Fluency // Maybe an idea

"Impress me," Kol's mentor risked his reputation and career on a failing student in that moment. A failing student that couldn't grasp the basics of cyromancy required to graduate, a failing student that despite his advanced studies into pyromancy and creation magic, based within spontaneity and trust of one's own self, two schools known to be impossible to master and harder to learn, wouldn't be allowed to cast another spell. With the heavy regulation of mages and their innate abilities, a bright mind would be wasted if Full Warlock Kepler didn't bend the rules for his apprentice.

Kol took this moment to heart, excitement lighting up on his face. He wasn't one to conceal his mercurial nature, hindering him in cryomancy, but bringing a simple brightness to his own life. Fumbling over his own quick fingers, he brought forth a dragon. Impressive, if it hadn't been a flame trick students practiced as soon as they grasped the basics of pyromancy.

Basics give into advanced maneuvers, as is true with Kol's piddly dragon. Growing and curling around the training room, it burned nothing it touched. Fire casted for warmth only was a step up, and harder to control. But Kepler couldn't let an apprentice cheat with a minor advancement to a technique. Given how many manifests were written against magic and those cursed with it, he couldn't allow that danger.

Kol kept his eyes on Full Warlock Kepler, waiting for that moment of awe he was determined to get out of the stone-faced mentor. The false dragon, gave out a roar, blending pario magic and pyromancy, what Kepler knew his strengths were. Kol quickly rolled forwards, coming out of it with a full suit of blue armor, flickering and as alive as the dragon.

In private, Kol often entertained the idea of entertaining others. He often admired gladiators and the tales people in the market had about their fights in the rings. Dragons were a thing of the past, but he could still feel that raw spirit, wanted to convey it to others. With that in mind, he raised his false shield, tilting it downwards to deflect the spray of harmless fire to the floor. Courage gave the audience life, even in his confinement as a mage thus lack of opportunities to go out to the plays he knew this.

A wide slash drove the monster back, completely uninjured. Sword burning brightly-

An impressive blizzard brought the scene to an end. Even though it meant passing, Kol couldn't hide his disappointment.

"It gets better, I'll have you know." He complained, making his way towards Full Warlock Kepler.

Used to his apprentice's moods, Kepler sighed, "I hope so, you'll need to make up for your lack of cyromancy in your assignment."

Used again to Kol's moods, Kepler braced himself for the hug that almost barreled him down. Perhaps it was his age or the fact that Kol hadn't done that in at least eleven years, but Kepler felt the struggle to keep upright.

"I ship out tomorrow, correct? As I was a bit late in passing my fulls?" Kol, spoke quickly, leading his mentor out of the training room. To keep a simple conversation, Kepler had to follow his excited trek all the way back to his dorm.

"Correct, I will try to persuade the council to give you an assignment, or at the very least, area with your strength." Kepler held a hand out, signaling Kol to slow down before his excitement got the best of him once again, "They may not understand. The Council doesn't have mages on it for good reason."

"You may have forgotten in your lifetime learning here," Kepler continued, taking a seat on Kol's small bed, the same he's had ever since he arrived as a boy, "but mages are not normal people. We are the result of a curse for man's involvement with sin, we carry their burdens."

Kol had heard this repeatedly in his studies, old legends tell of the mother, the fi
