Misplaced
The cold and cruel wind blew along the icy land. It was barren from the war that took place. A lone figure walked up to the temple of the ice planet. Searching for something to take back as a trophy. He heard a cry and looked to the source. A baby was crying as he lay on a cold stone with a thin blanket over him. The people of this world had left him to die.
The man took pity and carefully picked up the babe. He stared at it with his one eye and watched as the baby smiled a little. As if hoping for something. Love. To be accepted.
The man continued to stare as the baby changed a little to look like his people. He looked around the room and knew he couldn't leave him. He wrapped him up in his cloak and returned home.
As he entered his castle his wife greeted him as their son followed her. The boy sucked on his thumb as he gripped his mother's skirts. She looked at him and knelt by his side, he was only one.
"Thor sweetie, don't do that." She whispered quietly. "You're a prince my dear and need to behave as such." She said. He just looked at her and sucked his thumb again. She sighed in slight irritation as she stood up. She looked at her husband as he walked in with a bundle.
"What have you found?" She asked as she furrowed her brow. He didn't respond but she caught a glimpse of the baby. "Odin..." she muttered and he looked to one of his men.
"Hand me the relic." He said seriously and took a cube like device. She watched as he headed down to his collection.
"Thor my love. Why don't you go play?" She suggested and he nodded. A maid followed the young prince to keep an eye on him. His mother quickly followed her husband down to his room of relics.
"Odin? Odin what of the child?" She asked as he put the device on a pedestal.
"What about him, Frigga?" He said as he looked at her. The baby whimpered and started to fuss in the man's arms. He was so small.
"He is just a baby and an innocent-"
"He is the son of my enemy and I will use him to bring peace between our worlds." He boomed as he looked at her. She stared at him then looked to the child as he started to cry.
"What will you do? Lock him away like your other relics?" She asked and walked over to him.
"Frigga-"
"Does he have a name?" She interrupted and the baby looked at her as he whimpered quietly.
"No. The frost giants left him to die and I saved him. He is Laufeys son and I'll use him to unite our kingdoms in peace." He said seriously. She stared at him and glanced at the child as he whimpered again and started to cry more. He frowned deeply and looked at the distressed baby.
"Don't lock him away. Let me care for him and raise him." She said and took the babe then held him close. "Shh shh shh little one." She whispered quietly.
"Don't get attached to him Frigga. He will be a weapon when he grows older." He said and headed to the stairs.
"He is just a babe." She said and glared at him a little. She looked at the child and kissed his forehead. "Let's get you something to eat love... what is your name?" she whispered.
"Name him what you want." Odin muttered as he walked up the stairs. He honestly didn't care, considering his plans. She watched him then slowly followed.
"I'll call you... Loki." She said and gently rubbed his cheek with her thumb. The baby stared at her and smiled a little as he felt the one thing he wanted from his people, but didn't receive.
To be accepted and loved.

Loki looked out the window as he watched his brother play. He stared at him as he pretended to fight with his friends. They called themselves the Warriors six, or something like that.
The youngest son sighed and stared at his books again. He looked around the room and leaned back in his chair to look for his mother. She kept telling him he needed to study, but he wanted to play with his brother. He bit his lip then quickly read the rest of his chapter. He smiled and jumped down then ran outside.
He watched them from a distance and slowly moved closer. They stopped and looked at him then just stared. Thor stopped wrestling with one of the boys as he looked up.
"Hey Loki." He grinned and got up then walked over. "Do you need help with something?" He asked always willing to be there for his baby brother.
"Oh... um... no I just thought... that maybe I... could play." He said shyly as he looked away from the other kids. The others glanced at Thor who stared at his younger brother for a while as he thought.
"Um... but Loki... you're not... uh... strong enough." He said trying to come up with a proper excuse. His brother huffed and narrowed his eyes as he folded his arms.
"Just let me try." He muttered as he stood taller. "You don't know if I can or can't do something unless I try." He explained. The warriors looked at Thor as if telling him not to let his brother play.
"Well... okay... I guess. But no crying!" He said seriously and his brother grinned then nodded quickly. He ran over to get a wooden sword like the others had. He came back and saw a few more children had joined as well.
