"And then he said those three special words, "I just farted."
Noah
'Yes, she's fine now' I read that message once more and put the phone back in my pocket. Hopefully, Emma is doing okay because she didn't look too fine in the morning. It was upsetting to see the worried look on Lexy's face when she saw Emma. This morning was not the best and I know exactly what may make it better.
"Josh, can you come over to my house at 7?" I ask and invite them over to my house to have a boys night? I don't know but isn't that what girls call it: 'girls night'.
"Wait, there's a party at DJ's house today. Remember? ," He asks and that's when I remember about the party.
"How could have I forgotten? I will be there in 10."
When I arrive at DJ's house, the party has already started. DJ which doesn't stand for disco jockey. It actually stands for Dave Junior. Yes, his Dad's name is also Dave. I wonder if my parents named me my Dad's name. My name will actually be Jason Junior so JJ. Sounds pretty cool but I'm very satisfied with my current name.
Immediately when I walk into the room, Josh comes over and gives me a man hug. We walk into the kitchen while laughing at the fact that I forgot about this party.
Gabe was giving out drinks so I get one and as I quickly scan through the room to see who else is here, I was surprised to see Elle there. I forgot that she would be here. There was a guy next to her who was touching her in all the inappropriate places but she was enjoying it. I don't know how I managed to be with her for so long. She quickly noticed me staring and stood up and walked over to me.
"Hey, Noah," she says and bats her fake eyelashes
"Um, hey," I say awkwardly. Why did she even have to come and talk to me? This is so uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry for breaking up with you. I hope that you are not coping badly with it," she fake sighs.
I give a single laugh, "Coping with what? I have already moved on. I'm getting married in a week."
Her eyes widen as she gasps, "What? You are so disgusting. No matter which girl you are getting married to, I know that you will never be able to forget me. Only a stupid girl will agree to get married to you."
"I will definitely forget about you because my fiancé is the best thing that has happened to me," I say without even getting mad because I know that it's not worth it.
Walking towards Josh, who is in the living room, I see a familiar face walking into the room. It's Emma so that means Lexy is here too.
"Why are they here," I ask Josh. "It is not that I don't want them here but who invited them?"
"Me. I had to invite your fiancé so that everyone can get to know her."
I look over my shoulder to see that Gabe is already pouring out drinks for them. I jog towards them and say, "Hey."
"Ah, there you are. Lexy was worried that Josh just tricked us into coming here," Emma babbles. She seems fine and full of energy like usual.
Lexy smiles at me and for some reason, I take a step forward and give her a hug. She was taken aback at first but quickly hugs me back. It's not sexual whatsoever. Just a comforting hug because she kind of made me understand that Elle was not a good person. She didn't say anything bad about her but she showed me what it is to be a good person and friend.
The rest of the night was better than expected with Lexy and Emma around. I introduced them to my friends and they are more than excited for our wedding.
"Yeah, I proposed last week. I was planning on coming there next week. Is that fine?" I ask Dad.
It's been a few days since I saw Lexy at the party. I was calling Dad and confirming the date we could go there for the wedding.
"Mum is already making food for your arrival, son. Any time is the best time to come here," Dad answers enthusiastically.
"So we'll come there on Friday."
"We can't wait to see our Lexy," I could hear the excitement in his voice and I knew that their expectations will be fulfilled when they meet Lexy because she is just so likeable.
"She can't wait to see you either," I say, although I'm not sure about that statement because she never said anything like that yet to me.
I call Lexy right after I get off the call with Dad, "Hey Lexy."
"Hey Fiancé," I could hear her giggling and I smile.
"So I just called Dad and he said we could go there on Friday. Is that fine with you?"
"No problem," she responds.
"What are you up to?"
"Having lunch and you?"
"Calling you, just kidding. I'm not doing much. Anything interesting that happened at school today?
"Oh, this kid ate orange playdoh thinking it would taste like an orange. He spat it out immediately screaming, "It tastes salty!" This basically summarises my life as a second-grade teacher," she laughs.
" I would have loved to see that in person. Probably, would have died laughing if I saw a kid doing that. Kids are the funniest."
"They are funny because of their stupidity but don't tell them that," she whispers as though the kids can hear her but immediately blurts, "I gotta go now. Lunchtime is over."
"I'll pick you up on Friday after school. Bye and tell your kids that your fiancé said hi."
"I will do that for sure," She chuckles and cuts the call.
I lean into my chair and think about our wedding. It's going to be a blast.
