After telling Ricky that he couldn't drive at all and would most likely bike to the mall, Gyuvin found himself in the passenger seat of the former's (rather expensive) car. A simple glance at Ricky's outfit had Gyuvin feeling underdressed, with him wearing a pale green hoodie and jeans, while the older wore a striped button up tucked into skinny jeans. Even though Ricky had told him it was fine, and that they weren't doing anything fancy, Gyuvin still felt unsure about it.
Gyuvin paid for their tickets to see Scream 6 with confidence, however, it was immediately shattered by Ricky paying for their snacks with his black card. "You, ah... hah," he stumbled over his words, causing the blonde to laugh.
"Don't worry about it," Ricky reassured with a squeeze to Gyuvin's shoulder.
Despite hanging out on multiple occasions, the two would normally keep physical contact to a minimum. It wasn't that they weren't close, but Ricky seemed to be the type to be hesitant to touch other people, so Gyuvin didn't push it. The fact that Ricky was the one to have initiated contact first made the younger feel strange. It wasn't bad, but it was different; perhaps it being a date had changed how Ricky perceived Gyuvin, but how would he know?
The movie started and Gyuvin came to feel unsure once again. In his opinion, the Scream movies weren't necessarily scary, but he still felt bad about quite literally forcing Ricky to watch a horror movie to begin with. A glance at the blonde told Gyuvin that he was okay, however, none of the action had happened yet, so it might not be long until something pops out and scares Ricky right out of his pants. (Was it weird that Gyuvin kind of wanted to see Ricky scared just so he could hold his hand? It was a date after all...)
Eventually, the killer shows up in the movie in a rather predictable fashion in Gyuvin's opinion. From the corner of his eye, he notices Ricky almost jumping out of his seat at the sight, and Gyuvin has to exercise some restraint to avoid laughing. Instead, he reaches out and grabs Ricky's hand, intertwining their fingers and resting both their hands on his thigh. Gyuvin had expected the older to rip his hand away, and although shocked, he didn't budge; he instead clung harder onto Gyuvin's hand whenever he felt scared.
Gyuvin doesn't know when it happened, but the armrest between the two had been lifted and Ricky was pressed against his side. He could feel the blonde trembling, so naturally, Gyuvin let go of Ricky's hand in favour of wrapping an arm around him, rubbing his thumb on his shoulder for reassurance. Any snacks the two had were long forgotten, and it was just Gyuvin, Ricky, and the movie at that point.
"How was it?" Gyuvin asked, taking the last few sips of his drink as the two walked out of the theatre once the movie had ended.
Ricky frowned, lightly slapping Gyuvin's arm. "Next time I'm picking the movie," he declared, crossing his arms.
Gyuvin chuckled, tossing the empty cup he was holding into one of the trash cans they passed by. "It wasn't that bad, come on."
"I cut off the circulation in your hand, idiot. It was that bad," Ricky argued, taking a deep breath as they stepped out of the mall.
Eyes wandering to the bicycle rental next to the parking lot, Gyuvin suddenly had an idea, a cheeky smile on his face as he leaned in closer to Ricky. "You wanna rent bikes? We can go to the convenience store or some shit."
"We have a car," replied Ricky flatly, rather unimpressed with the younger's idea.
"But that's no fun!" Gyuvin complained, taking hold of Ricky's hand without much thought as he started to drag the blonde towards the bike rack. "Do you not know how to ride a bike or something?"
Ricky scoffed, clearly offended by the assumption. "Shut up, I know how to ride a bike. I'll show you," he said, sticking his card into the machine next to the bike rack, and paying for two of the bicycles.
"Oh, so now you wanna ride bikes with me?" teased Gyuvin with a little nudge to Ricky's arm with his elbow.
"Whatever," Ricky breathed out, getting onto one of the bikes while Gyuvin ever so kindly held it still for him. (He appreciated it, but he would never say that).
It felt somewhat freeing to be riding a bicycle in the crisp air of the night at 11 o'clock on a date with Ricky. Although it was hard to talk to each other, they managed pretty well, shouting to make sure the other person heard.
Leaving the bicycles outside, Gyuvin and Ricky were cooped up in the corner of the convenience store eating ramen. The safety of the bicycles wasn't too much of a concern to them, as barely anyone populated the streets at that hour.
"I haven't gone to a convenience store in forever, to be honest," Ricky admitted with a sheepish smile on his face, taking a sip from the strawberry milk carton he was holding.
Despite not being surprised, Gyuvin still gave Ricky a face of disappointment. "You need to learn to let loose a little, you know?" he asked, pausing to slurp his ramen up rather loudly. "I know you don't do this kind of stuff often 'cause you're rich or whatever, but isn't it nice to just do something simple?"
Ricky seemed pretty amused by Gyuvin's sentiment, but he nodded in agreement. "Who taught you to be so smart, huh?" he teased, bringing an arm up to nudge the younger.
"I'm being serious!" Gyuvin whined, shaking Ricky after placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You're right," the blonde cooed, squishing Gyuvin's cheeks with his free hand that wasn't occupied by chopsticks. "This is nice."
Gyuvin felt weird once more. He knew that Ricky would bicker with him as a joke, but the fact that he was suddenly agreeing with him and being touchy for once had Gyuvin feeling warm. He wasn't sure how exactly he got into this situation, but he was glad he did; he was seeing a side of Ricky that he never thought he'd ever see, especially not like this.
The bike ride back to the mall was just as nice if not even better than the first time, especially since Gyuvin had a proper meal in his stomach. Even though the convenience store wasn't far, he suddenly felt tired, almost dozing off in Ricky's car, which caused him to be glanced at occasionally (which he didn't notice, obviously).
Since it was late at night, Gyuvin took it upon himself to walk Ricky all the way up to his dorm, not even thinking to complain about the fact that it was on the highest floor of the building. Their hands brushed against each other, and Gyuvin wasn't sure what to do about it. One part of him wanted to hold Ricky's hand (it looked nice to hold), but the other part told him it would be weird. In the end, although dumb of him, Gyuvin decided against it.
"Well," Ricky spoke, turning to face Gyuvin as they stopped in front of a door. "This is me."
Gyuvin smiled, hands folded in front of him politely. "Um, well, I hope you had fun," he said with a bashful smile, cheeks suddenly heating up.
"Yeah," Ricky spoke. "I had a lot of fun with you." Silence took over for a moment before the blonde suddenly shifted closer to Gyuvin, bringing a hand up to cup his cheek. Ricky softly stared into the taller's eyes before leaning in, closing the gap between them.
Gyuvin found that his hands made their way onto Ricky's waist, their kiss remaining soft and gentle. His lips had a faint taste of strawberry buried underneath everything else, which Gyuvin savoured as he pulled away.
"Text me when you get back to your dorm, okay?" asked Ricky, clinging to Gyuvin's hands and giving them a gentle squeeze.
With a simple nod and a smile, Gyuvin watched as Ricky disappeared into his dorm. Slowly, yet cheerfully, he took his time walking back to his own dorm room, letting his mind remind him of his favourite parts of the day.
