Chapter 43
A/N Back to normal! Starting from chapter 39.
And I'm sorry, it's short but you'll have a super long chapter later this week.
I wish he would smile like that all the time.
Jeez, I really gotta ask him out on a date.

*Thomas*
I feel like death itself.
I just finished work. Alex left a little while ago for a class. I'm pretty sure he's finished with his class by now.
I walk out of the cafe walking back to my dorm. It's still an overcast day, but by now the sun has given up on trying to shine through.
I slowly walk into my dorm heading straight to my room.
I close the door behind me and turn and see a note on my bed.
Hey Thomas.
Sorry, I had to leave for class, maybe come to that old tree? Remember it?
-Alex
I smile slightly. I want so badly for him to care, but the same voice whispers, well, screams, that no one cares so why is he any different? I drop my bag from work and start walking quickly to his dorm.
I was curious as to why he would write a note, or when he did instead of coming back to the cafe.
After walking for a little while I notice that I'm now running for that same old oak tree that I know so well.
I start to see the tree in view and a figure against. I slow to a brisk walk.
Once I'm close enough I make out a small and sweet smile on his face. His hands nervously twitching by his sides.
"Hey." He says barely over a whisper.
"Hi.."
"So, was work okay after I left?"
"Yeah, I didnt get yelled at again."
"Good."
He looks at me intently before sliding against the tree, eventually plopping on the ground.
I join him on the ground, leaning heavily against the strong tree.
"So why'd you want to come here?" I ask.
"Besides the lake, this seems to be the place where you're most at peace. I like it when you're peaceful. You smile."
As the words tumble from his lips I feel my face getting slightly warmer.
"Heh, yeah." I puff out my breath a cloud of air following. I look up towards the cloudy sky.
"Thomas, you can vent to me, you know that right?" The question was so random it caught me off guard and the words just fell out.
"I know, but I'd be a burden and a bother. You don't deserve that."
He doesn't react, but I do, clamping a hand over my mouth turning to look at him. He's looking up at the sky.
"I know... I know that you feel like that. But you shouldn't." The last two words echoed through my mind as a reminder of earlier that day flashes in my mind.
I don't respond, only staring at the clouds.
"Thomas, I love you. You know that right?" I blush furiously not responding.
"Thomas... do you wanna go on a date?" HOW DOES HE SEEM SO CASUAL ABOUT THIS?!
"I, you, you don't hav-"
"But I want to!" He looks at me in the eyes, I can see the swirl of emotions clearly on his face now.
"This Saturday, at 12?"
I smile the widest I've ever smiled in a few years. A real smile one that isn't forced or faulters after too long.
I nod quickly. He nods, satisfied turning his attention back to the endless blanket of clouds.
I lay my head on his shoulder, reaching for his hand.
For once no other thought passed through my head, no voice denying the happiness that was so desperately out of reach.
It was something beyond peaceful. Beyond happy.
It was relieving like someone took all the weight of life off my shoulders. Sitting leaned against a tree holding Alex's hand, propping my head on his shoulder, and staring at a bland and sad sky, is when I felt happiest.
A/N Floof. It's short only cause I can't really add much to this. BUt hope ya'll enjoy anyway. Jamilton is moving along it's coming. Thank you for reading, commenting and voting and
