  I looked down at my bloody hands. It's not how much of a mess I made that bothered me. It's what I turned into and how I embraced whatever I turned into.
  Kagekao stepped toward me. "ES...are you ok?" He asked.
  I shook my head. "No. I-I need to head home." I whimpered. I was scared of what I became. I didn't pay any mind to the teenage girl I had scared or the small girl I had just noticed from behind the door. She must have seen what was going on. That must be Ashely.
  I walked out, somewhat shoving the little girl out of my way. I placed my mask back down on my face as Kagekao followed behind me.
  Once we got out of the house and into the forest, Kagekao spoke up. "Manami...are you ok?"
  "No. What...what am I? Was that me or was that someone taking over my body and turning me into something else?" I asked.
  "Both maybe?" Kagekao shrugged.
  "But none of my parents were monsters like I had just turned into." I sighed looking down.
  "I mean...your dad is a demon. Whether you believe he's human or not."
  "I know he's not human. Well, not anymore. My mom was human though. There is no way that I could turn into whatever I just turned into because of my parents."
  "What are you implying?" Kagekao asked.
  I wanted to tell him the truth. Those nightmares I've been having. Those are Zalgo's works. He's coming to finish what he started with my mom. I wanted to tell him that there is a possibility of Zalgo being the reason for this.
  "Nothing. I need to talk to my dad. Now." I demanded.
  "Manami what is going on?" Kagekao demanded.
  "I can't. I just...I was told to keep my mouth shut." I sighed.
  Kagekao grabbed my hand. "Look doll. I need to know. It's hurting you so I need to know."
  I stayed silent. I let out a small sigh. "Fine. It's Zalgo. Those dreams I've been having are because of him."
  Kagekao stopped. His grip on my hand tightened. He stayed silent.
  "Kagek-" before I could finish, Kagekao had pulled me into his embrace. His body temperature combining with mine. I felt his heart beat fast. His hands ran up and down my back. My arms, around his neck.
  "You are not aloud to be anywhere without me or at least someone. If Zalgo is targeting you, he could strike at any time."
  "Kao, how do you know this?" I asked.
  He looked away. "Don't ask questions. I just know. Come on. Let's get you home."
  I nod and slightly pull away from his body. I give him a quick kiss and hug him tight.
  He seemed a bit tense. Worried. Scared. Nervous. He held to me as if he was going to lose me.

  I can't let ES know about my past. Not like this. Not now. I don't think she would trust me anymore.
  Oh Kagekao~ is that a dust of love for Manami I see there?! I heard that voice ask. There's been this voice in my head ever since I became Manami's pet.
  What? No! I just want to protect her! I responded.
  Just accept it. You love her. You don't want to use her anymore. You don't even want to leave her. You said before that you were going to use her to get out of that mansion. Now, you don't even want to leave her side.
  Ok maybe I do like her for real?! So what?!! This won't change anything! I still want to protect her like all of her other friends!!
  Fine. Whatever you say. If you really want to protect her, protect her with your life. If you don't, you'll have an army of her friends and family, including me, coming to kick you butt if she gets hurt.
  She won't. Not on my watch.
  I noticed that I was still holding Manami in my arms. I sighed and let her go.
  She flashed me a smile and we began walking home. She wouldn't let go of my hand. Not for anything.
  Once we got to the mansion, she went down to her father's room. I went back up to her room.
  Her friends were talking downstairs. I heard some of their conversation.
  "Why do you think Manami has been so...distant?" Rowan asked.
  "She's probably in her period or something." Mike shrugged.
  "Or going through a phase." Electra added.
  "Nah. It can't be that. She comes out of her room to eat and see her dad. Other than that, nothing." Jouere said.
  "Do you think there is something bad going on under our noses?" Lila asked.
  "Maybe. But what? Is it that bad that we aren't allowed to know about it." Mike sighed.
  "Yeah. It can't be that bad." Rowan said getting a bit positive.
  Little do they know that something huge was about to go down. It will effect us all. The pages. The nightmares. The transformation. It will all come together and could end us all. As long as the others don't know, they won't be hurt by it.