He smiled as they made teams and started playing with each other, though he didn't like getting hit.
He practiced the few tricks his mother taught him but that only made some of the others mad. He eventually went and sat in a corner as he watched the children play around. He sighed quietly and made little birds and butterflies. He watched his brother then decided to try again and play. He figured if he was like him, then the others would actually play with him.
He managed to hit a few kids with his sword and smiled as he did what his brother did. Though the kids got annoyed and gained up on him. He made illusions of himself and squealed happily as he fooled them.
"Thor! Thor did you see!?" He asked as he looked at his brother who had crashed into a friend. He had tried to tackle his brothers illusion thinking it was him.
"Did you see? Did you see? I finally did it!" He squealed happily and the others glared at the small thin boy. Thor got up as he glared and walked over to him.
Loki grinned up at him thinking his brother would be proud that he managed to accomplish something difficult.
"Why do you have to be so annoying?" His older brother snapped as he clenched his fists at his side. The smaller boy's smile faded and he looked at how mad the others were.
"I... I was just playing... like you guys were..." He whispered and looked at the ground. Tears filled his eyes as he realized he messed up again. His brother was someone he didn't ever want to disappoint.
"Just go back to your books." Thor muttered bitterly and turned away as he walked off with his friends. Loki shook his head and sniffed quietly as he tried not to cry.
He didn't want to fall apart, and felt his brother told him not to cry because warriors never do. In reality Thor just hated to see his brother so sad. It made him feel guilty and tore at his heart.
"I'm sorry... I won't do it again..." Loki said as he looked up at him and fought back his shameful tears. "Please let me play with you..." He begged as he walked after him.
"I said go away!" His brother yelled in irritation and shoved him down. "You never listen to me!" He shouted. The thin small boy sniffed sadly and looked at the others then at his brother again.
"You going to cry little baby?" One asked and the others laughed a little, making Thor look down and off to the side in shame.
Though his brother thought he was ashamed of him. He got up and wiped his tears away before running off. He could never make his brother proud.
Frigga walked down the hallway as she looked for the little boy. She stopped suddenly as he ran inside, and passed her as he sobbed silently. She frowned and looked out to the courtyard where Thor stood with his friends. The other kids were laughing and walking off as they joked around.
Her son slowly looked at her with regret and sorrow in his eyes. She understood and gave him a slightly disappointed and hurt expression before going to find the youngest.
The mother wandered around and saw some butterflies flying out of the young ones bedroom. She smiled a little and walked to the door then peak inside.
Loki sniffed sadly as he sat in his closet making small illusions. She walked over and knelt just outside then knocked on the door.
"May I come in?" She asked and she heard him sniff again. He shook his head then thought for a moment before nodding a little. Frigga smiled slightly and opened the door some, knowing he was scared of the dark.
"What's wrong my little one?" She asked.
"Thor's mean... I tried playing with him and the others... but they didn't like my tricks. Then he got mad and told me to go away." He said then sobbed quietly. She stared at him then picked him up as she rocked him.
He hugged her tightly and kept crying as she sat on the bed and hummed softly. After he calmed down she looked at him and smiled a little.
"Do you feel better?" She asked quietly and he nodded a little. His eyes widened and he sat on the bed in front of her.
"I did it. Mom I made a twin of me." He grinned excitedly.
"Really?" She said as she smiled and he nodded before scrunched up his face.
He concentrated then made another one of him sitting on the floor. He squealed happily and jumped a little where he sat before the clone disappeared.
"I'm so proud of you." She said and he stopped suddenly. He looked up at her then smiled brightly.
"You are?" He whispered as if she was joking. It tore at her heart that no one appreciated him or encouraged him. Especially his father and brother who he looked up to the most.
"Yes Loki. I'm proud of you." She whispered again and gently kissed his forehead. He smiled and hugged her tightly as he squeezed his eyes shut.
"I want to always make you happy." He said as he looked up at her. "I promise to make you happy... always." He mumbled. She held him close and rested her chin on his head.
She hoped he would one day feel the love they had for him. That he wouldn't feel rejected.
