Chapter 12
"Why?" Natsu whined as he layed on the seat across from me in the carriage.
"Because the carriage was going to be faster than hiking up there." I told him as I crossed my legs and took a look at my map, we were already at the base of the mountain, but at some point we were going to have to get out and walk the rest.
"So Lucy, why didn't you get your Guild Mark?" Happy asked me, looking at me with his eyes squinting a little bit at me.
"Oh, I completely forgot." I said hoping they couldn't tell I was lying. Although with the state Natsu was in, I don't think he could notice anything at the moment. The carriage jolted forward, for a second before we finally stopped.
"I'm sorry, but this is as far as I can take you." The driver said, and I opened the door. The wind was blowing hard in every which way throwing snow everywhere. I placed my hand on the top of my head to make sure my hood didn't go anywhere. My body temperature dropped a couple of degrees, but because I was an Elf it wouldn't affect me much.
Am I glad I took the map sellers advice to read up on Elves. The only actually useful information I could find out about Elves, besides my selling price, is that we are the species that are most connected to gods. I found out that Elves have the largest magic energy source out of any other species in the game. No matter how hard any other species trained, it wouldn't be able to match an Elf's. Though to make sure we weren't overpowered, our magics can take up a lot of energy. Much like Dragon Slayers and their motion sickness, guess it was to attempt to balance us out.
I looked back in the carriage as Natsu was still coming out of being dizzy. I stepped out of the cart and onto the snow with my bare feet.
"If you would like I can wait at the bottom of the mountain to take you back into town." The driver said as he got the carriage turned around, before it got buried in the snow.
"That would be great thank you." I told him and dragged Natsu out of the carriage. "We should be back soon." And with that he traveled back down the path.
"What the hell kind of job would bring Macao out here?" I yelled into the wind to Natsu.
"He came up here to fight a Vulcan, it's a big monkey looking monster." Natsu said. After a couple of minutes of hiking through the snow Natsu started yelling. "Macao! Where the hell are you!" Clumps of snow fell in between me and Natsu and I stopped, after a couple of steps Natsu did to and turned to me. "What is it?" I looked up just in time to see what I could only imagine was a Vulcan jumping down on us. I jumped out of the way and landed on my stomach.
"That's a big Vulcan!" Happy said and I could tell he was panicking a bit. I grabbed my hood and rolled onto my side where I looked and saw it was staring at me. The wind was blowing straight into my face, and along with snow it carried a word straight to my ears.
"Elf." It said and my eyes widened. I quickly grabbed my keys as it ran at me.
"Open Gate of the Clock Constellation: Horologium!" I said quickly, in a panic. And before the Vulcan could reach me, I was placed inside my spirit's case. Horologium is the constellation of time and was therefore an old pendulum clock. He's one of my silver keys, he and the rest of the silver keys in the game are AI. The Vulcan slammed its hands on the glass.
"Me like woman." It said and every word put fog on the glass.
"So, you can talk huh?" I heard Natsu say, but it was already too late. The Vulcan picked Horologium up and started carrying the both of us off into the storm. When I looked out the glass Natsu was just standing there.
"Don't just stand there!" I yelled at Natsu, but because I was secured inside the clock, he wasn't going to be able to hear me, so Horologium had to repeat what I said.
After a couple of minutes, we entered a cave, and the Vulcan placed me down.
'What did I do to deserve this?'
I asked myself as the Vulcan danced around excited that he had me in what I could only guess was his home.
"Umm, miss Lucy." Horologium said pulling me out of my annoyed trance. "I'm afraid my time is up." He said and I took a look near my magic energy level, and as that was half gone, there was another bar that would display whichever of my spirit's I summoned. And I watched as Horologium's magic ticked away, and when it was gone, I got plopped down on my butt on the icy cave floor after he disappeared.
"Woman! Woman!" The Vulcan started chanting.
"Oh boy." I said to myself.
"Hey you giant ape!" I heard from somewhere in the cave. Both me and the Vulcan looked towards the shout. "Tell me where Macao is!" It was Natsu, running towards us. Until he slipped and went full force into the wall.
'You have got to be kidding me!'
I ran over to him and helped him up.
"Tell me where he is!" Natsu said again, and the Vulcan looked confused. "He's a man! A human man!" And I guess it finally understood what he was saying because he started pointing to a different end of the cave. Natsu ran over to an opening in the cave and looked out it. "Macao!" Natsu shouted, right before he got kicked out the window like hole and fell down the side of the mountain.
"Natsu!"
