Chapter 4: The Two Trains That Left Magnolia
The train station always buzzed with life, night and day, sun and moon, winter and summer.
Within the madness of a buzzing station four children and a white cat slipped onto a train traveling to the Blue Pegasus guild. It was the first of three stops they intended to make, that is if there previous stops proved to fail.
The seating arrangements were as they always were. Rowen and Jude would each throw a fit over who got to sit beside Molly, but in the end they ended up sitting side by side as they both became motion sick by the time the train began to move.
So as Jude and Rowen sat side by side in their own form of agony. The two girls sat together in a disturbing silence.
"What're you gonna do when you meet him?" Molly asked quietly, Psycho resting her head on her lap.
Gillian sat by the window, propping her elbow against the window sill of the window. She turned her head gently, looking over her shoulder to Molly as she pulled her arm back into her lap.
"I'm not sure." Gillian sucked in a breath, pressing her lips together tightly in a moment.
"Lillian never told me much about our mom and dad. She said dad was always working, and he died on a business trip. She said mom wasn't too nice and seemed more focused on finding a new husband rather than the death of our dad."
Gillian crossed her arms. "That's rough."
"Well, not really." Molly shrugged. "I have Lillian, and she was what I think most consider a mom to me. She helped raise me, and still is. I never had an actually family to look back on, so I'm happy with what I have, which is Lillian and everyone in Fairy Tail."
With a sigh, Gillian looked back out to the window to see the night sky. "I wish I'd talked to you sooner Molly, you're actually very nice to be around."
Molly blushed lightly as she grinned to the kind words. "Thank you, same goes to you."
"Guh...shoot me Molly, just shoot me..." Jude groaned in his seat across from them.
"Er...sorry Jude." Molly said with an apologetic wave.
The following morning, Felicity arrived yet again at the station with Zailo tagging along, much to her displeasure.
She sat herself on a bench as Zailo huffed and puffed.
"Come on! Let me go!" Zailo pleaded.
Felicity applied some effort to ignore him, putting one of her ears up to the speaker of her headset. The soft cushion enveloped her ear, and she hummed along to the tune blaring inside as Zailo grumbled.
"I told you, we can't afford it." Felicity huffed.
"Well you got on the train we came here on without a ticket, so why can't I just do that?"
"I bought a ticket when I got in the train, remember? It was very tasking and I almost got kicked off."
"Yeah...but...never mind."
Felicity lifted her head as she watched a cloaked man make his way towards him. He walked slowly, his boots banging against the wooden platform.
Two cats walked along side him, or rather one of them hung in his shoulder.
"Morning," he yawned as he waved lazily.
Felicity nodded her head as Zailo shuffled in his step.
"Sorry, Zailo demanded he come along." Felicity hummed. "I can just send him home--"
"Nah, I said I'd pay for his ticket, didn't I?" Liddan stated plainly.
The two went silent, Zailo not far from crying.
"No..." Felicity cried softly.
"Yes!!" Zailo shouted loudly.
Liddan snickered quietly as he pulled a bag over his shoulder.
"Okay, let's get going before the tr--"
He goes silent as a loud thunk rings through the platform.
Felicity and Zailo look down to the ground to see a metal arm sitting on the ground, the fingers sill moving.
Felicity bit her lip, as she was about to scream.
Liddan bit down in his lip as he hissed out a sigh. Lugi, who had been resting on the false shoulder was tightly hugging his face. Liddan calmly took his hand and scraped Lugi off the right side of give face, then bent down and picked up the arm, slipping it under his cloak.
"Sorry. That happens."
"Okay..." Felicity muttered quietly.
"Lugi..." Lugi hummed as she pointed to the train.
"She says it's time to go." Malcon translated. "And you should carry me."
"Okay, and no." Liddan huffed, guiding his team towards the train. "Alright, I won't get sick. I won't get sick. I won't get sick."
Liddan lunged over in his seat as his head clicked against the walls of the car as the train rattled continuously.
Chugging down the tracks, Felicity and Zailo watched awkwardly as the celebrated name was defeated by a train.
"So how'd ya loose your arm?" Zailo asked bluntly.
"Ripped off by a demon." Liddan joked out.
"He died." Malcon started. "But then he didn't."
"Well that makes sense..." Felicity muttered.
"I wait, but raising the dead is kinda complicated...wouldn't you be left cursed or something?"
Liddan lifted a finger, as though to say "one moment"
"It's kinda weird." Malcon stated. "I don't really get it. Lugi does, right Lugj?"
"Lugi!" She nodded.
"Yeah. See?"
Felicity laughed softly as she subtly leaned her head over to Zailo. "Who are these talking cats...sort of talking cats..."
"I'm Malcon, and this is Lugi! Queen of the pigs and my future wife!" Malcon announced proudly, grabbing Lugi and pulling her towards him.
"Lugi..." She huffed, pushing him away.
"She said I'm dreamy..." Malcon fibbed with an arrogant expression.
Felicity pulled her head out, peeping out the window parallel to her. "We've got time before we reach Oshibana...and it's kinda early. May we should pick up some snacks?"
"Waffles!" Zailo demanded with a childlike smile and thumbs up.
"No. You get peanuts." Felicity hissed as she stood up from her seat and into the aisle. "You want anything Liddan?"
"Death..." He groaned in agony.
"How about some crackers, kay?"
"Thank you..."
Felicity's short legs carried her out of the train car, where she searched for the cabin where she could get some food, like most trains had.
She went through several passenger cars, slipped in and out of the train. Surprisingly, she found no steward or attendant. She went to yet another train car, finding it to be storage rather than a passenger.
"Crap," She said aloud in a hush. "Went too far..."
She prepared to turn around before any members of staff found her in the back without permission, but her head turned as a loud crunching noise bellowed in the corner of the car.
She took just a single step out of curiosity, then another from worry. It could be one of the crew members, which could land her in trouble if she was caught. Her fears shrank as she imagined herself calmly explained her situation, and considered the fact that the crew member could possibly understand and simply lead her to where she wanted to go.
"Excuse me." She stated politely. "I'm sorry...I know I shouldn't be here...I just got lost trying to find a steward so I could get something to eat."
The rambunctious noise dies in an instant. As a heavy sigh erupts.
"I was eating." The shrill voice stated.
"Oh...cool." Felicity said awkwardly providing a thumbs up.
A slim man stood up from behind the crates. His shadow crawling up the wall as she watched it step past the boxes.
In his hands is a knife, small but sharp. He drags it across the walls, leaving a faint mark and a shrill noise as it dug into the wall.
"You look good enough to eat." He licked his lips. "Perhaps I should just eat you instead."
Felicity reached her hand down slowly to her Walkman, she drew her thumb to the case, flicking it open slightly to glance at the tape inside.
"Collective Smooth Jazz Mix" it read in her own scribbled handwriting.
She huffed out, realizing it was a tape she could do nothing with. "Crap..."
The man pounced at her, knocking her to the ground roughly as he held the blade over his own head. She drove her boot into his stomach, attempting to kick him off. He dropped the knife, however used his now free hand to thrash her hand into the ground.
Her knee drives upwards, drilling into whatever she could reach until the man gave up his hold of her.
She drew herself onto her feet and yanked open the cabin door, slamming it shut as she sped through the other train cars in an attempt to find help.
"Everybody!" She said to the crowded passenger car she found herself in. "Crazy knife guy is behind me!"
They all watched for a moment, from both disbelief and confusion.
Felicity sighed as she raises her hand up, waving it in a stabbing motion. "I'm gonna cut you fool! Ya know? Crazy knife guy? One's chasing me."
Before long, the passengers scurried out of their seats and through the cars in a panic. Felicity did regret her decision after a moment, where she realized she was once again at threat to solitude. The only change she was left was that she found herself in a different setting.
The door slid open, and Felicity jerked her head around at the sound of a gleeful hum.
He licked his lips as he lunged forward. "Don't let me stop you from running...I love it when I have to hunt for my meals..."
Felicity backed away slowly, raising her fists slightly.
"Of face it Felicity..." she hissed to herself. "You're an 85 pound woman...like you could take him."
