Night Of Shooting Stars

"Ready for action? Let's get things started with the first contest of the Grand Magic Games, one that we call "Hidden"! The first challenger has stepped forward! Representing Quatro Cerberus; it's Yaeger! From Mermaid Heel, the adorable Beth Vanderwood! From Raven Tail, Nalpudding! Blue Pegasus sends out Eve Tilm! Gotta love those lively cheers! Keep your eyes on this one, folks! From Sabertooth, the minstrel who sings to the red moon: Rufus Lore! From Lamia Scale, Lyon Bastia! From Fairy Tail Team A, the dragon slayer, (Y/n) (L/n). From Fairy Tail Team B, Juvia Loxar! The competitors have been chosen and the long wait is finally over! Grab a refreshment and get glued to your seat, because you're not gonna want to miss a single nail-biting moment of Hidden!" Lola said. Now, will each team's participant in the Hidden game, kindly step forward?" Mato asked. "See you later." You said. "You got this, (Y/n)!" Lucy said. "You better not lose, (Y/n)! Ya hear me? We're better than Gajeel's team and those Saber jerks and Raven, uhhh." Natsu said. "You gotta hide and seek like a real man!" Elfman shouted. Lucy sweat dropped. "Did you forget that (Y/n)'s a girl?" She asked. "There are two questions on everyone's minds. First and foremost, just what kind of game will "Hidden" be?" Lola asked. "And who would you say is the favorite in this mysterious competition?" He asked. "Hmm. It's safe to assume that Rufus of Sabertooth. is probably the odds-on favorite, But (Y/n) from Fairy Tail is, a dark horse in the running." Yajima said. "Let's ask today's special guest. Miss Jenny Realight from Blue Pegasus!" Lola said. She turned to him. "My fave? I'll be rooting for Eve, of course. He's got this in the bag!" She said. "I hope you realize. That even though were friends, I don't intend on losing to you." Juvia said. You smiled at her. "Yeah, of course not. I wanna win too." You said. "My mind is set on winning the competition as well. And then fair (Y/n)'s heart!" Lyon said. "Oh geez." You sweat dropped. Ya know, before we start I got one question that I've been dying to ask. What are you?" You asked Mato. He sweat dropped. "Who me? My silly girl, I'm a pumpkin, as you can plainly see." He said. You sweat dropped. "Sorry. Was I not supposed to ask you that or something?" You asked. "Well, he certainly looks like a pumpkin to me." Juvia said. "Well duh. Of course he looks like a pumpkin on the outside. But what's inside there?" You asked. "He's always been a big part of the games. So I guess I never really thought about it." Eve said. "Yeah I figured he had to be somebody on the event staff in a costume." Beth said. They both bowed. "Good job sir. You've created an excellent character." They said. "Thank you. But I'm really only doing this because it's so fun-kin!" Mato said. You sweat dropped. "Please don't tell me you're serious with that joke." You said. "Before we start I got a little problem, see, I don't know exactly what this Hidden game is all about. But I think something stinks around here. And that something being that there's two Fairy twerps competing in this thing. No other guild is gonna get the chance to have two members in each round so I say they got an unfair advantage." Nullpudding said. You and Juvia glared at him. "What?" You snapped. "I understand your concern, but it can't be helped. We never dreamed that one guild could have two teams maken it past the qualifier. It really is an amazing feat." Mato said. "I have no qualms with it." Rufus said. "In fact I remember something that I once heard, A wise man told me two heads aren't necessarily better than one." He said. "If I gotta beat two fairies, bring it on!" Jager said as he pounds his fists. "I sure ain't gonna raise a fuss over it." Beth said. Nullpudding grunts. "Are you giving us some advice? A couple of words of wisdom from the reigning champion?" You mocked. "All I'm saying is having a comrade could prove to be a disadvantage. There are a myriad of ways they could be used against you. If they were to leak information or be held hostage your hand would be easily forced. You'd be wise to remember that." Rufus said. "Yeah sure, I'll write it down later." You teased. "Open the field!" Mato shouted. Suddenly an entire town began to appear. "What the?" You asked. "Whoa!" Gray said. "A town!" Lucy said. "Amazing." Erza said. "That's so cool!" Natsu said. "This game's already crazy!" Elfman said. Everyone gasped. "Whoa! They can fit an entire city right in the middle of the arena?" Happy asked. "I've never seen anything like it before." Makarov said.

