Chapter 4

Nobody's P.O.V

"Are you sure you want to send them all off?" Carla asked. "Aren't you going to be lonely?"

Wendy chuckled softly. "Of course not. How could I possibly be lonely with you here with me?"

A smile made its way to Carla's lips.

"What about you?" Wendy asked.

"Nonsense!" the white exceed declared. "In fact, I'll be quite glad once those noisy slayers *cough* *cough* Natsu and Gray, finally leave. The palace maids have been in a disarray trying to stop them from fighting in the castle halls. Why, just yesterday they nearly knocked over a precious vase worth thousands!" she declared, huffing. "An don't even get me started on when Sting pulled Rouge along and challenged Natsu and Gajeel to a duel," she muttered. "Gray kept provoking Natsu and Gajeel in the middle of the battle, and their antics nearly set Cobra and Laxus on fire."

Wendy giggled. "That's true. The castle will sure be quiet with them gone."

Carla let out a breath, relieved that Wendy wasn't feeling too down.

A few weeks ago, when Fiore's King told Wendy, Hisui, Carla, Arcadios, and Darton that he would be dividing the rest of Ishgar into five kingdoms and sending citizens of Fiore to take over, they were all in shock.

He had said that he wanted the people he sent over to be guild members due to their ability to improvise, adapt to the situation, and their teamwork skills (and maybe because he was a bit bias towards wizards).

When he asked for recommendations, naturally Wendy and Carla spoke of her fiends from Fairy Tail, Lamia Scale, Blue Pegasus, Mermaid Heel, Sabertooth, and Quatro Cerberus.

Princess Hisui, Arcadios, and Darton readily agreed, recalling the integrity they showed during the Grand Magic Games and their help during the Eclipse incident. The King agreed and quickly made preparations.

Now, only a day remained until the guilds would gather at the castle. Wendy had decided that the slayers and their companions would be joining them when they ventured to the newly formed kingdoms.

"True, the castle would never be at peace if they stayed, but are you sure it was wise to send them off with no recollection of their friends who they'll be accompanying."

Wendy sighed. "To be honest, i'm not completely sure if my decision is the right one," she admitted. "But the others have no memories of them either, so all they will see each other as is strangers. But maybe, if they spend enough time around each other, they'll start to remember," Wendy said, trying her best to sound enthusiastic and hopeful.

Her voice cracked, and she collapsed onto her bed, covering her eyes with her arm. Her exceed companion laid next to her.

"Oh, Carla, who am I kidding," Wendy muttered miserably. "No matter how much I try to reason with myself that it's so they'll get better, I know I'm just being selfish. In truth, I just don't want them to know... that i'm losing my memories as well."
