CH I 3
Scoffing my throat hitched, and made a nasty sound. It caught the Alpha’s attention and he gave a low growl. Causing some of the pack to take an involuntary step backwards. Wow scared much. Putting his pen down, he cups both hands together. Looking around till his eyes settle on me.
“What is it Vince?”
“Alpha we have located the Sniper” The Alpha sits up a little straighter.
“Well bring the culprit here” Waving his hand forward. Vince looks at me, and nods for me to walk forward.
“Oh brother” Slipping my hands into my pockets. Walking to the Alpha, standing right in front of him.
“Vince, please tell me your joking” One hand rolling fingers on the hard desk, while the other holds up a tightened jaw line.
“No Sir” Bowing his head. Sighing and rubbing his temples, he looks like he might implode at any second. Looking at me, he frowns.
“Miss did you kill all those livestock?”
“I’m guessing so” Shrugging. He opens his eyes a little more.
“Really? With what? That stick of yours?” Chuckling. His arrogant ways and lack of giving me props for my skills was something I have a hard time looking away from.
“No I used my voodoo mid tricks on them. Dick” pulling my hands out and folding them over my chest. He roared at my insulted, making my face look another way.
“Watch your mouth, fleshing.” Growling.
“Then don’t insult me” Glaring back. He doesn’t seem to like that I won’t look away. Smirking to myself, I keep my eyes locked to his sapphire ones.
“Vince, did you see her kill the livestock?”
“No Sir, she just said she’s been eating meat”
“You” Looking at me, he stands up. Yup very tall.
“What did you eat last night?”
“Cow”
“Where?”
“Eastern side of the city.” Keeping my eyes on his. Growling, he pushed his hands down on the desk, making it shake.
“I don’t believe it” Coming around the desk, and getting near me, but not enough to smell.
“You will show me, just how good you are with this stick” Pointing at my bow.
“With Pleasure” Frowning.
“Vince take her to the field.” Vince ran over, taking my hand and pulling me away from the Alpha. Walking outside, we took a few turns before Vince opened another door and we were back outside. Sun bursting into my eyes, making me blink.
“You should be quiet” Vince Whispered as the Alpha soon came out.
“I’m not scared of him.” Huffing. An archery lane was set up. Distance ranging from, 25 ft to 1000 ft. Walking over the white line drawn on the ground, they stood and watched. I don’t like using my arrows unless I’m in a fight. Grabbing a handful of arrows, I checked them out. Made very well I smiled, slipping them in my mouth.
“Shoot the 25ft target” The Alpha yelled. As if I couldn’t hear him. Rolling my eyes, I was going for the 1000ft target. Lacing one arrow, getting into my stance. Drawing my bow, closing one eye before letting out a breath. My hand releasing the string, letting the arrow rocket out of my hold. Grabbing another arrow, before that one made contact I shot another, then another. The sound of the arrow leaving my bow, before whacking the board. Seven arrows later I turned my head around, grinning.
“I’ll go pull those out of the center for you” Laughing as the group looked on with open mouths. Walking to the board too a few minutes, in that time I kept looking a little to see if they were looking at me. Standing in front of the board, I took a quick look. The Alpha and the pack were busy talking and not paying attention to me. Smirking my body slowly slipped into the tree line, disappearing. Walking away till I thought that running out be safe. Making it a good ways, I heard the roar probably from the Alpha. Followed by a few howls.
Moving faster, I had to make better time then them. Jumping over a few fallen branches, making my feet carry me faster. Breaking through the trees and into the city limits. Running around a burned and rusty car, dashing into a crumbling building. Being hear before help, I knew the route in which to take. Making it to the top floor, and looking out the broken windows. The pack in which Vince ran came crashing out of the trees.
“Woman?” He yelled, the Alpha soon stepping out.
“Hey yea Vince” Leaning against the steel frame.
“GET DOWN HERE NOW!” The Alpha roared.
“Umm no thanks, you’re a little to hot tempered for my taste.” Folding arms over my chest.
“Woman you will pay dearly if you don’t come down” He warned. Widening my eyes.
“Dearly you say...ohh well that changes nothing.” Laughing at his stunned face.
“Oh yea and Alpha the names Sniper, Lock up your sheep bitch” Pointing at him. The wind picked up grabbing my hair and floating down to the trees. As the Alpha was about to snarl some new remark my way he stopped, sniffing the air.
“Mate” Those stunning blue eyes turning a dark color. Vince went bug eyed as his Alpha spoke the word.
“Ohh well now, doesn’t this just take the cake.” Slapping my leg.
“Your MINE!” Growling while taking another step.
“Umm no, not really” Tapping my chin. “I belong to no one. See I’m a stealthy sniper, we travel alone. Besides I don’t think you’re a very good shot” Shrugging. With my mouth getting me into deeper trouble he glared at me.
“You would do well to come down here, and stop your talking”
“Now what’s the fun in that. Besides from up here you look like a very intimidating….bug” Shaking violently her started cussing me out.
“Dirty mouth, tisk tisk, manors Mr. Alpha.” Waving my finger back and forth.
“WOMAN!” Clenching fists tighter.
“Names, Fade. But you can call me Sniper Fade.” Taking a bow. Keeping my eyes on his.
“Well Now that we have gotten that out of the way, I bet be off. Lots of livestock to plunder” Making a fist and swinging it by my stomach. Disappearing from the window, he yelled for me again.
“FADE!” Roaring. I was already running up the last part of the building before launching myself over to the other building. The weight from the ruble barely holding me, never mind holding a god knows werewolf.
