~Do you remember when I said I'll always be there?
Ever since we were ten~

There was a time when we were inseparable... Maori and Cheren Nakashima, I always dreamed of the moment. You were like family, my mother loved you, my dad who lived a million miles away loved you too, as well as my younger brother Ethan. I had hoped and planned for our future together... that was until you came with your mother to our house one evening in late summer of 9th grade, we were about to go into sophomore year. You brandished a sad smile and grabbed my hand then you opened your mouth and broke my heart...
"Cher? My mom and I are going back to Korea to live with my dad and grandma in Seoul... mama says she doesn't know when we're gonna come back, you'll wait for me... right?"
"Yes! I definately will, you can count on it."
"Thank you! I can't wait to see you again. I'm... I'm going to miss you Cher."
No, the question is, will you wait for me? That day she left in tears with a bright smile on her face as our moms said their sad good byes. The last thing she left me was a note that she said I should open when she was on the plane. After that, I searched for my best sketches and finished off the portfolio with markers. I had dreamed of becoming an artist but I didn't want to leave her without anything to remember me by.
On the day, I grabbed my art which was wrapped in gift wrapping paper and got in the car with her and our moms, no words were heard for the duration of the car ride. Then we finally reached the airport, it was there that the tears started again, the feeling of assurance that the time has come and they must leave is the most painful part of it all, that is why my worst places ever are the airports. We walked with them until they had to cross screening and security checks. No one wanted to move. She pulled me in for a tight hug and cried unto my shoulder. I patted her back and fought back my own tears. I gave her the portfolio and she gave me her favorite plush figure, then time moved way to fast and before I knew it, they were gone and my mom was leading me away back to the car. I entered the passenger seat and stared out the window as she climbed in and buckled us both.
"Mom... it was for the best right?"
She gave my hand a soft squeeze and replied me
"Yes Cheren, it had to be done."
I kept quiet and turned back to the window, watching the trees and other cars alike rush past in a blur, it was then that I realized I was crying. I was crying because she was gone. I was crying because she was never coming back. I was crying because I never got to tell her how I felt. I left it all in the Past.
A/N
Okay, so brief first chapter, how was it? There's more coming up so if it wasn't that good, don't worry, I'm still improving.
