chapter 3

"I don't even know where to start. Callie was, she was her everything. They were inseparable, I mean, like, that girl's heart bled for Callie Merlyn."

"Was?"

"Yeah but for now, I think it's best we head inside."

"Sara!" Barry called out, jogging over to where the blonde had been giving Mick instructions to be on his best behaviour at the wedding of their friends. She spun around, a smile on her face as she watched the groom jog lightly towards her.

The wedding was due to start any minute, but Barry knew that this was the first chance he had to really properly thank the woman for coming especially when he knew it was going to be hard for her.

"I just wanted to, um, thank you for being here after everything," Barry said softly, placing a gentle hand on the assassins shoulder. Sara could feel Oliver's eyes on her but she refused to break down at the thought of this being her and Callie's big day.

Her eyes glossed slightly as a few tears built up in them but she refused to let them fall. Her and Callie hadn't had this chance to show everyone their devotion but she wasn't going to let that ruin Iris and Barry's wedding for her.

"Thanks Barry," she muttered softly. Joe called out to Barry, reminding his son that the wedding was literally about to start. Kara was standing at the alter with a microphone, ready to sing the couple into the church. The speedster looked slightly conflicted for a second as he had wanted to continue to make sure that Sara was okay but he needed to go.

"Go," she said, a small smile on her face as she nudged him slightly towards the alter. "It's been three months since I last saw her, Barry. If I had known if would have been the last time, maybe I'd have done something different. But I didn't and now I have to pay the repercussions for that. This is your chance to do what I didn't get to do, so go!" She pushed him once more and the speedster forced a smile on his face as he jogged back over to the alter. Sara sat down beside Alex, faking a smile as the ceremony started.

Alex glanced slightly at the woman as she thought back to what Sara had just told Barry. Reaching out, she placed a soft hand on Sara's arm as the woman tried to fake a smile. Sara looked at the red-head, her smile becoming real as she thanked her silently for comforting her - even if she would deny it when anyone asked.

___

"Millie, a word?"

Millie moved away from the rest of the Nazi army as her brother called her over to where himself, Overgirl and Dark Arrow were standing. She knew that Earth-X Oliver had a different, German name but she had always promised herself that she would not internally call him by it. She hated the power that the word carried.

"I know this might be conflicting for you," Oliver told her, his voice stern as he eyed his protégée. There was no sympathy in his eyes for her at what was about to happen. "But we're going to remind you that this is your life now. These scum, they left you to die. You saw what happened after, they didn't even care for you. You are above them."

Millie nodded, almost believing the things that were leaving his mouth. Besides, they had already told her that they weren't going to the earth that she had lived on, so she knew that even if she did have to kill someone who looked like her friends it wasn't actually them. Tommy had warned her that they might even run into a different version of herself but it was all just a lie - not that she knew that.

They were going to her Earth. They were literally on the rooftop a few blocks away from where HER friends had gathered. There was no other 'Millie' - this Earth's version of herself was herself.

Millie closed her eyes as she thought about what they were about to do. There was another Kara on this earth - not her one, she thought - that they needed to kidnap. That was all they were there to do. She could do this.

Besides, she thought, she had killed people who looked like her friends before.

___

"Millie!" The raven-haired girl turned around at what she was now trying to adjust to as her name, just to see a familiar blonde running towards her and launching herself at the girl. Millie's arms wrapped around her so familiarly, a small smile resting on her lips as she realised that this Earth, as cruel and dark as it was, had a Sara Lance.

Just before Callie could say anything, Sara started babbling.

"I know we promised never to speak of it but I love you. I love you so much more than a friend and I swear if we need to escape this place for me to be with you I will, I swear to god I will," Sara rambled, her hands resting on the cheeks of the higher-up girl. Callie blinked in confusion slightly as she pulled back so that she could try and understand what was happening.

Sara hadn't obviously been told that she was not the Millie that had been on this Earth previously. And that was her downfall.

Rounding the corner came Quentin Lance, but not the one that Callie knew from her Earth. She could tell instantly by his uniform he was an SS, the rank slightly below her but still a ridiculously higher rank than most. And by the disgusted look on his face, he had heard exactly what his daughter had said.

"You," he growled, causing Sara's face to drop as she turned around to face her father. "YOU DARE TO BRING SUCH FILTH TO THIS BLOODLINE?" He yelled, the veins on his neck popping as he sped forward and delivered a blow across his daughter's face.

Callie stood back, watching the event happen with shock written across her face. Just as she considered moving forward to stop this from happening a hand wrapped itself around her bicep and forced her to stand back.

Looking to her right, the 'führer' was staring at her blankly. While he had looked identical to her Ollie, she had learnt very quickly that their face was the only thing the men had in common.

"Take this as a lesson," he murmured harshly into her ear. He knew that this version of Millie was exactly like Sara when it came to who she loved, but he knew exactly how to wipe what he determined to be filfth off the girl. "Your love? It's wrong."

