Faisley
{Note: The previous shot was titled Faasley which means Distances and this one is Faisley which means Decisions, that ain't a typo, just clarified}
The room was cold. He slowly closed the door behind him as he entered his isolated place, His room. Now left cold due to the open windows. He felt cold, but made no effort to close the windows. He was now used to the cold, though not immune to it.
Four months. It was a long time, atleast for him it was. He brought out a small antique artistically decorated box from his cupboard and settled on the floor against the bed facing the open window. The room was dimly lit instead of being ever brightly illuminated as it usually used to be. He kept the box on the floor before him and looked up at the night sky through the huge window. The moon was nowhere to be seen, perhaps even it was angry at the sky and had left it to be in darkness of its own. His eyes turned moist at the thought.
After a couple of minutes of silent gazing at the night sky he brought out a sheet from the box and held it close to himself. The letter holding her scent.
"Gauri" he whispered her name and it soon faded into the night sky, just like her.
What was special today?
He smiled ironically. Exactly an year back on the same date in the small town of Bareli, a short pretty bride had been running for her life and had crossed paths with him. That day a certain Mrs. Omkara Singh Oberoi had come into existence. That day he had married her! One year. It had been one year to that day. She had left him four months back. Left him? Left the family, would perhaps fit rightly. Because she had never really given herself...Correction... He had never given her the privilege to let him be hers, in anyway for that matter. Neither as a good friend that she was once nor as the wife she never was and still was.
He clearly remembered that day. There little argument and the repercussions. But it was the difference that brought the distance. Or possibly the decisions as well.
But, nevertheless the pain only grew. The darkness was unwilling to turn into morning.
Was he in a dark hole now?
Only the sudden separation had made him realise how close they were. Alas, now he was here and she... Somewhere faraway unknown to him and rest of the world. He now agonized about not speaking it out then. Sometimes silence failed. It failed miserably.
Tere mere darmiyaan hain baatein ankahi
Tu wahaan hai main yahaan
Kyun saath hum nahin
there are things unsaid between you are me,
you are there and I'm here.
Why aren't we together?
Decisions. The decisions they had taken only bought distance. He decided not to trust her, to not understand her. She decided to do everything to win him. He decided to remain silent when he had to speak out his Inhibitions. And she screamed her her out and still was inaudible to him.
While he decided to give her time, she decided to leave him.
"Yeh Kaise Faisley Liye Hum Ne
Bad Faasley Hi Faasley Reh Gaye! "
his words loomed a few seconds and disappeared somewhere far perhaps.
He wasn't right he knew, she wasn't wrong he knew. Still the hearts had been wronged. All that remained was memories. A few sad and a still fewer happy.
How he wished every single day that she would return just like she always used to.
faisley jo kiye
faasley hi mile
raahein judaa kyun ho gayi
Naa tu Galat, na main sahi
the decisions we took,
gave us distances only.
why did our paths get separated?
neither you are wrong, nor am I right.
He cried unable to hold the emotions within him with sanity. Hugging the letter he cried. Her absence leaving him incomplete. He dint want to stay all alone with himself. He felt terribly terrible.
le ja mujhe saath tere
mujhko na rehna saath mere
le ja mujhe...
take me with you,
I don't want to live with myself.
Take me..
He stared away at the window remembering that night.
"Did you see Gauri? " he asked for the fifth time in the past eight minutes, he was desperately looking for her. He thought he had to apologize for his behaviour. He was angry at the chaos the news reporters had caused and had screamed at her. Only, Rudra had made him realise that indirectly when the two were speaking out their problems.
Where could she be? He hadn't seen her anywhere in the past two hours and so had no one in the house.
He stood there his heart rate increasing where was she? As he was weighing the possible options there was a tap on his shoulder. He turned to find Shivaay.
In no time the members of the entire household had gathered in the hall. No one knew where Gauri was. On sat tensed his look saying he was defeated. Once again she had left because of him perhaps? Perhaps she in some trouble because of him again?
Anika came down the stairs. "Gauri upar bhi Nahi hai par... Yeh.. Letter..." She handed Shivaay the letter. Omkara's at once got up to look at it. It had Shivaay's name. Frowning he sat back.
Shivaay opened the letter and a pause followed.
"It's from Gauri! " he announced. Omkara's looked up raising his head from his palm, a little more disheartened than before.
Shivaay painfully read aloud.
I m sorry Bade Bhaiya. Hum Harharaaiye Kar Bina kisi ko battaye jaa rahe hain. Par yehi aap ab ke liye aur shaayad humare liye bhi behtar hai.
