Episode 7 part 3 Blacksheep
The picture is Guy.
They were all sitting around the table Michiko trying to be the mediator between the two boys, but it didn't seem to be helping. "Since basic problem solving methods don't seem to be working Im going to have to ask. I understand if it's something too personal to share, but I need to know how this all started."
Both boys shrunk back seeming to close off, which was completely opposite from their previous snapping back and forth.
Guy glanced to his cousin before sighing and looking back at the ground and crossing his arms. "Kei contacted the gang we used to be part of."
"G-gang?" Kaiya stated fearfully.
"You what?!" Sie hissed causing both the cousins to flinch at his uncharacteristically angry voice. "You two promised me, and Hiro, that you wouldn't get involved in that kind of stuff anymore."
"I know, but she called me originally I just wanted to make sure nothing was majorly wrong." Kei explained. "Guy was the one who continued to talk with her."
"What?" Sie snapped his head in the other's direction.
"Well what do you expect when you call my ex-girlfriend, and then tell me about it?" He defended.
Kei clicked his teeth. "I told you she was fine, and there was no use in contacting her, or any of them again, and yet you almost let yourself get roped back in by her manipulation and lies-"
"Shut up! She wasn't like the others!" Guy yelled fire in his eyes.
"Wasn't like the others? Wasn't like the others?" Kei asked the question twice making it sound like it was the most shocking thing he'd heard. "Guy She was worse. The others were bad enough, but they didn't break your heart, thy didn't manipulate you into doing their dirty work, they didn't almost directly get you killed for their own selfish reasons!" He paused to take a few breaths. "Guy we left because of her. Because of what she did to you. She tried to ruin you, almost did it too. And now she wants to do it again. She's toxic!"
Guy flinched seeming to actually be affected by his cousin's words that time.
"Toxic, That's a little harsh..." Kenya muttered.
Kei calmed down his voice softening. "Look Guy... I know you cared about her, but you have to understand that she doesn't feel the same. We've built a good life for us here getting away from not only her, but all the other shit we used to have to deal with just to survive. So I'm sorry if you got upset with me because you may have figured that I wasn't being aware of your feelings toward someone we both used to care for. I do understand that, but I don't want to see our life here ruined, and I don't want to see you hurt again."
Guy sat there silently staring at the table top.
Michiko, Who was surprisingly taking the situation very maturely, looked between them. "Guy... I believe Kei just apologized to you. What do you have to say to that?"
Guy let out a breath still seeming a little resistant. "You're right I shouldn't have talked to her in the first place... I won't do it again. It was selfish. I don't want to ruin our life here either. It's the happiest I've ever been... I shouldn't give that up for someone who doesn't really care about me. so I'm sorry."
Atsuto smiled happily clapping his hands together once. "Yay! You guys made up. Now go on give each other a hug."
"Don't you think that's a bit excessive?" Setsuna asked form his nonchalant position in the corner of the booth.
But his comment was ignored because the cousins were already in the process of standing and giving each other a quick embrace. They smiled at each other and then looked to Sie.
Kei was the one to speak. "And sorry Sie for breaking our promise..."
Sie was calm and simply answered. "It's fine, but don't let it happen again."
"Yes sir!" They chanted in unison
"Y-you're not gonna tell Hiro about this right?" Guy then asked nervously.
"I don't see any point this time." Sie responded.
Both of them sighed in relief.
Michiko found herself wondering why Guy would be so nervous about Hiro finding out, but then thought back on the situation Hiro explained to her.
"Guy and Kei are cousins, they moved here a few years ago. They came from a neighborhood where you had to act tough in order to survive. When Sie befriended and introduced them to me, even I was skeptical, but there is something about Sie that just brings out the best in people. He redeemed them."
She smiled at the thought, starting to understand just how close Hiro and the three of them really were.
Sie had indeed redeemed them... and gave them a place to belong as well...
None of them want anything to ruin that, or come between them.
"Well since it seems as though everything worked out fine, I think our job here is done." Michiko stood happily offering her hand to Sie. "It was a pleasure."
Sie looked to her hand curiously for a moment before smiling. "Yeah..." he then shook it. "Thanks Michiko."

After the problem was resolved it was later then they expected so they all started making their way home.
"Those three are quite... interesting." Kenya stated.
"I like them!" Atsuto chirped.
"You like everyone..." Setsuna muttered in his usual bad attitude.
"I mean they seem nice..." Kaiya stated. "Not at all what I'd expect from former gang members."
"A perfect example of not judging a book by its cover." Michiko stated a content smile still on her face.
The group fell into a comfortable silence until they reached the station and said their goodbyes to Kenya, Kaiya, and Atsuto.
"C'mon bookworm I'll walk you home." Setsuna offered walking ahead.
She hurried to meet his pace, giving him a sideways glance. "Thank you for coming between the two of them back there. I don't think they would've listened to me if you hadn't stepped in."
"Whatever... I just didn't want you getting in the middle of a dog fight." He replied carelessly.
"Why do you call them that?" Michiko asked trying to hide the bitterness of her tone. "Just because they respect Hiro a great deal doesn't mean they're his dogs."
He looked down at her surprised by her getting defensive. "What does it matter to you?" He asked with a glare. "Why do you all of a sudden care about those three idiots. You're the one who was always calling them miscreants."
"Yes, well that was before Hiro told me their story." She explained.
"Hiro?" He suddenly stopped walking making her stop as well. "When the hell did you talk to him?" That time Setsuna seemed genuinely angry, and it surprised the smaller girl.
"Why do you care?" She snapped back.
"I don't..." he grumbled starting to walk again.
She watched him go for a few seconds before catching up again. "Why do you hate them so much? Granted Hiro isn't exactly kind to you, but why hate the others?"
"I don't hate any of them." He replied.
"Really? You have a funny way of showing it." She replied skeptically.
He didn't respond and they walked in awkward silence for a bit.
"And for your information I talked to Hiro when he walked me home from the store one night. He helped me carry my bags, that's it." She didn't understand her need to explain this to him, but did it anyway.
His shoulders tensed less, and he seemed to like her response.
There was another short silence.
"Those guys really are close to each other aren't they?" Michiko tried to pick up conversation as they turned onto her street.
"Almost like a family..." He muttered so quietly she almost didn't catch it.
This response surprised her. And she couldn't help but wonder... is that why Setsuna acted like he disliked them so much? Could it be that he was jealous...? Jealous that despite their differences in background they were all so close...? Jealous that they were like a family with no judgment and no expectations...?
She couldn't help but think back on his reaction when she had helped him after his face was cut by the glass of the broken window, or how he responded so angrily when Kenya threatened to leave the club. Or how Mamoru was the only every around... where were Setsuna's parents?
It made her heart tug a bit, and she couldn't help but feel bad for Setsuna.
Was he maybe just looking for exactly what Guy and Kei had found? A place to belong...
She was so lost in though she would have walked right past her house if he didn't stop next to her. Surprised she shook her head and opened the gate stepping onto her yard and turning to look to him. Only to see him walking away.
"Setsuna!" Her own voice surprised her as she stopped him.
He turned around expectantly.
Michiko let a small smile tug at her lips. "I'll see you tomorrow."
He widened his eyes in slight surprise watching her a moment before looking away. "See you tomorrow bookworm." He then walked away without another word.
