1. The Swede comes from a royal family in the out lands of the clans. He was heir to the throne of said family, and would rise to power as long as he was either still single or was betrothed to a female of royalty. But when he was raped by German, rumors were spread by his attacker that he was secretly in a homosexual relationship with another tom, thus being disowned by his family. He was banished, and German went with him, attempting to absorb him into his own reign in the forest as German's successor until they both wound up in MoonClan.

2. The Swede is rather timid, perhaps due to his tragic encounter with German, and would likely never have made a good leader, even if his family had allowed him to stay. 

3. The Swede's name was based on the nickname of a character from Hell on Wheels named Thor Gunderson, aka The Swede. Of course, in that series, The Swede was evil and murdered many people in cold blood; very different from this Swede.

4. Swede was named Felix before he came to the clans, but because German had called him The Swede for so long, he adopted it as his own name, thus making himself essentially nameless. He found it fitting as he felt he had lost all of his identity to German's torture.
