In the buzzling street of New York, a couple took their seat inside the posh interior of Le Bernardin. Their eyes gazing at the transparent window pane, watching people chattering and walking on the street outside. Some with a ham, another with a sandwich, drinks and even a newspaper. But everyone's on a roll. Busy and on the go.
Their faces hazed with the warm ray of the evening sun, about to set in the far horizon.
Neetu Kapoor looked back at her husband, who kept checking his phone like a hawk. He had been fretting nonchalantly ever since they had left from their rented apartment. They had taken shelter in New York city for Rishi's cancer treatment. The family had shifted their base to this never sleeping city, almost an year back.
During their hard trial, family, friends and children stood with them like a rock. Amidst their tribulation, Neetu and Rishi wanted to refresh themselves from the depressing hospital routine, with the help of some friends or just themselves. So they'd dine out and experiment in various restaurants and hotels across the city.
Today was a dull day so to charge them up, more so to cheer Chintu, they thought to try this french restaurant their daughter had been recommending. They wouldn't be alone tonight. Riddhima, their eldest had flew along with her husband and daughter Samara while Ranbir and his girlfriend Alia would directly reach the restaurant from airport.
Riddhima and family were out for shopping and had promised to join soon. Neetu shook head at her husband. "Would you please keep your phone down ?" Rishi bobbed his head in a carefree manner, trying to retaliate with his world famous frown. She smirked at his attitude.
"Arey stop staring at me! I know what I'm doing." His statement didn't shook her much. He was stubborn as heck and always got his way around. He was like a fussy baby who needed proper care and attention, even at this age and Neetu would give him just that with a cheery smile. Sometimes she wondered who was she parenting, Riddhima and Ranbir or their father ?!
She sipped her glass of apple cider juice and gazed out of the window. People were out of the street with full force. A uber pulled up and out came her granddaughter - Samara. Followed by her parents with shopping bags loaded in their arms. Neetu looked at her husband to see him sigh with relief. Nothing could beat the way he smiled at their daughter and grand child, not even the way she stared at her Rana!
They both had their clear child preferences but it would always fill her heart to see Rishi look so cheerful around their Ridhi. Sam ran inside the door and searched for her grand parents. Neetu waved at her laughingly and she rushed to reach them. "Sam be careful" voice Bharat, her dad from behind. "My baby cameee" Neetu and Rishi's joy knew no bound.
She came a week back and yet everyday spending quality time with her meant heaven. She brought along infinite love and jubily. Almost like she lifted off their pain and sadness. Sam hugged her granny and then went on to kiss her grandpa's cheek as he laughed adorably. She settled next to him as her parents greeted their parents and sat along with their shopping bags.
"Poora mall loot liya tha kya ?" asked Neetu to Ridhi who bit her tongue playfully. "Maa, I couldn't help but buy them. When you'll see you'll know. I've shopped for all of us and even for both bua's and Tashu. Can't wait."
"I'm sure it must be good if you've selected them," said Rishi, glancing at his apple watch once again with a slight line of frown etched on his forehead. Having noticed this, Riddhima turned to her mother "Why does he look so worried ? All fine, maa ?" She asked with caution. Every moment spent here was like treading on fire but their mother made sure to never let their family know of it, let alone experience.
"Oh lemme guess - ah! Rana hasn't messaged yet." Her mom nodded in a sympathetic expression. "What will I ever do to this man! I hope he doesn't scares Alia away with this madness" whispers Neetu to her daughter. They giggle silently.
With impatient eyes, Rishi kept staring at the restaurant entrance door, waiting for his son and Alia to arrive. "He said he'll reach by sharp 6 and look at the time. So brilliant" grunted Rishi trying to cool his mind. "Mamu will come pops" reassured little Sam, very well knowing her grandpa's worry. For her age Samara was way too smart and mature. She could comprehend a complicated adult situation with her little pretty head.
A family trait, thought Rishi with a slight smile.
Ranbir and Alia announced their arrival with the clinking sound of the tiny bell attached to the door. The family looked up to finally see the faces they've been waiting for. "At last" commented Rishi, heaving with a fake annoyance. "Thank God" prayed Neetu. Ranbir walked holding hands with his girlfriend.
A sight she had never seen before, noticed Neetu. He was a very private kid and would barely show his emotions let alone romantic gestures in front of his family.
It had never happened before but again with Alia, there were a whole bunch of firsts!
She could see a more evolved, vibrant, more open and rejoicing Ranbir. And for that her heart blessed Alia, every day. For bringing so much joy into their son's and their lives.
The Kapoor's rose up to welcome their children who had abandoned their private vacation time to meet them and stay in New York. "Hello uncle" smiled Alia like a meek cat. Rishi pulled her in for a warm fluffy hug, surprising his family. "Kya formality dikha rahi hai .. tu toh apni bacchi hai." Alia laughed at his sweet gesture and made way for Ranbir to greet his dad while she moved to meet Neetu.
"Hi, waited so long for you both." Both of them embraced each other like two lost friends.
"Sorry for that. Uh, well we happened to meet some of our fans in the airport and we couldn't just leave without thanking them for taking out time." Ranbir greeted Bharat, Ridhi and settled with Sam sandwiched between him and Alia, just the way he loved.
"Yes of course. Fans are more important than one's family. If they say jump from a building and suicide, then let's go for it cause yohoo, they made us so we'll oblige like the FOOLS we are." Their father chirped with a yawn, stressing on the word 'Fools.' Ranbir looked down on his empty plate with remorse. Neetu face palmed herself at his expression.