He gave a wicked grin as he crept forward.
Suddenly a breeze of air brushed over Felicity's hair as a shadow crept over her eyes, and Zailo fell before her.
He'd made a clean jump right over her, and in his hands formed his zangetsu.
"Zailo!" She jerked her head around. "Did you just jump over me?"
"Don't worry 'bout it babe..." He said with the nod of his head. "You're really short...it's like hopping over a chair."
A knife breezes past his neck, slicing it thinly leaning a fare scratch to bleed. He jerked his head around and sees a knife hovering over the palm of the man as he shone a toothy grin.
"Threes company...so they say..." His hummed as his tongue whipped out of his mouth.
"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! This guy is creepy!" Zailo shook as a chill drove down his spine.
"I know, he jumped on me in the other car and was like 'I'm gonna eat ya'!" Felicity stated, imitating the man.
"What are ya, some kind of pedophile?" Zailo questioned casually.
"No! I'm a cannibal!"
Zailo pressed his lips together, hanging his jaw out for a moment.
"Ya know...I may not be the best to judge...but I think eating other people may be worse...but..."
"Oh shut up! You guys commit PDA! That's as bad as eating humans!" The man bellowed.
"What? Oh no we weren't!" Felicity snapped with the shake of her hips. "But why'd you call me babe?"
"Babe, I ain't got time for four syllable names. Let's stick with babe."
"How 'bout ma'am?" She said with a faint smirk.
"Pff--what? Wha..." Zailo glanced over his shoulder to see the cold and chilling grin she wore. "Yes ma'am."
"Atta boy." She crept out of the room swiftly, leaving Zailo alone with the creepy cannibal.
"Well screw you..." Zailo huffed.
Another knife dashes past Zailo, this time coming slow enough for him to dodge it.
It drew backwards, returning to its master.
As he watched the knives hover around the man, he couldn't help but smile. "I like your magic."
"Lust was complaining about you...some Spirit Sucker came and screwed her over." He hissed lowly. "Maybe she'll give me a treat if kill you for her..."
"Okay, dude. I'm not sure if you're actually talking about food or some sexual innuendo...because in this society...everything is secretly an innuendo."
"Shut up! I'm talking about food! Surprisingly enough, Lust is a really good cook!" The man huffed.
"Wait!" His eyes enlightened. "Are you one of the...oh what do you call em...?"
"The Seven Deadly Sins?" A soft and sharp voice of a woman hissed from behind.
"Yeah! On the tip of my tongue!"
"Moron..." It huffed.
He jerked his head around, seeing a woman with a green veil draped over her head stand before him. Her hair was a soft shade of violet, and two golden horns dug out of the side of her head, where the ends of the veil tied themselves to and hung peacefully before her face.
"Well this isn't fair." Zailo huffed, drawing his sword higher.
"There are seven demons of the Seven Deadly Sins, each holding the name of one of the sins. There is Gluttony, Pride, Greed, Lust, Sloth, Envy, and Wrath. We're for hire if you're interested."
He lifted his hands. "I'm good."
"That's fine, we're already quite occupied with our current job." She flicked her wrist gently, and suddenly the car shook, screeching on its track. The train roughly came to a stop, Zailo glancing out the window to see vines had crawled up the side of the car, bring it to a halt.
"It seems you're trapped now." Pride said with a wicked grin. "Gluttony, would you please go and get back onto the train as I take care of this child?"
He grinned as his knife shot through the window, shattering it. "See ya, milady!"
He dove out the window, dashing at a lightening speed down the track, leaving Pride to finish Zailo off.
"Now then little boy." Vines lined with sharp thorns tore through the wooden planks bellow them on the floor of the car. "Let's play."
"Wow..." Molly gasped. Her head looking up to the grand guildhall of Blue Pegasus. "It's amazing..."
"Big." Jude huffed out a breath. "Definitely very big."
"So do you think he's in there?" Gillian muttered in a low tone. "My dad...?"
"Of all the options..." Rowen admitted. "I really hope it isn't this guy..."
Molly turns her head. "Why's that?"
"Because Hibiki is married..."
Beautiful could be considered an understatement of the grand and wonderful guildhall, made so marvelous by it's guild master, Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki. Who was as beautiful as his guildhall, so he claimed.
As they stepped into the hall, it buzzed with life. However, in a very different sense.
There wasn't any fighting, shouting, and rambunctious chaos. It was orderly, composed, and seemed quite ravishing.
"Astonishing..." Gillian hummed.
Jude looked around, then nudged his shoulder into the side of Rowen lightly. He turned his head to the blonde who glanced at Gillian, Molly, and Psycho, who's attention was directed elsewhere.
"Hey, I get why you don't want Hibiki to be the father, we don't really need that drama...but..."
Rowen raises an eyebrow. "But what?"
"I think it kinda makes sense." Jude crossed his arms. "To start, from what my mom tells me, he's a total flirt. Plus, Gillian's personality really seems a lot like Hbiki's than Cana's. He's a lot more calm and collect, a lot like Gillian."
Rowen pressed his lips together as he put his hand on his waist. "I guess we'll see."
"Lord Ichiro! Look! Visitors!" A blond busty bimbo hummed as she dropped her head in front of Jude and Rowen. "It's Jude and Rowen!"
The sounds of screaming girls filled the hall as three busty women approach the young boys, brushing past Molly and Gillian in a hurry.
"Oh look at them! So cute!"
"They've got the cutest faces!"
"Feel these cheeks! They're so chubby!"
Rowen and Jude silently sobbed as their cheeks were pinched to what felt like no end.
"Ladies!" A chilled voice hummed. "Is that anyway to treat such fine gentlemen?"
The crowd of women shifts, allowing passage to a tall and slim man with deep black hair and thin dark eyes.
"My dear friends from Fairy Tail, how lovely it is to smell your sweet parfumes yet again..." He hummed with a whistle to his words.
Rowen and Jude stared in awe for a moment, before latching onto one another.
"No..." Rowen hissed. "Anyone but him."
"Oh goodness, it's Ichiro." Gillian groaned lowly, covering her eyes with her hand gently.
Molly, holding Psycho a bit tighter, turned her head to Gillian. "I'm sorry...I think I only met him once some time last year in Pride. But...who exactly is he and why are they so afraid of him."
Gillian puffed out hot air as she rolled her head back slightly. "That's Ichiro Nichiya Kotobuki. He's the son of the guild master of Blue Pegasus."
"Who's the guild master again?" Molly asked quietly.
Gillian drew her hand out, pointing to the small old man at the end of the counter, with a visible sent crawling of his skin.
"Oh...my."
"Though they look nothing alike, he might as be his clone regarding this personality. No one really knows who the guy's mom is. Around 20 years ago, Ichiya appeared with a child, and everyone simply learned to accept it."
"Master Ichiro!" The three ladies hummed as they bowed their heads honorably.
Molly turned back to Gillian. "Now who are those girls?"
"Well...there's Sakura, who's the daughter of Ren and Sherry from Lamia Scale. She's the pink haired gal. Then...there's Ellia, she's the daughter of Eve. And then their's Regina...that busty blonde."
"Oh." Molly glanced over at the stunning blonde.
"Her dad's Hibiki, but her mom is Jenny...so if Hibiki is my father...that makes her my half sister."
"Awkward..." Psycho hummed lowly.
"So what brings such men to our guild...?" Ichiro questioned quizzically.
"We're here to see someone." Rowen stated plainly, with the tint of irritation.
"Oh...I see..." His nostrils flared on his melodramatic face, sucking in half the air in the room as his arms pulled back in preparation of a grand exposition. "Perhaps, you, have come to seek advice in love from the great, and manly, Ichiro?!"
Gillian smacked her forehead as Molly stared in utter confusion.
Jude huffed out a breath as though he weren't surprised by the things transpiring. "No...that won't be--"
"Ha! You lie!" Ichiro's fingers flutter before his eyes. "For it is plain to see that you two boys are trapped in a....LOVE TRIANGLE!!"
"I vigorously deny everything!!" Jude shouted with a bright red face.
"Find no shame, my parfume filled men." Ichiro hummed as he lifted his head highly. "For you see...I too find myself ensnared in a harem."
