Guess who's back!? Me, Arwen, the author who says she's back and then goes missing for months ahah
Now I'm actually back! Promise! I mean it! I'm in a very good writing mood every day and comments makes me write more and faster, so please leave as many as you want here. It has been a while since I've written on this one so I don't really remember where I was going and I have forgotten a few things- Also I keep changing the tense I write in, but I will be sticking with this one.
Before we head into the story, we are currently in a wild time. 2020 is a year of... many things and we all know about the "Black Lives Matter" movement. I hope all of you try to do your best to support this, by either signing petitions and even donating if you have the recourses to do that. You don't have to donate if that is a hard thing to do, I'll drop a link to a Carrd full of stuff you can do to help on my profile(Wattpad won't let me put links her:( ).
Anyways, let's get into it!!
The rest month goes by so quickly and May turns into June and Chenle watches with stressed eyes as the dates near June 7th, which is the exam period. Chenle groans and knocks his head against his wall as he stares at his puppy calendar. Not even the cute Golden Retrievers can brighten his mood as he stares at the big red circle around the 7th.
It's the 6th.
"I'm so screwed," Chenle mumbles to the ghosts, he hopes they can give him comfort as he wants to rip his hair out. He has not studied. Like at all as he kept getting disturbed by Jisung entering his mind every now and then, he shouldn't feel this whipped for a boy he has barely talked to.
And he really can't keep thinking about Jisung when he doesn't even understand the basics with calculus. Math was not his strongest subject and that was clear.
Alas, Chenle is a simple boy and simple boys fall for the pretty boy from a class under him, and now he's whipped. The Chinese fairy sighs and stumbles over piles of clothes to his desk to try and cram some math equations into his brain. Maybe he can get Renjun to do some hokus-pokus on his brain so his memory turns better. Chenle shakes his head at that, Renjun would probably throw him back to China if he asks for that type of request.
Opening the math book he stares blankly at the numbers. His head is empty, no thoughts- well there's Jisung- and he tries to think. When he tries though, his brain immediately goes back to the time when he first met Jisung. It wasn't a pretty encounter either, it was that cliche one to be specific.
Chenle had just begun his second year, which was last August, and he was casually making his way to his classroom to greet his new homeroom teacher and see how many annoying people his class would have for this year. Chenle never actually made it in time to his first-class as he was sent to the nurse office ten minutes into his day.
How?
Well, let me tell you the story of how he broke his pinky finger. Chenle had been speed walking since he's kinda an idiot and forgot to set his alarm so he woke up 10 minutes before class started so he had to hurry. The school didn't allow running, so therefore he sped walked for his life. Since he had been so focused on speed walking and trying to come up with an excuse as to why he was late on the first day, he hadn't seen the boy coming his way. The other boy was talking on his phone so he too was quite occupied to see what was happening in front of him.
When Chenle had snapped back into the real world, it was too late, the very narrow hallway they were in was too narrow for two people comfortably passing so the blue-haired student had knocked into him and Chenle lost his balance.
He went stumbling into the stairwell and fell. Chenle fell backwards down two flights of stairs, rolling down the steps like some type of bowling ball that could scream.
Not only did he fall, but he fell onto another student that was on a tour of the school. The other student had been used as a mattress to stop Chenle from rolling any further. Chenle who had been hit into a daze and was quite out of it had looked down onto the student he was sitting on. Jisung at that time had black hair, but that's kinda what Chenle remembered before he had blacked out.
Though he heard from some other students that had witnessed this that he had said in a very slurred voice: "WOw- I must be dead cause you're an angel"
Chenle groans and literally slams his head down on his desk, the stuff on his desk rattles and a picture frame fall off, Chenle could care less if it shattered or not, he's having a moment. His whole life is an embarrassment, why does Jisung want to hang with him.
Chenle abruptly sits up.
"Yeah... why does he want to suddenly hang out with me?" Chenle say out loud, his voice strained and feels like he has discovered a question. A question that is almost like a conspiracy theory that no one, but a guy that's a master at deduction could figure out.
On the bed, his phone beeps and Chenle looks at it with an unimpressed expression as he watches the screen light up and turn off. It's probably just Jeno wanting to be annoying and talk about some squirrel he saw, or talk about how ugly Jaemin is after their bicycle date.
Chenle saw the photos and Jaemin looked like he was on the brink of passing out, the way he was using the bicycle as support as he panted for his life. And Chenle thought he was the one in their friend group with the worst stamina.
The phone continued to light up a couple of more times before Chenle reluctantly gets up with a sigh and trudges over to it. He grabs the thing and turns it on, ready to start muting Jeno when he sees that the ten messages aren't from the latter, but from Renjun.
Renjun never messages him, the older fairy always breaks into his dorm room to tell him stuff in real life. So actually seeing messages surprised Chenle and he unlocked his phone.
Chinese Bro:
Not to freak you out
But like
could you come to the park for a second
Jisung is stuck in a tree
Please don't ask questions and come
why you? Well because someone has to climb up and it's
not me as Jisung literally kicked me in the face so duck him
Chenle
OMG JISUNG FELL DOWN
CHENLE JISUNG BE DEAD
OH NO
oh wait he lives
but his foot looks... MESSED UP
Rip
Anyways, can you help me carry him?
Me:
Renjun...
What the good lord
Is it the park by campus or ?
Chinese bro:
No not campus
the park you crashed your bike into a tree
Chenle cringes at the memory of him biking peacefully, then finding out someone messed with hie brakes so he has no time to prepare himself to dodge the tree that comes in his way, and he promptly drove right into it and flew off. He surprisingly didn't break anything, and he did wear his helmet.
