Chapter 16 - Break Out
Nashi:
Hours must have passed, I couldn't be sure since I had fallen asleep.
My wrists ached from the shackles I was suspended by, but the main source of pain was coming from the rest of my body. It throbbed with the ache of my exhausted muscles and drained energy. I felt like death incarnate, a sack of bones and blood dangling from a hook on the wall.
Just then the whole room started shaking as if it was an earthquake. What's going on? I thought. The shaking continued for another 10 minutes before it finally stopped. I had no idea what had just happened, but I'm not sure I wanted to know the answer either...
There was a loud clack as the lock on the door began to unlock. I tensed and tried pulling on my chains once more in hopes of a last-minute escape. There was no such luck. The cuffs only dug deeper into my wrists making me whimper from the pain.
The door squealed open. I looked down in defeat, not wanting to see the face of whoever was about to give me my latest torture.
"Nashi," Said an excited and relieved voice. I looked up to the sight of pink hair and some familiar faces.
"Dad," I choked out. There were tears in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.
"Don't worry sweetie, I've got you," He soothed. My team followed in behind him and rushed to my side.
"You're all okay," I tried to smile. A huge wave of relief washed over me as I saw they were mostly unharmed.
"Hold still," Storm advised. He placed a hand against my chains and froze them. In an instant, the cuffs burst into tiny pieces. My father and my friends caught me as I fell off the wall and into their comforting arms.
My lungs breathed a huge sigh of relief as the blood began to return to my arms and I regained feeling.
"Are you okay?" Natsu questioned, there was still worry in his eyes.
"I'm fine," I lied. I could only barely feel my arms and my body still ached from soreness. Not to mention my wrists were chafed and blue with bruises.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," I responded. To demonstrate the fact that I was alright, I stood on my own two feet and took a step forward. I winced at the aching in my muscles and I began to lose my balance. Everyone quickly rushed to my side at the smallest sign that I was in pain.
"Easy," Natsu scolded. He quickly wrapped my arm over his shoulder, allowing me to lean on him for support. "there's no shame in needing a little help from time to time," He smiled. He picked me up and shifted my weight until I was sitting on his back like a little kid getting a piggyback ride.
"Alright, now we've gotta find a way out of here," Gale pointed out.
"How did you guys find me in the first place?" I asked. Everyone looked at the floor. I looked around with concern at my friends who couldn't look me in the eyes.
"We could hear you from where we were being held," Storm finally explained.
My heart stopped.
They had to hear my tortured screams?? I wanted to throw up at the thought.
I felt my father rest a hand on my arm wrapped around his shoulder for support.
"Don't worry, we're gonna make them pay," He growled softly.
Tears stung my eyes as my father held my hand. I felt like a scared and sad little girl. I wanted to bury my face in his scarf and hide from the world. As I dropped my head to do so, I noticed it wasn't there.
This phenomenon struck me as very strange. My father's most precious belonging - something I had never seen him leave home without, wasn't there. I was going to point this out when I heard something strange.
"What is it?" Gale asked, noticing my expression changing.
"I heard something,"
"Me too," Natsu added. He walked toward the door and pushed it open with his foot. We walked down the hall a little further until we came to another room similar to the one I was in. I looked at Storm and gestured to the door. He nodded and approached the thick wooden door.
Placing his hand on the metal handle, it froze and burst into shards. Gale silently cracked the door open and peered inside. Her breath fell short and she rushed into the room without saying a word.
Storm swung the door open, concerned that our friend had just run into a dangerous situation.
However, when we saw the two redheads inside, we were all surprised and at ease at the same time.
"Reiki wake up, please!" Gale begged. She had rushed to his aide, holding his head in her hands and pleading with her eyes for him to wake up.
The redhead stirred, sorely raising his head and forcing his eyes open. "Gale?" He whispered. His eyes grew wider with life.
"Thank goodness," Gale smiled, relief washing over her face as she began to fiddle with his restraints.
"Erza are you okay?" Kali asked.
The red head began to stir and she raised her head to look at all of us. Her eyes were tired yet full of strength.
"What are you all doing here?" She questioned hopefully.
"Came to rescue you of course," Natsu grinned. Erza smiled softly, grateful that her family had come to save her.
Just then there was a strange growl that came from a large hole in the ceiling. Erza's eyes widened as there was a spark of electricity and a tentacle that came out of the hole.
"Everyone move!" Erza yelled. The tentacle slammed into Storm, electrocuting him and sending him flying into the stone wall.
The creature slithered out of it's hiding place revealing it's grotesque features and frog-like face. It's tentacles crackled with electricity that loomed over us menacingly. The creature seemed to smile at the victims that had stumbled into it's lair.
"What the heck is that thing?!" I screeched.
"I don't know, but it's in our way," Gale answered. She quickly grabbed a golden sword she had been carrying in her belt and swung it at the chains holding Erza and Reiki. The chains sliced like butter and the two fell to the floor. Erza quickly requipped her white sarashi and a red hakama with yellow flames.
She lunged at the beast, a katana appearing in her hand and slicing at it left and right, all while avoiding it's electrifying tentacles.
The creature was caught off guard now that it's prey was no longer helpless. Erza made quick work of the creature despite the immense pain she was in.
In the end, the Titania stood victorious over the unconscious body of the creature.
We all stared in wonder at the queen of the fairies. Natsu smiled proudly "That's our Erza,"
"Reiki are you okay?" Gale knelt down beside him, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and helping him to stand.
"I'm fine," he assured.
"What on Earthland are you doing here?" Storm questioned.
"Its a long story," Reiki began. "The short version is after we beat Future Rogue, that woman Lilith teleported me to a desert in the Southern region of Fiore. While I was trying to get back to Fairy Tail, I accidentally stumbled upon Lilith's lab. I tried to fight her, but her magic was too strong and she captured me,"
"She was strong enough to take on you?" I asked, fear settling into my stomach.
"Yes," Reiki answered. "She's much more powerful than we thought. I saw her true strength in our fight and trust me when I say that she is leagues ahead of us when it comes to magical power,"
"She doesn't seem all that strong," Kali pointed out.
"She's concealing her real power somehow," Reiki explained. "During our fight, her magical presence was enough to make me freeze in my tracks. She's like nothing you've ever seen before,"
We were all nervous now. This woman whom we had never heard of before was strong enough to take down Reiki. The notion was almost unheard of, no one had ever beaten Reiki in a fight.
"She uses some kind of dislocation magic," Reiki continued.
"Is that how she's able to move objects with her mind?"
"Yes, she can move any organic or inorganic object across any plane of space. This includes teleportation and telekinesis. She doesn't need to see it to make it move either. As long as she knows it's current location and the location of where she wants it to be, she can move it,"
"That's crazy..." I whispered. No one else said a word.
Just then I heard footsteps coming from down the hall. Only, they sounded weird, as if they weren't shaped like a human foot.
"Guys Kyoka is on her way!" I announced.
"What? Are you sure?"
"I'm positive, unless there's someone else in this place with nonhuman feet,"
"Well we gotta get out of here," Kali stated, already flying toward the door.
"She's already too close," Natsu growled. "If we leave now, she'll see us and all of Tartaros will know that we escaped,"
"So what do we do?"
