Chapter 29 - Seasick Stowaways

August 29th, X792
26 miles off the coast of Fiore
Nashi:

"Someone... please kill me again," I moaned.

"Sorry Nash, we're almost there," Gale soothed while playing with my hair as I lay sickly in her lap.

"How can you tell, we can't see anything down here," Kali asked. My team and I were all sitting in a large crate in the hull of the ship. It was a rather large crate so we had just enough room for all five of us.

"I don't know, maybe it's just wishful thinking?" She shrugged. I moaned in despair.

"We've been sailing for hours," I cried. "Are we far enough away that we can go on the upper deck yet?"

"Probably," Storm answered. He stood up in the large crate we called our hiding spot and lifted the lid.

"At this point I actually want them to throw me overboard and send me home," I complained and flopped out of the crate.

"Well," Reiki said as he climbed out of the crate. "Should we make our appearance?"

"Might as well," Gale decided. She draped my arm over her shoulder and walked me up the steps to the main deck. As we walked up the steps, we passed the cabins where I heard arguing and vomiting.

When we finally reached the main deck of the ship, I was greeted with a fresh sea breeze. I was slightly relieved by the breeze and bright blue sky. Unfortunately, my stomach was not as soothed by the warm summer air. It lurched as we hit a wave and I went dead weight on Gale's shoulder.

"Let's go up to the upper deck, I wanna steer the ship," Kali cheered. We followed the exceed to the upper deck where we found four empty chairs. Storm immediately flipped out his sunglasses and fell into the chair. He stretched his limbs and relaxed into the chair, somehow losing his shirt along the way.

Everyone else followed suit and slumped into the chairs while I fell into mine with a queasy stomach.

"This feels so good," Gale sighed. She kicked off her flip flops and pulled a bottle of sunscreen out of her bag. As she applied the lotion onto her arm, Kali went to the wheel and pretended to steer the ship; even though it was on autopilot. I saw out of the corner of my eye as Reiki pulled his shirt off and leaned back in his chair. I also saw Gale peer over her sunglasses at our shirtless leader.

I groaned in frustration and stumbled to the side of the ship and flung myself onto the side of it to throw up. As my puke cascaded into the ocean, the ship suddenly took a sharp turn that knocked me onto the floor of the deck.

"Kali!" Reiki scolded. He stood and rushed to the ship's steering wheel and steadied the boat. I slumped on the deck, wishing for death to save me from this torture.

"Sorry," Kali apologized. "I accidentally turned off the autopilot,"

"Is there a child lock on that thing?" Gale asked. She joined Reiki at the wheel and began to mess with the lacrima controlling the wheel.

"What is going on up here?" Erza declared as she marched up the steps to the upper deck. Her eyes widened when they rested on the five of us just as a wave crashed into the ship's hull.

"What are you guys doing here?" Gray questioned as he and Lucy joined Erza on the upper deck.

"Well, remember when you said that we should stay in Magnolia and make sure that the guildhall was built?" Gale explained.

"We decided to ignore that decision," Storm said.

"So we snuck on the ship when you were loading the supplies," Kali grinned.

"Nashi what are you doing?" Lucy questioned.

My queasy face was drooping on the floor and my eyes were teary and blank. "I don't feel good," I squeaked. Suddenly we hit another wave and my stomach forced its contents into my mouth. I managed to hold it in, but I couldn't take it much longer.

"She's never been on a vehicle this long," Gale sighed.

"Take her downstairs with Natsu and Wendy," Erza said.

I helplessly watched as Gray scooped me up and threw me over his shoulder. "Don't throw up on me," He stated. I moaned in response, trying to hold down my puke once again. He walked down to the main deck and then into the cabin area. The ship hit yet another wave as Gray kicked the door open making my stomach lurch.

"Guess what?" Gray announced. "We found a few stowaways so you two get another puke buddy,"

My head swirled as Gray dropped me onto one of the lower bunks. I hit the mattress with an "oof" and I felt unable to move. When my eyes stopped spinning I saw Wendy laying in the bunk opposite me and Natsu sitting in the corner leaning over a bucket. They both had blank eyes and droopy faces as they stared at me.

"Hi guys," I practically puked the words and I lunged for the other bucket to expel the demons in my stomach.

"Nashi?" Natsu groaned. "What are you doing here? I thought Erza told you to stay home," His words were slow and sickly sounding.

"We wanted to help," I cried.

"So," Wendy sat up. "You're all here?"

"It's not like we travel individually," I answered.

"Fair point," They groaned.

"I didn't realize the ride would be so long," I moaned sadly.

"You shouldn't 've come," Natsu warned. "You could've been spared from this living hell," He threw his head into the bucket and puked whatever was left in his stomach.

"How much longer is it gonna be? A few more hours?" I asked. Natsu and Wendy both stared at me with blank eyes.

"I wish," Wendy cried.

"Mest said five days to the halfway point," Natsu answered.

My hope shattered. 10 days of nothing but sailing?

"Well," I wobbled to my feet. "I'm gonna go jump off the side of the boat now,"

"Sit down!" Natsu ordered. He stuck out his foot, making me trip and fall back onto the bunk. "You snuck on this ship, so now you gotta face the consequences,"

The ship crashed into another wave and my stomach flipped. This was gonna be a long ride.

4 Days Later:

"Land Ho!" Gray called out.

My heart pounded harder than it ever had before at the promise of an end to my suffering. I quickly stumbled to the front of the ship and caught sight of a small island a couple of miles away.

"Oh thank goodness," I cried tears of excitement. Natsu and Wendy quickly joined me at the edge of the ship to see the land up ahead.

Over the past four days, my life had been a living hell. Even the rest of my team was having an awful time on this stupid boat.

Erza decided that their punishment for sneaking onto the boat was doing all of the dirty work on the ship. The team had to clean the deck, cook the food, empty the latrines, pick barnacles off, etc.

She decided that my motion sickness was punishment enough for me.

"Listen up everyone," Erza announced. "I want everyone to be on their best behavior while we're on Caracol Island. We're here to meet up with the spy, so we can't afford to draw any attention to ourselves. That being said,"

My team was swabbing the deck, but they had paused to listen to Erza's speech. She sighed at the sight of the miserable future team.

"Yes, you can come onto the island. I think you all learned your lesson." She smiled.

Everyone's faces lit up at this revelation and they dropped their mops and cheered.

"yay," I groaned and leaned over the boat and threw up into the ocean.

"Let's get ready to disembark," Gray said.

"Wait," Erza pointed out something off the coast of the island. As I looked at the shore, I saw two huge ships with the Alvarez military crest.

"What are they doing way out here?" Happy wondered.

"That's a very good question, Caracol isn't in their territory," Carla replied.

"It appears that they're performing an inspection at the harbor," Mest explained. Gray growled in frustration and I peered out at the beach where several people were lined up at the gate.

"How the hell are we gonna get on that island now?" Gray asked with a frustrated tone.

I listened carefully to the hundreds of voices coming from that island. I could hear soldiers arguing and getting frustrated over something.

"Sounds like they're trying to catch a spy," Natsu moaned. "That's not good,"

"From what I can tell, they haven't been able to catch him yet though," Wendy added.

"They're also checking wizards for the spy's contacts," I explained.

"Hold on," Lucy paused. "You can hear them from this far away,"

"Oh yeah, but just barely," We all groaned.

"So what do we do?" Reiki questioned.

"We'll have to make contact with our agent quickly, while we still can," Erza decided.
