Teaser trailer for my new book up above. Info not yet released.

Quick note: Please stop threatening to not read this story ever again if she doesn't end up with who you wanted her to.  It's pressuring me to change my ideals and mold to your visions. I don't want to lose readers because they are "dissatisfied" with my story ending. I know most of you aren't like that, but it's still aggravating.

Cara's POV:

"So she was abandoned by her parents?" I questioned Nicklaus now, feeling sorry for the young girl.

"Yeah. We found Rain when she was thirteen, it was obvious she'd been on her own for a while. It's a miracle she knew how old she was, she could barely even speak. So that's her story." Nicklaus sighed, shaking his head.

"I understand. Sorry for being judgmental of her earlier." I apologize, lowering my head in shame. I can't believe I jumped to conclusions like that.

"It's fine, really no problem. She likes you anyways so what's the point." He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the sides.

"Tell me about your first mate." I blurted, not knowing the words until they were out of my mouth.
His smile instantly faltered, a frown befitting his lips.

"Wh-what?" He questioned me, sounding saddened.

"Earlier, you mentioned me being your second mate, tell me about your first?" I asked him hesitantly, not really sure if I wanted the answer. He sucked in a breathe, hesitant to begin.

"You don't have to-"

"No you deserve to know." He cut in, sending me a mixed vibe.

"Her name was Delilah Westfield. She was... beautiful. So beautiful. Her father was the doctor here, in this packs territory. We were in love, when we were little she would follow me around everywhere, maybe it was the other way around. When we were both seventeen, it happened. We were on a run and we accidentally crashed into your father's patrol regiment. She begged them to let me go. They gave us a choice, her or me. She didn't even discuss it with me, they just dumped me off in a random forest and she payed for both are crimes." Nicklaus finished, his head hung down in sadness.

I wanted to comfort him, to tell him it was ok. But how could I when I was shaken up myself and everything was not ok? My father had done terrible things and I hadn't even had a single clue.

Instead I leaned forwards and gave him a quick hug, surprising both of both of us. He hugged me back, his body beginning to tremble. I didn't realize he was crying until his tears fell onto my lap.

"I'm worthless." He sobbed, breathing into my hair.

I pulled back and stared at him with wide eyes.

"No you ar-"

"Yes I am. It should have been me, I should have died. Why didn't I die?" Nicklaus sobbed, his head turned down in obvious shame.

I grabbed the back of his head with both hands and turned his chin up so he was looking at me. I stared him directly in his eyes and forced him to look at me.

"Hey, look at me. Look at me! Don't you ever say that. Don't even think it. You aren't worthless and you never will be. You're priceless, and if you keep talking like that you will have shamed Delilah's sacrifice. So don't you even think it!" I shouted, stroking the side of his slightly unshaven cheek.

Only then did I realize how close we were as his gaze shot down to my lips and back up again. My breathing became quicker and it felt as though my heart leapt into my throat. My own gaze went down to his perfect, plump, and perfectly sculpted lips. It was only a second before his lips were on mine, and a second before they were gone. His eyes widened, obviously feeling the same sparks and warmth that I had. That kiss sealed it, he was definitely my mate.

"Again." I whispered, his breath fanning across my face.

He was happy to oblige, pressing his soft lips on mine once again. All of my common sense was gone, locked away. He pulled back, eyes closed in bliss.

"Again." I whispered once more, this time leaning forward and moving my lips against his softly. As soon as the moment began it ended when my temporary bedroom door ripped open, revealing Rain.

"Hi bubba, what are you- oh. Hi." She smiled at me, even though it was obvious what her brother had been doing.

"What do you need Rain?" Nicklaus snapped, not happy about her interrupting.

As the two bickered I thought back to what had just happened between us. I hadn't even known him two days and already I was practically begging him to kiss me! Way to make yourself look bad Cara, really. However, I couldn't deny that it was an epic moment, my lips were still tingling in delight.

As the day flew by so did my hope of seeing Nicklaus again after his sister dragged him away. I felt like I needed to explain myself and apologize for what happened between us. But I didn't see him again for the rest of that day. I won't deny that I was attracted to him, but I still wasn't over Cole as much as I would like to be. I had known Cole for such a long time. I somehow knew that I had a crush on him deep down after all those years. It explained my hatred for Lily, the feeling I got when he shot me that dazzling smile, and the jealousy I felt when he was near other girls. I had excuses for everyone of those, not wanting to believe I had fallen for my best friend since birth. But it was the truth, I had loved Cole. I think I still did love Cole, thought my hatred for him outweighed that by about a million. I never understood how you could wish the best and the worst for someone at the same time, but I did.

I began drifting through my thoughts as  I watched the kids play around outside, their smiles contagious. Their laughs were like music, sweet and melodious. I used to hate kids, they seemed so annoying n my early teenage years. Always wanting to play around and never leaving you alone for one single second.

As I got older however I began to see them in a different light, almost like adorable little angels sent to bless our days with happiness.

Suddenly getting an idea, I walked inside and found a lady pack member. Asking her where I could find Nicklaus, she gave me an odd look and gave me directions to his room. I smiled and thanked her, already getting excited. I bet he'd love this idea!

When I reached the door I knocked first before entering with a wide smile on my face. What I saw then made my world come crashing down. There was Nicklaus, a petite blonde in his lap, and their lips were locking. I didn't understand why this hurt so much. He wasn't even mine to begin with, why was I getting so envious.

Suddenly realizing I was there, he sprang up pushing the blonde away from him.  She whined and reached for him, but he swatted her away.

"Cara!" Nicklaus shouted, looking extremely antsy.

"I uh- just wanted to know where the pack orphanage was. I planned -on uh- volunteering." I stated, suddenly going numb and blank. I felt so stupid!

"Cara I'm sorry, this isn't what it looks like. Well ok, yeah it is what it looks like but it isn't like that-"

"You don't have anything to apologize for. Who you see in your own time it none of my concern. I hardly even know you." I stated coldly, turning around and leaving the room.

SOOO... finally... an update! Enjoy! I tried making it longer than most of my previous chapters have been. NOT EDITED. :)
