Chapter 2
Readers POV
"Now, hold still!" I scream in pain as the man in a white lab coat, with a mask covering his mouth and nose - like the type you would see a dentist wear, towered over me, injecting fluid into my eye. I kick and wriggle but it only tightens the restraints around my ankles and wrist, drawing blood as I continue to struggle as they cut into my tender flesh.
"Stop it! You're hurting me!!" I cry, but the man just chuckles. He didn't care about my pain. He found it amusing.
"Don't worry my little pet. Soon you won't be able to feel any pain at all!" He laughs menacingly, now jamming the needle into my other eye. I yell out in agony. Not only was this so utterly painful, but it was most likely going to become infected as he used the same needle for both eyes, without sterilising them. Blood trickles out of my sockets as he pulls the needle out. Seeming pleased with his work. He pulled away, staring into my eyes. He smiled, quickly grabbing a mirror and holding it in my face.
"See?! Your eyes are beautiful now my pet!" I was shocked. I soon ignored the pain when I saw what had happened to my eyes. They were now yellow and had slits for pupils, rather than orbs. I blink over and over. But my eyes couldn't take anymore blinking and sent out shooting pains. I cried out. When I tried to re open them, my eyes had returned to their original [e/c] colour.
"W-why are you doing this to m-me?! It's inhumane!" I was angry. Why was he doing this? Why did my parents abandon me here with this man? Do they know what's happening?
"Silence!" He shouted, slicing down my face with a scalpel that was placed on his tool tray. It made a small cut down my eye towards my cheek.
I whine in pain. I wanted to hold my face in my hands, but every movement made the restraints tighter. Causing more pain.
"I think that's enough for one day. Time for a nap!" He skips, running over to a switch. Placing his hand on it. I shake my head vigorously.
"No, no! Please no!!" I plead. A smirk forms on his face as he flips the switch. Suddenly electricity flows through my body. My body shakes up and down, side to side. My muscles contract and then start to become numb. I scream out in pain as the shocks become more violent. My screams continued until my vision turns blurry before rendering me unconscious.
My heart races as my eye lids shoot open. I flinch as the sunlight beams into my eyes, forcing me to slam them shut. My brain starts to function properly. I sigh in relief.
Just a dream.. just a dream. But why must I keep having these dreams? I thought to myself.
Even when I was trapped in the facility, I still had nightmares about the place. I was hoping that now that I've escaped, they would stop... I guess my body isn't used to being free yet.. I lift my hand, shading the sun from my face as I flutter my opens again. It was still very bright but I was able to bare it. I shift my body, sitting up. An aching sensation shoots through my spine as I arch forward.
"Gah!" I pant. I sit for a while, until the pain went away, before struggling to my feet. I was slow moving but it didn't matter. As long as there was no pain, I don't care how long I took. Once I was finally to my feet. I hugged my arms around my chest, each hand holding on to the opposite shoulder. I slowly take small steps forward, continuing on. I don't really know where I was going, but I had to get as far away as possible.
I gradually pick up the pace, now walking at a steady speed, until I trip over something. I hit the ground with a thud.
"Gah!" I slowly turn onto my back, looking at what my legs where resting on that had caused me to trip. It was a body. H-huh? A b-body!?.. I move onto my hands and knees and crawl over to the corpse, checking for any sign of movement of his chest, in the hope that maybe he was still alive. However, it was certain, he was dead. I scan my eyes up and down his body until my gaze meets his neck. I throw my body back, scrambling on my rear in terror. His throat had been ripped from his neck, even bits of bone were missing. I could see all inside, all the tubes. They would eventually lead down to the lungs and the heart. I flip back onto my knees as I gagged. I could feel vomit rising up into my mouth until I spew it out. I expected it to have no colour - just stomach acid, as I hadn't eaten anything. But I was shocked when it came out a pinky/red colour.
"W-what?" I shakily bring my hand to my mouth, wiping anyway any sick that dribbled down my chin. I inspected the vomit, looking closely, it contained weird chunks for meat. "D-d-don't say that I... don't say t-that it's..." I looked closer when something suddenly caught my eye, it stood out from all the other pieces. It wasn't pink, it was a white-ish colour. I prodded it with my finger. It was solid, hard as a rock, but in ways still brittle. Cringing at my own movements, I picked up the chunk, dusting off any sick residue that covered it. Once it was clear, I threw it back down, again, vomit came flooding out of my mouth. The piece I had picked up was bone. More meat chunks came tumbling out with the vomit.
