Chapter 21 - Nashi Vs. Bacchus

"I expect to see a clean fight out there understand," Yajima announced to the competitors.

"Toby is so ferocious! Mad dog!" Jason exclaimed.

I stared into the arena, excited for the next fight to start. I was so caught up in my excitement that I didn't hear Lucy running into our section.

"Hey guys, did I miss anything?" Lucy questioned.

"You're just in time," Gray confirmed. "That dog dude from Lyon's guild is up."

"It's the Raven Tail wizard we should watch," Erza stated.

"You know he won't play fair," Lucy added. I glanced around the stadium and noticed several eyes on me. This made me uncomfortable and put me on edge.

"Why's everyone staring at me," I pondered aloud.

"It's probably because of Natsu and Gajeel's little outburst about you being from the future," Gray answered.

I looked back at the staring eyes. The way they were looking at me just seemed to put me on edge. I couldn't put my finger on it, but something felt off about this whole ordeal. It felt as though something was about to happen, something bad.

I was so lost in thought, that by the time I came back to reality the match was over. How did I miss the whole match?!

"Wait, what happened?" I questioned.

"What are you talking about, you just watched the whole thing," Gray challenged.

"I was lost in thought I guess,"

"Oh," Lucy responded. "Well the dog guy from Lamia Scale lost and Raven Tail got ten points for the win. They didn't cheat, but the guy was super mean to him,"

"Let's move on to round two in today's head to head battles," Chapati announced. "First, from Quattro Cerberus, it's the god of wine, Bacchus!"

"Wait, Bacchus?" I leaned over the railing and peered into the arena to see the grinning drunk standing proud.

"Something wrong,"

"Yeah, in my time Elfman is the one who fought Bacchus. He's not competing in the games though, because... Oh no. I took his spot on the team!"

"So who's going to fight Bacchus?"

"From Fairy Tail Team A, it's Nashi Lockflame," Chapati announced.

My heart stopped. Me?! My hands started sweating and my heart started racing a million beats per minute.

"Are you okay," Lucy questioned. I shook my head as sweat dripped down the back of my head. I clamped my hand over my mouth.

"I think I'm going to throw up," I muttered. Everyone started freaking out looking for some kind of trash can I could throw up in.

"There's one in the hall! Go!" Gray instructed. I nodded and made a mad dash looking for a trash can. It was a few minutes before I finally made it. I leaned over the trash can just as the foul bile escaped my mouth. I heard running footsteps from around the corner as someone slid on the stone floor.

"Nashi?" By the sound of his voice I could tell it was Natsu. I felt his hands pull my hair out of the way as I threw up again. "No more whiskey for you, what's wrong?" he muttered. I couldn't help but grin at his comment.

"That's what you always say," I sat back on my knees and looked him in the eyes. I wiped away the bit of bile on my lips and grinned at him. "It's my turn to fight in the one on one battles. I'm up against Bacchus," I explained.

"I know you'll do great," Natsu comforted. He rubbed his hand on top of my head, messing up my hair in the process. That's when I noticed he had changed out of his purple uniform and into his usual black and orange coat. He seemed to be feeling a lot better than what he did earlier. "How's Wendy," I asked.

"Don't know, she wasn't in the infirmary when I woke up. Now that you mention it, neither was Carla or Porlyusica,"

"That's weird,"

"Yeah," Just then, four guys in red coats and metal masks came rushing down the hallway. Draped over their shoulders were the unconsciously bodies of Porlyusica, Carla, and Wendy.

"Hey!"

The men in red screeched in terror and started running away. I stood up to run after them, but Natsu stopped me.

"I'll go after them, you have a fight to get to." He said, giving me his signature smile. I nodded and wished him luck, with that he took off down the hall after the kidnappers. I started running in the direction of the entrance into the arena. In less than a minute, I was at the gate.

I stood just inside of the tunnel so no one could see me. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves.

This is for Fairy Tail

With another deep breath I stepped into the arena. The crowd was incredibly loud from the ground floor. I could hear thousands of voices cheering and screaming for Bacchus and I. My eyes wandered around the stadium crowd taking in the sight. My eyes finally rested on the Fairy Tail section. There I saw my friends and family cheering as loud as they possibly could. Kali was standing on the very edge next to Lily and Happy, cheering louder than anyone. I smiled and waved at my friends one last time before coming face to face with Bacchus.

He was cockily lying on the ground and grinning at me like a hyena. I put my game face on and got serious. This guy was not going to make a fool out of me. His blood red eyes seemed to stare right through me.

"So," Bacchus sneered. "you're the girl that no one seems to know anything about eh?" His voice was cold like a snake.

"If you want to put it that way, yes," I answered nonchalantly.

"Tell me something," Bacchus stood up, he was at least two feet taller than me. "are you really from the future or something,"

"wouldn't you like to know," I gave him a smug grin and folded my arms across my chest.