His ladies hum boisterously from behind as they faun over the slim moron.
"No matter, but I may promise you two gentlemen this..." He cleared his throat. "No lady will fall for men so boyishly out of style."
"Oh dear...I can see where this is going." Rowen stated with a heavy sigh.
"Girls!" Ichiro hummed with the snap of his fingers. "Make these boys look like men!"
"Yes Don Ichiro!" They girls said with a curtsy.
"Darn it! Pick a name!" Jude shouted as he was dragged away by Sakura, Rowen being carried away by Ellia.
"Regina love," Ichiro cooed, taking the single girl's hand. "Why not give those strapping young ladies their own makeover?"
Regina smirked maliciously as her head turned slowly to the two girls and their cat.
"With pleasure..." She replied with the sinister whip of her long blonde hair.
She grabbed the two by the collars, dragging them through the guildhall where the two boys had been carried off to.
"No wait!" Gillian huffed, struggling to break free.
"No! Help us!" Molly sobbed. "I don't want to be made over!"
Swiftly being shun behind separate curtains. The four--five including the lazy Psycho--were forced into a new attire by the hands of the mad hostesses.
They emerged quickly, to their own surprise, being dressed in a far more formal attire than previously. The girls in lovely dresses, the boys in spiffy suits. They looked as though they were simply the clones of those who surrounded them.
"Oh, spiffy." Regina hummed, pleased by her success.
Molly's eyes sparkled as she spun in her new pink dress. "I've never felt so shiny!"
Gillian tugged at the green dress she wore with a huff. "Gee...even me?"
Jude and Rowen each stood hunched over in their new suits and delectable attire.
"I don't like this..." Jude huffed lowly.
"Snapping, I'd say." Sakura hummed as she ran her fingers through Jude's hair. "Come back in 7 years and maybe you and I can have a drink together."
"That scares me..." Jude said firmly with as he pressed his lips together.
Gillian huffed lowly as Molly fawned of the new appearance of Psycho and herself. She pushed towards Ichiro, tugging at the skirt of her dress.
"Ichiro, thanks for the dress and stuff, but we're not here for some sappy love advice. We're here to talk to Hibiki Lates."
"Oh..." Ichiro's eyes shined madly. "How astonishing! You're into much older men?"
"Given the circumstances...that is more than disturbing..." Gillian huffed.
Regina arched her back forward, leaning down to she was eye level with Gillian as she placed her hands gently on her hips. "If you'd like to meet my father, I'd be happy to take you to him."
"Really big si--I mean Regina?" Gillian smacked her cheeks lightly from shame of her mistake. "Don't rush...don't rush." She spoke to herself almost silently.
"Come on," Regina hummed, placing her hand on Gillian's shoulder as she guided her out of the dressing room. "He's over by the bar as usual."
As they slipped past the satin curtains together, the others prepared to follow. However, they were swiftly blocked by the over polished bodies of the trio remaining.
"Now my sweet parfumed men..." Ichiro hummed as he swept a bit of her from his face. "Now that you're alone...we may all agree it's time to have a serious talk about this little love triangle you have."
Jude and Rowen glance at each other, then Molly.
Jude roughly crosses his arms, Rowen unconsciously mirroring his actions as he did just the same. They turned slightly so their backs somewhat faced each other, Molly at the center holding Psycho in her hands.
She looked upon Jude's flushed face, and the two boys looked as though they were just about to burst. And in just a moment, Jude swiftly jerked his entire body around to face Rowen's.
"I've known her longer!" He huffed out, a heavy breath lingering.
"Well we have more in common!" Rowen hissed right back with the click of his tongue.
Molly found herself bump into the curved loveseat, being so startled by the spontaneously behavior of her two friends.
As she released a faint gasp from her surprise as she fell into the seat, landing with a cushioned thud, the two boys turned to look at her cherry red face.
"Uh...what are you guys talking about?" She stammered, almost anxiously.
Jude and Rowen each bit their own lips. Adverting eye contact for the next few moments.
"Is this about the train seating?" Molly muttered, beginning to realize her own ignorance, and that it was much more than the seating arrangement on their train rides. "If you want...we can take...turns..."
She looked to the red faces of the boys who stood before, who each looked down at the ground with bright red cheeks and their arms crossed tightly against their chest.
Molly blushed lightly as she recalled the faces on others she'd seen before. She looked down, beginning to comprehend what was occurring. In just a moment, she sprung up looking the two boys in the eyes.
"I'm sorry!" She could see the disappointment and shock from their eyes. "I really love both of you, but I only see you as friends." She bowed her head, Psycho still hanging in the center of her chest, bowing out of respect and perhaps just so she didn't have to look at those sad disappointed eyes. "Please forgive me..."
Her fears all seemed to be crushed in just a moment as she heard the faint laughter of Jude.
Molly's head rose as she looked to see Jude wiping a tear from his eyes, his mouth gaped open in constant laughter. Rowen imitated his actions, covering his mouth as he snickered quietly.
"Molly!" He choked out. "What're you crying for?"
Molly pulled her head up, swiping her finger under her eye quickly to find a tear growing just below her eyelashes.
"I...I was worried you wouldn't want to be my friend anymore."
"That could never happen." Rowen hummed. "Couldn't dream of a world without Molly's cute smile drowning out this idiot's stupid face."
"Wha--who ya calling stupid?!"
"Your face." Rowen puffed quickly.
Jude gives a swift right hook, his knuckles briskly impacting Rowen's nose in a moment's notice.
"Well on regard of my face--go screw yourself!"
Molly puffed her cheeks out, glancing over at the Blue Pegasus trio present through the whole mishap, and perhaps the ones to cause it.
Each with a tissue to their eye, they hummed in approval.
"Now that's a man..." Ichiro hummed as he gave an exaggerated sniff.
Molly laughed quietly as she watched her two good friends duke it out, and crossed her legs whimsically as she thought of how Gillian might have been doing.
Felicty huffed and puffed as her legs carried her through the many train cars. She had been knocked on her feet moments ago when the train had a violent quake, but that soon stopped and the train continued moving.
She made her way to the train car she had initially been seated in, finding Liddan with his head flat against the floor trying to crawl to freedom. Malcon and Lugi each tugged at an arm anxiously, attempting to free Liddan from his own paralyzation.
"Liddan--you okay?" She knelt down, rolling him over onto his back. His cheeks were puffed.
"Stop this train..." he sobbed. "I can't take it."
"Gee, have you considered taking off your shoes and socks, then walking around the carpet and make fists with your toes?"
"Why would I do that?" Liddan muttered.
"I dunno, just don't do it when terrorists are on the loose." She stood up, stepping over Liddan to grab her bag. She dug through it, pulling out a cassette tape and popping it into her Walkman.
"Thar we go...." She hummed with the flick of her wrist. "Liddan, I'll go stop the train, and when you can get off, make sure Zailo doesn't kill himself."
Liddan waits a moment, heaving his chest up and down as his hand struggled to form a thumbs up, then display it to Felicity.
"Great." She nodded, running out of the train car to find the engine room.
She arrived in a car filled with people, all beginning to calm down from her own personal startle she'd provided. Pushing through the crowd, she looked to a man in a white coat who was throwing orders around for everyone to remain calm. He had auburn hair, dark eyes, and a seal belonging to the Magic Council pressed against the pad of his shoulder.
"Yo," She said with a wave as she pried through the last person, stepping into the small opening beside the man. She slipped her foot just past him, preparing to step around him and enter the engine room.
"Ma'am, please." he slid his hand in front of Felicity, irritation tinting his voice. "Thanks to some wacko shouting 'bloody murder', all these people thing some murderer is on the train."
"Well, there is." Felicity grunted. "And I'm the wacko. He came at me with a knife and tried to eat me. In a cannibalistic way, keep that pervy mind of yours on its leash."
He wrinkled his face. "Oh, so you're the one who's giving me misery."
"Wait a sec--you don't believe me do you?"
"What are you, 75 pounds? How could some guy come at you with a knife and not even leave a scar?"