“FIND HER” Yelling at the pack. They took off trying to get me. Running over the top of a still standing building, crossing a cat walk. Vince was on another building yelling at me.
“What happened to coming peacefully?” He shouted.
“No said I would come as peacefully as a sleeping kitten, well this kitten just woke up, and is a blazing Tiger” winking at him. He smiled giving chase to me. Bolting to the other side of the building, he followed across his building. Keeping an eye on me at all times.
“SEE YEA VINCE” Flipping open my knife, launching my body off the huge building.
“FADE!” He screamed, leaning over the side of his building. Swinging my knife into a huge wrapped flag, slowly cutting the fabric as I drifted to the ground. Dropping the ten foot drop, waving to him and taking off.
“Damn that girls got spunk.” Watching as I disappeared around another building. Pouring a little of the witch hazel over my head, capping the rest and tucking it between my breasts. Just like my name I fade into the darkness, keeping still and quiet as a pack runs by. Waiting for them to put enough distance, I sneak back out and push a man hole cover away, dropping down. Walking under the city, I navigate my way to a different side. I will say this much wouldn’t of minded another peach, oh well.
Making it all the way to the other side of the city, climbing up the bent rebar stairs, slowly pushing the cover off the manhole. Peaking out, I didn’t hear anything or see anything for that matter. Pulling my body out, covering it back up. Walking to the edge of a building, looking out over the street. Dead, completely dead. Ummm something’s not right here. Turning around I opted for jumping the fence instead. Walking the half fallen brick fence, jumping to the sticking out pipe in a wall. Twisting my body so I could jump into the broken window.
Making it inside, with only a few scrapes, I quickly bandaged them up. Faster then your personal smell, blood will bring wolfs. Crawling to the other side of the house, keeping my weight spread out. Leaning against the middle part between two windows, slowly letting myself look out. A street away a larger pack was checking the whole area. Sighing leaning my back against the wall, they’d be here soon. I might have had a better chance of getting away, had I not been the Alpha’s mate.
Mentally kicking my ass, I needed a new plan now. At this point hiding wont work, he’ll have them check ever inch of the city. Time to get out of dodge. Crawling back to the other side, I need a way to get out of the city. Looking out the back windows, I see something that might help. Cardboard boxes, by the dozens. If I land right, they will not only soften my blow. But wont hurt to bad, as long as there isn’t anything under them.
Pulling myself out the window, grabbing my bow and quiver. Holding both to my chest, taking one good breath before flinging myself so my butt and back hit the boxes. Getting lucky there was only boxes, and I break a few. Flopping around like a fish, this is defiantly not the most graceful way of getting up. Hooking the quiver back and looping my bow around my arm, I take my quiet leave. Entering the forest, making each step the best step. Once I felt comfortable, I climbed a tall tree and took a rest. From this height, I could see parts of the city, and the wolves running around like ants.
Sighing I sat back down and tried to rest, soon I would need to eat. And knowing that Alpha he would have all the livestock guarded, which meant…berries for dinner. That is if I could find some, maybe a rabbit. However that would need to be cooked, and a fire wasn’t in my best interest. Feeling the pressure, my eyes trailed over the setting sun. Singing quietly to myself, I used the on of the last song I ever heard.
“I've seen the world, Done it all, Had my cake now, Diamonds, brilliant, And Bel Air now. Hot summer nights, mid July. When you and I were forever wild. The crazy days, city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child.” Taking a deep breath.
“Will you still love me. When I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me. When I got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will. Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful?
I've seen the world, lit it up. As my stage now. Channeling angels in the new age now, Hot summer days, rock 'n' roll
The way you play for me at your show. And all the ways I got to know. Your pretty face and electric soul”
Shaking my head before the tears bring in a world of hurt, I let my head hit the trunk. That song was my mothers favorite, she use to say it sounded like a lullaby. I would love to hear some real music, like when I was younger. Fergie or even Shakira, loving the way they were full fire. Teaching myself how to dance by watching them. Smiling to myself as I thought about the time my mother walked into my bedroom, to see me dancing the Dirty song by Christiana. My father almost had a heart attack, when she told him.
Aww yes memories, they seem to be the only things I get to keep of them now. In this world, I never got a chance to cry. Crying meant taking the time to burry ones, loves. And that took time, something I didn’t have much of. It couldn’t of been stressed enough to me, to never get caught. Father had drilled me in everything he new about. Being a former SEAL, helped in many ways. He was tuff on me, but said it would help me in the long run. I missed his wild stories about sneaking into enemy territories, and coming back with a victory.
The funny faces he would make, when a boy would take interest in me. To him I was still a baby, and no one was ever good enough to have me. If he only knew the Ruler of all Wolves was my mate, wonder what he’d say then…..probably something like.
“Ha, that’s no young buck. Bet that devil of a dog can’t even fetch a stick right.” Of course it would be with his arms folded, and a scowl on his face.
Lighting a smoke, puffing on the calmness that it brings. Running my fingers threw my hair, checking the surrounding areas. Pressing the smoke between my lips, climbing down. Hitting a pile of pine needles, my senses are on high alert. Being in a tree gives you a safe feeling, where being on the ground makes you feel like a new born foal. Needing a cool drink and a little something to eat, I venture deeper into the woods.
Trash is everywhere, so finding a plastic bottle is like finding gold. Its even better when you find a perfectly sealed bottle of water. Picking it up, using my pants to clear the dirt away. Reading the expiration date…like really when does water really go bad. Twisting the cap, it crackles letting me know its safe. You find that when your alone for most of your life, you get to thinking a lot more then normal people would.