"A manifestation on such a large scale. How much magic energy does that require?" Jellal asked. You gasped as the town appears in front of you. You looked around. "Juvia? Lyon? Where in the heck did everybody go?" You asked. "All the others just disappeared." Juvia said as she looked around. "Now I see. So this is the game, is it?" Lyon asked. "High stakes Hide-and-Seek." Eve said. "Should I be hidin'? Or should I be seekin' instead?" Beth asked. "I used to play this game when I was a little kid." Jager said. "Is there somebody looking for us?" He asked. "Those of you in the stands can catch all the exciting action in crystal-clearlacrima-vision. I bet the eight contestants in the arena wish they had that luxury. But that would make it too easy. Speaking of easy, here are the rules of the game. All the players are hiding and seeking at the same time!" Lola said. "What does that mean?" Natsu asked. "The main objective in Hidden is to locate the other players. Once you've done that, you'll have to land an attack on them! The player that successfully connects their attack, whether or not it does any damage, will then be awarded one point." Lola said. "Wait. Now what's going on?" You asked as you saw blue light around you. The blue light then revealed multiple copies of the other players. "Holy crap! There's hundreds of them!" You said. "What's with all the look-alikes?" Lucy asked. "I don't know." Natsu said. "That's extremely difficult. Even after knowing (Y/n) for all these years. I'd probably have trouble finding the real one." Erza said. "Yeah, same here." Gray said. "I know they're pretty. But those copies aren't just for show, folks. Attack one of your fake competitors. by mistake, and it'll cost you one point! It's time to disappear like a black cat in a dark alleyway. Fade into your surroundings and hide in plain sight." Lola said. Someone rang the gong, signaling the beginning of the round. "Let's play Hidden!" Lola shouted. "This game isn't really about hiding as much as seeking. It's gonna be tough figuring out who the real enemies are in here, though." Jager said. "You are allowed as many restarts as you need but the clock is ticking. The game will last for thirty minutes, and of course, whoever has the most points at the end takes first place!" Lola said. You began running. "I can't believe this! Finding the real people in here is gonna be impossible." You said. "You dimwit." You immediately stopped and turned around at the voice. "You don't have a snowball's chance if it takes you this long to figure out the game." Nullpudding said. "You're with Raven Tail!" You shouted.

"As a matter of fact I am. The name's Nalpudding." He said. "Well, it's awfully nice of you to come find me like this. The wizard chuckles. "Cause that means I don't have to find you! Ice dragon: wing attack!" You shouted as you attacked. "Oh yeah!" Droy cheered. "Is there something different about her dragon slayer magic, now?" Jet asked. "And that's what training will do for ya, guys." Happy bragged. "Thanks for givin' me my first point!" You smirked. But it soon faded. "What the? I clearly just pounded the guy!" You protested. He laughs as he approaches and your eyes widen. "No way!" You said. "Nice try. But this here is the real thing, see?" He asked. "I didn't know she'd be that easy to trick." Natsu said. "Me neither." Gray said. "Neither did I. And that means another Fairy Tail team is gonna lose a point." Lucy said. You grunted as you appeared in another place. "Geez. What a major screw-up!" You said. "Oh well. At least I learned something. You can use your copies to get close to an enemy. And then, when they attack and reveal themselves, you can take them by surprise and score a point. That's how you play Hidden!" You said. "Everybody's totally blended in with the crowds." Lucy said. "How are we supposed to figure who's real and who's not in this thing?" Natsu panicked. "I'm not sure, but I hope she can pull this off somehow." Gray said. "I'm glad i'm not playing this one. I get lost in a crowd really easily." Elfman said. "And as we've just seen, any careless actions could cause you to be revealed to the enemy." Erza said. "How will you proceed, (Y/n)?" She asked. "There are a ton of people in here. And most are fake." You said as you looked around. "Oh, (Y/n). You make this too easy." The wizard from before said. You grunt as you turn to glare at him. You then yelp in surprise as he attacks you. "Come on!" Natsu shouted. "Oh no!" Gray said. "She lost another point?" Erza asked. "This sucks. Why is he coming after me so much?" You asked. "This game is getting really fun!" He shouted. "The tension is so thick in this game of Hidden, you could cut it with a knife, with Raven Tail's Nalpudding quickly taking the lead. Say, on a field full of copies of yourself land your enemies, how would you figure out who was real, and who was just a fake?" Lola asked. "There are a variety of ways to suss out which ones are real. One might begin by trying to detect an opponent's magic power." Yajima said.