Hum iss parivaar ke hi laayak nahi hai. Hum bahut alag hai . Aur kaise bhi Rishtey ek tarfe nahi ho sakte. Humara iss parivaar ka hissa home ka koi haq nahi. Jab Omkara Ji humara rishta nahi maante toh, hum ap san ke saath kis haq se rahe.?

Khyala rahkiye ga, sab kaa..!
Aapki,
Gauri Kumari Sarma.
Everyone's eyes had tears. Shivaay had rested his palm on Omkara's shoulder who sat almost close to lifeless still. Shivaay dint Know whether he felt Omkara's pain and stood by him for that. Or the sudden pang of losing a little sister and feeling her pain made him take support from Omkara's shoulder. Harsh ironies of life!
Omkara's eyes were fixed at the door. Wishing that like always she would walk in or perhaps even run in calling out "Omkara Ji".
He sat silently his gaze fixed. The night had grown the members had slowly retired for their rooms. Only his brothers reamined by his side.
"Chalo O" said a disheartened Rudra, he still couldnt come in one with the fact that his Chulbul Bhaabhi has left, and tgis time forever.
Omkara dint bulge.
"She will come back Rudy, I know!"
Shivaay caressed Omkara's cheek, "Om chal!" He said holding his hand.
"No Shivaay. " he said adamantly his eyes moist.
Shivaay's frustration rose.
"Wo chali gayi hai phir nahi aayegi." He waved the letter in air showing him the proof.
It pained Om to see that letter. She hadnt lefr him any. Was he too bad?
He held the letter carefully. Shivaay on second thoughts let him keep it.
Ever since that day, Omkara was a changed man. His genuine smiles had disappeared altogether. All that remained were the fake smiles and painful smiles.
thodii si dooriyaan hain
thodii majbooriyaan hain
lekin hai jaanta mera dil
ho.. ik din toh aayega
jab tu laut aayega
tab phir muskuraayega mera dil
there are some distances,
some compulsions,
but my heart knows...
a day will come,
when you'd be back,
then my heart will smile again.
As he sat there still as time seemed to him. He wondered why did they ever come together if they had to be separated so miserably.
"Zindagi ke safar ke Humsafar hoon tum"
He chuckled mocking that fakir's words. He remembered it clearly.
"Humsafar?" then why were their roads different. Why did she have to come if she had to leave to never return.
His heart had known pain too well, but now pain knew his heart well.
sochta hoon yahee
Baithe baithe yoon hi
raahein judaa kyun ho gayi
na tu Galat, na main sahi
le ja mujhe saath tere
mujhko na rehna saath mere
Sitting just like that
I think,
why our paths got separated.
neither you are wrong, nor am I right.
Take me along with you..
I don't want to stay with myself
He shifted sides unable to sleep. Like always her memories would fill up his mind. He would hate himself only more. How could he be so wrong about her. Alas half the realizations dawned after she was long gone.
yaadon se ladh raha hoon
khud se jhaghadh raha hoon
aankhon mein neend hi nahi hai
I'm fighting memories,
Battling with myself,
There is no sleep in my eyes.
He felt miserable. The sleeplessness wasn't the reason. But because he realised too late that she had become his reason to live. How? Even he dint know. But now that she was gone his reason to live was gone. Life now seemed miserably long and painful. No laughs, no smile and no joy, just lost-ness, sadness and pain.
ho.. tujhse juda hue to
lagta aisa hai mujhko
duniya meri bikhar gayi hai
when I got separated from you,
It felt like
my world is shattered.
He sat up, peace was long lost. He closed his eyes. Her laughter ringing in his ears, immediately followed by her cries. "Gauri" he whispered wondering if her heart could hear his heart's cry.
Dono ka tha safar
manzilon pe aakar
raahein judaa kyun ho gayi
na tu ghalat, na main sahi
le ja mujhe saath tere
mujhko na rehna saath mere
this journey belonged to both of us,
and now on reaching the destination,
why have the paths become separated?
neither you are wrong, nor am I right.
Le Ja Mujhe...
He dint know for how long had he been sitting looking up at the ceiling fan, the sky outside the window was now painted purple awaiting the sun's appearance. Oh how he wished he was that purple sky and she the sun. At least they would meet so what if for a short span of time. He now sat up straight waiting to see the sunrise. Her thoughts still about her. As the first rays of sunlight painted the sky, a thought hit Omkara's mind. He scrambled out of bed and ran to his wardrobe. He saw the letter, now back in his hand. He smiled, and the smile grew wider as he hugged the letter. Perhaps, the only happy smile that had come to his face ever since she left. He know knew her answer as well.
