Chapter Six
Will try to update again soon! :)
CHAPTER SIX
Jenna munches on another piece of bacon followed by sausage, and a hash brown. When she's finished eating, she dumps the food in the bin and walks around to me. With a longing look, I internally grumble at the fact she's just thrown away good food that I could have eaten as well. What a waste!
"Now tell me." She smiles. "Are there any hot boys you know... hooked up with? Do they have friends for me?" Jenna gives me a seductive wink that has me rubbing my face. I cannot get into a conversation about this stuff with Jenna, not now, not ever!
Where the heck is Kade when I need him? I really think he should fire that person who is supposed to keep Jenna out of here!
Jenna walks out of the kitchen and I follow her. We walk into the lounge room and I dash for the couch. I push my phone down the back of the cushion to hide it from Jenna.
"You're sitting down, this must mean you've got lots. Should I get the vodka? Do we need to take shots?" Jenna sounds pretty serious about finding vodka and taking these shots, which worries me. Doesn't this girl need to take a break? We just had a big night. There's no way my body can handle any more alcohol.
"There's no story, so we don't need vodka," I say. "We also don't need a repeat of last night." I shake my head.
"Huh?" She frowns. "There's always a story, Alessia." With sad puppy eyes, she begs me for answers.
"There's no story." I shrug my shoulders.
"Is there something wrong? You usually tell me everything." I should be thankful that Jenna is getting upset rather than angry over this. I don't want to be in poor Hannah's position.
The sound of the elevator doors opening brings a sigh of relief to my lips, finally, he must be home. I jump off the couch and run towards the entrance.
"You can't hide behind Kade for this."
As I slide into the entrance, Kade walks out of the entrance and towards me. I leap into his arms and cuddle his chest like the loving girlfriend I am.
"Babe, you're home?" I smile happily.
"Hi." He kisses the top of my head before addressing Jenna. She crosses her arms over her chest and heaves uncomfortably.
"We were just talking, Kade," she explains.
"Don't let me intrude then." Kade goes to step away from me, but I quickly tug him back.
"Did you forget, Kade Taylor," I grumble angrily as I channel the emotion Jenna had about Hannah previously into my dialogue. "Do you honestly think I'm going to let you forget about our dinner plans tonight?"
"Dinn-" His eyes light up with realisation. "Right, dinner, yes." He nods his head.
"We should start getting ready," I hint at Jenna leaving.
"I actually wanted to talk to Jenna before she left, would that be okay?"
"Sure." I quickly nod my head. "I'll leave you to talk." Before Jenna can question it, I dash down the hall to hide in the bedroom. I don't want to be near the war zone when it goes off at all!
A while later, there's a knock on the bedroom door. I roll around on the bed and look towards the door. Kade opens the door and pokes his head inside. There's a half-smile on his face, one that isn't too promising.
"That took longer than expected." He sighs tiredly.
"Good turn out?" I ask.
"She agreed to sign the contract with the condition she gets the chance to talk to Alessia."
"Is that a bad thing?" I ask.
"I guess I'll see." He shrugs his shoulders.
"Is Jenna still here?" The thought of having to deal with her is a little better. However, I'd just like to go back to sleeping. I haven't completely gotten used to the time zone switch, so I feel out of place now.
"Yes, she wants to talk to you before she leaves. Is that okay?" asks Kade.
"Yeah, that's fine." Kade nods his head and closes the door. I briefly hear his shoes click against the floor before a new pair chimes in. The sound of Jenna's heavy foot fall makes my head speed up. I hope she isn't going to bitch slap me or something. I don't think I could handle that right now.
I'm glad she knows now... Means I don't have to struggle with her. We could perhaps help each other get through this mess, and I won't need to keep answering all her weird questions.
Jenna walks inside the room without knocking. She takes a seat on the bed and looks at me through her fake eyelashes.
"I'm sorry for lying to you, Jenna. I feel really awful about it all," I apologise.
"Don't sweat it, babe. It's Alessia's fault for not telling me this before she left. It isn't your fault that she dumped this all on you," she explains with a bright smile on her face.
"You're a pretty cool chick." I grin.
"So are you, Lydia." The sound of my own name makes me smile with delight. It feels nice to be called my name instead of Alessia. It's an adjustment I'd need to get used to, however.
"Thanks." I smile.
"I'm going to go, but I'll see you around! Kade wants me to take you out to a few events, keep you relevant and in the public eye. Can I get your phone number so that I can message you?" she asks.
