Chapter 4 ~ Siblings drama
Shouting
The next morning I felt voices yeah felt them right over my head shouting.
"You gotta be kidding me you came all the way here just for me??" A guy's voice low, soft, calming asked but the impact was spoilt when he banged his palm on the desk.
"Don't show attitude now! This is 'not' the last time I am doing this for you"
"You mean 'this is the last time' you're doing this for me.."
"No I mean it is not! I will do every time I will follow you everywhere. 'Wherever you go I go'... this was the pact you remember?"
Deafening silence from the other side.
I closed my eyes pulled in by the heavy slumber, thinking I must be having some strange dream of two people arguing.
"We made an oath under the peepal tree remember?" The familiar voice asked icily, so cold to the point I was awakened by it.
"Ahh. .... Divya it was in childhood, these things kids do all time ..there's no such pact it was fake!"
"But you said everything concerning peepal tree is serious the ghosts will haunt us if we break our oaths!" Divya was getting hysterical and emotional
"I lied Divya... anyway that's not important you have to-
"How it's not important! It is very important! I have been living my whole life in fear of being haunted by ghosts and you say it's all lies! Lies lies!'
"Ah don't shout you will wake your roommate!" The other voice whispered after banging his palm on the desk.
Very smooth.
I huffed and got up sliding the blanket off me, "really?" I asked looking at both of them
Divyanshi, maybe my negligence and ignorance toward my last roommate had made Karma pretty upset to have me ended up with a roommate I could never ignore even if I tried to.
She appeared not even a little bit remorse about disturbing me instead she glared at me accusingly, "how could you leave me alone there?" She pointed her finger at me.
I turned my head suppressing the little guilt I felt when I came back. I wanted to go and check whether she was alright or returned back safely.
Because of her, I had to take two sleeping pills.
I eyed the digital clock at her side of the room 5:00 am when my eyes landed on the second figure, her brother Sahil stood at the door with folded arms looking at me.
I became conscious of my messy bun and puffy eyes but I shoved it right where it came from.
I asked Divyanshi my eyes still on her brother who tilted his head when recognition flashed in his eyes, I blushed remembering my oscar winning first impression, damn it!, "what is he doing here?"
"He is my brother" she replied.
Now I looked at her.
The said brother spoke, "Sorry to cause you the trouble we are leaving already"
"No! I am not going anywhere" Divyanshi argued, Sahil sighed tiredly, he appeared to be in a good form today and also confident?
He yanked the bag which I noticed now. Divyanshi caught the other strap of it pulling it towards herself, "I am not going anywhere Bhaiya! After seeing you throwing yourself to bullies like you don't have your own arms and legs so pathetic you didn't even think about my reputation.?? I am not leaving!"
"Don't make it difficult Divya you are going back home to complete your rest of the studies!" Sahil pulled the bag making Divyanshi stumble then reached out to help her which Divyanshi responded by tugging the bag out of his grasp.
"You really think I care about studying? I care about you I will not go anywhere listen it loud and clear you are on medications I will see to it, your medicines, your everything your every move you can't runway forever!"
This time Sahil looked shaken by it even I would be if I have Divyanshi on my tail her eyes following me everywhere. It was kinda scary.
Sahil's eyes hardened I wondered where his neat spectacles went?
I wondered why I am not kicking them not?
I wondered why did I sit there shaking my head to alert him don't say that when I reckon what Sahil was going to say.
"Don't you get it! I want you away I don't want anything to do with you! why are you so obsessed! leave me alone give me space! Can't you all understand? Can't I live my life on my own? Can't you all stop hovering and following me? I am fine .. just leave me alone!" Sahil outburst with his fingers digging in his hair in frustration. He momentarily flinched seeing Divyanshi's hurt expression.
Her head turned down she whispered, "I won't"
Sahil extended his hand as if to pat her head or make his sister alright but he yanked it down then whirled storming out the door not before warning her, "don't follow me"
Divyanshi stepped back stiffly then dropped on the bed with her hands on her face she cried silently as her shoulders shook.
