Going Home

Basically the first two chapters are kind of like the introduction and stuff, but this is still the beginning so you'll see later what happens.

Drew's POV

A day after the Grand Festival has passed and there was not a single word from May. I hadn't seen her ever since she congratulated me on my win. That's strange, by now she would have at least said hi to me or something. Actually, if she had left, she wouldn't have without a farewell of some sort.

"Where could she have gone?" I mumbled to myself.

Walking through Jubilife City, I searched around to see if May was in any of the shops, restaurants or cafe's. But still no sign of her anywhere.

Maybe she did leave already. Probably caught up in her loss. Yeah that's it.

But coming to think of it, May never thinks too much of her losses against me. From what I know, she just shakes it off and smiles her usual bright smile.

As I walked passed another cafe, something caught my attention. A poster with my face on it was stuck on the wall. It said, 'a star coordinator for sure!' I smirked a little at how successful I had become only to remember the real reason I was out here.

I was still looking for May.

Taking a break on a nearby bench, I began to remember some things.

Flashback
"Are you really that certain that I can defeat Harley?" May asked me, her sapphire eyes sparkling as she looked at me with worry.

"Of course you can. You're May, you've got this." I reassured her.

Since coming back from Sinnoh and the Wallace Cup where she left her old friends, Ash and Brock as well as a new one, Dawn, May has been worrying much more. It was as though her loss at the Wallace cup took more of an impact on her than what we think.

"Okay, then. Let's do this." She announced standing up.

"I'll be watching." I told her.

She nodded and walked off to go to the battlefield.

I sat down in a seat in the audience as I watched May and Harley stand opposite each other on the battlefield, both glaring at each other.

"May the best coordinator win, and that's me." Harley said not getting rid of his glare.

Harley sent out his Wigglytuff and Cacturne while May sent out her Blaziken and Wartortle.

I watched as the two fought hard all the way until the time ran out. May was the clear winner for this contest and inside, I was cheering for her, because I'm a good friend right?

"May, I told you that you could do it." I said to her as she put away her fourth ribbon.

She looked at me and smiled.

"Thanks for believing in me, I feel like I'm starting to doubt myself too much." She murmured.

"Well don't, just stay confident. Alright?" I told her.

"Alright." She agreed as we parted ways and went off to whatever contest was next.

End of Flashback

Where could May have gone. Walking back to the Pokémon centre, I accidentally crashed into someone. Familiar blue eyes looked into mine as we collided quite harshly.

"May, are you alright?" I asked in concern reaching out a hand for her to grab as she was now on the floor.

"Yeah I'm fine. Um thank you." She looked up at my face and rubbed her arm from the impact.

"And um, you can let go of my hand now." She blushed looking down at our intertwined hands.

I quickly pulled back my hand and I felt my face heat up slightly but I covered it up with a hair flip. Nice save.

"Where have you been?" I asked her out of curiosity.

"Hello? May?" I said snapping my fingers in front of her face when she didn't answer me. Hm, strange.

"Huh? Oh yes sorry Drew, did you say something?" She asked.

"I asked where have you been." I repeated with a sigh.

"Just around the city..." she responded while looking around, sounding a bit different from her usual bubbly self.

"May.." I said, unsure.

"Yeah, that's where I've been." She nodded as though trying to tell herself that instead of me.

"Alright." I agreed although not fully convinced. "Where were you going?" I asked her after a few moments of awkward silence.

"Why so many questions?" She questioned back.

I stared at her, waiting for an answer when she finally sighed before looking me in the eyes and telling me truthfully.

"I'm going back to Petalburg City. I've decided that I will um..." she paused for the longest of time until I cleared my throat. "Huh?"

"What have you decided to do?" I asked, my patience was running out.

"You're not going to like this." She sighed staring at me intensely.

"Try me."

"I'm taking a break from contests. I know you wanted to go back to Kanto and do some contests there but, I'm not going to compete against you this time. I'm sorry, it's just, I- something came up." She quickly said.
"And I don't know how long this break might be for..." she mumbled.

"Oh." I felt my heart sink. I don't know why.

To be honest, I felt kind of disappointed knowing that my rival was not going to be competing with me for a while. But what could've come up that she'd want to take a break from contests?

May's POV

I hated lying to Drew. Yes, I did lie to him. I really didn't want to stop contests, I didn't even want to stop competing against Drew. But it was my abilities as a coordinator that stop me from winning every year at the Grand Festival. It was never my Pokémon's fault.

I overworked them this year. I realised this too late, my Pokémon were really tired. Taking a break was the best for them and myself. Plus, I don't want to keep feeling that horrible surge of defeat every time I lose a contest or Grand festival over and over again.

But the thing is, I really wasn't sure how long my break would be for. For all I know, it could be a year from now, or possibly even more.

Another part of my lie was that nothing actually came up to make me take a break. It was just a lame excuse I told Drew. I just didn't want him finding out that I just didn't have the confidence to compete in contests.

Out of nowhere I decided that I needed to get out of this place. So I made up another excuse.

"I have to go sorry!" I said to Drew in a rush, but my heart was telling me to stay and talk longer. But me being me, I decided against it. Yes that was a horrible excuse, once again.

To be completely honest, I didn't have to go anywhere yet. My flight back to the Hoenn region didn't leave until midnight, so I still had plenty of time. I don't even know why I just left Drew there anyway. I could still feel him watching me as I walked away into the crowded streets of Jubilife.

I found myself confused, like really confused. There was something wrong with me, but I just don't know what. Maybe the Grand Festival really made an impact on me altogether.

With a sigh, I walked around, and for once I wasn't interested in any of the stores or restaurants around me. I should be craving food right now, but I'm not. Maybe I'm just sick. Yeah that's probably it.

But I feel like there's something wrong with me, what do I do now?

Sorry that this was probably a very boring chapter. It's kind of a filler I guess. Eh I try my best.

Okay bye now =•.•=
