CHAPTER ONE:  pilot

•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

KAEDEN ASHTON HAD GOTTEN INTO THE MEDICAL BUSINESS BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SAVE PEOPLE. Like he was supposed to when a particular alien showed in on his planet and wiped the winter population out. Although, he doubted he was the last one from his plant, he also doubted that anyone else had been insane enough to think that Earth was a safe choice.

Kaeden was aware that there were three other aliens, from another planet. Unlike himself, who had came from a planet called: Idakus, he was aware that Maxwell Evans, Isobel Evans and Michael Guerin were all from Oasis. He just never told them that he was aware of that.

That there was a lot that the three didn't know, that Kaeden barely knew himself. He had been younger than them, but stayed in his pod for the same amount of time.

Something has gone wrong. He was supposed to be able to leave the second his pod landed on earth. But he couldn't. Instead, he was frozen in time, hidden in a cave.

The four had been next to each other, but, Kaeden woke up first. All the others saw, was a form running away.

Kaeden had powers, just as the Evans twins and Michael (which, technically makes them triples, or, that's how everyone saw it. Obviously, no one knew who their biological parents are.)

Only his was different. He didn't know why they had lost their memories of their planet.  He had assumed it had something to do with what happened on their planet. That they had blocked it all.

Kaeden huffed, dramatically sitting down in the empty chair in Kyle's office. He laughed lightly when seeing the joke gift he has given the other a year ago. Kaeden had said that Kyle was always overworking and stressed. Kyle denied in saying that he was stressed.

Kaeden had bright him a small gift, supposedly to relieve stress. He had no clue of it worked or if Kyle actually used it. It sat in Kyle's desk.

"Jesus," Kyle yelped when seeing Kaeden, not expecting anyone in his office.

Which had only cause Kaeden to laugh loudly.

"Don't you have a job to do?" Kyle questioned.

"I am not needed at the moment."

"And that means you can make a mess in my office?"

"What mess?" Kaeden asked as Kyle gave him a look.

"How are you a paramedic and so messy and unorganized?"

"What does me being a paramedic have to do with the way I organize?"

"With the way you don't organize," Kyle says in a correcting tone.

Kaeden didn't think that there was anything to correct. "Okay, I came here to give you your dinner and this is the treatment that I receive?"

"I'm sorry."

"No you're not. But here, since I have no other friends at this hospital and already ate," Kaeden gestured to the bag on Kyle's desk. "you can have it."

"What are you doing here anyway?" Kyle asked. "Not that you can't stop by, but you rarely do." Kyle explains, opening the bag. "And, if this is another bribe to go to the club with you, you have to stop picking the nights I work."

"No. It's not that. I'm just, unlike you, a good friend."

"It's a mystery as to why you don't have more friends," he sarcastically spoke.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"I can't wait for the end of this shift!" Kaeden dramatically throws his head back, jumping when he heard sudden footsteps behind him.

"Kaeden!" A familiar voice yelled out.

The man turned, only to see Liz Ortecho standing there.

"Liz, I didn't realize you were back in town," the paramedic speaks, as the Latina pulls him into a hug.  "It's lovely to see you, but, why are you here? You need to see someone?"

"Yeah. Kyle. I need a CT can done."

"You hit your head? Or did someone hit you in the head?"

"I think I got shot."
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"So, Wyatt Long shot up the CrashDown," Kaeden has his arms crossed, standing next to Kyle.  "I swear the next time I see him-"

"You have to stop getting into fights with him. And everyone else," Kyle says.

"I don't fight them while I'm on the clock, or even in my uniform. So, it's not like I'm putting my job on the line."

"Only your life. Which, is much more important than getting into a fight with a racist asshole."

"That's debatable," Kaeden muttered. "Well, there's no bullet. Obviously. What had her so convinced that she had been shot?"
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"Hey, Liz," Kaeden called out, following after the Latina. "I just wanted to check with you, do you recall anything from last night? Who you were with? Did you see the car?"

"I didn't see whose car it was. And, I was with Max." the woman told him.

Kaeden forced a smile. "Be careful, Liz. Tell your father if he ever needs any help, you or he can call me."

Liz thanked him before she walked down the hall. Kaeden sighed when she was no longer in earshot. What the fuck did you do, Max?
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden picked up the phone call, from Kyle, searching for Max.   "Hey, Kyle. What's up?"

