High Hopes
Hello loyal readers! This is the second story of the soon-to-be collection of my Pokéspe short stories! Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters mentioned in any of my stories. Nintendo does. You should check them out some time. They're REALLY cool. Anyhoo, this month, the story will revolve around X, Y, Tierno, Shauna, and Trevor. It's been about a year since the Team Flare incident in the Kalos region. Every one of the five friends are busy achieving their dreams and dreaming of new dreams. What could possibly go wrong?

Setting: Vaniville Town, Kalos
P.O.V. : First Person, X's
X - Age: 12 (B-day November 6)
Y - Age: 12 (B-day February 2)
(I guess everyone else is 12 too because I don't know the rest of their B-days)

Another morning, another opportunity for a new day.
My name's X, and I've spent about five years locked up in my room, finally leaving it a year ago.
Ugh, that wasn't a good introduction.
I'm still getting used to talking to people.
And I don't want any fan-girls just screaming and squealing that are begging to see me. I hate paparazzi.
Anyway, my best friend, Y, is taking her Sky Trainer Final exam today. Gotta get ready.
As I step out of my newly rebuilt house, the sun seems to smile at me as I call Salamè out of its Pokéball.
"Salamè, Fly!"
When I arrive at the Sky Trainer Training school, Shauna, Tierno and Trevor are already waiting for me at the entrance.
"X-ey! You're late!" Shauna cried.
She was holding a big, rolled-up piece of paper. Knowing Shauna, I had a hunch that it contained something like: "GOOD LUCK, Y! YOU CAN DO IT!" or something like that. And since almost all of my hunches were correct, I didn't ask her what it said.
"Oh! X! There you are! The teachers were so nice, they even let us sit in the bleachers while Y did her test!" Tierno appeared behind Shauna.
"Where's Y?" I asked. I hope they didn't think it was for THAT reason. I said too much.
"She's still taking her classes. Don't worry though, she's on her last 10 minutes." Trevor answered for Shauna.
"Oh, I'm getting a call on my Holocauster! Hold up." Trevor stepped outside of the building and started taking his call.
After hanging up, Trevor explained to us what the call was about.
"It's Y's mom. She wants us to come over so that we could talk before the exam."
"Sounds great. Let's go then." I sounded way too enthusiastic. Why am I acting like this?
"Hey kids! You can take a seat over there, on the sofa. Feel free to turn on the TV if you want." Mrs. Gabena always wants us to feel like we're home. I wish I could've spent more time with her and Y when I was little.
WHAT AM I THINKING?!
"Okay, I got some GREAT news for you guys, especially you, X." Mrs. Gabena sounded more excited with every word, so I actually listened to every word she said.
"KORRINA'S BEEN RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL!!! Isn't that amazing? After almost a year..."
"Excuse me."
Before I even knew what I was doing, I was outside the house, already on Salamè, and headed directly for Shalour city. Korrina woke up from her coma just five months ago, and I couldn't help but cry tears of joy.
What is it with me and girls these days?
"X! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!"
"Y!"
She was in her Sky Suit, flying right next to me.
"Oh...umm..."
"It's Korrina, isn't it. You can go visit her AFTER I've finished doing my FINAL EXAM X."
"I...ehh...yeah..."
"X, do you know just how important this is for me? DO YOU?"
"Yeah...I mean...of course I do!"
And in less than 2 minutes, we were back in Vaniville, sitting on the bleachers of the Sky Trainer Training School.
The school's field looked identical to one of a regular sports field, except it covers the bleachers with glass (so that Trainees' Pokémon's moves didn't hit the spectators) and ginormous fans (so that they could keep the Trainees in the air)
"Next student, Yvonne Gabena. Please proceed to the center of the field."
Y appeared, and Shauna started cheering and doing these cheerleader things she might've practiced the night before. Y sheepishly waved back, before turning completely serious.
"First step: How long can you glide before you hit the ground at an altitude of a 5 story building?"
Y let her shoulders relax a bit. She was ready.
She jumped. Y shot up, up, up, and she stopped when the whistle was blown two times. After a few moments, the coach's whistle was blown three times in rapid succession.
The fans turned off, and I was kind of worried of what was about to happen next.
Y started gliding, circling the sky like a Skarmory. Skarmory don't flap their wings, like other Flying Types, but instead, glide from one place to another. I read it in a magazine I used to like when I was little. Although it may seem like it can't move that quick, it can reach top speeds of one hundred and sixty kilometres per hour.