"Hey! I find that as offensive! I just have a strong will of not dying so screw your face!"
"Ma'am, please stop giving me the finger."
"Oh yeah! Well I think you suck! So bleh!" Felicity crossed her arms. "And who are you to tell me what to do?"
He flashed a badge quickly to Felicity. "Captain Basil Mace of the Rune Knights."
Felicity pressed her lips together. "Sorry, you put that badge away real fast, can I see it again."
"Oh, I got another badge for you."
"Oh...I see, so it's okay for you to give me the finger, eh?"
"Yeah, because I think you suck."
"I'm sorry, it's just my friend is fighting two deadly demons...or...sins? And I'm worried he's gonna almost get killed like last time. Or, actually get killed."
Basil crossed his arms. "Okay, we'll take a peep, got it?"
"You're saying that as though you aren't allowed to do it either?"
"I'm not, I'm just a passenger on this train, and for some reason...there wasn't any other staff here. So I had to take things into my own hands."
"Well, then les go." Felicity hummed, flicking her finger slightly to signal movement from the captain.
Her grunted as he stepped toward the door, roughly opening it. As wind gushed in, he grabbed Felicity by the wrist, dragging her out the door, then shutting it swiftly.
Felicity squinted her eyes helplessly, look out the side of the train to find a single car detached, shrinking into the horizon. She nudged at Basil, pointing. "We need to stop this train fast, cuz I think my friends trapped in there with those crazy peoples."
Basil nodded his head as he stepped over the gate of the train car, beginning to climb up the iron ladder of the coal car just in front of their own car. He offered his hand, Felicity taking it to climb up onto the piles of coal.
"Now my boots are ruined for sure." She huffed lowly, looking at the black dust climbing up her leather boots.
"You'll live." Basil huffed, his firm grip on her arm steadying her.
"CHOO! CHOO!" Cooed a familiar voice.
Felicity's eyes widened as she reached the top of the coal. She looked over to see where the engine whistled madly, as did a black haired girl with her head out the window.
"Come on! Maybe if we bring this baby to 88 we can travel through time!"
"Eleanor, someone might hear you."
"No...not these guys..." Felicity hummed lowly, a heavy breath hanging past her lips. They'd met once, and Felicity had been somewhat triumphant in a battle with Florence--the Sin of Lust. However, she had little intention to get into battle with her again.
Basil looked down to the two girls, and had little hesitation sliding down the pile of coal and stepping right into the belly of the beast.
Her brushed the faint bits of coal dust off his white coat.
"That's gonna stain." He huffed lowly as the two girls within the engine room each looked at Basil's bold approach.
"Well aren't you bold." The red eyed Florence hummed, a closed red umbrella hanging off her arm.
"Heh. Can I record you saying that, because most of my friends would not describe me as that." Basil huffed, attempting to brush his bangs past his eyes.
Eleanor glanced at Florence and whispered. "He's not supposed to be here, is he?"
"No, he isn't." Florence huffed. "This is for train employees only, so I politely ask you to return to your cabin, sir."
"Well, I'd love to do that, really. More than anything right now." Basil huffed. "Better yet. I want to go home and celebrate the birth of my best friend's first kid. But no. I'm here. And that sucks. Why am I here? Because I need to stop this train, and also you are not apart of the crew."
"Oh." Florence huffed lowly. "What gave it away?"
Basil looked down at the glamorously dressed and petite woman. Her red heels, satin red dress, bright red lipstick.
"Because you look like walking porn." Basil muttered. "She could pass since she's all dirty looking and...content rolling around in coal."
"That's the high life, son!" Eleanor spat, waving what she thought were perhaps gang signs.
Florence wore a sour expression, she stretched her arm out, her palm perpendicular to the ground.
"I haven't killed someone in three hours, so I guess it wouldn't be such a damper on my progress if I did it now."
Basil huffed, waving his hands. "Sorry, that was inappropriate, what I mean to say is you're a very--"
Gillian bowed her head, her curled locks bouncing off her shoulders.
"Good morning Mr. Hibiki..." She muttered anxiously. "I'm Gillian Alberona...uh...we've only met once or twice..."
"Oh, I remember you." Hibiki smiled as he slipped out of seat. "We met at the Grand Magic Games a few years back, didn't we. At the Queen's Ball. Your mother, she's Cana, isn't that right?"
Gillian's head rises as her rosy cheeks bob. "Y-yes! Cana Alberona!"
"How is she? It's been some time since I last spoke with her." Hibiki hummed.
"Would...you have happened to see her around 14 years ago..." Gillian muttered, twiddling her thumbs like a shy child.
"Well...I did see her during that battle, the War of Pride. We shared a few drinks as I recall--"
"So it's true! You are my father!!" Gillian huffed boldly.
Everyone was silent, except for the sound of shattering glass.
It came from Jenny, who had been listening moderately from the bar, with a small glass of ice tea to her lips that soon shattered by her merciless grip as she heard the frail girl mutter the words.
"You unfaithful swine." She hissed.
Her long curled blonde hair bobbed of her shoulders and onto her slim back as her waist swiftly turned to Hibiki, carrying her upper body with her.
"Oh boy..." Regina croaked as she took a step back, pulling Gillian back as well. The two were blinded by a bright light, as Jenny transformed into her Battle Form.
"Wait! Jenny! I swear we didn't do anything! I shared a beer with her and we didn't speak another word!!"
Hibiki cocked his neck, so his wet eyes faced Gillian. "Sorry kid, but I'm not your dad. Me and Cana haven't been 'active' since years before you were born."
"OH! So you HAVE been seeing another woman!!" Jenny bellowed, grabbing Hibiki by the ankle and swinging him towards herself.
Gillian sighed, crossing her arms. "I was rash...I'm sorry."
"Yeah..." Regina sighed. "Too bad, for a moment I thought maybe I'd have a little sister."
"An illegitimate little sister."
Regina shrugged. "I'd take your friends and run. Even if my dad has been faithful, my mom will drag in a thousand other past mistakes he's made to beat him down with."
Gillian nodded, then bowing her head to the chaos that occurred just at the bar.
"Thank you for you time...and sorry for inconveniencing you."
Hibiki, in his crippled defeat, rose a frail thumbs up as if to say "all is well". With that, the search continued in a swift departure from Blue Pegasus...as it crumbled.
Felicity closed her eyes. Believing the stranger she'd met just moments ago to be dead. She lay on the top of the coal piles, inches shy of being seen by those in engine room of the train that opened up to the avalanche of coal within its car. Her open belly was filthy from the coal, however, she felt too frightened to pity herself for it.
"My apologies ma'am." Her eyes snapped open at the familiar and annoying voice. "I understand what I said was out of line, but I can't allow you to do that."
She peered over the coal subtly, her head popping up above the lumps as she saw the sword pulled out just barely.
"I'd like to clear things up quickly rather than get us in a mess. So please, just stop the train." Basil hummed.
She looked down at the sword, recognizing it in just a moment. It was a legendary sword, given to only the highest of offices. Caravan Echo. It completely reflected magical energy, reverting it back to the original caster in a swift attack.
She looked so see the faint stripe of red on the woman's neck, marked by her own power.
Florence clicked her tongue in irritation. "Didn't expect you to come so heavily armed on a train ride."
He shrugged.
Eleanor looked to see the blood dripping down onto Florence's collarbone, pressing her lips together. Swiftly she dove in front of Florence, her arm swiping across Florence.
"It feels kinda crowded in here." She huffed, wiping her brow. "Why don't we take this outside?"
Basil raises an eyebrow, as they were on a train, and the idea of going outside was not a pleasant one. However, Eleanor shot her arm up, and in a flash, the two girls were gone.
And there was a hole in the ceiling of the engine room.
"Alright, place your bets now." Rowen said, raising a pointed finger up into the air. "I'm pulling 1000 jewels on Rogue, anyone else?"
"What? Why?" Jude huffed.
"Because he's super cool, that's why." Rowen muttered.
"Yeah, but I don't really see him going after Cana...maybe her going after him...that's possible."
Molly glanced over at Gillian, who looked tired from the continuous efforts and remarkable failure she'd previously made. She pressed her lips tightly together, squeezing the small Psycho who hung in her arms just a bit tighter.
