chapter 14
"When I was brainwashed by the league, you said that to me. That you needed me, and that Tommy believed we'd get married one day," Callie muttered, looking up at Sara. There was a determination in her eyes that Sara had long missed, and it was the first time she had seen Callie for who she once had been.
"I'll always need you Callie," Sara muttered, squeezing her hand gently as everyone got into position.
"Good, cause once this is all over - the Nazi's, the invasion, everything - we're going to have one hell of a wedding."

"He's alive, but his condition is critical," Alex informed the rest of the team as they crowded around the bleeding and barely conscious Stein.
While Stein had successfully managed to push the switch and open the breach, he had been shot twice during the fight. Callie had seen it too late, not able to shove the man out of the way as he took the second bullet to help get the team home.
"All right, Gideon will fix him," Sara reassured everyone, a panicked look on her face as she watched the man that had grown to be a father figure to her breathing heavily on the cold ground. Callie stood behind Sara, Alex and Jax as they crouched on the ground in front of the man, Oliver reaching out and squeezing her hand lightly in the moment of chaos to keep her focused. Callie nodded at him, a silent thank passing between them.
Alex shook her head, examining the wound that was on the professors side. "No, it's too dangerous to move him."
Sara shook her head, knowing exactly how to solve this. Looking at Callie and Oliver to double check that they were following her, the duo both nodded in confirmation at the idea.
"Not if he's Firestorm."
Jax's eyes widened, moving forward and grabbing on to Stein's hand. "Grey, come on!"
Callie stood back, watching as the two merged into Firestorm, Jax's eyes glowing their usual white as they rose from the floor. Looking around to see that Barry had finally joined them, Callie released Oliver's hand as they all turned to head towards the breach that they had opened.
Falling into stride beside Sara, Callie knew that this was far from over. She had a just feeling that a lot had been happening on the other side of that breach since they were taken, and she just hoped to god that everyone was safe.
"Thanks for your help," Oliver thanked Leo, his eyes barely looking at the man as they all strode towards the breach. Everyone was desperate to get back and get off this hellish Earth.
"We're not done helping yet," Leo told the man, adjusting the visor on his eyes as he looked towards the archer. "Our enemies are still on your earth, Ollie."
Oliver faultered slightly, knowing that there was only four people in the Universe that he would ever let call him that, and Leo certainly wasn't one of them. "Don't call me that."
"Give it time, I'll get through that crusty exterior!" Leo chirped, watching as Oliver zoomed ahead of them all to avoid the cold man. Callie sniggered, looking at Sara who also had a smirk on her face.
"No, you really won't," she told him, knowing fine well that there was only a couple of people in the world that Oliver would ever let in, herself being one of them.
Snart laughed, moving his head to turn and look at Sara with a wide smirk on his face. "I was talking to you."
Callie sniggered again, a chuckle falling from her lips as she watched Sara pause in her steps, confused at the man saying that to her. The blonde narrowed her eyes, turning back around to look at Callie with a slight playful look in her eyes.
"Keep sniggering and our engagement is cancelled," she warned, a complete lie that they all knew.
Callie paused just before they all moved through, turning around and looking across the room with a small sigh falling from her lips. She had never felt as glad to leave somewhere as she was in that moment, nothing but dark and horrid memories crossing her mind as she studied the Nazi symbol that donned the room and its belongings.
"You okay Callie?" Barry asked, drawing everyones attention to where the raven-haired girl was standing a few steps behind the rest of them. They all turned, looking at her in confusion as she turned back to them with a soft smile on her face.
"I'm just glad to never see this place again."
___
Callie paced the library room on the Waverider as she waited for news on Stein and Jax. Both of them had taken ill, with Jax being the only reason that Stein was still alive. Callie considered it almost cruel that the one thing keeping Stein alive was also what was killing Jax. Closing her eyes she leaned against the table as she took a deep breath in, remembering the smell of the Waverider just as it was when she last stepped foot on it.
Ray, Nate and Amaya followed Zari as they walked through the Waverider, knowing that there was nothing they could do for their teammates. They had already suffered so much loss in such a short period of time that they just weren't sure how they were meant to keep a tight head.
In the pandemonium of the others coming back through the breach and Stein being shot, they had not been informed by anyone from any of the teams that Callie had also came back through the breach during the wedding, but they were about to find out.
Walking into the library, Zari barely noticed the girl standing with her back to them, thinking it was maybe just another member of one of the other teams. Ignoring how her team seemed to pause in their steps, she coughed lightly as she walked towards the girl.
"Hi, I don't think we've met, I'm Zari!" She told the girl, knowing that everyone was suffering with Stein and Jax's current state. Watching as the girl turned around to look at her, Zari noticed that she had been fiddling with a ring on a chain around her neck. Not connecting the dots, she pointed at it in recognition. "Hey, Sara has one just like that!"
Callie smiled at the girl, knowing that she was obviously new to the team. Sara had told her that they had picked up another in her absence, but she didn't expect her to be so enthusiastic. Callie nodded, letting the chain drop back under her thick uniformed shirt that she had always worn on Earth-X. It seemed to be at that moment when Zari noticed the red Nazi logo on the side of her sleeve as the black haired woman moved backwards slightly when she noticed her team had not approached the girl.
Looking over Zari's shoulder, Callie barely had time to react when Nate flung himself across the room. The man grabbed on to her shoulder, barely pausing to look at her before pulling her into a tight hug. She could see over his shoulder that Ray and Amaya both seemed to be in shock as they stared at their teammate that they had seen being lowered into the ground three months prior. Zari was looking between them all, confused as to why they were hugging a member of the Earth-X Nazi crew.
