Chapter 1~News
SEPTEMBER 2018
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BE- I quickly slapped off my alarm clock as I woke up to the treacherous sound of it. Looking over I saw it was only 4:30 in the morning. Though it was early, I knew my parents would probably already be getting ready to leave for work.
Having loads of time to get ready, I wasted some minutes on YouTube and Instagram, also trying to procrastinate going downstairs and having to meet my parents before they left. They were NOT my favorite people right now.
Figuring I had wasted enough time on my phone, I headed downstairs to fix my self-something to eat. Which I hoped would make my tummy forgive me for not eating dinner last night or lunch, as I was trying to avoid my parents for both.
As I am heading down, I hear talking coming from the living room, though don't think anything of it as I figured my parents had left the television on again. I find myself sadly mistaken when I reach the lower level only to come face to face with my father as I turn down the hallway to the kitchen.
Darnit.
Welp, there goes avoiding them as I had hoped. Why were they here anyway? Shouldn't they be off making money like the hard-working, wonderful, successful, people they were?
Note the sarcasm.
"Hey, honey! You're awake, Great!" If only I could match their enthusiasm about seeing them first thing in the morning.
"We have some things we need to discuss, come to sit down with us."
I follow him to the living area, quietly and notice that dad seems to have dressed more casual today, in a white tee and khaki shorts, which was a big change from his usual suit attire.
When we reach the living room, I see mom also dressed similarly, in a frilly blouse and jean shorts. What the heck was going on with these crazy, lunatics?
I sat down on the couch, a puzzled expression on my face, because seriously? Were these people okay?
"Can we please make this quick, because I have to get ready for school."
"You'll have time for that soon," My mom said," In fact, you'll have at least a couple more weeks."
Wait, what? A couple more weeks? School starts today though... Okay, it's official, my parents are on crack. It is the only possible explanation for the craziness currently running out of their mouths.
"Um, excuse me?"
"You heard right sweetie," My mother spoke once again, "Your father and I have decided to split up into different houses as we feel it's the only way to rekindle our relationship. In that event, we have also decided to send you to boarding school."
What. The. Heck.
"You will start in two weeks."
Yep, they were on crack for sure.
