Chapter Five
Jungkook isn't sure how long he and Yoongi have been sat in the car, but apparently it's been long enough for the two exes to reach some sort of middle ground because when the two figures are closer it is quickly made clear that it is Hoseok and Jimin.
When the two approach the driver's side window, Yoongi lowers it.
Hoseok and Jimin both lean down enough so that they can both look into the car.
"Would you be able to give Jungkookie a ride home, hyung?" Jimin asks, looking between Yoongi and Jungkook.
Jungkook meets his eyes for a moment before looking down at where Jimin's shoulder is pressed against Hoseok's.
Jungkook's brows raise slightly as he looks back up to Jimin's eyes.
Jimin just shrugs as if it isn't an unexpected sight to be seeing after the fight they'd all just witnessed, before looking back at Yoongi.
"Tae is inside hanging out with Joonie and he said he'll take Tae home later."
Yoongi smiles crookedly. "And if I'm doing the same for Jungkook, I assume you'll be getting Hobi home when the time comes?"
"Of course." Jimin smiles, sweet and genuine.
Yoongi smiles up at them. "Alright. Have a good night you two."
"You too, both of you," Hoseok speaks up, smile on his face apologetic. "And, I'm sorry for what I said before. I just- I saw you both and out there and I-"
"Hoba, you don't have to apologize. I would have reacted the same way if I were in your position," Yoongi assures.
"It was all just a big misunderstanding," Jungkook comments. "But I'm glad it's cleared up now and you two are ready to talk...?"
He says the last part as more of a question, which Jimin addresses as such.
"Yeah. It's about time I'd say," Hoseok says resolutely, turning to Jimin. "I have a lot of explaining and groveling to do."
After a couple more 'good lucks' and 'good nights' are exchanged, Hoseok and Jimin head off in the direction of Jimin's car, leaving Yoongi and Jungkook alone again where Yoongi is parked across the street from the house.
"Are you okay with me taking you home?" Yoongi asks once the two are out of sight.
"Absolutely," Jungkook smiles.
"Good to hear," Yoongi answers, sounding equally as pleased.
It's quiet again after that, not awkwardly so, but for long enough that they both are in their own heads trying to sort out what to talk about next.
"I was wondering-" Yoongi begins at the same time Jungkook says "Would you maybe-"
"Sorry, what were you going to say?" Jungkook smiles over at him.
"I was just going to ask if you were hungry. We can go back inside if you want, but I could go for some food if you're up for it."
"Oh, definitely not," Jungkook says quickly. Firmly.
Yoongi's shoulders fall as he looks away from Jungkook, obviously caught off guard.
"O-oh, yeah no. Sorry. We don't have to leave. I was just... We can stay... Sorry." Yoongi stammers.
Jungkook's brows knit together as he looks at him before it dons on him.
"Oh, no! I meant I don't want to go back into the party. I'd love to get food with you."
Yoongi's expression brightens, smile returning, bright and happy. "I take it you weren't the one to bring up coming here tonight?"
"Absolutely not. Like you said earlier, Tae never turns down a party. Neither does Jimin. If it were up to me I'd be at home in my sweats and favorite hoodie, settled on the couch with my Xbox controller in hand and no plans of moving for several hours."
"Sounds like we have similar ideas when it comes to time well spent," Yoongi laughs. "Too bad our friends can't go one weekend without having some sort of ridiculous activity planned."
"What an exhausting way to live," Jungkook giggles, nose scrunching.
They laugh together for a beat or two before calming down, the atmosphere relaxing into something even more comfortable then before.
"It's been about forty minutes since my last drink," Yoongi voices. "Although, I only had one shot of Soju before the beer– the one I had when I saw you. I should be fine to drive if you're okay with that."
Jungkook nods, quick and excited. "Yeah, let's go!"
With that, Yoongi reaches to where he'd set the keys in the cup holder between them to start the car.
"That diner we'd first met at, it's open until two so we should get back to the city with plenty of time before closing. We could-" Yoongi suddenly cuts his sentence short and when Jungkook looks over at him, he is drumming his fingers on his thigh as he stares at the digital clock on the dash.
"We could..?" Jungkook begins, hoping Yoongi will finish.
Yoongi gulps, looking over at Jungkook through his lashes with reddening cheeks.
"I noticed before you had a, um, banana milkshake? Right?"
Jungkook beams, giddy that Yoongi had noticed something as seemingly mundane as what Jungkook had been eating– or drinking, in this case– that day.