"Hey Gillian." Molly a smiled tugged each corners of her lips. "Everything will be okay. So don't worry."
Gillian puckered her lips slightly, blushing as she redirected her attention. "I know..." She muttered.
Sabertooth was of a frightening size, much less elegant than Blue Pegasus, but grand nonetheless. Led by Sting Eucliffe, it was one of Fiore's strongest guilds.
Although Fairy Tail was officially considered the strongest, Sabertooth kept Fairy Tail on its toes for maintaining its title.
The relationship between the members of the two guilds was rather friendly, most of the members being quite familiar with one another. Not all of course.
As they entered the guild, they were soon greeted by Yukino, who knelt down to the children happily with a warm welcome to the guildhall.
"Um...may we speak with Rogue?" Gillian asked in a formal tone.
Yukino bobbed her head up and down with a nod. She turned around, dragging her hand forward to gesture to the children. They followed obediently as they heard the bellow of Sting as he sat drinking a whiskey at a table, Rogue and Minerva each along side him.
"Sting," she stated plainly, her hand swiping backwards to display the small party. "We have visitors."
"Hey! It's Jude!" Sting hummed as he cocked his head back to laugh. "How's my favorite little brat doing?"
The others turn their heads lightly to Jude, who rubs his temples.
"Yes, he always calls me that." Jude stated plainly. "Now just ask the question Gillian. And this time...try to be a little discrete."
Gillian puffed out her cheeks as he crossed her arms. "I'd like to speak with Mr. Rogue...if you don't mind."
Rogue rose an eyebrow, surprised by the request.
"Miss Minerva might want to step out for a moment." Molly muttered, diverting her attention from the somewhat frightening woman who sat along side Rogue.
"Okay, no I'm scared." Sting stated as Minerva stubbornly stood up and left the table with Yukino. It was just the kids and the twin dragons, nothing more. And as they sat around the table in silence, Rogue felt a push to break the silence.
"Your mom...her name's Kina, right?"
Gillian gags slightly. "Okay...definitely not you...or at least I hope not..."
"I'm sorry," Molly sighed, bowing her head. "I'm Molly Rose. We met briefly last year." She sat Psycho onto the table. "We're here because we're trying to find out who Gillian's father is. Her mother--Cana--hasn't told anyone who the real father is, so she asked me and my teammates to do some digging to find out who he is."
"There were three candidates. There are only two left, and you're one of them."
Rogue makes an expression showing his complete utter confusion for his candidacy.
"Why...would I be a candidate?" Rogue asked, propping his arm onto the table.
"Yeah, he didn't loose his virginity until Minerva." Sting stated boisterously.
"Shut up." He hissed, "I never even spoke to her--"
Sting snapped his fingers. "No--wait, remember? It was 14 years ago! At that bar in the hotel!"
Rogue and Sting sat at the bar's counter, each with a bottle in hand and a cat at their sides. Carla was there too, as was Happy.
"I'm impressed with you boys, sustaining so few injuries from all of that." Carla said, sipping from her cup of tea.
"Yeah, I can still hear ringing in my ears...but we'll survive." Sting laughed, rubbing his sore neck.
"Natsu's stuck in the hospital with Lucy still..." Happy muttered, crossing his arms. "But the two of them should be fine."
Lector nodded his head."I'm surprised Lucy was the one to--"
Happy hushed Lector violently. "Lucy said she didn't want any credit."
"Why?" Lector huffed. "She did a lot of good, she should be proud of herself."
"Frosch thinks so too!" Frosch hummed.
"I think I get where she's coming from." Rogue stated, crossing his arms over the counter. "It's a difficult thing to carry. And in the situation at hand, defeating a child as she did was less than heroic."
"But she saved the child's life!" Carla huffed. "She is a hero!"
"But at what cost?" Rogue sighed as he arched his back. "It's a complex situation, and that little girl isn't exactly free yet, she'll have to live with the weight of every death she caused for the rest of her life. Perhaps Lucy doesn't feel as though she provided the child with salvation, rather, she just brought her to a new kind of Hell."
The small group sat silently, beginning to feel as though this battle they'd fought was meaningless. However, there somber thoughts were soon interrupted as the heavily drunk Cana snatched the up around the necks, draping her arms over each of the men's shoulders.
"Aw...whatchu talkin 'bout? My girl Lucy? Ha, she's a piece a' work ain't she." She laughed hysterically as Carla let out a sigh.
"Heh...someone's had a lot to drink?" Carla huffed. "Maybe you best go off to your room, Cana."
Cana heaves a sigh, dropping her head against Rogue's. She turns slightly with red cheeks and a sinister grin. "Carry me, hot stuff?"
"Ohh...." Mira hummed in the background. "Forbidden love..."
Sting sighed as his arm braced Cana, slipping out of his seat. "Come on, Rogue, let's take her up to her room."
Rogue huffed in irritation as he assisted Sting carrying the drunk out of the bar. As they made there way to the lobby of the hotel, they sped over to the elevator. Pressing the button, they found no reaction from the elevator.
"Oh." Said the bellboy behind the counter. "I'm sorry, the elevators are currently out of order. Two men had an...ice battle inside."
"Ha! I bet I know who!" Cana laughed waving her hand as Rogue and Sting each dropped their heads down in agitation.
"Cana...what floor are you on?" Sting croaked.
"13."
"Great."
By floor 7, the two boys had suffered enough. Sting groaned as he dropped Cana into Rogue's arms. He arched his back forward, dropping his hands to his knees as he stood was an aching body.
"Holy crap...why is this so hard?" Sting sobbed. "I'm the friggin' guild master! I should be able to do this!"
Cana groaned in Rogue's arms, mumbling nonsense. Rogue huffed out a sigh as he heard footsteps approach in a slow tune.
"Oi!" The voice slurred in a cocky tone.
Cana lifted her head up to see the Drunk Falcon himself.
"Hey! Bacchus! When'd all you boys get here?" Cana laughed, seeing double from her drunk state.
He laughed as he crouched down to meet Cana's eyes. "You're sizzling as always."
Rogue and Sting shared a look as they found themselves caught in the two's flirtatious laughter.
"Hey, hate to kill the chit chat, but me and Rogue here have been carrying this bimbo up 7 flights of stairs..." Sting spat tensely.
"Oh, well I can take her the rest o' the way." Bacchus hummed, his firm hand gripping around Cana's arm. "What floor babe?"
"Whichever floor the keep the booze." Cana hummed.
"And then he took her, and they left." Sting said plainly, concluding the story.
"So...that must mean..." Jude turns his head to Rowen. "Rowen owes me 1000 jewels! Pay up sucka!"
Molly violently clears her voice, as if to say in the most polite way she could "shut up".
Gillian pressed her lips together, wearing an expression that made her look as though she were close to tears. After an audible sniff, she bowed her head quickly, her hair flipping off her shoulders and down past her chest.
"Thank you for helping me. But I must be going now." Gillian flipped her head right back up, and jerked her body into the opposite direction, grabbing Molly's arm and dragging them out of the guild hall; Jude and Rowen followed along behind, trying to catch up.
"Gillian!" Molly gasped, panting lightly as they ran past the doors of the guild. "You know who your dad is!"
Gillian turned her head to Molly, her cheeks a bright pink as her feet tumbled over one another.
"I know."
"Crap!" Basil shouted, his sword following back into its scabbard. He jerks his head around, to see Felicity's coal covered face peaking out of the coal, and her frail tiny body slide down the pile into the room.
"That went well...those girls scare me..." Felicity muttered.
"Now's your chance to stop the train, I'll handle the girls." Basil huffed, leaping up to grab onto the crippled edge of the makeshift sunroof. He swung his body up through the ceiling, disappearing from the engine room where Felicity stood alone.
She brushed the coal dust off her knees as she examined the extravagant controls of the train.
"Well this should be easy." She blatantly lied to nobody.
She looked to see a long lever with a red handle. She assumed it was the breaks, and began to pull on it.
She found this meaningless, as she was around 85 pounds, and I'm sure you can guess why her attempts were futile.