"You were dead," Ray breathed out as Nate released Callie, allowing Amaya and Ray to also share a hug with the girl. Callie nodded as the all moved back slightly, giving themselves and her space.
Zari looked around again at the three, previous conversations from the team telling her that Sara had lost someone recently hence why she was a lot stricter on them all flowing back into her mind. Looking again at the ring around her neck, Zari instantly pieced together just who the girl standing in front of her was.
"Callie Merlyn," Callie said, holding her hand out to Zari with a smile on her face as she saw the recognition in her eyes. "It's nice to meet you Zari."
"What happened to you?" Ray asked, ignoring the introduction between the two women. Callie turned around, and opened her mouth to answer when Barry walked into the room, a solemn look on his face.
"It's Stein, he didn't make it."
___
"I'm here," Callie whispered into Sara's ear as she rubbed her arm gently. While they were surrounded by the other teams, they didn't care about showing each other a little affection; and no-one was going to stop them after everything they had been through.
"Where are we with locating the other Waverider?" Oliver asked, gathering everyones attention as Zari and Amaya walked into the bridge. Callie turned to look at them, her hand still gently resting on Sara's arm.
"We got a pretty good idea. I mean, we've all heard of the Chandrasekhar Limit, I assume?" Curtis, a member of Oliver's team, told them as they all moved closer together.
"The data indicates it's still in the vicinity of Central City," Zari interrupted, knowing that no-one know what the Chandrasekhar Limit was except from them.
"Which also indicates that Overgirl isn't long for this world," The Ray nodded, having been kept up to date on the current status of the evil General.
"Which means that this world isn't long for this world," Curtus added, causing Callie to move uneasily on the balls of her feet. Sara moved forward, lighting wrapping her arm across Callie's shoulders to try and ease the girl's anxiousness.
"Failure's not an option!" Oliver interrupted their scepticism, looking around at the room to try and boost everyone's spirits. "Losing is not an option. We are gonna win. And we are gonna show these people that this earth - belongs to us!"
Everyone nodded, Callie sniggering under her breath slightly as she looked at how unmotivated everyone looked by his short speech. Sara nudged her slightly, trying to hide the small smirk on her face as she looked at Callie.
"Wow, thanks Gandhi," Callie muttered, causing a snigger to travel across the room. Oliver turned to Callie, his eyes narrowed but the hint of a small smile holding itself back from spreading across his face. They had all missed the girl and her snarky remarks, and they were just glad to hear her shoot one.
"Miss Merlyn, it's great to have you back!"
Half of the room jumped as the British voice rang throughout the room, a wide grin appearing on Callie's face as she looked up slightly at the roof of the ship. Oliver rolled his eyes, huffing as Callie ignored his speech.
"Thanks Gideon, I'm glad to be back."
"Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Queen, but we're being hailed by a fellow Timeship," Gideon informed Oliver, with everyone instantly knowing exactly who it was. Callie tensed up, the smile instantly being wiped from her face as Sara squeezed her shoulder.
"Put it on," Oliver ordered, moving around to stand on the steps of the Captain's office with the rest of the teams.
"What do you want?" Sara snarled, her hand tightening slightly from where it rested on Callie's shoulder. The girl stood in-between Sara and Oliver on the bottom step of the stairs, the rest of the teams
"To offer a truce," Earth-X Oliver said, his eyes narrowing in his hologram as he looked at the teams all standing united with Callie in the middle.
"In exchange for what?"
"We will return to our earth peacefully if you meet my two demands," He snarled, looking around at them all. Callie gulped slightly, her eyes staring with a deep hatred at him. "Supergirl comes with us."
"That's only one demand," Barry pointed out, his voice rough and harsh as he held on to Iris. The woman was still shaken up from the loss of their friend and from almost being killed by Nazi's.
Callie felt her blood run cold before Dark Oliver even spoke, knowing instantly that they would view her as a traitor and a betrayer to their cause; meaning death.
"We want Millie to pay for her crimes," Oliver spoke, his hands clasped tightly in front of him as he glared down the screen. Sara squeezed Callie's hand tighter, a deep glare falling on her face as she almost let out a hiss at his words.
Oliver shook his head, anger running through his blood as he felt the fear from Kara and Callie at what was about to happen to them. The man shook his head, reaching over to end the call.
"Here's another difference between you and me. I don't abandon my friends."
The hologram disappeared, Callie taking a deep breath as Sara turned around and placed a quick kiss to her lips, knowing that Callie was panicking now. She was breathing deeply as she looked at Sara with nothing but fear in her eyes.
"I can't go back there," she breathed out, jumping slightly as a hand clamped on to her wrist. Turning her head, she noticed Oliver looking at her firmly but also gently.
"You'll never need to," he murmured, pulling the girl into a quick hug as everyone around them rushed to get ready. "All right. Everybody ready to go?" He asked, turning around to address the crowd.
"We can't bring Marty back, but we can protect the city he loved, and the family he left behind," Ray reminded them all, knowing that this was going to be the hardest battle they had left to fight. Callie nodded, standing beside Sara as she turned around to face everyone who had gathered on her ship.
"For the Professor," Sara confirmed, a small nod as she got ready to give the signal to move.
Callie smiled widely, knowing that Sara was about to deliver a final line - something that she always did. Looking at Cisco who was standing beside her, she winked at the man.
"Wait for it..."
"Now let's go kick some ass!" Sara yelled, throwing her hands in the air.
"THERE IT IS!"
