Epilogue

"Mommy, watch this!"

I looked up at the frantic sound in my five year old sons voice, lifting my head up from the baby in my arms.

"Look!" He demanded again, pointing at his feet. I watched as he dribbled the soccer ball between them, better than half of the people I knew.

"Wow! Mason, that's amazing!" I cried, grinning at him. He nodded, picking the ball up and looking up at me with big blue eyes.

"I know, Mommy." He reached up to tug at my hand, but I shook my head.

"No, sweetie. Mommy's holding Mia right now." He sighed, stomping up the stairs and into the house, probably to find Max. I followed after him, burping Mia on my way down the hall. I followed Mason into our room, finding Max building something on the computer desk.

"Daddy!" Mason launched himself on to Max's lap, shoving the ball in his face.

"I can play soccer now. Ask Mommy!" Max laughed, taking the ball from the five year old and dropping it on to the ground.

"That's great, buddy. But you know the rules." Mason groaned dramatically and fell against Max's chest.

"I know, I know. No playing with balls in the house because it'll break things." We both nodded. Mason jumped up after a few minutes of sitting and thinking on Max's lap.

"Mommy, can you play soccer with me?" He asked, pointing at Mia, "Daddy can hold Mia." I forced my eyes away from my sons and met Max's, which were filled with amusement.

"Sure. Let me have her." Max offered, holding his arms out. I gently laid our six month old daughter in his arms, watching her hands automatically wrap around his fingers.

"Hi, Princess." He whispered, caressing her cheek with one of his free fingers. "You're gonna spend some time with Daddy." I smiled at him, feeling my heart clench a little. I felt Mason's hand grab at mine after a second, his blue eyes glistening with excitement.

"Come on, Mommy! We've gotta play!" I laughed, sweeping my son off the ground and carrying him out of the room before he could hurt himself.

**

Mason was out a few minutes after I put him to bed, his dinosaur toy clenched tightly against his chest. I pulled the blanket up and leaned down to kiss his forehead.

"I love you, baby boy." I whispered before walking over and turning the light off so his dinosaur nightlight was the only thing lighting up the room.

Once I had made it back to our room, Mia was already in the crib in the corner of the room, sleeping soundly.

"Being a parent is hard." I sighed, throwing myself back on to the bed and groaning.

"I think it's wonderful." Max replied, letting me help him out of his wheelchair.

"It's great it's just. . . you try working for nine hours, then come home and play soccer with our five year old and breast feed Mia." I muttered, laying my head against his chest.

"But you love it." He poked at my side.

"That I do." I replied, leaning up and kissing him.

"I like you breast feeding, by the way." He smirked, "Your boobs are like twice the size they were." I slapped his arm, shaking my head as I laid my head back against his chest.

I looked down at my hand, at the beautiful diamond ring that sat on my finger.

"You know, your mom told me something a few years ago." I said, squeezing his hand, "She said that I had faith in you, Max." He nodded, looking a little confused.

"And?" He asked.

"And if we ever have another kid I want to name her Faith." He laughed, rubbing my arm.

"Okay, babe. But what if it's a boy?" I shrugged, laughing a little.

"I didn't think about that." I answered. "But I guess when the time comes we'll see." He looked toward the crib beside us, at our daughter as she started to whimper. I knew, somewhere in his mind, he was deciding whether he was going to have to get her or if I was.

"We did it, Quinn." He whispered, sitting up with a groan, "We have the perfect family." I stared at him, feeling my eyes stinging.

"Yeah, we do." I gestured for him to lay back down as I walked over to the crib and picked Mia up. She stared up at me, her hands on the hem of my sleep shirt. After a second her eyes flickered to me, and I froze. Her eyes were the same as Max's. A beautiful hazel, that seemed to have more green then brown. They were the same eyes I had fallen in love with years ago, and they were the same eyes I'd fall in love with over and over again when I looked at my daughter.