He was just like his father. Too scared and formal with their father - like some boss and staff. "Offo you know how grateful he is for what they've all made him into. So are you, isliye stop complaining. Bcche door se aayein hain. Don't bully them yet. You've got an entire week for that." Neetu's defence made the environment more lighter and Alia was grateful for her presence.
Cause in real, Rishi Kapoor was in fact intimidating. Even when they were co -stars in her debut film. But once she got to know him personally through Ranbir, she knew what the fuss was all about. He was just like any other proper Kapoor - close and protective to the one's who matter and reserved and slightly on a pedestal for outsiders.
But she loved him nevertheless. Or else she couldn't sacrifice her couple vacation with Ranbir to Spain. She knew how badly her boyfriend missed his family. And before he could change her mind, she booked their NYC tickets right after their individual shoot schedules. His face was worth every little sacrifice made.
"Thank you beta for choosing to spend time with us. Sorry for messing with your vacation plans" apologized Rishi with a sad face. He hated showing his weak side but they were his family, his entire world upon which he revolved. And now they had Alia enter their beautiful haven so gently but definitely here to stay. He felt more complete and content.
"Please don't say that. I wanted to keep this a surprise but Ranbir being this horrible secret keeper, announced our plans to everyone." They laughed and agreed with her. He just couldn't keep his mouth shut! "This rascal! Why didn't you message me upon landing ? Forgot the rule ? Yaar yeh ... should have told Alia instead."
Alia seemed confused at his groan. She looked around for someone to help her with the confusion. Neetu grinned and volunteered to help. "Beta so this is for your future betterment, okay ? Always remember this or else you'll be at the bear brunt of this old man's time bomb." Alia chuckled and nodded.
"Bob (Rishi) goes crazy when any of us is travelling. One non - negotiable rule is that we always have to text him and say 'Jai Mata Di' when taking off or landing anywhere. He's fidgety until he gets the message. Once Ranbir forgot to message and he got his ear's chewed off! Bob cares immensely for all of us so he worries in the same measure."
The family laughed at Rishi's expense. "Aww but that's too cute. It's very rare to see father's showing their worries. Usually they conceal it's upto mother's." Alia's statement brought a big smirk on Rishi as he floated in her applause.
"And I forgot again, unfortunately today. But thanks to Alia, got saved from aaj ka bhaashan (preach)! You know Alia, when we three flew together during Besharam, I was so glad I didn't had to message JMD! Such a relief it was to see Papa chilled and less mad."
Ranbir's comment earned him a harmless whack on his back from his father making them roar with laughter. "See bhai I care okay ? I may not seem like the one with that sort of feelings but I do. And it's only out of love. Since Alia is also a part of our close circle, you need to start polishing your messaging skill as well." That caught her of guard and she laughed with a hint of blush coating her face.
"Tu bhi gayi... now let's begin our dinner" chuckled Ranbir and they all heartily agreed. Soon orders were made and piping hot delicious food was served. With interesting and spicy conversation mixed with generous teasing and laughter explode, The Kapoor's relished their dinner together as one family.

NOTE : The week after I stopped being active on the FC was the hardest and most clueless week of my life! I felt suddenly too aimless and with no purpose in life. Like I lost some job of mine. I didn't feel like watching any drama, Yt content or even writing/reading! My friends (both real and from fc) helped me to cope with this new kind of situation even if it hurted them more.
Thank you for standing with me. I can't promise to keep updating this book forever but I will try my best to write up almost half of my imaginations I've always fantasized regarding our ship. It needs to be vented out so that I could move on with a fresh slate.
The Kapoor rule shared in here is actually true! Remember I said in one of my stories that I had recently read pdf of Rishi sir's autobiography and from which I had taken generous ss of things that were imp for the ship :P So in that Neetu ji mentioned this habit of his so since I no longer use the fc, I might incorporate them in my stories ;)
Since I've begun my Yt weekly video regime, I was forced to clear my phone storage thus leading to wiping off my 2000 + exclusive Ranlia pics/edits/vms/ss/iv content/articles and what not! Like half of them I've never posted only lol! I kinda dragged my timeline of deleting them forever but I had to eventually! It was hard at first but then I think I'm getting used to it.
Also weird and kinda pissing to see Alia mentioning and acknowledging her fan and ship accounts right after I exited! Like wtfjsfksfaskhfaslkffh WAS THAT GURL ?! I bet had it been done a year back, our account would have made it to her stories!!! -.-
Was good to see the Kapoor's and Bhatt's celebrating Soni aunty's bday <3 Love their beautiful bond. I hope they all could go on for a rightfully deserving family holiday somewhere quiet and nice to refresh and relax. They need it soooo badly. The birthdays helped thou.
Also heard that Ranbir might move in to Alia's home space soon since they anyway want to be with each other more so and since for Alia it's hard to be away from her pets and her surrounding (with everything's she's been through), Rk has approached to move in with her instead. Honestly thou I admire and respect this more when Rk did than RS ;) I kinda secretly wanted RK to pull something similar but we all know whose more genuine so Yay to Ranlia ship going smoooother than ever before !!!
*proud sob*
I feel expressing my pent up ship feelings here makes me feel good! What do you say ? It's almost similar to my caption regime. But ya ... I'll do more of these with my updates so that you'll feel connected as well.
Btw how was an entire month spent without RanbirAliaFc for you guys ???
Missed y'all sooo much! Sorry if I haven't gotten time to inbox some of you personally after that debacle, like I promised I would (keeping in touch). Just needed some time alone to absorb all of this and settle my mind. I think I'm fine to fly now. Crazy how fats this year flew and we're nearing dec already ! I've completed two of my books here so hence I can fully concentrate on FROS and NEQ (a sheikh romance starring Alia) more from now <3