"Screw this crap." she grunted shoving her hand into her bag and rummaging through assorted cassette tapes. She pulled one out that read "Miraculous Mix Vol. 1". She popped the tape into the player, and heard the soft hum whistle through her headsets as she slipped them over her ears.
https://youtu.be/8ATzReD4f6A
As the music soon began to blare, she clenched her fist gently, pumping it as her lips pressed tightly against each other.
"Okay," she said to herself before sucking in a deep heavy breath and gripping the lever firmly. In a quick thrust, she pulled down on the lever with all the new found strength she possessed.
The lever slid into its rightful place and the train trembled like a beast. As the lever snapped off, Felicity fell backwards then forward again as the train halted violently.
She rolled her chest up, dragging her head along as it bobbed off her neck as though she were a rag doll. She rubbed the back of her head, wounded by its collision with the hard floor.
"I hope Liddan's okay now." Felicity huffed.
Several Minutes Earlier.
Basil stood on top of the moving train, his feet attempting to discover some kind of friction, allowing him to latch onto the roof and remain stable.
The wind blew madly against the back of his head, and he swung his head around consistently searching for the two girls who had left.
Suddenly a gush of window blows past him, and he feels a sharp pain against his shoulder. He turns his head and finds a red line drawing down his chest slowly.
He was bleeding?
"A priori...datum perficiemus munus."
The voice slithered into his ear, like a weeping willow. He looked to find before him a dark figure with an insolent frown worn on her once merry face.
Her bright red eyes burned as the demonic wings dolled off her pale back, her hair brushed over her shoulder, wrapping around the back of her slender neck. And the gold horns that curved out of her skull complimented the crisp tail that lolled with the train as it rushed down the rails.
Basil simply rose his hand, pointing his finger in a casual manner as he stated, "those weren't there before."
"We're demons." The lustful voice hissed behind him. "Expect only the finest."
Blood ran down the wrist of the demonized Eleanor. Creeping down to her ring finger as it dripped off her nail.
Her hand rose up, and the blood drew from her wrist. It thrust forward in a long strait line. The sun making it shine in a sloppy manner. It solidifies, and became a long, slim sword.
Metallic, but still red as blood.
She drew the sword back in a single hand, her other levitating lightly.
"Eleanor." Florence stated. "Go ahead."
Eleanor thrust forward, her wings carrying her at a mad speed as she dove towards Basil.
His trembling hand drew his own blade anxiously, but as he pulled it from its harness, he watched he red blade alive right through it.
"What the..." He looked at the broken blade, the top of it cut clean off.
"Don't underestimate her power." Florence stated. Basil turned his head as he watched the blue haired girl stand proudly of her demonic partner. "She's stronger than even I--"
The train shakes badly as it breaks into a rough halt. Florence is thrust backwards, and Basil into her. The two are rocked right off the train, falling roughly.
As Florence opens her eyes, she sees Basil scrunched up face inches before her own. He hisses lowly, as he had hit his head against the hard ground.
She looked to see, that as the two of them fell off the train roof, Basil had grabbed her into his arms, and allowed her to land on his own body rather than the ground.
"Oh good..." He huffed out in a sore breath. "She stopped the train."
Florence looked down with a confused expression. He was her enemy, but he hurt himself simply in her favor.
Not sure how to respond, she kneed him in the crotch, and rolled off of him as he screamed in his own severe agony.
"Why...?" He sobbed as he bit harshly on his lip.
"What are you planning?!? Huh?" Florence huffed bitterly, crossing her arms over her own chest protectively. "Trying to make a move on me!"
"Of course not! Oh gosh! Did ya have to knee me in the crotch?" Basil sobbed. "I've lived a long happy love never knowing what this felt like..."
Florence grunted in frustration, leaning down to pick up the umbrella she'd previously dropped as she fell off the train. She pulls a pair of sunglasses over her eyes as she opens her umbrella to shield the sun.
"Honestly." She huffed. "Men are the most vile creatures on earthland. They're lustful, slobbering beasts who can't keep their hands to themselves--"
"Sorry." Basil said, silencing Florence quickly.
Florence pressed her lips together, gripping her slim fingers tightly around her umbrella.
"Some guy must've hurt you real bad for you to hate men so much."
Florence shut her eyes, and sucked in a breath quietly.
"Shut up." She huffed.
The great beast landed atop the train, shaking it as her feet roughly met the roof.
"Eleanor. You can stop if you'd like." Florence stated quietly. "We'll get Pride and Gluttony and just go."
Eleanor looks down at Basil, drawing her sword back yet again, preparing to strike.
This time, to kill.
Suddenly, the train rumbled as its windows shattered.
Out into the light, came Liddan.
Malcon carried him with a wicked grin as they flew o to the top of the train.
His feet met the roof and Eleanor turned roughly to him.
"Thanks Malcon." Liddan hummed, cocking his head back to the blue cat with a grin. "You and Lugi go find Felicity and Zailo, 'kay?"
Malcon saluted his partner, giving a hardy "Aye!" as he flew back into the train to bring Lugi along for their search.
He looks down and sees Basil looked up at him curiously. They each make a face, seemingly mirroring each other.
"Do I know you?" They each say, not sure of the answer.
Eleanor draws her sword to her front, gripping it with each of her hands. Her hand parts, and in a bloody reformation, so does the sword.
She carried two swords, one in each hand.
"Cool." Liddan nodded, pulling his arm up and back to grab the handle of the sword strapped tightly to his back. "I have a sword too. Only one. But it's really cool."
He drew the sword, it's dark blade shining lowly in the light of the sun. As he lifted it over his head, sharp flames surged off the blade.
"You've got me all fired up." He stated with a smirk. "So let's go."
Felicity ran quickly through the train quickly, breezing past the remaining people until she reached the end.
She opened the door quickly, the light shining in her wet eyes as she painted from her continuous running. She squinted as she looked down the tracks, seeing the tiny car where she knew Zailo was.
She looked at the great distance between the car and her self. And sighed in defeat.
Zailo was almost proud of himself. He wished Meredith could see him now.
Two enemies at once, rocking it as a Fairy Tail wizard.
He was boss.
He drew his zangetsu back, slicing the dark green vines that sliced through the floor and windows of the train.
Gluttony threw dagger at him that he quickly dodged and reflected with his long blade.
Pride clicked her tongue angrily. "This is meaningless! We're wasting time."
"Oh come on! I just want a taste!" Gluttony huffed.
Pride flicked her wrist, and a vine twisted around Gluttony's thin leg, dragging his twig like body past Zailo and out the window of the car.
"You won't seem to die." Pride huffed. "But I don't want you following us." She rose hand hand, and vines wrapped tightly around the car, sinking it into the ground roughly.
Sun became blocked by the thick green plants that grew.
Pride stood just outside the openly door, a vine wrapping around her waste.
"I doubt this will kill you, but it should hopefully save me time. Because frankly." The vine pulled her out the open door. "You're just not worth it."
As Pride was swept out the only remaining entrance, it closed with a vine darting upwards and climbing over the car to bind it further.
He smirked to himself.
"Please, I could get out of this with just a pair of trimmers." He scoffed as he pulled his sword back.
He stabbed through an open window, cutting though a vine admirably.
However, the shrill screams that emerged as his blade touched the vines made him quickly dive backwards, covering his ears.
"Help! Help! Please!!" The voice cried out in agony.
Zailo immediately recognized it as a spirit, and went silence to listen to its cries.
"Please!! Someone! I'm trapped! I'm trapped! It hurts! It hurts!!"
Zailo ground his teeth. "Where are you!? I can't see you!"
"Save me! Save me!!"
Zailo jerked his head around. "Why can't I see you?! Where are you?! Please tell me?!"
"Help me! Please! Save us from this Hell!"
"I hear you! Just--"
"Help us!
"Save us!!"
"Please!"
"Someone!"
"Anybody!"
"We're in agony!"
"Help us!"
"Please! It hurts!"
Zailo hung his head low, cowering down as he covered his ears.
"Stop it..." He cried out with a sob. "Please! Just stop!"
"Zailo!"
"Why Zailo!?"