It then hits him like a truck that Jisung hurt himself and he keeps the question as to why Renjun is hanging out of said boy to his mind. Chenle never knew the two are friends. Anyways, Chenle throws his phone on the bed, snatches his jacket off his door and dashes out.
He can run fast when he wants to. In kindergarten, he used to be the Flash. Nowadays he's Chenle- but that's beside the point. The point is, Chenle runs like the wind, he really wants to get to Jisung as fast as possible. The younger might be in very much pain if his leg is broken, by Renjun's description of "messed up foot" it sounded broken.

Chenle is panting hard when he arrives at the park. Lungs are on fire and his thighs are screaming after he pushed them to their limit. Before him, Jisung stands in all his glory, not a single scratch on his body not does he look like someone with a messed up foot. Chenle feels a bit scammed, as he ran here as fast as possible only for it to not really be needed.
"Are-" Chenle cuts of Jisung by holding up one finger, as to say "pls give me a sec" as he catches his breath.
A few more awkward seconds of Chenle breathing hard and Jisung standing there, looking around in concern as he has no idea what to do.
"You're okay?" Chenle spits out when he finally gains full control over his air intake and lungs.
Jisung looks confused, "Yes? I am okay, should I not be?" He asks, staring with furrowed brows and Chenle feels a blush rise to his cheeks.
"Uhm-" Chenle feels his words stop, he doesn't know what to exactly say, and his gaze dart around the place in search of his traitorous friend, "Is Renjun here?"
Jisung looks even more confused, "No, should he be here?"
It clicks in his brain. Renjun never was here with Jisung, he probably was in the area and saw him and then sent Chenle to go to him. By the looks of the volleyball in Jisung's grasp, the younger must have been practising for their upcoming game. Chenle makes up in his mind that he's going to take advantage of this evening to hang out with Jisung, without making a fool out of himself.
He smiles and shakes his head, "Nope! Just a question," He says and the looks at the volleyball, "Are you practising?"
"Oh- yeah I am haha the game versus Light Snow is around the corner and I want to be on my best."
Chenle hums, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet, "I can help you?"
Jisung looks at him pleasantly surprised, big eyes stare at Chenle and his head is slightly tilted, "You will?"
Heat rises again and Chenle feels himself needing to look away, "Yeah.. I'm not that good or anything, but I'll gladly-" Chenle is interrupted as Jisung grabs his hands and beams at him.
"Nonono- You don't have to be good to help me with receives and spikes!" Jisung is practically vibrating at this point, "Just throw the ball up and I've seen how you serve the ball and you do have a powerful hit so I'm sure you'll be a great help!"
Chenle is fully blushing by now. The complement Jisung had given him with his very amateur serves sends butterflies to his stomach. What he likes with Jisung is his personality, he can be both shy and quiet, but he is also an excited puppy at times that is fuø of sunshine and energy.
"I'll try my best!" Chenle manages to say after gazing into the soft brown eyes of Jisung for a few seconds. The younger let's go off Chenle's hands and he misses the warmth already.
"Thank you Chenle." Jisung smiles and gets ready, he passes the ball over to Chenle, "Start whenever you're ready. Try to catch me off guard."
Chenle gulps, suddenly feeling rather self-conscious of his every move and the need to do good so Jisung can have some practice. With a slight deep breath, Chenle throws the ball up in the air and as he falls to the ground, he uses his palm to smack it across the sand court they're standing on.
The white and yellow ball soars through the air at a speed Chenle never knew he could make a ball do. Jisung is ready and he easily stops the ball from passing him and going out off court, he gets the ball up in the air and runs after it. Again the ball as coming at good speed towards the ground, but Jisung got the speed and technique ready.
Jisung jumps up, hand ready to smack the ball and his palm makes contact with the ball. At a godly speed and a loud smack, the ball goes towards Chenle, and the boy barely has a chance to jump out of the way so the ball doesn't hit him again.
They're silent both of them as the ball rolls past Chenle, and Jisung looks shocked for a second and then his expression shift into one of pure horror.
"Holy hell! I'm so sorry Chenle!" Jisung apologies, "I didn't mean for that to go back at you with that speed-"
Chenle starts laughing, "Don't worry your little head," He says with a light giggle, "You needed the practice and I said yes, just hit the ball as hard as you want. I might not catch it, but I'll send it your way every time you spike it. Just try to not aim for my face."
Jisung looks at him with a slight surprise, before he breaks out into a smile again, "Okay! Give me a powerful one!"
"You got it!" Chenle yells as he runs for the ball, he feels this fuzzy warmth bloom in his stomach and it feels comforting. His cheeks are warm and he can't help but smile, this is the first time he gets to hang out with Jisung in a nice way and he actually might not make a fool out of himself.
Maybe he'll get to know more about Jisung tonight.
The math exam he has tomorrow is completely forgotten and Chenle thrives for a good time with Jisung under the moonlight, playing volleyball.
____________
Hope you all enjoyed that!
And if you are wondering why I poofed- then to simply put it, I've been dealing with a of mental stress with certain things that has been putting me off writing and making me just... unmotivated to do anything really
Also, I've been watching a lot of anime haha and I have watched Haikyuu, but Jisung playing volleyball was pure coincidence
And I've somewhat moved platforms, I'm starting to be very active on AO3 so yep
-Arwen out, have a nice evening/morning/afternoon/night, baibai
