Chapter Two~Dreams~
~Recap~
I entered my room drained from the long day. I undressed myself, then burrowed under the covers until I heard a tap at my window. I parted my curtains to find a familiar frowning blonde girl with her cheeks puffed out. Even that habit of her's hadn't changed.
I opened the window.
"Can I stay the night?"
~End Recap~
~Rin's POV~
I climbed through the drafty window just barely containing my tears. Two years. Two years of ignoring their only daughter. Two years pretending I never existed. It had been hell watching everyone. They just seemed to... forget. It was almost like I was never there. And on top of that all, my parents left my room just the same. Every day, I would return home to my 'family' only to be completely ignored. Eventually, I'd tire and retire to my room, but tonight was diffrent. My room was gone. Today, they'd packed all my stuff away in the attic. I had no home to return to, and the gaping chasm that had torn into my chest had only widened. I felt empty, alone. Almost like a ghost. That was until Len had spoken to me today. I felt exuberance. That was until reality hit me: he had ignored me for two whole years! That idiot! But here I was, asking him for a favor. Praying that he'd help me.
"Sure, I guess..." he replied, shock painted on his face. He looked like he had seen a ghost!
"Thanks..." I confirmed, trying to mask the nostalgia. If only things could be the same as they once were...
"So..." Red began to spread across his face. What was that pervert thinking this time? "...Same as back then... or..?" And in that moment, I was ten again, freezing cold upon a hill, wrapped up in a patched up blanket feeling the warmth exuding off of him. A faint blush dusted my face and my ears were dyed red. The offer was tempting...
I felt myself nod, and I was transported back to all those countless forbidden nights spent together. Oh how I missed those nights... I laid on the bed facing the wall hoping to conceal my thoughts. I felt the matress sink down beside me, and was envoloped in an indescribable warmth. It felt like saftey, the haze you feel just as you're about to wake up from a good dream, and happiness all bundled up into one beautiful feeling. His arms wrapped tightly around me were my lifeline as I peacefully sunk into the world of dreams for the first time in a long, long time...
(A/N: Dreams will be Italicized!)
I was standing in the center of a bustling town... I felt an urge to chase after a marmalade cat I saw exiting an alleyway, and so my unfamiliar body approached it.
"Treble! Here kitty kitty!" My voice called out against my will. I needed to stop. It was too busy. There was too many cars!
The cat's eyes widened and it sprinted straight into traffic. I had to save it! Without my consent, my body rushed foward and dived. Everything was going smoothly... until my knees buckled and I collapsed. My mouth gasped into a silent scream as I was forced to watch the truck stream at my paralyzed body.
The world froze.
The cat was safe. A blonde boy was frozen mid-dash in my direction. A teal haired girl was frozen mid scream. A blue haired boy had dropped his icecream. To the side, a pink haired girl was attacking a man that had purple hair with frozen tuna. What a peculiar group...
Then, all at once, I was flying. The ground came too soon. I was a broken doll. My body was withered, my throat sandpaper. I felt myself convulse into a cough and a stream of metallic red liquid flowed out of my mouth.
"Please... just let me stay... I'm not ready... I want... to... stay... here..." My mouth felt like it was stuffed with cotton. "I'll... do... anything... just let me stay..." I knew it was the end, but my final plead did not go unheard. The white glow that was filling my vision vanished, and I was free. I was unrestrained from the earthly injuries that my body had crumbled under.
"So it shall be." A clear voice that originated from everywhere firmly stated. Then everything began to vanish...
"Rin. Rin! RIN!" I heard a urgent voice shout as I was jolted back into reality. My body was frigid and covered in sweat.
I could only gaze in wide eyed shock. He was completely distraught and it was the middle of the night.
"What's wrong?" I asked, worrying that he might be hurt.
He relaxed slightly as I opened my eyes.
"I thought I had lost you again... you were ice cold and weren't breathing. You scared me half to death..." Lost me again? What was he even talking about. I felt fine.
"I'm fine Len, don't worry." I comforted. I was still deeply shaken from my dream and apparently wasn't convincing enough.
"Liar." He responded, drawing me back twards him. "Tell me what's wrong."
"I had a nightmare, that's all." I conceded, deciding to let him win.
"Tell me about it, mabye I can help."
"Fine. I was walking downtown where I chased a cat and got hit by a car. The end." I could feel him tense up. I wonder what set him off?
"Well, anyways, it was just a dream..." he shakily retorted closing his eyes.
Even after his comforting words, I had this nagging feeling that it might have been more than a dream. That it had possibly happened...
A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed! Keep in mind that this Fanfiction is going to be shorter, than most, so we're about halfway through. Also, myself and a couple of friends have set up a joint account, under the name of Phangirlswhowrite so follow us for some awesome stories (Once they're posted :P .) If you have any suggestions, I'm open to them! Also, Rin's death is based on the Vocaloid song, Kagerou Days, so if you can, check it out. Be warned, it's a little (very) morbid!
