Chapter 12
When Casper woke up he felt oddly rested. As if he had a little bit more sleep than usual. He probably did. Maybe he should consider a career as alcoholic. Or maybe not.
The other half of the bed was still warm. Thatch's shirt was laying on the ground, next to Casper's hoodie. Nothing had happened. Except for kissing of course.
But yet his (fake) boyfriend was gone. Maybe in the bathroom? He layed back for a moment looking at the sealing. Maybe being in love with Thatch wasn't such a bad thing after all. The vampire didn't seem to dislike it.
„Hey, hey it will be okay. Calm down." Thatch said calmly. Casper sat up. So the vampire wasn't in the bathroom. He noticed the main door which wasn't entirely closed. Only slightly. The ghost didn't recognize the sobbing.
He got up and slowly walked towards the door. He could look trough the part the door didn't hide.
It was Dummy Girl who was sobbing. Casper had never seen Dummy even remotely sad. And seeing her crying was like reality being broken.
Thatch had his arms around her. She had hidden her face in his chest. The vampire listened carefully while her sobs slowly became quieter. „Listen, You're one of the strongest creatures I know. You will grow over that. I promise." he reassured in a calm voice that the ghost had never heared before.
The doll could only nod. She didn't seem to believe it. „Just Wait. He'll calm down." Thatch promised. The vampire took her face in both hands and kissed her forehead. Something that hurt in Casper's nonexistent heart a lot.
That shouldn't have hurt him but it did. Thatch obviously liked Dummy, a lot. He was so soft around her. So careful. How was Casper supposed to compeat with that?
It was like it always was. Everyone had this person that fitted them and Casper again wasn't it. That happened with Jimmy, with Mantha, Kat, Chris, Wendy and finally with Thatch.
The ghost was mentally slapping himself. How could he even think about beeing more than just a friend. Some people just weren't made to be in a romantic relationship.
„Thanks Thatch. You helped me a lot." Dummy smiled, her voice was still a little bit shivery. „Anytime." She left after kissing him on the cheek.
Casper paniced when he saw the door opening. Thatch himself flinched when he noticed the ghost. „Oh You're awake." he sighed, to calm down. „Uhm yeah I am." the ghost muttered.
The vampire leaned forward until the tips of their noses met. Casper blushed. „You have some lipstick on your cheek." He choughed. Thatch seemed to be caught of guard. „Uhm yeah..." he left the position to step into the bathroom. „For fucks sake Dummy." he muttered trying to wash it off.
„Speaking of which, is she okay?" The ghost asked. Thatch brushed it off. „Yeah she'll live." He was using Ra's towel to rub the red color off his cheek. „Good, good." Casper smiled or at least he tryed to.
The vampire stepped out of the bathroom. „As clean as always." He joked before approaching Casper again. This time he pulled the ghost closer. Before their lips could touch the door flung open. „Yo I'am back!" Ra announced. „Actually we're kind of bus-"
Casper was never happier that Ra wasn't one or knock before entering the room. „Welcome back Ra." he sighed in relief. The Mummy sat down on his sarcophagus „Okay dude, I need to tell you what happened yesterday. We met Frankie and-" The ghost tryed to listen to Ra but he could feel Thatch scanning him. In a bad way.
The vampire was anything but stupid. He must at least figured out that something was off. Especially since Casper didn't let the kiss happen, which was with someone else in the room. The only time these two were supposed to kiss.
Sadly Thatch wasn't one to wait until Ra finished his story. Almost agressively he grabbed Casper's hoodie from the floor and pushed it into his hands. „We need to talk." he hissed and pulled the ghost along while he was nervously pulling the top over his head. „Ohh trouble in paradise?" Ra joked but he didn't get an answer other than the door being closed rather angrily.
„Thatch I can explain-." Casper was trying to say but the vampire continued to pull him along, to a more private place maybe. And he indeed did. The boy's locker room.
„Speak." he hissed.
Okay. Maybe he lied, he couldn't explain. „I- uhm- Whe..." He stuttered. „What? What is up your ass? Everything was fine yesterday and now you're super uptight all of the sudden." Casper sighed.
The ghost cleared his throat. „This wasn't a good idea." he muttered. He knew this would hurt but Thatch was obviously happier with someone else. It would be selfish to keep him away from that. „What?" Thatch asked again, knowing the answer. „Everything, this whole time, this fake dating... yesterday." he sighed. „We shouldn't have done that. In a relationship the Partner should be the best possible option. You're a good guy and-" Casper couldn't finish, he was pushed against one of the lockers.
„Are you fucking kidding me?" Thatch yelled grabbing him by the collar. „You're telling me this after we've been lying for three weeks or something?" Casper narrowed his eyes. „That whole thing was your idea from the beginning!" The ghost snapped. „You never had to take part in it." Thatch hissed.