Jenny chuckles. "I'm sure our crafty little Eve will figure out a more sophisticated method." She said. "Searching for magic might be a start. It would certainly get you in the general vicinity. But pinpointing a foe would be tough." Erza said. "Keep screwin' up and it's gonna cost us the game, (Y/n)!" Natsu shouted. "That little purple guy got ya two times in a row!" Elfman shouted. "Come on! Toughen up and take this guy out already!" Gray shouted. "What's up with Raven Tail?" Lucy asked as she looked at them. "You know staring isn't very nice, Blondie." Flare said. "They're the ones that attacked Wendy, and for some strange reason it seems like they're only targeting (Y/n) in this round." Lucy said. "Maybe I'll teach you some manners." Flare said. "That's enough, Flare." Alexai said. "Ivan, you scum." Makarov said. "I know you can win this, (Y/n)!" Happy shouted. "Square one again." You said as you looked around. Suddenly something came out from the ground. "Carrot Missiles!" You narrowly dodged the attack. "Aw shoot! I totally missed that girl." Beth said. "Whoa!" She said as she was lifted up by something. "What is that?" You asked. "Ha ha!" You quickly looked behind to see Jager. "Ah yeah! I was sick of waitin' for the chance to use magic!" He said. Lyon suddenly struck him down. "So was I!" He said. You turned to face him. "Lyon." You said. "I've found my love. Finally." He said. "You can't hide from me, (Y/n)!" Juvia declared as she jumped over. "Holy!" You said. "What a view!" Lyon said. Juvia quickly kicked him down. "Look, I don't need any help from you, got it?" You snapped. "I'm aware of that." She said. "That was so worth it." Lyon said before he disappeared. "As a matter of fact, I'm determined to beat you. Because of the promise master made." Juvia said. "Wait a minute, what promise?" You asked. You were ticked off once she explained. "Are you kidding me?! Hey, Gramps, if you're gonna make crazy rules like that Then they have gotta be fair! That means they better work if our team wins this thing too!" You shouted. "Yes. Of course they will." He said. "Yeah. I know exactly what I want." Natsu said. "Gimme a Happy impression!" He said to Laxus and Gajeel. "Aye!" They both said. "Hold on. That's all you'd want from them?" Elfman asked. "I want my wish. So I'm not planning on losing." Juvia said. "Bring it on!" You said, as you both got prepared to fight each other.

"Two fairies for the price of one!" Nullpudding said as he attacked both of you. You both screamed. "Why is he only going after our guild?" Lucy asked. "I don't know." Erza said. "What in the hell is this guy's problem?" You asked. You suddenly felt snow as it fell from the sky. "Huh?" Beth asked. "Wow, would ya look at this? Our city is turning into a winter wonderland!" Lola said. "That's gotta be Eve." Jenny said. "It's a shame there are some wizards here that aren't affected by the cold. But most of them are." Eve said. "I see. When people are cold they start to shiver. And you can see steam from their breath." Ichiya said. "But it doesn't work that way for the copies." Ren said. "Pretty/smart strategy." Hibiki said. "I can see you! Right there!" Eve said as he took out three at once. "Eve accumulates a flurry of points!" Lola said. Eve gasps and quickly jumps out of the way of some ice eagles. "And the ice wizard Lyon answers with a storm of his creation!" Lola said. "Unfortunately for you I've spent my life training in the cold!" Lyon said. "Yeah, I kinda figured." Eve said. Meanwhile you dodged another attack. "Again? What's the deal? Why is this freak so obsessed with me?" You asked. "We're still yet to see any movement on the board by the top-seeded Rufus of the Sabertooth guild. He hasn't lost any points, but he hasn't scored any either." Lola said. Meanwhile Rufus was standing on top of a building. "I find this game dreadfully boring." He said. "Wait! There he is!" Lola said. Natsu gasped. "I've committed this song to memory. The rhythm of their heartbeats, their footsteps, the tone of their magic." Rufus said. "That's a pretty conspicuous hiding place if ya ask me!" Lucy said. "Yeah, no kidding." Gray said. "Ya think that guy actually wants the others to find him for some reason?" Elfman asked. "(Y/n), right above you!" Natsu warned, "It's all there. Inside my mind." Rufus said, before activating a spell. "Memory Make." He said. Then the sky suddenly turned dark. "What is this magic? I've never heard of it." Erza said. You gasped as your body began to glow and you looked up at Rufus, along with everyone else in the game. "Night of Shooting Stars!" Rufus shouted. You gasped as you just nearly dodged his attack. Everyone else on the other hand, weren't so lucky. Nullpudding quickly dodged and charged at Rufus. "You could really learn a thing or two about hiding!" He said. Suddenly Rufus disappeared. "Oh, no! A fake?" He asked. Rufus suddenly reappeared. "Not quite! You haven't lost a point. That was a memory of my being there. Rufus then strikes him and he screams as he falls.

