Alice in Wonderland

Another story down. This one was a weird one. I knew what I wanted to do, but I just couldn't seem to get it to come out right. Maybe it was the subject I did. Oh well. I hope you guys enjoy it anyway.

Main Character: Lucy

Disney story prompt for March 9th: Alice in Wonderland

"Lucy, look out!"

Lucy looked over and saw Happy getting grabbed and thrown into a tree. "Happy!" She turned and glared at the monster that hurt her friend. "You're gonna pay for that, you freak!" She pulled out Taurus' key and summoned the bull.

"Hellooo, Miss Lucy. You're looking fine as always," Taurus said.

"Flirt later. We have to take this creep out," Lucy said as she grabbed her whip.

"After yooou," Taurus said as he gripped his large ax tighter.

The two ran towards the large monster. It was at least 8 feet tall with four, long, tentacle-like arms and large rabbit feet. Its head was the shape of a bear, with a lion's mane, and large horns you'd find on a ram. It also occasionally used its long, snake-like tongue to bat away attacks, specifically Natsu when he went to hit it.

Lucy shot her whip out and wrapped it around the thing's leg and Taurus jumped into the air and brought his ax down, but the creature just wrapped a tentacle around him and bashed him into Natsu, who was coming at it with a flaming fist. "Dang it!" she yelled.

The creature looked down at her and grabbed her with one of his tentacles, her whip coming lose and going with her, and flung her into the air.

"Lucy!" Natsu shouted.

She saw him get grabbed by the monster's tongue and get slammed into the ground, but couldn't worry about him when she saw that she was quickly approaching the trees she was flying over. Once she was close enough, she wrapped her whip around one of the brances to slow her decent. It worked for a second before the branch snapped and she fell to the ground hard.

When she opened her eyes, she saw some kind of purple dust floating around her and sat up, cringing as her body protested the movement. She looked around and saw that she landed on a patch of pink and purple flowers that she'd never seen before, and realized that the purple dust was pollen from these flowers.

She carefully stood up, grateful she didn't break anything from the fall, and looked around the area. She saw a dirt path that went through the trees, in the direction she hoped Natsu and Happy were, and quickly made her way back to the battle.

She ran a few minutes before she halted to a stop, her eyes going wide. Right in front of her was a strange looking dog who looked like it had a broom for a face and a duster for a tail. She blinked and rubbed her eyes before looking once again, but the strange dog was still there. What made matters worse was it was sweeping away the path she was following. "Hey. I'm trying to follow that path," she said, but the dog ignored her.

The broom dog swept away the path until it reached her feet, went around her, making her turn around as well, and continued sweeping, using his tail to sweep next to her feet.

Lucy stood there shocked. She looked back in the direction she was running in and the path was definitely gon. "First the weird monster, now a dog with a broom face? What will I see next?"

"Depends on what you want to see."

Lucy spun around to look for the person that spoke, but didn't see anyone. "Who's there?"

"I'm there."

She turned the the right, but still didn't see anyone.

"And here."

She spun around to look behind her, only a little too quickly as she got dizzy. "Show yourself," she yelled.

"No need to shout. I'm right here."

She turned to her left and saw a small, pink and purple striped cat with a large smile that didn't seem possible standing in front of her. "You're an exceed."

"Am I?" the cat asked.

"You're not?" she asked. She lifted her hand up to her head as a headache began.

"I'm whatever I choose to be," the cat replied.

"Ok. So, who are you then?"

"The name is Che Shire."

"Cheshire?"

"No. Che Shire."

"Ok." She looked around, knowing she didn't have time to deal with this cat, but for some reason, she couldn't remember which way she was supposed to go. She had already run far enough that she thought she should've been back in the clearing. 'Did I run deeper into the forest instead of out?' "I'm trying to get back to my friends. Can you help..." When she looked back at the cat, he was gone.

"Who are your friends?"

She spun around and saw Che Shire now in a tree behind her. "When did you get there?"

"Was I anywhere?"

"Huh?" Lucy asked confused. "Never mind. Do you know which way my friends are, a boy with pink hair and a blue cat?"

"Which way do you think they are?"

"I don't know! That's why I'm asking!" she yelled, but immediately regretted it as it made her headache worse.

"They could be that way," he said as he pointed to Lucy's left. "Or maybe in that direction." He pointed to her right.

"Ugh!" Lucy cried out frustrated. She was really getting fet up with this cat. "I'll find them myself." She walked past him and through the trees, looking all around to see if anything looked familiar.

"I don't think that's the right way," Che Shire said.

"Then why don't you help me?" Lucy said annoyed. She stopped and blinked when she saw a walrus walking past her with several walking clams. She shook her head and kept walking once they passed.

"Help you with what?"

"Finding my friends," Lucy said and placed her hand on her head. Her headache was getting worse.

"What friends?"

"The friends I just told you about."

"Did you tell me about them?"

She stopped and spun around, but he was no longer behind her. She turned around and saw him lying on the ground to her left. "Yes. Do you have a memory problem or something?"