"Oh but I would," Bacchus leaned down to my level. "so why don't we make ourselves a little bet like the guys before us. I win, and you tell me the truth,"

"What if I win,"

"Entirely up to you,"

I thought for a moment as to what I should make him bet. It had to be good, preferably something embarrassing.

"You have to rename your guild to quattro puppy," I grinned. Bacchus was taken back by this, he laughed like a hyena.

"Darlin' you got yourself a deal," He cackled. He looked me square in the eye, brown meeting red.

Just then, the gong rang and the match began. Bacchus swung his palm into my abdomen, knocking me back a few feet. I slid across the dirt floor of the arena and looked up just in time to see him leap into the air. I rolled out of the way, avoiding a kick in the face from my opponent. Bacchus was a mere 4 feet away from me, but before he could attack I made my move.

"Solar claws!" I leaped into the air as the light formed around my fingers making talons. I sliced at Bacchus who merely avoided each and every swipe. He ducked and jumped, everything to avoid getting hit by my claws of light.

The fight went on, attack after attack for another 15 minutes. Bacchus overpowered me in everything and I was getting my ass handed to me. I was exhausted and out of breath, my body ached from the places Bacchus had hit me. So far I had only used my basic attacks that involved hand to hand combat to no effect.

I felt Bacchus elbow me in the back, knocking me to the ground.  He was surprisingly strong, stronger than I had anticipated.

My chest heaved, my lungs reaching for any air I could get. My body was covered in bruises already forming. My head was throbbing and my vision was blurry.

My thoughts were a mess as I tried to figure out some kind of strategy. Anything!

I realized then that all of his attacks thus far had been physical, he was sticking to martial arts mixed with a magic to increase his attack power. If all of his attacks were physical, then I just needed to keep him at a distance.

I turned around just in time to see his palm come slicing at me.

"Sun Dragon Roar!"

A tornado of sunlight erupted from my mouth, knocking Bacchus back several feet. The golden flames spiraled and danced with beauty. It engulfed Bacchus in yellow sunlight to where I could barely see him anymore. When the yellow flames cleared, Bacchus was in a state of shock along with the rest of the crowd.

"Holy Mama!" The announcer shouted. "Fairy Tail seems to have yet another dragon slayer within their ranks people! That makes a total of five dragon slayers in one guild!" Chapati declared proudly.

"Cool!" Jason screeched.

"I wonder where they've been hiding this one," Mr. Yajima added.

I looked all around the arena as the crowd cheered wildly. "Fairy Tail is full of surprises," I muttered. My attention was drawn back to the battle at the sound of Bacchus cackling like a hyena.

"So yer a dragon slayer," he had a psychotic grin on his face that gave me chills. "I guess I better get serious," Bacchus winced as he reached down to pick up his bottle of wine. That was when I noticed the red hot sunburn that seemed to surround all of his visible skin.

I knew that the wine would dull his sense of pain, so I had to do something. I concentrated hard on the hand now holding the bottle.

"Sun dragon roar," I chanted. This time instead of a full on roar, the sunlight that cam from my mouth was small, but still reached far enough. The tornado of sunlight made contact with Bacchus' hand making him shout in pain. The man dropped the bottle and it shattered on the ground. While I had him caught off guard, I took this time to enact one of the best spells I know.

"Fire Wall!" With the wave of my arm and the flick of my wrist, I enacted the spell. Four walls of yellow and orange fire surrounded my opponent in a cage that continued to grow smaller.

"What," Bacchus shot.

I calmly walked into the cage I had formed around Bacchus, unaffected by the fire and light. Bacchus seemed to be freaking out about the walls getting closer and closer. He slammed his palms into the walls of fire only to be burned.

"I hope you're not claustrophobic," I taunted. Bacchus turned his attention to me as I approached him.

"This is one of my best tactical spells," I explained. "The walls are just gonna get closer and closer Bacchus." I glared devilishly. Bacchus snarled and lunged at me.

His attack stance was now sloppy and wide open. I dodged it with ease and sent a sun dragon iron fist into his side. Even though my body hurt all over, I proceeded to attack the cocky bastard with everything I had.

After several sun dragon iron fists, solar claws, wing attacks, and roars Bacchus seemed to be running on his last fuse. The fire walls were a mere three feet around us now. I smirked evilly, this would finish him off.

"It's been fun Bacchus, but I think our time is almost up,"

"No," Bacchus cried. I casually stepped through the fire wall and back into the open arena. I kept walking away from the fire walls surrounding Bacchus. Once I was at a safe distance I looked back and watched my final attack. The walls got closer and closer and grew taller with every inch. The walls faded into a white and yellow light that erupted into the sky. BOOM! The blast was massive and sent random objects in the stadium flying. I shielded my eyes from the blast that rocked the earth.

When the light faded, Bacchus was on his knees in the center of the arena. His skin was bright red from the burns that had ravaged him. The man was practically steaming from the heat. I made my way to the center of the arena and looked at Bacchus thinking I had gone too far.

"wild," Bacchus whispered. With that final word and a grin on his face, Bacchus collapsed to the ground unconscious.