"I find that's much more effective than using mere decoys." He said. Everyone cheers. "And the hits rain down from above, turning the scoreboard upside down! This is what you'd expect from a guy like Rufus! Sabertooth takes the lead!" Lola said. "The organizers really need to work harder. These games aren't the least bit interesting. After all, I was still able to claim victory without even needing to hide. They may have spotted me but nobody even came close to touching me. The best they could do was merely chase my memory." Rufus said. "Wow. That was unbelievable." Lily said. "No kidding." Happy said. "I think I'm starting to see why they're the number one guild in Fiore. Man." Lucy said. "Thattaboy Rufus!" Lector cheered. "I can't wait until everybody sees what Sting can do!" He bragged. "Yay for Rufus!" Frosch said. "I know that magic. Memory make." You said. "He's truly a force to be reckoned with." Lyon said. "I'll watch out. But we can still beat them." Lyon said. "Ya think you've outsmarted us? This game's called Hidden, so start playin' by the rules!" You shouted as you lunged for him. You gasped as Nullpudding came out of nowhere and attacked you. "Not again!" You said. "That Rufus guy was standing completely open up there." Lucy said. "But still Nalpudding passed him over to attack (Y/n)." Erza said. "What the hell?!" Gray asked. The town then began disappearing. "And with that, the game is over! So let's take a look at the ol scoreboard!" Lola said. "That was absolutely pitiful, Lyon! You should be ashamed!" She shouted. "Please master, you should really calm down!" A member said. "Eve could've done a whole lot worse I guess." Ren said. "Not too bad." Hibiki said. "Fifth place, huh? We'd better step up our game." Araña said. Risley laughed. "We gotta give Beth some credit for trying!" She said. "Just as we expected, Sabertooth claims the top spot!" Lola said. "Stupendously done!" Yajima said. "Both Fairy Tail teams gave it their all. But unfortunately, it wasn't enough to get them out of last place." You hated that mocking tone Lola had at the end of his sentence. "Better luck next time!" Yajima said. "Well what do you expect from the weakest guild in Fiore?" A person asked. "They're such losers!" Said another. "Get used to being in dead last, ya has-beens!" Yet another said. You sent them all a death glare. "You'd better stop laughing at us right now, or else!" Natsu said. "Yeah, shut up!" Gray shouted. "Ooh! They're mad!" Someone mocked. "What, are you gonna cry?" Another asked. "Boys." Erza said as she put a hand on them. "Let 'em laugh, they won't be doing it for very long." Elfman said. "I'm sorry." You said quietly as you passed Lucy. "Don't Worry about it. It's only the first game." Lucy said. But she noticed you didn't light up and continued walking. You walked into a tunnel and angrily smashed your fist into it. Tears of anger slid down your face. "Unbelievable. I'm supposed to be Fairy Tail's strongest female wizard. Yet I did so terrible at Hidden." You said to yourself. Gray slowly walked in to see you still crying. (Y/n)? Are you okay?" He asked softly. "Leave me alone, Gray." You said, turning away from him. He walked closer. "(Y/n), nobody blames you for what happened today." He said. "I said, go away!" You shouted. "No. I want you to know; you are still our strongest female wizard, despite what happened today. And I swear, I'll get payback for you, I'll teach that Sabertooth wizard a lesson for what he did, I promise." Gray said. You stopped your tears. "Don't be so hard on yourself. You're still the most amazing wizard I know." Gray said. You gasped, then quickly ran into him, hugging him. He ws taken aback at first, but slowly hugged back. "You okay?" He asked, and you nodded. "Yeah, thanks." You said.
