Hinami

A/N

Here's a little something different.

~Hinami's P.O.V~

Mr. Yoshimura woke me up bright and early as usual, with a cup of coffee and the usual kind smile.

"Good morning, Hinami. Sleep well?" He asked, placing the steaming cup down on my nightstand.

"I slept really good!" I replied, stretching an arm above my head before wincing. "Although my shoulder is still a little sore..."

I frowned after that. It has been nearly a week since the incident, but I haven't talked to Himika in days. On top of that, Himika has to stay behind and work while I go to school alone; where nothing but bullies are waiting for me. Hell, I don't even know how Himika's date went!

"Touka will be here to change your bandages in a minute, I'll be waiting downstairs while you get ready." Mr. Yoshimura said.

"Okay." I yawned back, throwing the covers aside.

The door shut with a soft click and I leapt out of bed, stretching this way and that to wake my body up. I pulled out my wrinkle-free uniform and laid it across my bed, grabbing for my backpack. I checked that I had all my books and then zipped it shut. All I have to worry about is lunch. Bleh, gross.

"Hinami? Can I come in?" Touka's voice asked after three knocks.

"Sure, the door's open!" I replied.

Touka walked in and over to my bed with a roll of bandages, making sure the door was shut before turning back to me.

"You know the drill by now," Touka said.

With a sigh, I pulled down my nightgown and stood in front of Touka, waiting patiently for her to begin taking the old bandages off.

"Hey, Hinami," Touka started. "Can I ask you something?"

"Of course, Touka." I chirped back.

Touka began unwrapping the bandages slowly. "I was wondering who gave you this wound? The manager never told me."

"I... I don't know if I should tell you." I nervously replied, fidgeting with my fingers.

"Why not?" Touka scoffed.

"You might try to hurt them," I said.

"No shit I'd try and hurt them!" She growled.

"But what if I told you they weren't being themself?" I asked.

"I'd drag their ass over here, slap some sense into them, and make them apologize because they're a week late!" Touka shouted.

I felt my eyes begin to get heavier, my vision blurred, and before I knew it, Touka was hugging me.

"I'm sorry Hinami!" She exclaimed. "If it bothers you that much, I won't bother asking who did it!"

"Thank you, Touka." I sniffled. "Because I honestly hate remembering when it happened."

~Time skip~

I splashed some cold water onto my face and shut off the tap, shaking my head left and right.

"Dammit." I hissed. "Why'd I have to go and cry? I'll be fifteen next year! I can't keep being a baby!"

I clenched my fist and slammed it down.

"Look at Touka, and big brother, they're both so strong." I choked. "And then there's Himika... She's younger than me and stronger!"

A shiver racked my body. A shiver I had felt many times before. Fear, pure unadulterated fear. I gripped my newly bandaged shoulder and grit my teeth. I wasn't scared of Himika, how could I be? Behind that cold strong exterior, she was just hurt, and lonely like the rest of us. I have no doubt in my mind that she's bitter about Kaneki leaving. For the time that Kaneki was away, they must've gotten really close.

It was certainly Shin. Much like big brother Kaneki, Himika was a half ghoul, my guess is that she became a half ghoul in a similar way. That day with Tsukiyama, something definitely happened, something that caused Shin to manifest and... I'd rather not think about the bite.

I finally left the washroom and made my way downstairs, where Touka, Koma, Irimi, and Mr. Yoshimura waited.

"I should get going now, tell Himika good morning for me!" I grinned.

"Bye!" Antieku called after me.

With one last wave, I left the cafe, my grin disappearing after I walked about a block. So many things had happened recently, I'm just so done with it all. I continued my everyday commute to school in uncomfortable silence, thoughts assaulting my mind. I arrived at school five minutes before the first bell rings and hurry to my locker, grabbing books for my next two classes and rushing to homeroom. My hand reaches for the door handle, but before I can open the door, a hand snatches my wrist and pulls me back. It just so happened that it was my injured side that they yanked, so I yelped out in pain, turning to whoever it was in anger.

"What the hell?!"

"Please don't kill me!" Yelped another voice.

I whirled around only to see Kentaro, cowering in fear and shivering. His hair was an unkempt mess, his skin two shades paler, and dark bags underneath his eyes.

"Kill you?" I repeated. "Why the hell would I?"

I messed with my fingers nervously. He was never like this before. Does he know something?

"I need to talk to you." He mumbled, taking a step back.

"Fine." I huff, grabbing his arm and dragging him away, towards the stairs leading to the roof.

Kentaro flinched and yanked his arm back. His eyes wide.

"Just hurry up, I have things to ask you as well," I grumbled.

Kentaro nodded quickly and scurried after me. What would his fangirls say if they could see him now? We made it to the roof and I shut the door, picking up a spare piece of plywood and inserting it into the handle so the door wouldn't open.

"Now," I coughed into my fist. "Speak."

"I know you're a ghoul!" He blurted out, then covering his mouth with his hands. "W-w-wait! L-listen to me!"

"You have one minute." I hiss, my foot rapidly shaking.

"My father works for the CCG, and according to him, they've already pieced together that you and everybody from you're little coffee shop isn't human." He explained. "I... uh... Kinda told Himika that, and she almost killed me."

"Anything else?" I asked.

"I pissed Himika off by trying to blackmail her into  dating me?" He squeaked.

"How are you even alive?" I shake my head, sighing.

"Himika said she was going to keep me around, and she made me buy her a cellphone and become her minion." He gulped. "I'm supposed to feed her information by phone and through you, also making me your... Minion as she called me."

"You have no clue how lucky you are." I shiver. "Himika can be quite violent when she wants to be. She also tends to resort to violence before listening."

"I've found that out myself." Kenatro nervously laughed, rubbing at his throat, which had bits of purple poking through some obvious makeup.

"Himika won't be at school for a while, she got... In trouble recently." I mumbled the last part. "Make sure you come see me everyone morning, snoop on your dads work as much as possible."

Kentaro nodded quickly. "Of course!"

"Class will be starting soon," I noted, heading back to the door. "Talk more tomorrow!"

Kentaro just sat there, shaking.

'The fuck have I gotten myself into?'

A/N

I actually loved writing this chapter! So much so that I have made a little omake for your enjoyment! In case you wanted to know what it's about, it's Kentaro after school snooping on his dad or attempting to anyway.

Enjoy!

~After School~

~Kentaro's P.O.V~

"Hey dad," I ask quietly, stepping into his study.

"What's up Ken?" He replied softly, pulling his tie off.

"I was just wondering if there have been any developments regarding that case your helping with," I said.

"Nothing much, although things have been getting interesting," He grumbled. "In fact, the CCG is thinking of heading into the twenty-fourth ward to exterminate the ghouls in the area."

"Oh." Was my intelligent reply.

"But that doesn't really concern you, I mean your school isn't that close to the twenty-fourth ward anyway." He chuckled. "Now come here! Give your old man a hug!"

I begrudgingly walk over and wrap my arms around his bulky neck. Dad hugged back but pulled away after a minute.

"Son?"

"Uh, yeah?" I nervously reply, he only calls me 'son' when it's serious.

"Are you wearing makeup?"

I quickly jump away, covering my face. Shit! What if he saw my eyes or neck?

"I... uh... I mean... Um..."

"It's alright Ken," He interrupts, nodding his head. "I'm fine with you being gay."

"No! Wait! I'm not! What?!" I blubber, shaking my head. "I'm straight!"

"It's alright, you don't have to lie." He smiles.

"I give up. I'm going to bed."
