PART 5.. fanficparker

Repeated honking of car horns was making Harrison beyond annoyed. He could feel the blood boiling, rushing through his veins but the tinge of sadness and tons of guilt wasn't allowing him to scream. He was trying his best to drive properly and faster but whenever his feet pushed the accelerator a bit harder, he felt extremely dizzy and found himself losing control over the vehicle. He continued to drive slower than what he should as per the current traffic flow, trying to ignore the honking sounds and people rambling about his driving.

He should be at the celebration of the completion of the project, but here he was, parking his car at the completely opposite part of the city. He rushed out of his car and pressed the doorbell three times one after the other. He was continuously tapping his foot on the pavement while his fingers combed through his hair of what seemed like the 154th time which was now completely dishevelled. It was barely five seconds but he was already ready to turn and leave until he heard the clicking sound of the door unlocking. His hands dropped back near his waist, clammy with sweat while his heart pondered inside his chest.

Damn, he shouldn't be here.

But it was too late to exit now. The door opened and his blue eyes met another set of blue eyes. The woman's lips curved into a little smile seeing Harrison, but when she looked at his droopy, tired eyes, her smile flattened. She stared at his eyes for a long minute and in the next minute, the smile on her lips returned. Harrison slightly quirked his eyebrows at her rapidly changing expressions, but the little smile persisted making him more confused. Her words were almost like a whisper but so powerful that everything in him couldn't resist the energy they carried.

"It's okay to cry, Hazza."

And there he was, his arms tightly wrapped around his mum's smaller figure, head resting on her shoulder. He wasn't expecting to cry but when the first tear rolled down his cheek, he couldn't stop the unbroken stream that followed. His lips parted lightly with every sob he failed to contain.

"It's okay to cry, Haz." His mum repeated, running her fingers through his curls while the other palm rubbed his back. Harrison clenched his eyes shut, letting the tears flow free. He wasn't feeling weak as he expected rather it was the first time in years, he felt honest.

"Mom... Am I... really... that bad?" He spoke in between sobs that almost resembled suffocating hiccups.

"You were just bad for yourself."

Harrison squeezed his eyes even tighter, inhaling sharply through his nose. It was evident he couldn't understand what Phil meant. How can he be bad to himself? He just remembers him being bad... worse to his family, friends and even Y/n who had nothing to do with his life and yet he did nothing but hurt her. He wanted his mum to explain her words but he definitely lacked any energy or intention to ask for the clarification. So instead he focused on stabilizing his breath slowly as Phil whispered small 'breathe in and breathe outs' in her son's ear while rubbing his back.

"Tom, Tuwaine, Harry, Sam everyone... Everyone I love and care about, I hurt all of them. They hate me. Everyone hates me." His voice was dry and hoarse, but at least he was no more suffocating.

"No, they don't hate you, believe me. They are just upset." She told softly.

"But---"

"You know Haz..." She interrupted and tapped his back, separating from the embrace. Harrison's eyes were now dry and his breathing was much steadier, although his cheeks were still stained with tears.

His mother continued, "It's like you were missing for years, but you are back. I missed you so much." She finished, wiping up his son's tears.

"I am sorry." He said softly.

"Don't be, I am just thankful to whoever made you realise."

Harrison produced a small sad smile and nodded his head. He had fucked up here too.

"Don't think much, just come in. I made fresh brownies."

// 2 MONTHS LATER //

"Harrison, you can't just stay at home all the time," Phil shouted the thousandth time in just the span of two months.

"It's my vacation mom!" He replied, lazily.

"And that means, going out, enjoying stuff, get some company, find a girl - boy whatever you demand, but just get out of here. It's depressing to see you here sitting at one place all the time." Phil switched off the television, making Harrison groan lightly.

"I don't want to," He replied blandly, closing his eyes as his head rested on the headrest of the sofa.

"Jerry is finally throwing his wedding reception this month and I told him you'll be attending," Phil stated, folding her arms to her chest.

"But he lives in Australia--"

"I know that's why I booked the tickets. You are going there and that too for two weeks. Get off this laziness, meet new people, make friends, get a hookup. I don't care, just get your ass out of this place."

Harrison's jaw fell slack, he didn't know what to answer. He had planned to 'hide' in his house till he gets a new project but now...

"Pack your bags, you're leaving this Sunday..."

"But mom-"

"I am hearing no excuses." And Phil went to her room. Harrison growled tossing his phone aside in annoyance. He wished Sunday never comes but alas it was just three days ahead.

And time flies way faster when you wanted it otherwise.

Harrison helped the driver load his bag and suitcase in the cab's trunk. He sat inside the cab sighing deeply. He remembered pouting in front of his mother, his lips forming the legendary reversed 'U' but alas he only received an eye roll from Phil. And thereby he was now travelling to his hotel from the airport because there were thirteen days to Jerry's birthday. Sigh. His mom was really intimidating something.

What's he gonna do all these days alone in a place far away from his home? Yeah, at least here he can roam freely, unafraid of crossing paths with any of the person he treated unfairly. His posture straightened at the thought. And now coming to Australia didn't seem like a bad deal. He took out his phone and plucked in his earphones, blasting some good old rock music. He covered his eyes with his sunglasses waiting for his destination to arrive.

Humming to the music, eyes closed, his body jerked forward as the car came to a halt. He thought the hotel was farther. He removed his earphones sensing a woman talking to the driver, realizing he was still far away from the hotel.

"There's a problem with the engine of my taxi. And I am now stuck in the highway. Any chances I could get a lift? I'll pay for it. And my phone's dead too, I am really helpless at this point."

"Ma'am I could have helped but I am already with a passenger." Harrison heard the driver reply.

"Oh," The voice seemed sad and maybe the driver too sensed it too.

"Maybe you can ask the traveller, if he says yes, I have no problem helping you," The driver replied. Harrison removed his shades hearing a small knock to his window. He rolled the windows down to meet with the intruder.

"Harrison."

"Y/n."

Oh.