"No, no! This can't be happening! Not again!" I panic. My eyes glance towards the throat-less man. I then realised what I had done. It had happened again, I lost control. I did this to him. I tore his own throat right out of his neck. I shuffled back, leaning against a tree. I arched my legs so my knees where at my chest and I started to rock back and forth as tears streamed down my face. At first I couldn't remember anything that happened. I could only remember up the the part where I had been pinned to the ground, then all went dark after that. But now seeing that man and looking at what came up out of my stomach. It was clear what happened. It happened.. I had shape shifted again. I always hated when that happened. I lose control and go completely wild. I despised the men who did this to me. Who made me like this. I wasn't born a shapeshifter, I was born a human, well.. at least I thought I was. My parents always seemed to be scared of me... but why?
~*Flash back - Mothers POV*~
"Mummy mummy! Look what I drew for you!" [Name] runs over to me, holding out a piece of paper.
"Do you like it mummy?! I done it just for you!" She jumps on the spot, trying to grab my attention as i stood at the kitchen counter pouring a cup of tea. I chuckle turning around to face her, crouching down to her level, looking at the picture.
"That's beautiful! Why don't you go show daddy?" I smiled.
"But I made it for you!" She replies.
"I know you did. But I'm sure daddy would like to see what you done!"
"You don't like it?!"
"No no, of course I like it! I love it-"
"YOU DONT LIKE IT!" She yells in my face. I stand up straight. backing away.
"[Name]! Don't talk to me like that!"
"YOU DONT LIKE MY PICTURE! I DREW THIS FOR YOU!" Tears stream down her cheeks as she concentrated
hard on my face. She was angry and I was scared. But my fear soon turned to horror when a knife hovered in front of me. I back away as much as possible but the knife just came closer. [Name] didn't move. She just stood there glaring at me as I was stopped in my tracks once I had reached a corner.
"Adam!" I yell. Trying to get the attention of my husband, [Names] farther.
"Adam! Please God Adam help!" I plead. I hear loud footsteps of a person running upstairs, making their way to me. Adam turns the corner in a fright, looking at me as a knife hovered in front of me. [Name] just standing there in rage. The knife grew closer as it came into contact with my neck, pressing hard but not drawing blood just yet.
"[Name]! That's enough!" He shouts, running behind her and pulling her away. As soon as her concentration drops, so does the knife. Falling to the floor with the clang. I gasp, reaching for my neck with my hands.
"[Name]! What do you think you were doing!" Adam snaps as his daughter.
"Mummy didn't like my drawing! I drew it for her but she-"
"That's enough [Name]! Go upstairs to your room! I'll see to you later!" [Name] pouts, running up to her room.
Adam looks over to me, worry filled on his eyes.
"It's okay love. You're safe now." He brings me close into a warm embrace.
"I thought she was actually going to do it this time. I thought she was going to kill me." I cry into his shoulder.
"I can't take this any more Adam. It's not safe having her here.. she's not.. she can't be... she can't be human.. no human is able to do that? There must be something!" I move my head away, starring into my husbands eyes. Until he has a sudden realisation. Or more of an idea. And I knew exactly what he was thinking.
~*Back to the now -
Readers POV*~
That night, my mother came in and cuddled me on my bed. I felt a small pinch in my neck, but it didn't take long for my body to go limp as I fell unconscious. When I woke, I was in a room, strapped to a bed. And that's where this all started. Where the experiments started. Where I became a monster! Tears stream down my face and I rest my fore head on my knees.
"You're not a monster." I hear a voice speak. My head shoots up, looking around for something or someone so I could pinpoint who, or what spoke out to me. I struggled to my feet, my legs shaking as I was still weak from changing. It always took the energy and strength out of me.
"W-who said t-that?!" I stutter. Partly out of fear, partly out of weakness.
"You're no monster." The voice spoke again.
"Who are you! Show yourself!" I yell when suddenly my hands shoot up, clasping around my ears as a ringing, static sound pierces my ear drums. The sound was agonisingly painful. I scream, falling to my knees. My vision starts to fade and become blurred when a figure appears in front of me.. haven't I seen this figure before? I fall unconscious.
~**~
When I wake, I am no longer outside in the wood, but in a room. Tied to a bed. Chains around my ankles.
No.. no!! Not again!! NOT AGAIN!! I lash around, desperately trying to break free. Oh god please! Somebody help me! My brain overloaded with pleads until someone spoke to me, as if reading my mind.
"Be quiet child. You will not be harmed." It spoke on a calm yet stern voice.
"Let me go! Remove the chains! Please!"