Casper could see the anger in Thatch's eyes. He never had been this angry with him. But he had seen that before and he knew where.
The vampire did let go of him. Fixing his hair in an attempt to calm down, before punching the locker right next to Casper's face. He stumbled back as he held his fist slightly bleeding. „Are you okay?" Casper asked worried. „Don't- Don't talk to me." he hissed before leaving the locker rooms.
His sight got blurry. This was all his fault. He shouldn't have gone to that party- he just he shouldn't have done that whole fake dating thing. He slid down sitting on the floor. He wanted to avoid Thatch so he waited. The vampire would grow over it and Casper was sure he'd find the perfect one sooner or later. Someone with kissing skills and someone who wasn't mentally broken to their core.
Thatch's steps and cursing got out of his hearing so he decided it was the best to go back to his room.
Ra was gone. Thank god. Casper fell head first into his mattress. He immediately began sobbing. He didn't deserve to cry but he couldn't help it. The tears and sobs just left his body, echoing into the pillow.
He didn't know how long it took him to lose the ability to cry but it sure took a while. Now he just layed there. Rethinking what he had said over and over again. He never would have thought that Thatch would he do hurt by his words. Sure he wasn't used to rejection but it wasn't even his fault, it was Casper's.
A knock on the door. So it wasn't Ra. Casper thought of pretending to not being there but after the second knock he couldn't handle his own lie.
He roled from the bed and scuffed to the door. Mantha and Ra. „Oh hey guys-" he got cut off. „Casp they have pudding for desert!" Ra gasped. „Wh-What?" he asked confused and tired. „Pudding, come on we need to go!" Mantha huffed. Casper wasn't hungry not at all. But he was to tried to argue back.
He rubbed his eyes before the three entered the dining hall. It was full, for Sunday after party standards. They all grabbed a pudding, Casper handing his over to Ra.
They sat down. It was loud too loud for Casper's taste. How were Ra and Mantha so energetic, while he was on the verge of losing his mind. They were laughing and giggling about something. Everyone was talking about yesterday. Yesterday probably has been the night of their afterlife's or something.
Casper layed his head on the table and trew his hood over his head. Ra and Mantha didn't seem to notice. Or they were about to say something when the microphone of the headmaster's office crackled. An announcement?
He was ready to not listen when it was his own voice. Stuttering into the microphone. Played from a shitty phone. Casper sat up straight. Suddenly it was all quiet. Their whole lockerroom conversation was played out. Who could have? The ghost looked around. No Thatch in sight. He didn't-
„Casp is that true?" Ra asked and the ghost was taken back to reality. He saw the pain in his best friend's eyes. Ra never had looked at him like that or anyone in fact. „How could you lie to us like that?" Mantha yelled. She had jumped up. The anger in her eyes was obvious. The ghost couldn't say anything. His head was empty and full at the same time.
Mantha's hand's slammed onto the table. „Say something for fuck's sake!" This look, the same that Jimmy had given him. Casper opened his mouth but no words were coming out. The zombie threw her pudding bowl at Casper, barely missing him . „What the fuck is wrong with you." she screamed before stomping away. Ra looked at him with disappointment before he was following after Mantha.
The ghost could feel all the other people staring at him. Their looks were burning. He knew exactly what they were thinking and it was Thatch's fault. Suddenly he got up and poofed away.
He didn't bother to knock at Thatch's door. He just flew right trough it. With all his strength he pushed the vampire against the wall. „Why did you do that! I get it you hate me but this is going too far!" Casper screamed he had nothing to be calm for.
„Fuck off I didn't do anything. I'm not stupid. Why should I do that!" Thatch yelled back whilst pushing Casper back. „Because you're an asshole who does anything to ruin my life!" the ghost yelled, this one came from deep down, something stuck from like three years ago. „You're the one ruining life's all while pretending to be the nice one. Guess what! Your tactic didn't work. Now your friends hate you. All of them!" The vampire countered. „Shut up." the blue eyed boy screamed before punching Thatch right on in the face.
It hadn't been a hard punch. Casper still wasn't the strongest but Thatch's lip was indeed bleeding. „You better leave before you regret this." The vampire hissed. Grabbing the ghosts collar. The two glared at each other before Thatch let him fall to the ground.
Thatch passed him and disappeared in the bathroom. Casper clenched his fist before leaving.
He entered his room. It was empty. Thank god it was. He grabbed his phone he hadn't taken it to dinner. He shoved it into his pocket before noticeing Thatch's shirt. He hadn't taken it with him. He lifted it.
The ghost had been sure he wasn't able to cry anymore but turns out he was once again wrong. He always was wrong. It was obvious that he would have ruined his friendships he always did one way or the other. Maybe he wasn't supposed to have friends after all.
