Why am I stuck looking in the boring library with only girls! It's been a couple of hours and still nothing! I took a break and sat down, only to be hit on the head by a really heavy book, like it's made out of bricks. I pick it up and read the title. 'Dragons and Dragonslayers' (A/N: I know it's a rubbish name, but I couldn't have thought of anything better)

"Hey I found something" I yell, getting everyone's attention. They all come towards me and I show them the book. We gather around a table and open up the book.

Hello, if you are reading this then something is wrong with the dragon slayers. This book tells you about both dragons and dragon slayers. I hope you are not too late, for this is a serious matter and could end up endangering the world.

Long ago when dragons still roamed the land, there was a time that change both dragon and slayers alike. It has a different affect on them but still the same cause. This cause is called dragon season also known as dragon mating or mating season. Dragon season last for a month and two weeks. It happens every year.

For dragons, they get angry and aggressive easier if they are mateless. Those that do have mates stay the same. Usually, it's the males that get aggressive and start fights with other dragons that have mates. While the females test the males if they are worthy of being their mates. They only fight each other if they like the same male dragon that is mateless. This is usually really rare. The mated females are left alone and concentrate on reproduction.

For dragon slayers this is different. The mating season only affects them after they reach the age of 18. Unlike dragons both male and female dragonslayer change from their usual attitude and personality to being aggressive. Their eyes would turn red with black slits like dragon eyes. Some might change their appearance to attract their mates. They don't fight over for their mates but they do become aggressive if anything happens to their mates. Once mated, they only become protective and aggressive towards their mates. If their mates reject them, unlike dragons, they will die. They would fight each other to show who's dominate and should be their leader.

To know who their mates are usually someone they are always around or have a connection with. Their mates would have a mark of something that represents the slayer. For example, an ice dragon slayer's mate would have a snowflake or icicle. This all depends on the type of dragonslayer and the gender of both slayer and mate.

Many have tried to use dragon slayers to their own advantage by holding their mates hostage, only gain power and control over the dragon slayers. This has happened many times. They want to erase the dragon slayers memories and control them like that. Since dragon slayers that have no memories are meant to be easier to control, but this only lead to the dragon slayers to turn into dragons and have no control over them. No one can control them not even their mates. The only way to stop them was to kill. That was a problem as their so far no magic except dragon slayer magic to kill them. The mates however can kill them by rejecting the dragon slayers, but this could only happen during dragon season.

Whoa, this explains a lot about the Natsu and the others behaviour. I wonder who Wendy's mate is... N-not t-that I care or anything. I just figured it could be me since we spend a lot of time together after that mission that lead us to become 18 like Natsu. She is beautiful, wait now is not the time to be thinking of this. Geez, what is wrong with me.