"As you wish" The voice spoke when the chains suddenly snapped off from around my ankle. I didn't think twice about it, I jumped up and ran out of the room, down a hall and to the left. I could see what looked like a front door. I bolted towards it when suddenly I'm pulled back. Someone grabbed onto my arm, twisting it behind my back, pulling me towards them, placing a sharp object to my neck with their other hand.
"Oh dear.. Looks like our prisoner is trying to escape." The voice tuts. I couldn't see the face but I could tell it was a male by the tone of voice and the grip on my wrist.
"Let me go!" I cry, wriggling, trying to free myself from his grasp.
"Ah-ah-ah. No trying to escape. You might get hurt." The object around my neck is pressed harder against my flesh. Small ounces of pain started to throb around the area.
"Jeff. Stop being an ass" another voice spoke.
The man who held me let go with a huff.
"You're no fun."
As soon as I was released I run to the door, frantically trying to open it but it was locked. I hear a chuckle come from behind me.
"It's locked. Do you really think we would risk leaving it open?" The voice chuckles again. I turn around and my eyes widen in shock. The man - no, thing I was looking at, couldn't possibly be human! He wore a white hoodie, smothered in blood stains. He had black jeans on with shoulder length hair. Which was also pitch black. He was missing eye lids, preventing him from blinking and his eyebrows had been burnt off. He had a wide smile that grew up his face. He had carved one on, in guessing with the knife he held in his hand. He couldn't be human! Surely no one would survive something like that? Their body would go into shock over the pain! I was snapped out of my thoughts when a voice spoke from my left.
"Relax. Jeff can't harm you. We're on strict orders not to kill you." I look over in the direction of the voice. Another figure sat on the sofa. I'm guessing it was another man, judging by his tone of voice. He also wore a hoodie, but his was a dark grey-black colour. He had dark jeans on and a dark blue mask that covered his face. Small bits of brown hair poked out from his hood. I looked closer at his image. He had black ooze dripping from where his eyes should be. I lean back in fear and confusion. Why did they look like this?!
"Heh. She seems more scared at your appearance than mine Jack." The man in the white blood stained hoodie chuckled.
"Piss off Jeff." Spat the masked man.
So, the one with the smile is Jeff. And the one with the mask is Jack?
"That is correct child." My eyes shot open when a tall figure appeared in front me of. He wore a black suit and his face was completely featureless. No nose, no eyes, no mouth, no ears. Just empty and white. He had long slender tentacles slithering from out of his back. There must have been at least 5, maybe more.
"H-h-how did y-" I stutter.
"I read your mind." He replied, cutting off my question.
"Y-your can read minds? But h-how is that p-possible?" I ask. But this seemed to only anger 'Jeff'.
"Stop stuttering already! You're beginning to sound like Toby! It's pissing me off!" He yells. I cower by the door, hugging my self.
"Why am I hear? Who are you people?!" I say with more confidence, worried Jeff may lash out at me if I stutter again.
"Forgive me. I am Slender Man and these are just two of my many proxies: Eyeless Jack, and Jeff the Killer." He gestures to them both. Fear fills my body and I start to shake as I hear their full names.
"P-proxies?" I question.
"We are a group of-" His sentence was cut short when a girl with brown flowing hair storms in the room. She had one beautiful green eye, and the other was in the shape of a clock. If it was possible, my eyes widened ever further.
"Toby?! Where are you?!" She calls. Frustration in her voice.
"This is Clockwork." Slender man again gestures. She didn't pay attention to him but continued look around to room.
"Oi, Jack, Jeff? Have either of you seen-"
"No CW, we haven't seen Toby." Jack mumbled as if used to her constant moaning. She tsked and storms out the room again.
"Take a seat [Name]. Soon the other proxies will arrive and I will then explain to you what this is all about." Everything he said blanked my mind apart from one thing. How did he know my name?
"How did you know my-" I was interrupted by Jeff as he walked over to what appeared to be a dining table.
"He's Slender for fuck sake. He knows everything." He was not happy. I could tell Jeff was agitated by my presence.
I felt a hand place on my shoulder as I am pushed in the direction of the table that Jeff and now Jack were sitting at. I slowly made my way over, I could see Jeff holding a knife on his hand, stoking the blade. I thought best to stay away from him. I went to the other side of the table and sat next to Jack. He didn't protest. In fact he didn't even look at me. I sighed shutting my eyes. When I re opened them, I jolt in shock as the table was now full of people. All different with their own characteristics. Every eye on the room was on me. I sank in my chair, only to be yanked up by my collar to be sat up straight.
"It's rude to slouch!" Spat a voice to my right. I glance over to see another masked figure. But his mask wasn't like Jacks. This one was just plane white.