Y had her flying stance pretty steady for the first two minutes or so, but it was a few moments later when I could tell that she was struggling.
"Okay! You've reached the test's time limit and you can now come down, Yvonne. Great job!" the coach announced. She had a timer in her hands, and clicked the STOP button. It said 10 minutes and 59 seconds.
"Y-ey did awesome!" Shauna was shaking Trevor's shoulders in excitement.
"You are now permitted a 10 minute break before the next step. Keep it up, Y!"
We did a little picnic right next to the field, and it felt just like when we were kids. A nostalgic feeling came over me, but I couldn't quite determine what it was.
Before we knew it, Y had finished the first part of the exam, and she was now heading into the school's library to do the written part of the exam.
"Y's coach says we can't head into the library because she needs to focus as much as possible on that part of the test."
Trevor explained the other procedures we had to follow during the next segments.
"Hey, pajama boy!"
My heart stopped. I knew that nickname, and there's only one person who calls me by that name.
I whirled around, to find myself facing none other than the Shalour Gym Leader, Korrina, along with Master Gurkinn at her side.
"Korrina!" It turns out everyone else was also worried about her well-being, so I guess its a normal thing for everyone to be glad.
So I'm not turning crazy. Good.
"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting at home?" Shauna was the one who took care of Lucario when she was unconscious.
"Oh, I just wanted to see one of my good friends complete her test and officially become a Sky Trainer."
The next week, Y's results for her final exam came in the mail. I was the first one to see the mailman coming in; I was trying to do some gardening outside. (Epic fail)
She passed the first part, but she unfortunately didn't pass the second one.
"Mom, I've always told you that it was MY decision to enter the Sky Academy. If I failed, then I failed, mom! I quit on becoming a Sky Trainer. Now leave me alone!"
"Y, you know that you're the type of person who never gives up. The school was nice enough to give you an extra semester for you to graduate from the Academy. Why don't you try that?"
The window of Y's room was left open, so I could hear their arguments from my house.
That night, Y knocked on my window.
"X, do you think I should become Sky Trainer...or should I just become a Rhyhorn racer, just like my mom...?"
"It might sound very poetic and childish, but I say that you should do whatever you think you should do. W-why don't you try both?"
"Both? Whaddya mean, both?"
"Well, why don't you try being a Sky Trainer and a Rhyhorn racer? The company that Diantha's working for is hiring Sky Trainers, with whatever education they have. And I think you would do great as a Rhyhorn racer, too."
"Yeah...I'll think about it. Thanks for making me snap out of my blindness, X. Why didn't I think of that in the first place?"
She turned to leave out the window. As always.
"Oh, and I think I'll be more nice to you than that Korrina girl, okay?"
What. Did. She. Mean. By. That?
"What am I saying?! We're just friends, right?" she started fidgeting with her fingers.
Obviously she didn't think about us...that...way...Did she?
"I..uhh..."
Y turned at me and smiled. My face felt warm. She knew it. And I knew it, too.
"See you tomorrow, next door neighbor."

About three months have passed since Y's Final Exam, and she's now one of our most respected actors working in Lumiose TV, starring as the Super Hero in the new hit TV show. I have to say, it's become one of my favorites, not only because my best friend is the main character, but because she also doubles as a cowgirl who loves to ride on Rhyrhy. OK, its because my best friend's name is the first to appear in the credits.
Oh, and Fletchy evolved into a Talonflame about a week before. I hope the director will change some stuff to the plot so that Fletchy could fit in perfectly.
About me and Y...we're still friends. We think it's a bit too soon, for people our age at least. And I've gotten used to talking to people. Trevor says that I've become the person I was before I locked myself up.
I'm being more of an extrovert than I was before. Is it a good thing or not? I guess I'll find that out when I grow older.
Right now, I just want to be with my friends before it becomes way too complicated. That is, of course, IF you know what I mean.

Hello, everybody! I'm actually very surprised of how much attention this book has gotten... even after the first Short Story was published. Sorry if the plot went kind of fast by the end...But I hope you enjoyed it! Check out my profile to see a sneak peak on the chapters that will come out this month!