"My memory is just fine," he said calmly, that smile never leaving his face.

Lucy rolled her eyes and kept walking. She walked for another few minutes before she came across a giant green caterpillar sitting on a large mushroom. It was smoking a pipe and sending smoke letters into the air.

"Who are you?" the caterpillar asked.

"Uh, Lucy."

"You may want to ignore him," Che Shire said. He was now hanging upside down on a nearby tree with his bushy tail that she missed before.

"Yeah," she said as she eyed the caterpillar and walked by him.

She shook her head and raised her hand to it once more. "I really need to find Natsu and Happy."

"I saw them."

She stopped and looked down at her feet where the strange cat was now lying. "Really?"

"Really, what?"

"You just said you saw them."

"Saw who?"

"My friends."

"What friends?"

"Ugh!" she yelled. "You're useless!" She walked over to a tree and slid down it. She was getting nowhere fast. "Natsu! Come find me!"

"Someone's getting testy," the cat said as he stood on his head.

"Why are you standing on your head?"

"To get blood to the brain."

Lucy closed her eyes. "Whatever." She massaged her temples with her fingers and sighed.

"Luce?"

She opened her eyes and quickly stood up. "Natsu, I'm over here!"

Natsu and Happy came through the trees. "Geez, Luce, what happened? I couldn't pick up your scent?"

"When I fell, I landed in a patch of flowers. The pollen covered me, so maybe that's what was blocking my scent."

"Let's get out of here, I have a major headache," Lucy said as she walked the way the boys came. She looked around as she walked but didn't see Che Shire anywhere. "Did you see where the pink and purple striped exceed went?"

"A pink and purple striped exceed?" Happy asked as he flew up to her.

"Yeah. He was there before you guys showed up."

"I didn't smell anyone else in the area," Natsu said a bit confused.

"Not even the smoke of that caterpillar?" Lucy asked looking back at the dragon slayer.

Natsu raised an eyebrow. "Uh, did you hit your head when you fell?"

"No... Well, maybe," Lucy said. "But it was there. After I found a path to get back to you guys, a dog swept it away and I got lost. That pink and purple striped exceed showed up, and was no help whatsoever, and I came across a giant caterpillar smoking on a large mushroom... And now that I'm saying all this out loud, it does sound a bit weird, but after fighting that monster, I'm really not surprised."

"How did a dog sweep away a path?" Happy asked.

"It had a broom for a face and a duster for a tail and it just swept it away," Lucy explained.

"Dogs don't have brooms for faces," Happy said very confused.

"Maybe I should start calling you Loony again," Natsu said as he tried not to laugh.

"I'm not crazy! I really did see them!" Lucy yelled.

"Whatever you say, Loony," Natsu said and chuckled.

Happy snickered.

Lucy pouted and crossed her arms. "I hate you guys."

"Aww. Don't say that. You looove us," Happy said.

She glared at the cat.

They made it back to the town that hired them to tell them they had successfully defeated the monster that had been attacking them. She asked them about the other creatures she saw, but they looked at her like she was crazy just like her teammates.

"Did you by chance get some pollen on you from pink and purple flowers?" the mayor asked.

Lucy blinked. "Yeah. How'd you know?"

"That flower is known to cause hallucinations," the mayor explained.

"So you did go crazy, Loony," Natsu said with a smile.

"Stop calling me that!" she yelled then turned back to the mayor. "Is it dangerous?"

"Nah. It should've worn off by now," the mayor said with a smile. "Several of our townspeople have run into those flowers. We tried to get rid of them, but we must have missed some."

"I see," Lucy said. "Well, we better head back to the guild."

"Hey, what did you name your exceed?" Natsu asked.

"I didn't name him. He said his name was Che Shire," Lucy said.

The mayor laughed, causing the team to look at him. "Looks like you ran into our local jokester."

"Huh?" Lucy asked.

"Che Shire is an exceed we found a few years back. He likes to play pranks on people, especially when they get exposed to the flower's pollen. He can somehow see the hallucinations as well even though he wasn't exposed to the pollen."

Lucy's jaw dropped.

"Well, I guess that means you weren't too crazy, Luce," Natsu said as he draped an arm over her shoulders.

"So, you found your friends after all."

They all turned and saw a pink and purple striped exceed standing there, only this time, he didn't have a huge smile. "You!" Lucy cried out.

"Hey," Che Shire said as he raised a paw.

"Wow, I've never seen an exceed like you before," Happy said as he walked over to the new cat.

"Che Shire," the striped cat said as he held out his paw.

"Happy," the blue cat replied with a smile and shook the other cat's paw.

"I had a lot of fun with you today. Thanks," Che Shire said to Lucy.

Lucy crossed her arms. "You're welcome, I guess."

"Aw, come on, Luce. It sounds like this pollen stuff would be a lot of fun," Natsu said.

"Yeah, no. I never want to run into that stuff again."

Everyone laughed.

Was that too weird? Too rushed? Not flushed out enough? I feel like this could've been a full length story. What did you guys think? Let me know in a comment below.
