So, hey everyone! How's...everyone...doing...I'm worried about what people will think about this chapter because I...haven't read the Ruby and Sapphire chapter...BUT I HAVE read some spoilers on Bulbapedia (bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net), so I'm basing this story on what I have read so far. Franticshipping! Hip-hip, HOORAY! This story will take place at least two years after the Emerald Arc. Enjoy!

Everything seemed peaceful in the Hoenn region. Nothing but grass fields, towns and cities, Pokémon, and people dwelled there.

"Sapphire Birch, get back here this instant!!"

A blue-eyed girl ran out of the Birch Research Laboratory, and started climbing up a tree.

"Ya ain't making me go t' that school!"

Ruby happened to be walking past the laboratory, when he heard arguments coming from the backyard.

"Sapphire, sweetie, you might get hurt! You know that you're too big to be climbing up trees!"

"Professor! Is something wrong?"

"Ruby...! As a matter of fact...YES! Can you somehow convince Sapphire to come down? While you do that, I'll go call the firefighters just in case..."

"I'm on it! Sapphire! Yoo-hoo! Can you come down, please?"

"Nuh-uh, Ruby. Not unless you tell me why you forgot Mirage Island."

Ruby hesitated for a millisecond.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about." His face was subconsciously turning red.

"Don't ya lie t' me like that, Ruby! You're so prissy! I'll j'st have t' tell ya myself! Ruby, I really lik-"

The branch that Sapphire was standing on snapped, and she started falling down. Down from the tallest tree in Littleroot Town.

"SAPPHIRE!"

She hit the ground sideways, shoulders first. Then her head knocked hard against one rock.

Ruby ran towards her. He started shaking her shoulders, in hopes of her regaining consciousness. His gloves were stained with blood. He didn't even notice. All he cared about was making sure Sapphire was okay.

                                        ______________________________

"The doctor says she has mild amnesia, and a dislocated shoulder. But we fixed the shoulder problem already, she should be using it fine."

"Thank you, thank you for taking care of my daughter!"

Professor Birch walked back to the waiting room, where Ruby and Emerald were sitting. Emerald came just a while ago to check if Sapphire had woken up from her unconsciousness already. And of course, he came to check on Ruby, too, just to see how he was taking all of this stress.

"Great news, boys. Sapphire'll be alright...except..."

"Except what?" Ruby sounded more hopeful than ever, he was really worried about his friend's health.

"Except that she might not remember who we are..."

Ruby put his hand over his mouth in shock. Emerald was getting sick to his stomach.

"Professor Birch, Sapphire has regained consciousness!" the nurse stuck her head out of the door, looking for the Professor.

"I'll be right back!"

He jogged out of the waiting room.

"Do you think Sapphire will remember who we are...?"

Ruby just stared into his hands, while Emerald was struggling to find the right words to say to him. After all, Sapphire was his friend, too.

After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, Ruby got up, and headed towards Sapphire's room. Emerald, not expecting that, was hot on his heels.

"W-wait up, Ruby!"

When they entered the room, they could see Professor Birch sitting on a chair next to the bed, nervously biting his fingernails.

"Oh! Ruby! Emerald! Don't worry, she's just asleep."

"I am not asleep."

"Sapphire! You're awake!"

Ruby was about to go and jump up and down of joy, but he realized something wasn't right. Sapphire's wild accent was gone. She almost sounded...humble.

"Sapphire! Thank goodness you're awake! We were all getting worried about you...Sapphire?" Emerald noticed it right after Ruby. Sapphire wasn't herself.

"Who are you guys?"

"Ruby, come back!"

Ruby had run out of the room, headed straight for the bathroom. Once he got there, he put his hands in face.

Sapphire isn't just Sapphire anymore. She's forgotten us completely, and it seems like she's acting exactly like when she was little.

Ruby obviously still remembered Mirage Island.

No, no, I couldn't have just TOLD her...I had the chance right back then...

"Ruby?"

Emerald was standing in the doorway of the bathroom, a worried look on his face.

"Sapphire's been released from the hospital, and she's going home tomorrow morning. We should go to our homes, too."

Sapphire was sitting in the passenger seat of her father's car.

