Chapter 2

They rushed into the school building, the halls crammed with humans and monsters, although still clearly divided: humans stayed in groups of humans, and vice versa was true for the monsters. The Dreemurrs were the only ones known to really mingle and get to know other humans, besides Papyrus, Sans' brother, of course, seeing how Frisk was adopted by Toriel and Asgore, tall goat monsters that once ruled the Underground together, then remarried once back on the surface.

Toriel Dreemurr is one of the teachers at the children's school. Every class now had both a monster and human teacher, unless specifically stated otherwise in their schedule. The whole school considered Kaya as human, although she was both human and monster, which was kept secret from everyone. So she was to attend those 'special' classes with only human teachers as she grew up. Since Cypress is a true monster, with not a hint of human found in his SOUL, he'll attend those classes with only monster teachers.

Kaya walked down the halls, her brother at her side. They had the same advisory teachers, Mr. Smith and Ms. Davis, and they are kind enough to let all their advisory students dump their stuff in their classroom. Mr. Smith is most likely the only human teacher to not act differently towards students, whether they be monster or human. The staff and principal are the same way, but other human teachers show their dislike to their monster students. Sometimes it's hard to tell; other times it is very obvious. And the monster teachers try, like all the other teachers, to be nice to all students.

The children walked into their advisory room, but not without quite a few whispered insults and murmurs as they went by, mostly aimed at Kaya. She had turned into her skeletal form, slightly nerved by their words, and her eyes were dark. One particularly stood out from the rest and was located in her advisory room:

"There's the freak!" A boy their age shouted. He was in their advisory and teased them at any chance he got during lunch and recess. Before and after school were rare occasions. "Who'd give you those boots? Your uncle, The Great Papyrus?" He mocked and laughed, with his squad laughing with him not a second later, and both monsters and humans who found it cruel enough to be funny laughed with them. The teachers were out of the room at this time, so they never heard what the boy had said.

Kaya and Cypress just walked toward their seats, and the boy tripped her on her way there.

"Oops," He said as innocently as he thought possible and looked away. Instantly a sneer was put on his face as Cypress shouted, "Kaya!" and ran to help her. Laughter erupted out of every mouth, it seemed. Her magical purple eye glowed in her left eye socket as her brother helped her up. She shrugged him off but he stayed by her desk until the bell sounded, and even then he was reluctant to move back to his own desk.

Nothing can change this, Kaya thought as she watched the teachers come into the class. And nothing has. By now the class had quieted down and was sitting peacefully, as if nothing had happened. Kaya herself had gone back to her human form. She was careful not to let the adults other than her family members know she had two forms; that there was more about her than she was ever willing to show.
