Chapter 2

1853 words

Wonwoo is walking around the crowded house - and he has no idea who owns the house but he notes that the house is so damn huge and fancy. He's alone again, looking for a place to hide from Hoshi for few minutes. He managed to escape from him as some Seokmin guy appeared out of nowhere and sort of got Hoshi's full attention. Escaping Hoshi was extremely easy, as Hoshi and this Seokmin were totally infatuated with each other, and definitely eye-fucking and flirting not-so-imperceptibly.

Wonwoo spots few bean bags in the corner, partly hidden behind a huge plant. It looks a bit secluded and private compared to the other areas of the house. It's perfect for hiding. Wonwoo scampers to the corner and hides behind the plant, looking behind him to see if Hoshi or Seokmin saw him. He sits down on the comfortable bean bag and peeks from behind the plant, making sure that no one noticed him hide there.

Sudden jostle on Wonwoo's leg makes him jump startled, and he lets out a weird squeak. He turns around like a streak of lightning, and sees a guy next to him, sitting on the bean bag next to the one he's currently sitting on. How the hell did he not notice him before?

"Hey," The guy greets cheekily, clearly holding back his laughter.

"What the fuck?" Wonwoo asks, more to himself, but the guy hears it, despite the loud music playing.

"I know right. Why'd you come to my hide-out? You should find your own," The guy states, but smiles widely, eyes basically glowing.

"I'm sorry. I didn't see you there. Hi," Wonwoo apologizes, as he realizes how rude he seems.

"Don't worry. I was just joking," the guy laughs. His teeth are really white and perfect, Wonwoo notes. He actually seems to be flawless in every way. Nice haircut, sparkly eyes, smooth skin, cute smile and a turtle neck sweater which befits him so well. Well, shit.

"Why did you hide here? Are you running away from someone?" The good-looking guy eyes the crowd from behind the plant, as if to see someone looking for Wonwoo.

"Kinda," Wonwoo says. This whole situation is so weird that he feels like he has lost his ability to communicate. Well, it's not every day that Wonwoo is sitting in corner of a huge, fancy party house, hiding behind a plant, with some good-looking guy he doesn't even know the name of.

And as if the guy had read his mind, he asks: "by the way, what's your name?"

"Wonwoo," Wonwoo says, adding a small smile to appear a bit more of a human with manners and capacity to hold a conversation.

"Nice. I'm Mingyu."

_____

Turns out that Mingyu was hiding from his big sister, who had dared to drag Mingyu out of the party when she had noticed that he was here as well. And what surprises Wonwoo is that this guy is actually one year younger  than Wonwoo. He definitely didn't expect that since Wonwoo thinks Mingyu looks older than him. Also, they find out that they go to the same school. Wonwoo doesn't recall seeing Mingyu ever - and he knows that if he had ever seen him before, he would remember. Mingyu tells that he has just moved here recently.

The boys leave the corner after half an hour of sitting and talking. They seem to get along pretty well, which makes Wonwoo really happy. He doesn't really have that many friends and he was starting to feel a bit lonely at the party despite Hoshi. And Mingyu is not only good-looking but also really really really nice - Wonwoo is definitely not complaining.

"Do you want to get a drink?" Mingyu asks Wonwoo.

"Hmm... Not sure. I don't really drink much alcohol. I've never even been drunk since I've only tasted some drinks like a few times..." Wonwoo confesses.

"You've never ever, ever been drunk?" The look on Mingyu's face is comically surprised.

"No, I haven't..?" Wonwoo says, not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Mingyu raises his eyebrows, looking genuinely amused, "really?"

"Yeah... So, I guess you do drink alcohol?"

"Yes, sometimes," Mingyu nods, "okay, pretty often. I like parties," he adds, smirking, "but I haven't drunk anything today." Wonwoo nods and smiles to Mingyu.

"Weeell... I think it's time for you to experience the awesomeness of drunkness! Let's go!" Mingyu shouts, laughing and taking Wonwoo's hand, and starts making his way to the table of drinks. Wonwoo can not ignore the way Mingyu lets go of his hand only when they get to the drinks. Or how he enjoys the firm grip of Mingyu's hand, as the latter guides him through the crowd.

Few drinks later Mingyu and Wonwoo are standing near the drinks, both a little tipsy. They are talking about everything, even though it's a bit challenging with the loud music blasting from the huge speakers. To be honest, Wonwoo starts to feel pretty thankful towards Hoshi for dragging him to the party, although he'd never admit that to Hoshi.

Suddenly something catches Wonwoo's eyes, making him feel uneasy.

"Oh my god. Not today satan, not today," Wonwoo mutters, and Mingyu looks at him confused.

"Mingyu help me," Wonwoo squeals, clearly trying to hide from someone.

"What's wrong?" Mingyu asks concerned.

"There's this one girl that--, goddamn, I think she saw me," Wonwoo whines, "oh, she definitely saw me."

Mingyu turns around to look at the direction Wonwoo is staring wide-eyed at, and sees a gorgeous girl walking towards them, a beautiful smile on her face.