"So, um...did you sleep well last night?"

"Yes, father I did."

An uncomfortable silence filled the car.

"Father, who were the two boys who appeared in my room last night?"

Professor Birch sighed.

"Those two boys are your friends. The one dressed in red is called Ruby, and he is your best friend. The other one is called Emerald. He is also one of your closest friends."

"They're, my friends...?"

"Yes."

After having a silent dinner with her dad, Sapphire decided to go to her room to find out more about herself.

When she first entered, the first thing she noticed was the big picture frame that was hung on her wall. It was the picture of all of the first 10 Pokédex Holders, right after things had calmed down a bit (Emerald Arc). Of course, she didn't know that.

There was another frame next to it, but it didn't contain a picture. It contained Gym Leader Badges. All eight of them.

Professor Birch was leaning on the door frame, watching Sapphire's curiosity get the best of her.

"You challenged Ruby to a bet long ago. You wanted to see who would achieve their dreams first in 80 days, but it ended up in a tie."

Ding Dong!

The doorbell rang.

"I'll go get it."

Sapphire usually slid down the stairs, sitting on the handrail, but her dad was amused to see her walk down the stairs. Her hand was even holding on to the rail.

"Who is it?"

"Oh, hey Sapphire!"

Ruby and Emerald were standing on the porch, shopping bags filled with sewing supplies.

"Hey guys! What's that you have there?"

"Just some sewing stuff, and a lot of fabric. Me and Emerald were thinking, if...you wanted to compete in a contest with me... but of course, you need a fancy outfit to enter..."

"Yes! I'd love to work on a dress! Come on in!"

And for the next two weeks or so, Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire worked on the dress that would soon be shown for the first time in the Grand Festival.

"And now, we just need to cut off this extra string...and done! Sapphire, your dress is ready!" Ruby admired his masterpiece.

"Wow! It looks amazing, guys!" Sapphire pushed Ruby and Emerald out of the room to change into the dress.

"I hope the dress fits her..." Ruby thought absent-mindedly.

"You need to stop flirting and just tell her." Emerald obviously knew what was up.

"W-w-what are y-you talking about?"

Emerald sighed. It was no use getting Ruby to snap out of HIS supposed "amnesia".

"Okay! You guys can come in!"

Sapphire's dress was a deep, royal blue, with no sleeves, and the skirt fell to her knees. She was wearing white gloves that reached up to her elbows, so she truly looked like a princess.

Emerald decided to make a move.   'That'll make Ruby really mad. And probably make him snap out of his amnesia.' he thought.

"Wow, Sapphire! That dress actually fits you!"

"Ha ha...thanks!"

A silence filled the bedroom. All that could be heard was the alarm clock sitting on Sapphire's nightstand.

"The rhythm of the clock ticking kinda wants to make me dance..." Sapphire said.

"Then may I have this dance then?" Emerald held out a robotic arm, to Ruby's shock.

Sapphire and Emerald awkwardly started a little waltz, to the rhythm of her alarm clock.

As Emerald twirled Sapphire around, the next thing she knew, she was waltzing into Ruby's arms, instead of Emerald's.

Ruby shot a quick glare at Emerald, but all he got was a shrug from him.

Sapphire sensed the tension in the room.

"I...uh...think we should start signing up for the Festival..."

"My name's Ruby, and this is my friend, Sapphire. We'll both be participating in the Grand Festival."

"Okay! Ruby, your contestant number is 47, and Sapphire's number is 52. Good luck!"

The staff at the Pokémon Center handed their ID cards to them.

After grabbing a quick snack at a fast food restaurant, Ruby and Sapphire started planning on which Pokémon they should use for each category.

"I might just use Kirly for Cleverness, and Chic for Coolness...Oh, this is so stressful! And the Contest is in just two days!"

Emerald leaned over to Ruby and started whispering something to him.

"I've never seen Sapphire this excited for a Pokémon contest...uh...Ruby?

He was gazing at Sapphire, who was taking out all of her Pokémon, just meeting them for the first time.

"Huh? What? What did you say?" Ruby snapped out of his daydream.

Emerald snickered.

"And the first place winner goes to...Olivia! Congratulations!"

