¤4th Day¤

~No one's P.O.V.~

The bright big orb known as the sun peaked through the horizon. To some, its sunlight was a good way to wake up.

But to the patients at Fairy Institute...well, that's a different story.

THIS PLACE. NEEDS WINDOWS, Sting thought with a tick mark as he stared at the white-tiled ceiling. He had woken up by himself, but was saddened when he realized that there were absolutely no windows, no screens, no place for real light, only for artificial. No wonder hospitals are depressing, Sting thought in his head. Ah, but then again... Sure Sting wasn't the best person or role model, but when realization upon the reasoning behind the no windows or access to the outside hit him, he didn't question it. "Still, it's not like I'd ever do it.." he mumbled to himself.

"Yeah Sting-kun! You have us!" The girl with hazel eyes and sand hair from his first day came back. Sometimes his hallucinations would loop, but to him, he thought of it as "the girls coming back".

"We'll never leave Sting-sama!!" another brunette nodded vigorously.

"Yup, who needs to leave this world when I have everything I want?" Sting smirked, although a tiny part of his heart cringed with his self-told lies. Unfortunately, it was too small for Sting to take notice, as it had shrunk with every passing day, the arrogant schizophrenic slowly enduring the pain. The two fangirls squealed just as a nurse came in. all "3" people turned their head to the door. The girls faces darkened with jealous and Sting's blue eyes widened before he avoided his gaze from Nurse Mirajane.

"Hello Sting," the nurse smiled brightly.

"...Hi," Sting coughed, awkwardness surrounding him as he remembered his first impression to her.

"Ah, don't worry, there are no hard feelings," Nurse Mirajane waved off, as if she had read his mind.

"Oh, well in that case.." Sting smirked. The white-haired girl chuckled and shook her head no in an innocent yet somehow menacing way. Sting got the message and gulped. "A-ah, nevermind," he said, backing off. The girls don't like it when I flirt anyways, he mentally thought, glancing over to the girls to see them gritting their teeth in envy.

"Anyways, I'm here to make sure you take your pills." She smiled and held out the same small cup of pills as yesterday, forcefully putting it onto the palms of Sting's hands.

"You know, I don't really need these," Sting put on the most innocent smile he could form and tried to give it back. The nurse shook her head again and pushed it back to him.

"I'm afraid you'll have to take these," she grinned. "They are to help you get better!"

"But there's nothing wrong with me!" he pouted. The nurse sighed, knowing talking wasn't going to do the trick. So, she gave off one of her famous dark glares.

"I suggest you eat those pills, before I have to take drastic measures," she warned, her innocent smile adding even more darkness with her now evil-tinted eyes. Sting froze and immediately popped the pills into his mouth and took big gulps of water.

"No Sting-sama!" the girls cried, but Sting knew they were gone when he felt two objects plop into the bottom of his empty stomach.

"See? Don't you feel better now?" The nurse went back to her nice self. Truthfully, as annoying as they were, it was better than the painful reality of loneliness to Sting. If he went too long without the "girls" showing up, the "voices" would start to seep into his head, which would then make him unstable. He himself could vaguely remember the last time that happened, and when he was sane again, he found himself with tons of bruises and scratches all over him. His father refused to tell him what had happened once again, but he could vaguely recall screaming, ringing, and the bitter feeling of emptiness and not being able to know what's real and not. Sting gulped.

He didn't want to feel like that again, ever, so he just silently nodded, muttering a soft, "Yeah." Nurse Mirajane frowned, noticing the sudden paleness in his face.

"Is everything all right?" she asked worriedly, not wanting another nosebleed to clean up. Sting snapped out of his thoughts and nodded again, putting on the best smirk he could make at that moment.

"Of course!" he said as if it was obvious. "What? Think I can't down a couple pills?" The nurse mentally sighed in relief and smiled.

"Well, if that is all, I will be taking my leave. Since it's around 8:00, breakfast should be starting soon so you should hurry!" Nurse Mirajane suggested before walking out of his room.

...I think it'd be best if I steer clear of that chick nurse, Sting thought to himself as a shiver went down his spine, remembering that bone-chilling glare. Once he recovered, a sigh escaped from his lips and he forced himself to get up and get to the cafeteria, even though he had completely lost his appetite. He looked down to the ground, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he walked down the hallway. Coincidentally, a certain anthropophobic was walking down the opposite direction as well.