"How is it, that you invite me out, and then don't show up?" Kyle's voice came through the phone.

Kaeden sighed, closing his eyes. "Shit. Sorry, Kyle. I'll be there in twenty minutes. Or I'll try to be there."
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"What the hell are you doing?" Kaeden questioned, walking into Max's house. Isobel was there.

"Kaeden, you can't just barge into my house at anytime-" Max began, sighing when the other walked in.

"You healed Liz?" He questioned, making the two freeze in their place. "And don't fucking bother with the lies."

"Kaeden-" Max started, going to lie.

Kaeden brought up a hand, a book flying off of the shelve and into his extended hand.  He turned to the book, raising an eyebrow at the title. It was a collection of Shakespeare.  He looked over at the two aliens. "I know that you two and Michael crash here in 1977, because so did I."

"Oh my god," Isobel speaks, a quick flash of a memory, a small boy, running away.

"I never planned on telling you guys," Kaeden shrugged. "But, then, you went and healed Liz. She came to the hospital, asked for Kyle to make sure there wasn't a bullet in her body."

"What?" Isobel questioned.

Max hung his head.

"Obviously, Kyle and I told her there as nothing and that it just from the shock and terror she had felt in that moment. But, you should really talk to her. Now, I need to leave."

Isobel followed him out. "Wait, Kaeden. Kaeden! You can't just walk into Max's house and tell us that you-"

"Listen, Isobel, how about you and I talk later, okay? I'll answer whatever questions it is, that you have." He removed his phone from his pocket, turning his phone to hand it to her. "Type in your number and I'll answer whatever it is you want to question. But, I've got to meet Kyle at the Pony."

"Wait, Kaeden-"

"Isobel, either type your phone number in, or I can answer your questions the next time I see you."

Isobel quickly typed in her number.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

When he had arrived at the Pony, Kyle was in his car, seemingly lost within his own mind. Kaeden knocked on the window, a bright smile greeting Kyle when he had turned, jumping at the sudden sound. When he had seen it was only Kaeden, he relaxed.

"You looked five second away from having a heart attack," Kaeden smiles as Kyle gets out of the car.

"How are you always late?" Kyle questions.

"Why because," Kaeden begins to mock Kyle. "as a paramedic I should have punctuality' ?"

"I do not sound like that," Kyle says. "And, yea, exactly that reason."

Kaeden turns, tilting his head as he examined Kyle. Before he actually had gotten a look at him. He had felt an annoying sensation of jealousy. "I'm late five minutes and you decide to hook up in a parking lot of a bar? In your car?"

Kyle fixed his clothes, running a hand through his hair.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"Hey, are you sure that you should be drinking that much?" Kyle questioned, worrying eyeing the other man.

Kaeden grinned back at him, leaning in slightly to his space. He would regret it in the morning, thinking  the move had made it obvious about his feelings. If he remembered it. "You should really leave the doctor worry back in the hospital."

"This is more like a friend worry," Kyle replied.
"I'll drive-"

"Kaeden!" A drunken voice yelled loudly, sounding happy. That has caused for the two to turn, Kyle furrowed his eyebrows, barely recognizing the man. He knew his name was Chase Young, and the he had attended the same high school, that he was an alcoholic.

"Chase," Kaeden says, smiling.

Chase had pulled the chair closer to Kaeden, plopping down in the seat before he shifted his body to Kaeden. He had reached out, placing a hand onto the paramedic's  shoulder. "Kaeden, it's been a while."

"We hung out last week," Kaeden says before he downs the rest of his drink.

"A week is a long time to go without seeing you."

Kyle raised an eyebrow, looking back and forth at the two, confused. He awkwardly coughed.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden, apparently, had forgotten that he does work tomorrow. Because he was drunk. And Kyle had needed to get the other out of here.

"Okay, I think it's time for us to leave," Kyle faked a smile, placing his hands on Kaeden's shoulders, he pulled Kaeden off the stool. Chase was acting odd, he'd lean into Kaeden, flirting with him. Of course, it didn't seem that Kaeden had noticed.

"Bye, so, Kaeden-" Chase says, having not even spared a glance at Kyle.

"Kaeden," Kyle calls, trying to grab the paramedic's attention.

Which works, as Kaeden tilted his head back, smiling at Kyle. "Kyle," he mocked the other's serious tone.

"Let's go," Kyle tells the drunken man.

"Oh, see you, Chase," Kaeden turns to smile at Chase.

