook on my phone when I heard your yelp, so I climbed down and helped you out. As a concerned Korean citizen, of course." She checked her phone. "Whoops, I have to go now. Good-bye and take care, miss."
"Wait!"
Before she could leave, Sana stopped her by gently grabbing her wrist. She didn't want her savior to go just yet.
"U-um, well..." Sana stuttered while the Korean was gazing at her patiently. "Want some canned goods?"
She almost dug a hole to bury herself from embarrassment when the girl in front of her raised a questioning eyebrow.
"I mean, your name!" Sana finally said, flushed. "What's your name? B-but if you don't wanna tell me, it's okay..."
Her savior gave another dazzling smile, her eyes turning into crescents, and replied, "Kim Dahyun. Yours?"
"Minatozaki Sana," said Sana, still itching to talk to Dahyun more and more. There was something with Dahyun that she couldn't pinpoint, and she certainly didn't want this moment to be their last meeting. She also wanted to get to know her more.
"I want to see the same part of you several times a day, yeah," Sana repeated a verse from the song instead while gazing back at Dahyun, determined. "During the mornings, walk with me on that road. Your white dream, that feeling of chasing bees, come closer to me."
Chuckling, Dahyun took a step closer to Sana and replied:
"My heart is fluttering, it feels like I'm walking on a cloud now. Let's stay like this until always."
It was raining heavily yesterday and I remembered that Sana is afraid of thunder, so this idea came to my mind and I had to write a oneshot of it hehe. Also, the song is one of my faves from the Korean drama Meow the Secret Boy or Welcome. When I found out a Once and SaiDa shipper made a fanmade video of it, I was ecstatic! Feel free to watch and give it a listen. :D