Callie watched as they continued to attack the girl she loved. Just before she could turn away once more, SS Lance looked up, passing his gun to the younger girl. Millie's eyes widened as it was thrust into her hands and she was moved by Oliver to face the broken Sara.

"Now, you learn. Pull the trigger."

And while Callie Merlyn from Earth One didn't pull the trigger, the new Millie of Earth-X did.

___

That had been the moment she had started to change, Millie had decided. That was the moment that she really became Millie. After that, the General knew that she had really managed to break the girl down until they could build her back up as the Millie that they had known and respected.

That Millie was the one that was now standing in her Falke uniform, her red and black bow resting in her hands as she stood beside her brother. The church doors were directly in front of them, and Millie allowed her mask to activate over her face to hide who she was from the people that were currently inside with no idea on what was about to happen.

"Remember the consequences," Oliver muttered into her ear as he moved to the front of the crowd of Nazi's. Overgirl, her brother and herself all stood on his flank as they waited his orders to move ahead and attack. Millie took a deep breath as she reached into her arrow holder and allowed the first arrow to be notched on to her bow.

She was well aware of the consequences. Every time she had fallen out of line, even slightly, Oliver had taken her to SS Lance with the directions that she was to watch someone be killed from the concentration camps on their Earth. Eventually, she had began to grow accustomed to it, but it was still hard for her to witness.

Just as she took a deep breath, Oliver raised his hand into the arm and everything began.

___

"If anyone has any reason why this couple should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace," the minister said, smiling softly at Barry and Iris.

Sara was getting ready to clap for the couple as it was obvious that no-one would interrupt this wedding especially when it was between two of the nicest people around.

She knew she had thought too soon. The minister literally disintegrated before their eyes, two beams of laser energy having shot him straight through the chest. Everyone screamed as they turned around to see where the shot had came from.

Sara felt her stomach turn at the sight. Not only were there hundreds of Nazi's filling the church, but there was also three figures standing at the front of the crowd. She recognised one of them as Prometheous, and the other two's outfits looked faintly familiar but she couldn't figure out why. In the air, someone who reminded her of Kara was floating, having just shot at the minister.

"Peace is over-rated."

"Oh you've got to be kidding me," Iris breathed, shock written all over her face as she turned around to look at the army that had gathered with the intention of ruining her wedding.

"Nazis?" Oliver asked, a sudden fear ringing through him at the sight. He knew exactly what the Nazi's had been capable of, and for them to have appeared here certainly wasn't going to go down well for anyone.

"I hate Nazis," Barry, Kara and Oliver all muttered, their eyes narrowed as they turned to face the intruders.

Just as the words left their lips, the infantry started to fire their guns at everyone standing in the church. Millie held her ground as she awaited movement from her brother and the others as she didn't want to put a single foot out of line.

She held her breath slightly as the bullets went directly for this Earth's version of Barry and Iris, and she found herself stunned as Barry moved with the super-speed that her Barry had to stop and catch all the bullets before they killed someone. Millie knew exactly what was happening, but she couldn't bring herself to focus on the reality. She had been so believing when they had said that this wasn't going to be her Earth, but the fact that all her friends were somehow in the one place literally was sending warning bells in her head.

Watching as Jax and Stein combined their bodies, Millie felt a dreadful feeling take over her. These were HER friends. This was HER earth.

As her brother and the others moved into action, Millie knew that she wasn't going to be able to attack any of her friends properly. Following her mentor, she moved to stand on the top of one of the balconys, shooting arrows into the crowd.

Unlike Dark Oliver, she knew exactly who she was shooting for. A strategically timed arrow for Barry, knowing that he would catch it. One for Wally who also caught it. A low-heat resistance arrow at firestorm that burned up before it even touched them. She was not going for the kill.

Just as she went to fire another arrow, she was knocked to her feet as her Oliver suddenly appeared from a strange blue portal beside them. Stumbling backwards, she turned around to face the man as the Earth-X Oliver punched him across the face.

As he went in to kill her Oliver, Millie felt something in her change. Launching forward she struck the Earth-X Oliver across the face. The man stumbled backwards, his stance suddenly changing from offensive to full on furious. Millie ducked under his arm as he swung for her, noticing that her Oliver was now watching confused as they started to fight each other.

Before Millie could do anything, there was a sudden large ringing sound that forced everyone in the room to their knees. She groaned, reaching up to touch her head as she stumbled. As she watched Overgirl go flying through the church and landing just below them, Earth-X Oliver jumped the balcony and landed at her feet.

"FALL BACK! EVERYBODY FALL BACK!" He yelled, reaching into his pocket to throw a smoke grenade on the floor. Just as he did that, Millie felt a sudden pain in her stomach.

When the smoke cleared, her Oliver turned around to see who had managed to save his life from the Darker version of himself. While her black hair was loose, the mask covered her face and he couldn't quite realise why he found them familiar.

And as he tried to work it out, he realised why the figure was stumbling. A red and black arrow was embedded into their chest as they stumbled backwards, falling over the edge of the balcony and landing on the ground at the alters.
