Chapter 5

1199 words

Ever since Hoshi found out that Wonwoo and Mingyu spent time together at the party, he has been teasing Wonwoo about Mingyu. And he doesn't even know everything that went on with the two boys - if he did, it would be the end of Wonwoo.

("What? So are you saying that Mingyu isn't attractive? And-"

"What? No, I never said that? He's re-, ok, listen. There's nothing going on between the two of us. We don't even know each other!"

"But... you do want to get to know each other?" Hoshi smirks.

"Yeah, of course! Well, at least I do, I don't know about him."

"So... you do admit that you're interested of him? Aw, our Woonie got a crush!!"

"Hoshi, what! No! I never said that?"

"Oh, don't you even try to fool me. I see how you look at him! WOONIE IS IN LOOOVE!"

"What..."

"And I've noticed that Mingyu looks at you in a similar way. WE HAVE A PERFECT MATCH!"

"Oh, shut up!" Wonwoo deadpans, trying to ignore the way his heart skips a beat and how he gets a bit hopeful. There's no way Mingyu could actually be interested in him.

Hoshi inhales dramatically, clutching his hand to his chest, "Oh, you two are so in the 'we-are-just-trying-to-fool-ourselves-that-there's-nothing-going-on-between-us-although-we-are-so-thirsty-for-each-other' zone yet! Don't worry, you'll get to the next phase soon enough," he winks.

"What the actual fuck man..." Wonwoo mutters, embarrassed, and quickly turns his head back to the math book in front of him, observing it as if he would have gotten so interested of math suddenly.)

Wonwoo had tried to explain Hoshi that, no he does not have a crush on Mingyu, and it's kind of true; he barely even knows Mingyu, how could he even have a crush on him? But he's not going to admit that he'd be ready to do everything in order to get to know him better despite his miserable state after the 'incident' at the party.

Wonwoo feels still quite uncomfortable and awkward around Mingyu as he practically run away from Mingyu that night. He's sort of relieved that they haven't had a chance to talk about it alone, but at the same time it keeps bugging him and he feels like he should at least explain himself somehow to Mingyu.

He's unable to relax completely around Mingyu, and so it's making it difficult for him to get to know Mingyu better. And, it's really making his schooling a lot harder. Or, in general, his whole life. He really should talk to Mingyu.

But it's kind of hard to do and Wonwoo doesn't even know what he could say. Maybe he'll just say that he needed to go to puke - so charming

His encounters with Mingyu have all been embarrassing so far, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Like a day ago, when he and Hoshi run into Mingyu at the school again; Wonwoo actually didn't get a single rational sentence out of his mouth. He kept stuttering and saying the stupidest things he could come up with. Or at least that's what Wonwoo felt like.

"Oh hey, baby boy! Daydreaming about a certain one?" Hoshi teases in his normal way, as he sits down on the seat next to Wonwoo at the library. Wonwoo doesn't even flinch, as he has long time ago gotten used to Hoshi's behavior.

"Aw, c'mon. I know what you're thinking," Hoshi smirks slyly, elbowing Wonwoo who still looks unaffected, "I saw you spacing out. Can't even focus on studies as you're so infatuated by your lover?"

Wonwoo actually turns to glare at Hoshi at that, but the look on his face changes abruptly as he sees who's practically behind Hoshi.

"Hey! Who are you talking about? Is Wonwoo in a relationship?" Mingyu asks as he takes a seat to himself next to the two boys.

"Oh, hi Mingyu!" Hoshi smirks knowingly at Wonwoo, getting up from his seat and signals for Mingyu to sit next to Wonwoo as he himself settles for the seat opposite the two other boys. Wonwoo has to do everything to prevent himself from casting another angry look at Hoshi.

"Hey," Mingyu smiles, and sits down next to Wonwoo. Wonwoo smells the sweet scent of Mingyu immediately.

"Hello," Wonwoo answers, his lips automatically crawling upwards upon seeing Mingyu.

"Wonwoo in a relationship?" Hoshi snickers, "Nope, not even close. He's as single as a pringle," he jokes, and Wonwoo just rolls his eyes at his words.

"Oh, well... How about you then?" Mingyu asks, turning his attention to Hoshi, "How are things going on with Seokmin?"

Hoshi blushes at that, "How did you hear-, I mean, why would do think that?" he stammers, making Mingyu laugh, which again causes Wonwoo's smile to spread.

"Oh, I know everything," Mingyu winks, and Hoshi just blushes even more, causing Mingyu to chuckle again.

"You know what, I actually need to go take care of this... thing I have to take care of..." Hoshi mutters, grimacing at his own words, "Seeya!" he bids quickly, getting up and not even waiting for Mingyu and Wonwoo to answer.

Mingyu chuckles, "I don't get it why he tries to even hide his crush for Seokmin. As if everyone wouldn't have noticed already."

Wonwoo chuckles, and then clears his throat after Mingyu doesn't say anything anymore, "You know, I actually wanted to tell you one thing... Do you happen to remember the events of the night when we met?"

"Of course I do, I wasn't that drunk," he smiles, "Well... at least I remember most of it. Why?"

"Well, then you might remember how I just run away and disappeared suddenly."

"Yeah, I do. What about it?" Mingyu urges for Wonwoo to go on.

"Well, I got nauseous and... I kinda didn't want to throw up all over you," Wonwoo lies smoothly, and Mingyu buys it perfectly, "I didn't mean to just ditch you like that."

"It's totally okay, don't worry," Mingyu smiles, "I understand. Did you get home safe?"

Wonwoo smiles. Mingyu is so damn cute.

"Yeah, I did. How did the rest of the night go?"

And Mingyu tells funny things that happened at the party after Wonwoo left (making Wonwoo wish that he hadn't left at all) and they laugh at many stupid things Mingyu and other students did.

Wonwoo has to admit to himself that explaining himself to Mingyu wasn't even that bad - although it was not really the truth - and that he could've done that a lot sooner. He just tends to overthink often.

He still feels a bit weird that they're both brushing off the fact that they were all over each other that night. He doesn't mind it though, as long as they're cool and Wonwoo can finally get to know Mingyu better.

"Wanna ditch that boring book for now and come get coffee with me?" Mingyu asks, motioning towards the book in Wonwoo's hands which he had been reading before Hoshi and Mingyu appeared.

Wonwoo doesn't bother to argue that the 'boring book' happens to be everything but boring, and nods enthusiastically, because well, even Wonwoo's favorite book couldn't compete to Mingyu.