That dream...no, that nightmare of Jellal... Erza thought in her mind. I wonder if I'll ever be able to see him again.. She looked up to the ceiling and pondered the thought. The two accidentally bumped into each other, since neither were looking at where they were going. At first Sting brightened up at the sight of a hot chick, but then he realized that it was that red-head he had mistaken yesterday.

"Oh uh, sorry," Sting apologized. Unfortunately for Sting, Erza had been thinking about the pain she had gotten from him.

"KYAAAAAA!!!" Erza screamed in pure terror at the sight of him before bolting down the hallway, away from the spiky blond.

"...Uh..." Sting sweatdropped as he watched the red-head run away. "What was that all about?" He looked at himself, but didn't see anything wrong with him. "Hallucination? No, wait...stupid pills," he grumbled, already feeling lonely. He felt the voices creeping its way to his mind to try to poison it, but he tried to fight back. "Perhaps she was a test for me or something?" He glanced back at the red-head, watching her become a speck in the distance. "Ha! Like that'll happen. Cuckoo~" Sting twirled his finger in a circular motion to the side of his head before laughing hysterically to himself.

¤With Erza¤

Erza took deep breaths, swallowing as much air as she could to regain her composure. It wasn't him. H-he had blond hair. Yeah, right, blond hair. She took one last breath before finally calming down. She turned the knob of the closet she had been hiding in and went back into the hallway. What was I doing? Oh right, going to the bathroom to take the pills. She looked around for the right direction to go. She then realized that she was lost. Of course she didn't want any help from people, but if she didn't come back soon, that purple-haired nurse was going to go look for her. As Erza looked around frantically for some kind of sign to lead her, a certain counselor walked down the hall and noticed her. Her eyes widened as she realized that it was that "Erza" girl, Erza Scarlet.

"Excuse me, are you lost?" she spoke to her in a gentle tone, trying not to provoke her. Erza jumped at the sound of a human's voice and shakily turned around to face a woman with purple hair and brown eyes.

"A-ah, um..." Erza stammered, not sure whether or not to trust her. Of course, her mind was screaming not to, but she didn't have any other hope.

"Don't worry, I know about your anthropophobia," the woman smiled warmly. "My name is Ultear, and you must be Erza Scarlet right?"

Erza meekly nodded. She knows my name! Why does she know my name?! her mind yelled accusingly.

While Erza fought a war with her mind, Ultear debated on whether or not to tell her about Jellal and his...condition. While it was true that he himself knew, she didn't think it'd be such a great idea for someone who has a fear of people to know that the person who made her have such a condition was in the same building as her. "If you're looking for the bathroom, it's down the hall and then turn left a couple feet," Ultear finally decided and pointed to the direction behind her. I can't risk her going unstable, she thought to herself. Better wait until Jellal's stable enough to be released into the normal rooms...

Erza mentally sighed with relief and said a tiny "thank you" before quickly shuffling away. Ultear watched her go before continuing her walk towards the third floor.

¤With Jellal¤

Ultear gently knocked on the door before hearing a soft, "Come in." A small smile/frown crept onto her lips as she knew he was making progress.

"Ready for today's session?" Ultear asked gently as she opened the door. The straitjacket was still wrapped around Jellal's body, but he looked more sane than he did two days ago. To answer her question, the blue-haired schizophrenic meekly shrugged. Last session hadn't left his head for one second, and he didn't know what to expect today.

"So, have you had any progress with your answer to my question?" she decided to start with that. This time Jellal shook his head. His mind had been focused on one thing.

"How's Erza?" he asked quietly. Ultear mentally flinched, but she had seen it coming.

"Ah...she's doing okay.." Ultear replied slowly, making sure every word she said didn't do something to make him crack. For someone with a fear of people, she's actually not doing so bad, however, if she knows that Jellal is in the same building as her...

"How so?" Jellal urged, anxious to know the actual details. "I mean, is she at least interacting with some people? How is her physical health?"

This is quite a dillema... Ultear bit her lip. On one hand it was good that he was getting better, but she didn't know yet what the consequences having him and Erza meet would be. The worst case scenario would be that the both of them would never have a chance of recovering from their illnesses ever again, but yet there was a chance that making up would ultimately lead to their recovery.