Sapphire was already sitting on the stands next to Emerald and Ruby. He had lost too.

"Oh well...at least it was fun participating, right Sapphire?"

"Yes, I think you're right."

Ruby glanced over at Emerald, and he nodded, signaling him to start the plan.

Last night, Emerald came over to Ruby's to talk things over about Mission: Mirage Island, as Emerald called it.

"Ruby, I've had enough of this supposed "amnesia" you've developed after visiting Mirage Island."

Ruby sighed.

"I guess you're right, but what will I tell her?"

"I have an idea."

The plan was to fly over to Mirage Island on Sapphire's Tropius, in hopes of her having her memories back, and then Ruby will tell her that he actually remembers what happened in Mirage Island. If that doesn't work, then Ruby will have to explain everything that she told him that day, and then he will tell her about his "amnesia". It was perfect.

"Sapphire, can you bring out your Tropius for me...?" Ruby looked like he was about to have an anxiety attack at any moment.

Act normal. he told himself.

Good. Everything seems to be running smoothly. Emerald thought to himself.

"Sure! Come on out, Troppy!"

Tropius came out, and Sapphire hopped onto his back. Ruby and Emerald climbed after her.

"Where do you guys want to go?" Sapphire smiled back at him.

Ruby began stuttering when he realized where he was about to go.

"Uh, Mirage Island. I'll tell Troppy where to go."

"Of course, come on right up!"

As they were exchanging spots, Emerald sat silently, observing to see if Ruby was about to give up or not.

A few minutes later, they had arrived. Ruby helped Sapphire get off.

So far so good. Emerald thought.

The three friends stood in silence for a moment, admiring the view of the rarely visited island.

"Sapphire, there's something I want to talk to you about."

Both Sapphire and Emerald looked up at the same time.

Sapphire's eyes were filled with curiosity, while Emerald's had angst in them.

"A little while before we both finished our bet, we had to save the world from two evil teams."

Ruby stopped for a second here.

"We were more like rivals than friends, in my point of view at that time, but you said something that changed the way I would think of you for a long time. You said...that you liked me."

Ruby looked up to see what was her reaction, and he could see that her eyes were shining.

"I, of course, hadn't noticed this, and it took me a while to say that...I returned those feelings, too."

Emerald decided it was best to not look. So he stared at the ocean instead.

"The only reason why I decided to like you back at the time was because...we were childhood friends, and I hadn't recognized you as the little girl who used to love frilly dresses."

He stopped here. He was getting choked up, and his eyes were filling with tears.

"I wanted t-to tell you this because, you don't have any memories of what happened..."

"Ruby...I would be so happy if I would've remembered."

He looked up at her, tears rolling down his cheeks.

She smiled at him. And he smiled back. Emerald let out a sigh of relief.

Just then, Sapphire started grabbing her head.

"Owww...My head hurts....It hurts so much...."

"Sapphire? What's wrong?" Ruby held Sapphire's shoulders to keep her from falling down.

The last thing Ruby heard from her before she blacked out was:

"My memories...are back..."

"Great news! She's completely recovered! I think she has her accent back too."

Professor Birch walked towards Ruby and Emerald.

"You guys can go talk to her."

"Ruby!? Emerald!? What are ya doin' here?"

"Oh...umm...we were the one's who took you to the hospital."

"We're glad you're back, Sapphire." Ruby was wiping his eyes.

"Thanks. Anyway, I jest 'ave one little question for Ruby."

He turned beet red at the sound of his name.

"Why were we at Mirage Island?"

"I-I-I-I don't know w-what you're talking about. You blacked out at you're backyard, remember?"

Emerald face-palmed himself.

"Oh yeah...Now I remember."

Oh well. Emerald thought to himself.

It's best not to tell them what actually happened. I want to see this drama unfold naturally.

"Oh! One more thing! My dad invited you guys over for dinner! Ya better make sure you're there early!"

"Yep! We'll be there!"

"Hahaha..." Emerald snickered.

Hello everyone! I think this is the chapter I've had most trouble writing, since I'm kind of unfamiliar with the characters and places in the story. I tried my best to make it sound as professional, so I hope you enjoyed it. Next chapter coming June 30!