"Sure." I laugh. "And thanks for helping!"
Jenna passes her phone over and I put in my phone contact, I leave the name blank, but I see her put in 'Lydia' with a monkey emoji and a purple heart.
"And, some friendly advice for dinner." Smiles Jenna. "Alessia only really orders salads or small easy meals to eat when she goes out."
"Of course, she does." I roll my eyes and laugh. "I wasn't expecting to go out and order a steak burger or anything. Alessia seems like the minimalist type."
Jenna runs her fingers through her hair, then nods her head with agreement, "She sure is!"
We get off the bed and walk back towards the entrance. Jenna grabs her back from the table and hooks it over her shoulder. She gives me a light hug before hopping into the elevator and waving goodbye. Now that the secret is out, I'm sad to see Jenna leave, I think she'd be a fun person to destress with.
Kade appears out of nowhere and stands by my side. He lightly smiles down at me, the soft kind which makes me feel somewhat at home despite being a million miles away.
"I've made dinner arrangements," he says.
"Really?" I frown. "I was only kidding . . . "
"I think dinner could be interesting. It's a small intimate place which means we can talk privately," he responds.
"Now I need to figure out what to wear." I pout. "You could have told me this before Jenna left."
"Wear something casual with a twist," he offers. Before I can probe Kade on what casual with a twist means, he's walking away. I'm left standing alone and confused, yet it felt like a normality now. Kade wasn't going to be helpful so it wouldn't be my fault if I embarrassed his girlfriend.
Heading to the bedroom, I walk inside and head towards the wardrobe. I look through all of the clothing now hanging up to find something to wear. I consider different dresses, pants, and nice shirts to pair up together before I flop on the ground and give up.
I grab my phone and look through Alessia's social media to find out what her usual style is. I'd briefly looked through images of Alessia before, but I'd never really paid attention to clothing style. After looking through so many images, I decided to go with the jeans and crop top look.
I find a pair of black leather looking jeans and pair it with a white tank top which has spaghetti straps and a pretty floral pattern. I team this outfit up with a badass leather jacket and a pair of ankle boots along with golden accessories.
When I'm dressed, I head into the bathroom to do my make-up. I struggle like hell to do the black wing look, so I clean my face off and try something a little simpler. I use a golden brown eyeshadow, and a thick coat of mascara for the doe-eyed look. I continue the edgy look with a bold red lip colour.
See, that's not too hard. It's casual yet edgy. I don't think it'll suit Kade's sharp appearance with his suits, which kind of makes me happy. If Kade wasn't going to help, I'd just be a little difficult.
When I'm completely ready, I grab my bag and walk down the hall. As I get to the entrance, I see Kade walking out of his office. He's dressed in a pair of black slacks and a formal dark blue blouse which gives a casual look with the open button top.
I have to shake my head. No, I couldn't think about how good he looked dressed up, even if I wanted to. Kade's supposed to be my boss, heck, I'm even impersonating his girlfriend who he obviously loves. But damn, he looks sexy.
"Ready to go?" I innocently ask.
"Yeah." When Kade looks up from his phone, he's quickly taken back by my appearance. A sly, yet cheeky grin consumes his face, which sends me buzzing with excitement. "Casual with a twist, impressive," he compliments.
"Business with a splash of fun, also impressive," I shoot back.
"I try." He chuckles.
"Do we take photos now?" I ask.
"Oh, right, yes." Kade takes out his phone and opens up the camera app. I step towards Kade and smile with a slight tilt to my head. He takes a serious image of us looking cute before I poke my tongue out and make silly faces. Once we've taken a handful of images, Kade and I walk towards the elevator.
"Are you posting those online?" I ask.
"I'm going to send them to Alessia's publics and she'll take care of it for now."
"For now?" I question.
"I was hoping you'd take on that role with the help of Jenna," explains Kade.
"I feel like I've just unlocked another level." I giggle. "What happens after this, do I get her car too?" Kade shakes his head and frowns.
"Would you like that?"
"Depends, does she drive a fast car? Though, I see her as the kind to have some kind of dainty sport car." I pout. "Does Alessia have fun?"
"Be nice," warns Kade. "And I'm not going to tell you the car model."
"Dainty sport car it is." I laugh.
Kade and I get inside the elevator and he pushes the buttons to get it moving. The doors close and I mentally attempt to remind myself, I'm no longer Lydia Thompson, now I'm Alessia Louis, Kade Taylor's girlfriend. I'll probably have to hold his hand now . . .
