"We have to tell them eventually," Hyunjin said.
Felix sighed and flipped the pancake in the pan, "I know, but it isn't easy. Most of they are still getting used to us living together and we've been living together for at least five months," he said.
"Felix, they are adults,"
Felix pouted and looked at Hyunjin. He knew that, but it didn't make it any easier.
"We've been engaged for a month almost two. The longer we wait the more upset they'll," Hyunjin reminded.
"Hyunjin, Yuqi still regularly brings up everything that happened in a way to remind me that I shouldn't date you. I tell her we are getting married? Forget it, the darts she threw at your picture will be aimed at you,"
Hyunjin winced a little, "Or maybe she'll be happy for us,"
Felix raised a brow, "Okay, let's see,"
He pulled his phone out and called Yuqi. It rang two times before she picked up.
"Are you finally over him?"
Hyunjin made a face and Felix laughed a little.
"I am right here Yuqi," Hyunjin said.
"Oh,"
"Uhm, I called cause I need to tell you something," Felix said.
"You're moving out?" She asked.
"Still here," Hyunjin stated.
Yuqi made a noise, "Fine, what do you need to tell me?"
"Hyunjin and I are getting married,"
Silence. Just pure silence.
"Yuqi?" Hyunjin said.
"You don't say anything. Are you serious? Like for real? Like you guys are actually getting married?" Yuqi questioned.
"Hyunjin proposed a month ago. I said yes,"
"Today?"
Felix pressed his lips together and took a breath, "No, a month ago. You are the first person we've told,"
More silence.
"After everything you are sure about marrying him?" Yuqi questioned.
"We are going to go to some couples therapy to help work through all those problems," Felix told her.
Yuqi sighed, "No, I mean right now in this moment are you sure about marrying Hyunjin, without having any couple's therapy. Just right now, are you sure? You have no reservations about it, right?" She asked seriously.
Felix blinked a couple times and glanced at Hyunjin. Did he have some reservations about marrying Hyunjin? Yes, how could he not, but everyone had those when they were getting married.
What if it didn't work out? What if Hyunjin drank the last of the juice and didn't get more? What if they fought? It was all things that every couple worried about.
Everything else outweighed it though.
Felix loves Hyunjin so much. He was ready to start a life with him.
"Yeah, I am sure. I want to marry Hyunjin," Felix said.
"Okay, just don't forget to tell everyone else,"
Right, they had to tell other people.
"Wait, can you tell the girls?" Felix asked.
"Mm, good luck," Yuqi said hanging up.
"That went surprisingly well,"
"Just remember she is giving a speech at our wedding,"
Hyunjin pursed his lips and nodded, of course she was.
Felix's phone began to ring, pulling both Hyunjin and Felix’s attentions. Felix grabbed his phone.
"I need to, uhm, take this... I'll be right back," Felix said, quickly leaving.
Hyunjin watched Felix leave, completely confused.
What was that about?
~
"He just left the room?"
"Yeah, and when he came back, he grabbed his stuff, gave me a kiss, then left." Hyunjin said.
Chan hummed, "At least he gave you a kiss?"
Hyunjin sighed, "It was just a little worrying,"
"It probably had something to do with one of his cases, don't worry too much," Chan told him.
The two sat in silence for a moment before Chan spoke up, "Where are the girls?"
"Uhm, Lucia is with Sophia and Hyejin is at ballet class," Hyunjin answered.
Chan nodded. Hyunjin couldn't get it out of his head though. What if it was more than just a case?
The front door unlocked and Felix walked in. His eyes were puffy and his nose was red. Hyunjin got up and quickly walked over to Felix.
"Angel, what happened?" Hyunjin questioned.
Felix took a breath.
"A few months ago, I hired a private investigator to see if she could find my parents. She did. They live in Seattle, they moved there two years ago,"
"Did you talk to them?"
The younger shook his head, "No, I couldn't. I can't... what would I say? Thanks for dumping me in the foster system?"
"You could ask them why," Hyunjin said softly.
Felix pursed his lips. He just needed time to think.
"I just, uhm, need a minute," Felix said, leaving down the hall.
Hyunjin sighed.
This could be a good or bad thing. Hyunjin just hoped that this was possibly a good thing.