Kyle had called Kaeden an Uber, sighing when he had realized that he would have to pick up his car and Kaeden's.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

"Come on, Kaeden, where is your key?" Kyle questioned, after having helped the other to his door step. "Why did you get so drunk?"

Kaeden turned to the other, smiling.
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden groaned, muttering under his breathe. Kyle had to pick him up before driving back to the Pony, so that Kaeden could get his car. But, now he was at the hospital.

"So, who was that, last night?" Kyle questioned.

Kaeden raised an eyebrow. "You know Chase. He was in our class."

"Who is he to you? It didn't seem like the last time you saw him was in high school."

Kaeden looks at Kyle, a quick glance from the corners of his eyes. There is something off about the way Kyle speaks, and his body language. Kaeden just can't figure out about it.

"Yeah, we bumped into each other last year, he had left after high school. Returned last year," Kaeden explained.

"There's something you should know, Kaeden," Kyle says, tone serious.

Kaeden hums a questioning tone, flipping through a chart.

"If you ever see a hand print-"

Immediately, much to Kaeden's terror, his head snaps up. That was a suspicious action. Kaeden lectured to himself.

"come to me. Or Manes." Kyle finished.

Kaeden tilted his head, faking confusion. How Kyle knew, Kaeden had no clue. Clearly, Kyle had seen the handprint that Max left on Liz. But how?
•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden was following after Kyle, in hopes of getting more answers. Only, he wasn't sure how to question the other without the possibility of Kyle discovering that Kaeden himself was an alien.

"Master Sergeant Manes," Kyle says.

And for various reasons, Kaeden turned to face the opposing way.  He held a clipboard in his hands, only a few pages on it. He had finished reading the report, and simply needed to put it into the patient's file.

"Kyle. Got your message," Manes greeted, shaking the younger man's hand.

"You didn't have to come all the way here," Kyle replied.

"I don't like phones."

Because you're a paranoid bastard.  Kaeden thinks to himself.

"Right," Kyle nods his head, unsure. "Look, um..when my dad was dying, he was barely coherent towards the end there, but he would repeat this crazy mantra."

It had been difficult to hear the ending, as Kyle began to bring his voice low. Kaeden walked towards the wall, head down and looking at the pages in front of him as he did.  He flipped to the next page.

"If you see the handprint, go to Manes," Kyle repeats the phrase.

Kaeden had gotten as close to the two as he could while staying behind the wall. he heard Manes move closer but was unable to hear the man's words.

"With all due respect, sir, I'm gonna need a few answers first."

Kaeden hit his head against the wall but didn't make a sound.

•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden knew that they left but was unable to follow them. After all, even if he did, Manes would most likely catch him. So, he decided to go to the high school reunion. Isabella should be there, possibly Max. And he needed to talk to them. And Michael, but he would have to track Michael down another time.

•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

Kaeden searched around for Isobel and Max.  he had spotted Isobel dancing, and Michael sitting down. he approached the blond-haired girl first.  "And why is a woman as beautiful as you, dancing all alone?"

"I am married, you know,"  Isobel speaks.

"Yeah, but i need to talk to you. The only way you ever knowledge other people is if they complement you."

"That is -'

"Or offend you. Either way, get Max and Michael. Or tell them later."

"Well, here's Max, we just need to find Michael."

Max had walked in with Liz.

"shit."

•]••'º'•» ĔЖŤŔĂŤĔŔŔĔŚŤŔĨĂĹ «•'º'••[•

When Liz went to dance with Maria, both Isobel and Kaeden approached Max.

"So, you told her," Isobel speaks first.

"I did. She wasn't scared. She wasn't angry. She didn't run away. We can trust her."

"Not so sure about that," Kaeden speaks this time.

"Oh, but we can trust you?" Max asked.

Kaeden looked at him, slightly hurt. "You can't be mad at me for never telling you.  I didn't have many friends, and although, yes, I knew about the three of you, and you didn't know about me, I figured, to only tell you if it was necessary.  Like now, because, not only did Liz go to the hospital and tell Kyle. But, Kyle's father, apparently, while dying spoke a mantra. 'If you see the hand print, go to Manes'  And he did."

"You listened to their conversation? or were you a part of it?" Max questioned.

"I listened to it. And, Kyle told me before he spoke to Manes.  We will be hunted now, and possibly killed."

Max went to reply, only for Liz to drag him to dance with her.