He sent a servant down to call for the family.
As he walked down the stairs, he got looks of surprise from his family. He had seen those coming.
"O aap kahin jaa rahe ho?" enquired a baffled Rudra who hadn't seen his brother interested in nothing but being in his melancholy, seeing the huge backpack on his back.
"Om?" Shivaay looked up at him tensed already. Anything and everything about Om has him worked up, he was too scared for Omkara. But this time Shivaay's fears had been answered wrong. For once Om dont go back to being the old Om, resorting to wrongful means to seek relief from the pain. Probably ot was rightly said the pain given in love was too precious.
Om smiled and hugged his brothers, whispering "I m fine guys." knowing pretty well how to read what was written in their manner.
"I am going to find Gauri. " All looked at him bewildered.
"You know where she is?" asked Rudra shocked.
"No"
"Then where and whys suddenly? " asked Shivaay analysing Om's expressions.
"This letter "he said looking at the paper in his hand, "asked you guys not to look for me, But I Can Right? Look for her..." his voice sounded hopeful.
Rudra looked shocked.
"Where will you go looking for her, Om, she left four months back?" shot a concerned Jaanvi.
"I don't know maa, but I am sure once again my paths will lead me to her, like they had done before."
"What if...you don't find her,? spoke a frowning Rudra in a feeble voice.
"I wont come back until I find her."
Shivaay shot up a gaze at him.
Jaanvi sighed.
A stretched silence followed.
"Take Care and bringer home fast" spoke Jaanvi trying to sound as cheerful as she could. Omkara smiled hugging her back. She had seen her son die in pain every moment of just the thought of this decision had put up a smile on his face, she was sure his happiness and life lay in this decision of his.
"Tum ne Faisla Dil se kiya hai,
Aur dil ke faisley galat nahi hote."
"Mom, what are you saying, how can you let him go? Where will he go? How can you..."
"Rudra,...mujh pe bharosa nahi hai?" asked Omkara looking at him as he ruffled his hair.
"Hai." replied Rudra looking down.
"Won't you let me go and bring her back?" Omkara's voice shook with emotion.
While Shivaay gulped, his fingers rolled into a fist, looking at the door.
OmRu looked up at him.
"Bhaiyaa say something." pleaded a crying Rudra.
Om Smiled with his eyes moist and stood before Shivaay.
"Shivaay" he said placing his hand gently on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry." Shivaay spoke still not meeting Om's eyes.
Om looked at him slightly confused.
"If I wasn't bound to Gauris promise this day wouldn't have come."
Tears rolled down Omkara's cheeks and he took Shivaay in a hug.
"You realised this too late Omkara." Shivaay spoke into his ears, tears blurring his vision.
Om looked once again perplexed.
"I has understood Gauri's words back that day, but I wanted you to realise it. She bound all of us to the promise except you. Those words were written from her heart. Now that you know what your heart"
Omkara's respect for his brother had grew.
He looked at Rudra calling him for a final hug.
The three cried in the hug.
Shivaay and Rudra looked on while their Ranjhaa walked out, all set to find his Heer.
Omkara dint dare to look back, he dint want to be weak. He knew what lay ahead was the mightiest test of life. He had loved and now would readily give the test. He dint know where he would go, he dint know what he would do, he just knew what he wanted, HER.
As his steps carried him towards the exit, he stopped when he noticed the mighty statue of Shiva. His eyes looked up at the Lord.
sun mere khuda bas itni si meri duaa
lauta de humsafar mera
jaayega kuch nahi tera
tere hi dar pe hoon khadha
jaaun to jaaun main kahaan
taqdeer ko badal meri
mujhpe hoga karam tera...
listen O my God, it's my only wish,
return me my companion.
You'll lose nothing,
I stand at your door,
I have nowhere to go,
change my fate,
It'll be your mercy on me.
He saw the direction where the statue faced. Smiling he left in the direction, knowing she would have done exactly the same.
"Faisely Liye Thee,
Faasley Mile,
Phir Faisley Liye Hai,
Iss Baar Dil Se,
Kya Pata Faasley Mit Jaaye, Dilon Ke"
~Anni
A few decisions gave separation,
A few others brought closeness,
And there were still a few decisions that brought what no one knew, or would ever know.
P.S
So here I am with Omkara's POV.
It ends here. :)