"That's right," he smiles softly, heart swelling alarmingly fast in his chest.
"I was thinking we could order a couple of those..." Yoongi smiles shyly.
"Sounds great," Jungkook giggles, unable to conceal anymore of his anticipation as he clicks on his seatbelt.
"Perfect." Yoongi grins, pulling his own seatbelt across his chest, clicking it into place.
Moments later he puts the car in drive before pulling onto the street to head out of the suburbs and back to the city.
Forty-five minutes later, after they've placed their order with the waitress, Yoongi rests his eyes on Jungkook across the table from him, eyes sparkling with fondness.
"I'm glad you got talked into coming to that party, Jungkook. I like hanging out with you."
"I'm glad too," Jungkook grins and he wouldn't admit it to Taehyung any time soon, but it's the truth. Hell, he's even a little thankful for Jimin and his lie.
"I'm especially glad you don't actually have a boyfriend," Yoongi quips with a lopsided smile.
Feeling a little bold– likely due to the continuous high Jungkook feels when he has Yoongi's attention on him– Jungkook smirks right back, saying in a cheeky tone, "I'm hoping that'll change soon."
Yoongi smiles crookedly in return. "I'll see what I can do."
.......
It's weeks later when a euphoric, heated make-out session between Jungkook and Yoongi– Yoongi being nearly dumped backwards off of Jungkook's lap due to the jump scare– that the two are interrupted again.
"Yoongi-ah! You're supposed to put a tie on your door if you have company! That's the rule," the man whines dramatically, "or did you forget all about roommate etiquette in the time that I've been gone."
"Must have slipped my mind," Yoongi comments halfheartedly, trying to steady his breath as he climbs off of Jungkook's lap to sit next to him on the bed.
"And who is this guest of yours?"
"Right!" Yoongi smiles happily, looking from Jungkook to the man in the doorway, "Kookie, this is Jin, my roommate-"
"His incredibly handsome, most trusted, angelic friend and hyung, he means," Jin interjects while Yoongi continues, unperturbed.
"This is Jungkook, my-"
"Boyfriend," Jungkook beams, looking around Yoongi at the man still stood in the doorway. "I'm Yoongi's boyfriend. It's nice to meet you."
Jin gasps. "Boyfriend? I've only been gone two months... That's eight weeks! When the hell did this all happen?!"
"During the last eight week." Yoongi deadpans.
Jin rolls his eyes. "Lucky for you, I have nothing planned for tonight so I want to hear all about your little love story. Let's order some take out because I'm starving then we can have an impromptu offline mukbang."
"Isn't an offline mukbang just a regular meal?" Yoongi furrows his brows.
"I'll get the menu options pulled up," Jin comments in return.
He doesn't wait for either of them to actually agree or disagree on eating together, just turns around, leaving abruptly.
Lucky for us? Jungkook chuckles.
Food did sound good though. It's been a while since he'd eaten last.
When Jin has left, Yoongi turns to Jungkook with one brow raised and a pleased smile.
"Yoongi's boyfriend, huh?"
"Well, yeah! I know we only made it official yesterday but that's the first time I've been able to introduce myself as your boyfriend. I couldn't just let the opportunity pass by."
Yoongi laughs, eyes fond as they gaze into Jungkook's.
"Not the first time you've been introduced as a boyfriend though," Yoongi teases, standing up from the bed before pulling Jungkook up onto his feet as well before he turns towards the door.
"The first time it's been the truth," Jungkook giggles, wrapping his arms around Yoongi's waist as he places a kiss on his cheek.
Yoongi turns to face Jungkook, wrapping his arms around his neck to pull him in for a proper kiss.
"Yoongi hurry up, I'm starving!" Jin yells from somewhere in the apartment, presumably the living room.
"Are we going to tell him how we really met? Like, everything?" Jungkook asks. "I don't care either way, I'm just wondering."
"Better he hear the real story than whatever abridged version Hobi and Jimin come up with," Yoongi answers, leading Jungkook by the hand out into the apartment.
"Jeon Jungkook and Min Yoongi; from fake love to real love. It's a story for the ages. Very offline mukbang worthy." Jungkook giggles, nose scrunched happily.
"Fake love?"
"Fake love with my fake ex; real love with you," Jungkook looks over at Yoongi.
Yoongi laces their fingers together, bringing Jungkook's hand to his lips, placing a kiss on his knuckles.
"Real love indeed," he smiles softly.
