Caught

Himika's had some bad days. Scratch that, Himika's had some shit days, but today has taken the cake.

"I wake up in a hospital," She growls, sitting up out of bed. "Without my eyepatch, and this happens?"

She sighed and slumped forward. "Why?"

Juuzou raised his case, a look of confusion on his face.

"So," He droned. "We going to fight?"

"Do we have to?" Himika whined. Yes, whined.

"I know my boss will be mad if I don't even try to fight against the Kunoichi ghoul." Juuzou grinned, finally pressing the button in his case.

The case transformed into a huge purple scythe with jagged edges. Juuzou swung his weapon around once before pointing it at Himika.

"Kunoichi Ghoul?" She asked. "Is that what they're calling me?"

She threw off the blankets and stood up, feeling cold air hit her arms.

"Oh come on! They took off my sweater?" Himika huffed. "Whatever, if we're going to fight let's get it over with."

Banter out of the way, they both charged. Not wanting to wreck the hospital room, Himika limited herself to punches and kicks, avoiding the scythe and attempting to not smash everything. Although she considered herself a taijutsu type, it still sucked that she couldn't release her kagune, or at least, not in such a small confined space.

Furniture flew across the room, along with several sharp knives and a bit of laughter. Juuzou was probably, most certainly insane. Or at least to some degree. Nonetheless, it was a fight, and Himika supposed her opponent's mental state had little to do with it.

The door slammed open, revealing the large tall man from before, with his clothes dishevelled and panting like a dog.

"Juuzou!" He exclaimed, apparently not noticing the trashed room. "They're ghouls-! Oh."

"Yeah, I figured it out." Juuzou chirped back, dodging a kick aimed at his knee.

"Her description matches the Kunoichi Ghoul." He noted. "Is she?"

"Well she hasn't used any fancy tricks yet, but I believe so." Juuzou replied, throwing another handful of knives.

Himika contorted out of the way, jumping to the open window.

"I'll be going now." She said, jumping out the window and landing only a story down.

"Oh no you don't!" The two investigators yelled after her, leaping out the window.

Himika turned to face them and clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Fine then, let's see you deal with this!" She roared, her hand flying through strange signs.

'Please say I remember how to do this.' Himika thought to herself, making the final sign. "Water style: Raging waves jutsu!"

A wave of water spewed from her mouth and surged towards them, however, it only succeeded in drenching the two men and the ground.

"That's it?" The taller man asked. "I'm just a little wet."

Juuzou eyed her suspiciously and her hands blurred again.

"Fire style: Fireball jutsu!"

Fire collided with the water and created steam, which succeeded in hiding her completely. Himika's breath quickened from the chakra usage, but she pushed on, forming the final handsigns for her finale.

"Lightning style: static strings!"

As the name suggests, two strings of lightning formed in her hands like whips, which shone through the steam cover. Himika cracked them like whips before lashing them at the two investigators. Not expecting the attack, the strings connect with their legs and shocks them both into unconsciousness. Himika slipped away, using her steam as a cover, however, she moved slowly due to exhaustion.

It's been a while since you've used chakra. Shin chuckled.

"Yes, yes it has." Himika sighs. "And I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon."

I have the feeling that's not going to happen.

"With my luck, you're probably right."

~With Touka and the manager~

The two of them had slipped out of the hospital but at the cost of Himika. Touka was livid. While she wasn't all that close with her, she was Hinami's best friend, and she was starting to warm up to her.

"We could've fought our way out of there." Touka hissed, holding her arm which was still bleeding.

"Touka, we're lucky that all you got was a cut on the arm." The manager replied. "Besides, Hinami should be back from school, and I'm betting she's going to be wondering where we all disappeared to."

"Fair enough," Touka replied through clenched teeth.

They travelled in silence, running across rooftops and through alleys when they had to until they finally made it back to the coffee shop.  Touka reached for the door, but a groan caught her attention.

"It came from inside," Touka said. "Who could it be?"

"Open the door." Mr. Yoshimura said.

Touka nodded and swung open the door, wincing afterwards at the sound of a thud.

"Ow."

Touka looked down only to see a mop of white hair.

"Himika!" She exclaimed. "I'm so glad you're alright!"

"I wouldn't say alright." She whispered out. "I'm tired, hungry, and just sick of all of this."

"She's fine." The manager smiled.

Himika rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say old man, but I'm hungry."

"Go to your room, I'll bring you something in about a half an hour," Touka said. "Also, keep your damn eye in check."

"Sorry," Himika mumbled. "But I really can't control that."

"But it should go away after eating..." Touka replied in confusion. "How often are you hungry?"

"A lot." She shrugged.

"Touka, we can talk about this later," Mr, Yoshimura interrupted. "For now, Himika, go to your room."

Himika tiredly trudged up the stairs and into her room, flopping onto the bed and reaching under her pillow. She pulled out her flip phone and dialled the only number in her contacts.

"Um... Hello?" A voice squeaked.

"Kentaro," Himika skipped the greeting. "We're in major trouble."

"How major?" He asked.

"I fucked up." She summed up.

"But, how?" He yelped nervously.

"Two investigators saw my face and recognized me." She explained.

"Oh, then this news is going to make your day even worse." He said, Himika could hear him gulp on the other end.

"Spit it out Kenatro." She hissed.

"The CCG is planning to launch an attack on the twenty-fourth ward." He said. "And judging from what my dad has told me, it's going to be happening soon. Really soon."

"How soon are we talking?" Himika prys.

"As soon as tomorrow, as late as three days from now." He answers. "It all depends on when they can get all the civilians in the area evacuated."

"Well shit." She curses.

"I told you that you wouldn't like the news." He sighed. "Oh yeah, and I had a nice long talk with Hinami earlier today."

"About what?" Himika asked, rolling onto her side.

"Well I told her to tell you as soon as she got home, but clearly that hasn't happened yet," Kentaro said, Himika heard shifting on the other end. "Anyways, I told her what I had basically already told you. The CCG has basically figured out both of your identities, just not where you lived. As long as they still don't know, you're a little safer than before."

"Problem, they know now."

A slap could be heard, along with a deep groan.

"Hate to say this, but you're fucked," Kentaro concluded. "I think you may even have sped up their plans."

"By how much?" Himika asked.

"Who knows? They could even start evacuating civilians as soon as their investigators return, I mean, unless you... Killed them?" He squawked.

"I didn't kill them." She sighed.

"I don't know if I should be worried or relieved." He mumbled.

"Both, definitely both." Himika sighed, her tone then turning serious. "One last thing Kentaro,"

"What?" He asked.

"If they find out that you've been helping us, come find me." She said. "I know you probably don't trust me since I threatened you into this, but I would feel bad if it got you in trouble, or worse, killed."

"Thanks?"

"That's all, keep in touch." Himika concluded.

"Bye?" Kentaro said, afterwards ending the call.

Himika's free hand curled into a fist and she smacked it down onto her bed.

"Perfect, just perfect." She mumbled. "How can I tell everyone else this? I have to warn them."

And for the first time in a long time, Himika had almost completely forgotten about Kaneki.