What a nice way to start your day?
A front seat to live family drama.
I moved away from the bed with a pounding head, sleep-deprived with no food in the stomach and emotionally influenced by my roommate. These could be the causes as to why my limbs were governed by someone else someone not me when I picked the packet beside Divyanshi who still was invested in her crying.
I thought she won't notice me making my way out of the door but she spoke when I reached the door, "Serra I knew you were the right person that's why I chose you as my roommate"
I stopped, dead in my track she got my instinct to throttle her for what she meant so she quickly added, "I won't answer you... At least not yet"
Like that I was back to myself I tossed the packet of medicine back at her, "I am gonna ask them to change my roommate" I said.

"Looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed," Zoya said eyeing me.
When I made holes on my question paper with the pen brutally
"I want to change my roommate why can't they transfer her to some other room..." I told stabbing the paper.
"Now now Serra my distant cousin... the paper is at no fault, let's calculate your marks " Faisal slid my paper out of my grasp I glowered at him.
This guy won't let go I wonder how long he's gonna stick by our side using the same rusty story. Just because of Zoya I was tolerating him. He and Zoya both were from Kashmir they also shared their favourite Kabab shop place so now they have some weird same state same favourite food stall type of bond.
Also, his chemistry is really good. He scored the highest so I can't complain much about him sitting with me while other students were dying to be friends with him. His additional good looks had girls turning our way even the topper of our batch couldn't resist sparing a second glance.
"Why can't I transfer to your room?" I asked Zoya snatching my paper from Faisal and hiding my face when he stared at the dark circles beneath my eyes.
"My eye makeup went wrong" I lied.
"Of course," he said nodding his head, doing a show of believing me.
"Because unlike you my roommate is very sweet," Zoya answered my question with a spot able blush on her cheeks.
"I know" I gave her a look something between jealousy and you are crazy! She and her roommate both had boyfriends who were roommates and now you can understand what would happen after it
"Alright, class let's discuss the paper," The teacher said drawing our attention.
I didn't perform well because most of the time I was yawning while writing the paper and half of my mind was somewhere else somewhere back in my room solving why Divyanshi said she knew I was the right person?
Right person?
How will I get rid of her? Knowing how stubborn she was.
So, it was no wonder why I scored below 600.
Zoya glanced at my paper when I wrote my overall marks after deducing the negative marking with a heavy heart, I dropped the pen.
"520! Serra what happened?" My enemy number one turned her head at the back reading my marks. Because Nadia had always been more concerned about my marks than my parents.
"I will give you a special fairwell when you will be transferred to another batch," Nadia said with a sweet smile.
"Mind your own business" Zoya shooed her away.
I dropped my head on the desk sighing and messing my hair in despair.
What am I gonna do now?
"Don't worry Serra your overall performance is good and we have another test this week you can score better in that and I know you will!" Zoya said rubbing my shoulder trying to cheer me up.
I will?

In the break, I went upstairs on the terrace to breath some fresh air not the one that had others discussing the test and test and test.
With my mobile phone in my hand, I pushed open the door.
I heaved climbing the stairs all the way to the 11 floor.
Like always I didn't expect anyone here, usually fewer people take out time to enjoy the fresh air and unlimited sky view from the terrace. So It made me stumbled on my step when I found someone else there. A guy in a maroon blazer standing right on top of the railing. What...
Was he?
My eyes widened I nearly stopped breathing for a second, I froze then the desperate need to move shook my body, I dropped my phone and ran immediately.
On hearing the running footsteps towards him the guy turned his head.
I recognised him the shabby hair and light brown eyes.
I pulled him by his arm the sudden movement had him lost his balance..
good thing he didn't fell on the other side ...I tripped back as his body jumped over me. Dear me.
I fell on the hard ground my head struck painfully on the marble floor but that was the least of my concern. I encircled my arms around Sahil, feeling the warmness of his body, the loud beating of his heat against mine, his fast breathing whisking my hair.
And
He was alive