"...The answers for those questions are not something I can give." For now, Ultear didn't want to take the chances, so she used her patient confidentiality rule. She knew that it was a bad idea to end the session now, but all she wanted to do today was to make sure her patient was making progress. The counselor skimmed through her notes and stood up. Jellal's eyes widened and he grabbed onto the counselor's arm.

"No, wait!" he said quickly. "Please..please tell me..." Jellal looked down and tried his hardest to not let any tears escape from his already glassy eyes. "I don't want the nightmares to haunt me for another night..." Ultear looked at the begging boy with pitiful eyes. She really did want to help him, but doing anything risky for now was out of the question.

"Look," she began, "If you prove yourself to be....stable enough to be put near other people, they will allow you to move down a floor, which is where Erza and the other 14-18 year olds reside. If you can do so, you'll have a chance to ask those questions yourself."

"R-...really?" Jellal said, his eyes growing wide. His mind wandered to what she would look like at the age of 18.

"Yes, however it's not my decision whether or not you'd be able to, so be sure to take your pills okay?" Ultear said. Jellal nodded and watched the purple-haired woman leave his isolated room.

"Erza.." Jellal mumbled.

"What do you need her for? Have you forgotten? There's no point in seeing her." Jellal jumped at the sound of that sinister yet familiar voice. Jellal could feel his mind start to warp, but he tried to hang onto the small sliver of reality he still had after all of this.

"E-even though there is no freedom in this world, E-Erza.." Jellal stammered. "Erza is still alive in this world, and Ultear too..she had a free will to come and help me..."

"Why should you trust her words instead of the great Black Wizard's?" The voice hissed.

"That's....true..." Jellal mumbled, slowly succumbing to the voice's hypnotic voice.

"Don't forget that I'm the one who showed you the truth about freedom in this world. If you forget who you're loyal to, look down at yourself and think about it. Just know it's either me or that girl." Those were the last words the "God" had said before disappearing. Jellal groaned in pain, a headache ringing through his entire head, but yet he was able to look down at himself to see himself strapped in the same beige straitjacket he had been in for the entirety he had been here in this isolated room. He darkly chuckled and rested his head on the wall. "Right, Ultear wouldn't even face me without this on me," he muttered to himself. "There...is no..freedom in this world.." He drifted to sleep telling himself that, but a faded image of a certain red-headed girl was still imprinted in his mind as he lost consciousness.

¤Timeskip-After Dinner¤

Erza wandered the halls of the Fairy Institute. Her pills had started working a couple hours after she had taken them, but she waited until 9:00 in the evening before deciding to roam the place she that be staying for quite a while. Although the halls were empty and had an eerie silence to them, she thought it was better than the meeting she had had with that brunette lady. "Eh? Erza?" Said girl jumped and slowly turned around at the sound of her name. When she saw it was just Levy, she sighed.

Seriously, again? she thought to herself, but instead, she asked, "What are you doing here?"

"O-oh, uh, I was just wandering around.." Levy said. It wasn't a total lie, but she didn't tell her about the fact that she had been looking for a place to hide her dinner. After all the meals she had had the past 4 days, she thought she had deserved at least 1 day off. "A-anyways, I was going to ask you the same thing!"

"..I have the same answer as you," Erza said after a slight pause. "Just wandering around."

"Ah," Levy said, rubbing her arm. There was another long pause before Levy finally said, "So I'll, um, be going now.."

"Ok," Erza said bluntly.

"See you around?" Levy offered a small smile. Erza thinly smiled back and nodded before they both went in their opposite directions.

Erza went on with her exploring, but she was stopped by a sign. A sign that said "Third Floor - Special Containment Patients". 'Th-there are other people here?! People who are less stable?!?' Erza shuddered at the thought of having a mad man living just one floor up, but couldn't help but feel just a bit curious. I wonder, are there people who should actually be up there? Or...people who are just misunderstood? Although she didn't want to, her mind wandered to that blue-haired boy that used to be so nice, so kind to her, but then all of a sudden went berserk and tried to kill her. Maybe....he's up there? She peered into the darkened stairways, before deciding it was best just to go to bed. There's no way he could be here of all places he could have gone. That's just crazy. Erza shuffled her way back to her cake-decorated door. After turning the knob, she entered her room and fell onto the bed. She tilted her head towards the night desk next to her bed, eyeing the small and sharp piece of silver that she used to escape the pain. Maybe....no, not tonight. She buried her face into her small pillow and tried to get some sleep before she had to face all of this once again.
