Another Encounter
Himika had slowly, but surely become bored. She had finished reading Monochrome Rainbows by Sen Takatsuki and needless to say she was itching to read more of her books. She had returned the borrowed book and was contemplating whether she should find a library or wait boredly in her room and wait for Uta to finish her mask.
She got up from her sitting position on her bed and stood on the floor, stretching her slightly stiff muscles. She flipped up the hood of her sweater and snuggled her face into the red scarf.
"I should ask Touka for a map of Tokyo and find the nearest library." Himika decided, heading down the hall to Touka's room and knocking on the door.
"Come in." Touka replied from the other side of her door.
Himika turned the handle and pushed open the door before walking over to the desk that Touka was studying at.
"What's up Himika?" Touka asked, setting down her pencil.
"I need a map of Tokyo." She replied.
"Why?" Touka said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously.
"I need to know where the nearest library is." Himika answered. "And I'd like to get to know my way around the city."
"Alright," Touka agreed, reaching into her desk drawer. "But be back in two hours."
"Understood." Himika said. "See you later."
"Bye." Touka said, handing her a map.
Himika folded up the map and placed it in her jean pockets before waving goodbye to Touka and heading to the shops exit.
"Where are you going?" Nishiki asked.
"Just to the library," She replied. "I'll be back later."
Nishiki just shrugged and went back to work as Himika left the shop.
"Now I just have to figure out this map." She mumbled, taking out the map and unfolding it.
She studied the map as best as she could before begining to make her way to what she could only hope was the library.
"Why does everything look the same?" Himika complained, scowling at her map.
"Having problems with your map?" A sudden voice said.
Himika twirled around to see the same man that she and Hinami encountered on their way home from shopping.
"Ah," Himika faked surprise. "You scared me Mr. Amon."
"Sorry about that... Kimiko?" He said unsure.
"It's no problem Mr. Amon, I was just trying to find my way to the library." Himika said as she looked at her map again.
"Are you new to Tokyo?" A sudden voice asked.
Himika looked beside Mr. Amon and noticed an older man who was much shorter standing beside him. They both wore the same white coat and carried silver brief cases.
"Yeah, I moved here a month ago from a small town closer to the east coast." Himika said, not entirely lying. "I hate to be rude, but who are you?"
"Kureo Mado, nice to meet you." He replied.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Mado my name's Kimiko." Himika said, making sure to use her fake name.
"Do you need some help finding the library?" Mr. Mado asked.
"I hate to admit it, but I think I do need some help." Himika said, pretending to look embarrassed.
"We were just heading there to do some research, I'm sure we could show you the way." Mr. Amon suggested, looking at Mr. Mado for conformation.
"Sure, let's go." Mr. Mado agreed.
Himika followed them through the streets, wary from all the warnings Shin has given her. She already knew they were ghoul investigators from their cases and uniforms and decided it was best to go along and not do anything suspicious. Mr. Amon clearly didn't suspect a thing, Mr. Mado on the other hand was constantly smiling and giving Himika weird looks every so often. Mr. Mado simply gave her bad feelings.
"The library is just around the corner." Mr. Mado said. "Will you be alright getting home?"
"I'll be fine, my friend and her sister are picking me up at the library in a few hours." She lied.
Mr. Mado raised an eyebrow but said nothing as he continued leading the way to the library.
"Here we are." Mr. Amon said. "The library."
"Thanks a lot Mr. Amon, Mr. Mado." Himika said, giving them a quick goodbye before dashing into the library's section if Sen Takatsuki books.
Himika searched through the mountains of books for around an hour until she finally managed to find four books written by Sen Takatsuki. The books were, 'Dear Kafka,' 'Salt and Opium, 'The Black Goat's Egg,' and 'The Hanged Man's Macguffin.' The only other book they had was 'Monochrome Rainbows,' which she had already read.
Himika took out the library card Hinami had lent her and took out the four books under Hinami's name before finding a quiet place to sit and read.
She read in peace for about a half hour before she could feel she was being watched. She glanced around before her eye landed on Mr. Mado and Mr. Amon, who were sitting at a table and appeared to be researching. However, Mr. Amon was doing a bad job at hiding his staring, and now had a much more suspicious look on his face.
Not good.
Himika agreed with Shin, having the attention of two Doves could not be a good thing.
Himika gathered her books and decided to leave, hoping they wouldn't follow her home. Her hopes were crushed when the two investigators gathered their things and began following her from a distance.
'How do I throw them off my trail?!' Himika thought, frustrated.
Use your ninja skills. Baka.
Himika nodded to herself, thanking Shin for the reminder she could use ninjutsu.
Himika quickly ducked into an alley, picking up four random pieces of trash before begining to make hand signs. She transformed the garbage into replicas of her books and made a water clone of herself. Her clone held the 'books' and walked out of the alley.
Himika hid behind a dumster as she waited for the Doves to pass. Once they were gone, Himika took out her map and went home the long way.
Needless to say, the two Doves were beyond baffled when their target suddenly turned into a puddle of water and trash.
A/N
I know what you're all thinking.
"Why is Mado alive?!"
Well I changed some stuff, deal with it. Don't worry, Akira will still come in, but not till later okay?
Okay.
So yeah, like I've said, I'm changing stuff.