"It hurts!"
"Why have you done this to us?"
"Help us Zailo!"
"Please!"
"Why are you doing this to us?!"
"Zailo!"
"Zailo!"
"Zailo"
"Zailo!"
"Zailo!"
"ZAILO!"
A harsh slap brings Zailo back to reality.
He looks through his wet eyes to find a blur of Felicity.
Her chest heaved, and her cheek dropped lightly with sweat.
"Zailo. Calm down." She panted out, dropping into her knees so her eyes met Zailo's.
He wiped his eyes as the voices went silent.
"Felicity?" He muttered.
She waved her hand, as though she were saying "I'm alright".
"The..." she began with much difficulty. "The train...it kept going...and goin...and your car stopped....like a long time ago...and the train was like...a mile away...and then there were goats..."
"What?"
"Goats...they attacked me...I had to fight them off with my wits..." Felicity waved her hand as she gasped for breath.
"How'd you do that?"
"I picked it up, and threw it." Felicity fell slightly onto her side, propping herself up with her arm. "The others then followed...I think he was their king..."
"Goats don't work that way."
"Yeah, you're telling that to the person who just fought off a pack of goats, huh?"
Zailo looked at the cocky grin Felicity wore for just a few silent moments. The bitter expression that hung on his face soon faded Felicity's smile. She lifted her head lightly, as if to say "are you alright?".
In a moment, Zailo threw his arms around Felicity, holding her tightly as he just cried.
He didn't say why, and Felicity could only guess where his sorrow came from. So in pity and sympathy to her partner, she pulled her arms forward to rub his back, and let him cry silently on her shoulder.
Basil looked up to the spectacle of a battle, partly in awe, and party in thankfulness he wasn't fighting it.
"You're surprised aren't you."
Basil turned his head, and found Florence--who he swore was standing just a moment ago--sitting in a fold up lawn chair--her red umbrella bound to it to block the sun--with a cup of warm tea in her hands.
"What the--where'd this come from?!?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Florence hummed softly as she sipped her tea.
He hung his arms over his knees, sitting with his legs open as his eyes followed the intense scene above.
The three blades were all active. Liddan holding his ground by his brute strength, Eleanor holding her ground by getting off it--as she had a set of wings.
Fire swept off the blade and into the air, Eleanor evading its burn by slim chances. Her tail whipping around as she danced atop the roof in swift motion.
Her dual blades struck Liddan's, as he struggled to push it back against her own strength. He rushed forward with a blast of fire granting him energy. He draws his blade forward, slicing Eleanor in the chest.
Her skin burn against the hot blade, blood slipping past the wound.
It was that moment, where Florence watched Liddan draw his sword back in a motion that could only indicate his intentions to impale Eleanor, that she decided to intervene.
She rushed out of her seat as she watched the blood dig into Eleanor, driving right into her abdomen.
Eleanor did little more than grunt in reaction to the drastic attack, but soon, the blade caught fire, and Eleanor began to burn.
Florence pulled her hand forward, sending any water she could find towards Eleanor. From the grass, the trees, the clouds.
A flood or water gushed towards Eleanor silencing the fire, and sending Liddan and his katana flying off the train as it gushed in his face.
Basil watched as Eleanor slowly floated in the levitating pool of water above the train, watching as Florence slowly drew the water back to the earth.
The pool of water collapsed like a popped bubble, and the water mixed with blood flooded out onto the ground, sinking into the earth slowly.
As Eleanor fell into the ground, Florence rushed to catch her companion, sweeper her up below the arms.
Her scrawny arms sank slightly as they were plunged by the weight of Eleanor.
"Gosh darn it..." She muttered in a low tone. "Where's that idiot Greed when you need him?!"
Liddan spat water from his mouth as his wet pink hair hung over his eyes.
"Hey!" He barked, stumbling over himself as he attempted to grab his weapon to continue his attack.
"Eleanor, are you okay?"
The demon form of the girl had long since faded into a cheeky grin and rosy cheeks.
"It's just a flesh wound." She hummed with a shrug.
"You were impaled."
"Your point is?"
Liddan pulled his weapon up, giving a war cry as it soon caught fire.
Florence did little in response. Simply easing her palm and ending a massive wave to throw the man back to his place in the mud.
"Gosh darn it--GREED!!" Florence bellowed in frustration.
"Yeah?"
Reo sat atop the train looking down on his teammate. His hands were filled with pretzel packets and saltine crackers. His eyes widened as he looked down on Eleanor. "Lil' sis--"
He jumped off the train, landing and grabbing Eleanor to pull her head up gently. "Hey kiddo--you okay?"
"Never better." Eleanor laughed.
"Where's Pride and Gluttony?" Florence asked quickly.
"Already gone, I took 'em into the woods for now." Reo explained, pulling Eleanor into his arms as he stood.
"Hey--" Liddan shouted, arising yet again.
Florence groaned as she rose her palm, however was surprised when Liddan jumped clear of the foredooming water, his sword ready to attack the small party.
Florence inched back, raising her hand in a desperate move to defend herself, but was astonished as he saw a sword raised to his own.
It completely deflected his attack, the flames of his blade blasting into Liddan's own face.
He squinted as the fire swept past his eyes. As it faded, he saw himself staring straight into the eyes of Basil, who wore a cold glare.
"That's enough." He said in a calm yet bitter tone. "You aren't warranted to attack any further. They aren't making any offensive moves."
Liddan ground his teeth lightly as he gripped onto his sword.
"Get out of here, quick." Basil hissed.
Reo didn't hesitate to disappear, teleporting Eleanor away from the train in a flash of light.
Florence looked with doe eyes at Basil.
Her lips pressed together as her eyebrows furrowed.
"Thank you." She spat quietly in a rushed voice. Basil opened his mouth to speak, but was beat as Reo reappeared to snatch Florence up.
The two disappeared, and Basil felt a rough kick in the head from Liddan.
"Come on! You weren't gonna even arrest em'?!" He bellowed, waving his arm around.
Basil, who had been knocked on his face, quickly pushed himself up, and turned right to Liddan with a grim stare.
"You're the only one I ought to be arresting! The council has loads of crap on you and your crimes."
"Crimes?! What are you talking abo--"
"If not for your mass destruction on your jobs, it's you're psychotic genocide! You're a pyromaniac and you've slaughtered countless dark guild members without justice. You may think you're a vigilante, but to me you're nothing but a cold blooded murderer!"
Liddan pressed his lips together, squeezing his fist tightly.
"Okay, this is bothering me. How do I know you?" Liddan spat, breaking the serious tone.
"Seriously--" basil sighed, drawing his head up as he rubbed his temples. "Yeah, I know. I feel like I know you outside of work...but where was it."
"Come on...was it a party?" Liddan muttered.
"It was before the arm, I know that." Basil said, tapping his finger on Liddan's metallic shoulder.
"So before last February...ummm." Liddan rubbed his chin before snapping his fingers. "A wedding! That's it!"
"Wait, the only wedding I've been to in the past couple years is my friend's wedding. You know Coladome and Sabrina?"
"Yeah!" Liddan snapped his fingers. "Isn't Coladome that one guy from the family--the--the Pollen's! With the little dead girl!"
"Seriously, I knew her when she was really little, don't refer to her like that." Basil huffed.
"Sorry, I can't remember her name." Liddan sighed. "It was a flower or virgin or something."
"Marigold." Basil huffed. "How the heck did you get invited to their wedding?"
"I can't remember, how are they anyway? Divorced yet?"
"Seriously?" Basil groaned. "Sabrina just gave birth. A little boy. His name is Atticus."
"Oh cool. Good for them." Liddan then punches Basil across the cheek, sending him back to the earth. "Why didn't you arrest those guys!?!"
"I'm the only officer on this entire train! All I can do for now is launch an investigation. We don't even know what they're guilty of!" Basil huffed. "Besides, ever since the council sided with The Brotherhood of Order last year, all of Fiore has been on their backs. They've got to be careful now. Which means we don't have as much power as before, and we can't go around arresting wizards just like that without causing a fuss. That's one of the only reasons we can't bring you in. Because for one thing, Fairy Tail has an army of supporters, and you're only harming individuals who are guilty of crimes. Granted, your sentence is way above what it ought to be...at least you are cleaning up where the council can't."