"Hey Wonwoo!" The girl greets cheerfully, and Wonwoo returns the greeting little less cheerfully.

"I didn't expect to see you here," the girl says to Wonwoo who just smiles awkwardly and nods, not saying anything.

Then the girl turns to Mingyu, "hey, I've never met you. Who are you?"

"Hello," Mingyu greets politely smiling, "and yeah, that's probably the case. I'm new here. I just moved here few days ago," he explains, "and I'm Mingyu."

"Sophia," The girl introduces herself, and the two shake hands. Sophia has really long, dark hair. She's wearing white dress which looks good on her. She looks good.

When Mingyu turns his head back to Wonwoo, he notices that Wonwoo seems awkward and uncomfortable. He's looking at Mingyu and the girl, shifting and playing with the sleeves of his sweatshirt awkwardly.

Oh. OH.

This Sophia must be his crush or something, Mingyu realizes, and takes a step back, so he isn't standing that close to her anymore.

"So, are you two friends?" Sophia asks.

Mingyu turns to look at Wonwoo and opens his mouth to say something: "well, we just--,"

"Yeah, kinda like... friends," Wonwoo interrupts Mingyu quickly, wrapping his arm around Mingyu's waist, pressing Mingyu close to himself.

Mingyu looks at Wonwoo, confused, but doesn't meet Wonwoo's eyes as Wonwoo is sporting one of his best fake smiles to the girl. Sophia stares at them, eyes wide open in shock. She looks at least as confused as Mingyu feels.

"Oh, Oh! Okay," Sophia finally speaks, her eyes darting back and forth between the two guys, "I see, I see."

Wonwoo pulls Mingyu even closer to himself, and turns his head from Sophia to Mingyu, finally facing him but still not quite meeting Mingyu's confused gaze, as he locks his gaze on Mingyu's lips, "Would you like to get another drink? I feel like I'd have use for one right now."

Sophia just stares at the two of them - especially at Wonwoo's hand resting on Mingyu's waist, looking a little unsettled by the view.

"Yeah... sure. Sure, me too," Mingyu manages to say. He's so confused. He thought that Wonwoo liked Sophia, since he seemed to be so nervous about talking to her.

"Well, we're going to get ourselves some drinks now. See you later, Sophia!" Wonwoo waves to Sophia. Mingyu bids his goodbye to her as well, and they start moving towards the table of drinks, Wonwoo still keeping his hand on Mingyu's waist.

"What the hell was that all about?" Mingyu finally asks when they are out of her earshot, and Wonwoo takes his hand from Mingyu's waist.

Wonwoo groans, hiding his face with his hands, "I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have done that, I know. I just couldn't think of a better way to escape her."

"But why'd you want to escape her?"

"Uh, it's kinda complicated," Wonwoo mutters.

"You owe me an explanation. Go on," Mingyu nudges Wonwoo softly, making Wonwoo's eyes finally meet his properly. Mingyu's expression is neither angry nor in any way accusatory, only confused.

Wonwoo lets out a deep sigh, and sits down on one of the seats a little further from the drinks, which gives them a little bit of privacy. Mingyu sits down on the seat next to Wonwoo.

"Well, she kinda likes me," Wonwoo states.

Mingyu nods for Wonwoo to go on, but the boy next to him just sits there, eyes glued on the drink in his hands.

Wonwoo takes a sip of his drink.

"And that's a problem because..?" Mingyu asks, still not getting it.

"Because I don't have any feelings for her, but I can't just say that to her since she hasn't officially confessed to me. And I can't just suddenly start being mean to her. I always end up being nice, no matter how hard I try not to talk to her at all. I'd feel so mean if I'd even ignore her."

Mingyu nods, taking a swig of his drink, "but, are you sure she likes you? What if she just wants to be your friend?" he suggests, making Wonwoo chuckle.

"Oh, I'm sure. It couldn't be more obvious. She has a lot of friends and I've never seen her act around anyone else the way she acts around me. This has been going on for months."

"Well, damn," Mingyu bites his lip, "how come you aren't interested in her, though? She seems nice, and she's really beautiful."

"I don't know. I guess she just isn't my type," Wonwoo mutters. Or girls in general aren't my type, he thinks to himself.

"But I think your problem is pretty much solved now. She probably thinks that you're dating me or something," Mingyu smirks to Wonwoo.

Wonwoo bites his lip, immersed in his thoughts, "I don't know. I hope so."

"You're welcome, boyfriend," Mingyu teases, winking.

Wonwoo laughs - his heart skips a beat at Mingyu's words - but then drops his gaze back to his hands, tugging at the sleeves of his sweater, "I'm sorry, though."

"What for?" Mingyu asks, and Wonwoo lifts his head up again.

"For making you uncomfortable for something as stupid as that. I feel like I just used you or something," Wonwoo says, making Mingyu chuckle.

"Hey, don't worry. You didn't make me uncomfortable or anything. I was just confused. And actually, it was quite funny, now that I think about it." He smiles reassuringly at Wonwoo, who looks relieved to hear that.

"Now, bottoms up!"
