Prologue

Faith Knows No Bounds

A/N: A long while back, there was this crossover story of "Pokémon" and "HTTYD" that I really liked, when Ash traveled to the Viking world, met Hiccup and the Dragon Riders, and even befriended his own dragon. Unfortunately, it is no longer on fanfiction.net, where I found it. I was really sad about it, but that fanfic inspired me to write my own story about these two favorite fandoms of mine. It has taken a while because of my many other projects, so I can't guarantee very frequent updates because of that. But I really wanted to share this eventually, even though there are a lot of stories in the making as well.

I decided to post this story first on this site, and then when I finish some of my other stories, then I can start sharing it on fanfiction.net. Well, let's get on with the prologue of this story! And action!

Prologue

In some cases, there has been proof of other worlds. There's just no definitive proof or signs of it, being only told in stories or legends. But there are things that can cross between worlds, though yet again, there's no proof of it actually doing so. Unless it happens because of the sole purpose to connect people on both sides, with fate having something planned for them.

For those who don't believe in fate, it could be a pure coincidence or a mistake that certain things happen that no one could really explain. But everything that does happen, no matter how strange it may seem at first, one thing is certain: if it happens, it happens for a reason.

In two very different worlds, late one night, two young men were dreaming away in their beds. That is, until they heard something calling out to them. The voice of something, or someone; they weren't sure. But it was talking to them.

"Follow your heart." It said in an echoey but melodic whisper. "And it will never steer you wrong."

The voice was like a siren's call; calm and somewhat alluring, and it was slightly stirring both of them from their slumbers. Both boys looked around the same age, in their late teenage years, but they couldn't appear any more different.

One of them was tall, lean and a little bit skinny, and the other was a little bit shorter and appeared to be younger than the first, though his build was pretty svelte. The first boy had skin that was fair and pale, almost mimicking freshly fallen snow if the moonlight hit it just right. He also had piercing but calm green eyes, like the forest. His hair was wild and shaggy, and it was auburn brown with glowing hints of red that would show in the sunlight.

In contrast, the second boy had tan skin that would glow healthily in the sunlight. He also had warm chocolate brown eyes with a spark of fire in them. His hair was also pretty untame, but it was raven black instead, putting the night sky itself to shame. On his cheeks were little birthmarks that were like tiny lightning bolts zigzagging under his eyes.

There was nothing else there with them, other than their rooms and their faithful creature companions sleeping near them, either on a different bed nearby their own or carefully snuggled next to them. But just as they were getting comfy, they heard the voice again.

"Follow your heart. And it will never steer you wrong."

This time, the boys woke up and then sat up in their beds, looked around again, and still had the same result as before. They tried to go back to sleep, this time covering their heads with their pillows. But that did very little, for they heard it again, saying the same thing.

"Follow your heart. And it will never steer you wrong."

Lightly groaning in frustration, both boys sat up again and carefully maneuvered themselves out of bed and past their snoozing companions. Each of them took light steps so as to not make so much noise, they headed out of their homes and outside, quietly closing the doors behind them.

The voice was heard two more times, and both of them looked around their surroundings, but still seeing no one. They walked further out, one of them walking out onto a gangplank and the other heading onto the beach. They kept looking around as the voice was heard again. They both sighed and walked further out, looking around to see any sign of someone.

Though they were slightly annoyed by this ethereal voice calling to them, they couldn't help but feel drawn to it. They both felt some sort of a connection with it, like it was calling to them specifically. If so, why them? The first boy seemed to be very much confused, but the second boy seemed to be more curious, as if he was used to strange things happening to him.

Just then, a light blue orb of light appeared before both of them. Staring at it with awe, both boys slowly reached out to touch it. But before either of them could, the orb split into three smaller ones, lightly circling around each boy before zooming off into the distance.

Their curiosity eating away at them, both boys cautiously followed the lights into a fog bank that suddenly appeared in front of them. Once they had entered the banks, they both saw incredible things within; creatures that they never imagined.

One of the boys saw dozens of creatures that represented the animals that he was familiar with, but they were still odd in a way he couldn't explain; wolves, cats, birds, rodents, and even dragons. But they were dragons that he'd never seen before. There were also a few of the creatures that looked like nothing he had ever seen before. Some even looked like they could be human, but there were some major differences about them.

The other one saw many kinds of dragons that he never thought imaginable, somewhat different from the dragons he recognized. They came in different shapes and sizes, and some didn't even fly. They would either run on land without wings or swim in the ocean with wings that seemed more like flippers than anything.

Then, they all vanished as the orbs of light appeared to them again. The orbs quickly flew around each boy in a circle, creating a blue ring of light as it descended onto the ground, ensnaring them. Then, the rings changed from blue to red.

Images of flames flickered from each ring, briefly taking an appearance of a strange-looking but amazing creature unlike anything they had ever seen before. One of them was a dragon-like creature with horn-like appendages on its head, and it flew at high speeds, with a flickering flame at the end of its long and powerful tail. The other looked reptilian with four curled horns on its head, kind of like the other dragon, except it crawled like a bat with its large wings, with crocodilian teeth sticking out of its jaw.

Both boys watched with awe and fascination. The rings of light changed from red to a light cerulean as more creatures appeared. One ring showed a tall, humanoid, frog-like creature while the other ring showed a tall, long-necked dragon breaching the surface of the image of water, having a curled horn at the tip of its nose, and a long sac under its chin.

Then the rings changed colors again as they dissipated into nothing, to a light purple with creatures appearing above them. One of them showed a giant mammal-like creature with long tusks and a strange, long nose that curled down, along with a stony cover on the top of its body. The other one showed a large, chubby, dragon-like creature with tiny wings for its large body size and bumpy skin, with a club-like tail. The creatures quickly changed again to show the boys different ones as the color of the lights changed once again, this time to an aqua green.

One of the creatures that appeared in the aquamarine lights was a giant, bird-like creature with powerful-looking feathered wings, sharp talons, and a bunch of strange, spiky feathers on the top of the head that also covered part of the front of the bird's face. The other one was a bird-like dragon creature with lots of large spikes on the crown of its head, and the long, powerful tail having long spines that can stick out at will.

The creatures vanished again as they both changed colors one last time. One of the lights was a bright golden yellow, while the other was a much brighter purple color than the previous violet light. Both pulsating lights twirled around the two boys, making them laugh with awe before they were zipping away into the distance.

Both boys tried to follow them until they reached the end of the gangplank or the edge of the shoreline, where the land meets the sea. They had tried to reach out in an attempt to touch the lights, but they were still far out of their reach.

Suddenly, the lights started to spin around in a tight circle, spinning faster and faster until they both finally imploded, giving off waves of power and light, hitting the boys directly, sending them back into a deep slumber. Before they both lost consciousness as they fell, they heard that voice speaking again.

"Follow your heart. And it will never steer you wrong." Then, after that, they knew no more.

A/N: Interesting enough? Let me know in the comments.

Hopefully, I won't take forever on the next chapter. But no promises, since I do have lots of other projects going on right now, so updates will be very prolonged. But until then, I'll see y'all in the next chapter. Please leave a comment about what you think, and remember to stay healthy. The worst is almost behind us.

Got to fly! ;)