"You're welcome."
"I wasn't thanking you." Basil stands up, his finger pointed at Liddan like a dagger. "You're not a hero Liddan. You're a killer."
Liddan bit on his lip lightly, feeling a rush of guilt for just a short moment.
Liddan had changed, and for the worse. And he'd known it all long.
"Liddan!"
He turned his head to hear a shaking of the track as he saw the last cars of the train being slowly returned to its place.
He ran down to meet the end with Basil slowly following, seeing Felicity and Zailo standing at the front of the car with Malcon and Lugi.
"Oh, of course she's with you." Basil huffed, crossing his arms.
"Hey, thanks for stopping the train!" Liddan said with a wide grin stretching across his face.
"Wait--you stopped the train because--" Basil groaned as he smacked his hand against his forehead. "You're a dragon slayer, it was for you're gosh darn motion sickness."
"Not just that! I kinda did it for Zailo too..." Felicity shrugged.
"Yeah! Cuz she kinda cares about me!" Zailo nodded.
"But she did save us." A few men emerged from the cut off train cars, nodding their head to Basil and Liddan.
Basil immediately recognized them as the crew members of the train. He rushed to the cars to greet them.
"We're alright. Those demons came into the engine room and snatched us up. Soon we found ourselves in the storage cars, locked up in boxes. That hungry guy was guarding us."
"Well why'd they want to take over the train in the first place?" Liddan huffed.
"They redirected us." The conductor huffed. "There was a place the track split several miles back, they turned us the other way. And it's good you stopped us. The end of this track was never finished, so we were just headed to nowhere."
Liddan crossed his arms. "So why the heck were they sending us this way?"
Basil glanced into the horizon seeing a thick patch of trees growing into a thick forest.
"That man, before he took those girls said he had left someone in the forest." Basil stated.
Liddan's eyes widened, as well as his grin.
"So that means they're in the forest." Liddan hummed.
He broke into a sprint, snapping his fingers to the two cats. "Malcon! Lugi! Go grab our things! We're making a detour!"
"What?!" Felicity muttered.
"We're going into the woods and catching those demons!"
"WHAT?!"
"Yes!" Zailo rose his hands up. "Alright!"
"I lived in the woods for almost a week...I'm not doing that again!" Felicity huffed, watching Zail gladly leap of the rails on the car to join Liddan.
"Come on Felicity! It'd be no fun without you!" Zailo huffed.
Felicity glanced at Basil who shook his head in frustration.
"I swear. That guy is giving himself a death sentence..."
"Hey loser." Felicity huffed, hopping off the car and swaggering over to Basil. "When this train is brought back to order, can you do a few things for me?"
"I dunno. You just greeted me using the term 'looser'..."
"Please." Felicity pulled a slip of paper from her pocket. "Here. This is all I need you to do. The first thing is personal. I need you to check with my old apartment. I asked my landlady to send me my stuff but she said there were some problems...second is more business related. The Sorcerer Weekly Archive. Something went missing and we need to know what it was."
Basil took he slip of paper, glancing at the instructions and address scribbled on it. He huffed lowly as he dug into his own pocket and pulled out a portable lacrima.
"Here." He said, tossing it into her hands. "So I can contact you."
"Thanks."
She slips it into her pocket, nodding her head. "Thanks Captain Dorkulous."
"What's your name?"
"Felicity." She grinned softly.
"Keep an eye on Liddan for me, okay?"
She nodded, and turned around to chase after her two partners in a rush. Basil watched her sprint as the two cats emerged with billiards of luggage in their small paws, worrying about what trouble the group would find.
"Alright. I won't pay until it's confirmed." Rowen huffed as Jude smirked beside him.
"I don't care. I'll get your money in the end either way." Jude huffed.
"Guys! Be serious. This is a big deal for Gillian." Molly scolded.
"Sorry..." The two muttered as Gillian stood cross armed in front of the wild guild door.
She sucked in a breath before opening the door, and let the boisterous noises of the guild fill her ears.
"WILD~~" was one of the many words shouted as the group entered.
And as Gillian entered, she couldn't have been more surprised to find her mother sitting happy beside Bacchus as the bar counter.
"Gillian! You finally made it!"
"Mom!?"
The small group of children and their cat rushed to the bar, seeing Cana sitting there drinking a beer with Bacchus.
"Hey, this your little kiddie Cana?" Bacchus hummed, leaning down to look at Gillian's almost wet eyes. "How old are ya sweetheart?"
"Fa...fa..." Gillian repeated, her chest heaving.
"She'll be 14 at the end of this year." Cana laughed. "Cute isn't she?"
"Just like her mom." Bacchus smirked.
"She's got her dad's eyes."
Gillian sniffed as her eyes grew wet.
"All wet and sad...heh." Cana hummed, pulling the bottle to her lip.
"14," Bacchus slurred. "Wait a sec." He pulled his head back, as though he were doing math in his head. He counted on his fingers, then glanced down at Gillian, then to Cana. "When's her birthday?"
"December 28th."
He looks back at Gillian, then at Cana.
"You're not married..."
"Never once." Cana hummed.
"And her dad..."
"Is a drunk idiot."
Bacchus looked down at Gillian, and sobered up within the blink of an eye.
He fell from his seat, wrapping his arms around the child, lifting her up off the ground.
"I'm a friggin' dad!!" He shouted swinging Gillian around.
"Pay up ya ol' son of a gun." Jude laughed, cocking his head back with a smirk.
Bacchus pulled his arms back so he could look at his teary eyed daughter. "Hey--do you drink?! Come on, let's drink--"
"Uh..." Gillian muttered. "I'm 13."
"Okay, get her some juice, I want you to tell me everything about you. All I know is you don't drink, tell me more." Bacchus sits Gillian down on a stool, staring her in the eye anxiously as her friends soon joined at the seats beside Cana.
"Uh...I like to read." Gillian began, "I can play the piano..."
"Ha! Hear that boys! My kid's a genius!!"
"WILD!!" The men around bellowed.
Gillian pressed her lips together, before breaking into a swift laughter.
Molly turned her head lightly to her teammates with a smile.
"We done good." Molly hummed.
"Aye!" Psycho nodded with the raise of her small paw.
"Wait." Rowen rose his hand up silencing the celebration of the team. "Are we getting paid for this?"
"Crap...we never asked!" Jude huffed.
"You guys expected to get paid?" Molly muttered. "I mean...we were looking for her dad. Did you intend to make her pay?"
Rowen and Jude look at each other for a few short moments, than back at Molly. "...no....?"
Molly laughed as their mission came to an end, what they could only assume to be a success. And as the night soon fell, the four children, drunk woman, and psychotic cat would all return home on a train headed to Magnolia, one without a group of demons there to terrorize them.
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Welp! Here ya have it! Finally updated the chapter! I'm trying to keep them shorter, however that wasn't the case here...as I went over 12,000 words. I'll try stopping around 10,000 from now on, but no promises.
I'd like to see your guy's predictions on what's happening with all the new characters as well as old.
Apparently Liddan's in trouble with the law...and Coladome and Sabrina had a kid!!
Also, what do you think Felicity's magic is? It's not "Magic Mix Tape" or nonsense like that, it's an actual magic introduced in the original series. It will be explained in the next chapter, but I'd like to hear your guess before that.
I intend to use this same format as before. Since there will be one large continuous story throughout most of this volume with Liddan, Zailo, and Felicity, I've decided to do this thing where I switch back and forth with other groups in Fairy Tail allowing their own story to progress as the main one does.
So it's like one big arc with mini arcs inside it. Arc-ception....
Next lil' arc is gonna be about Laurie and Sylvie...which I'm excited about. It's gonna be really awesome...hopefully.
Next chapter is likely to come sooner, as I don't intend to make it incredibly long, and more like the chapter before this one. Kinda of an intro to the next conflict.
So that's my thing...and I hope you like it.
Share your theories, hopes, expectations, comments, and so on. I love hearing from you guys!!
