Episode 3 part 1: when we all come together

Hey everyone episode 3 yay! I hope you are still enjoying the story.

It was after-school on a day the club wasn't supposed to meet, but because of the principle's new rules they had to go out together. So naturally they went to a sandwich shop for something to eat. They were all sitting around the table. Michiko, to no ones surprise, was reading a book with one hand and eating with the other. Kaiya was tapping away at the keys of her pink laptop as she talked to her internet friends. Kenya was doing some early assignment in his notebook. Kurami quietly sat there ignoring everyone, Setsuna trying to annoy Michiko, but failing.

Atsuto frowned slightly before letting his usual smile spread across his face. "Come on you guys are so boooring~! We're supposed to talk you know."

"As much as I hate to admit it." Setsuna sighed. "Sunshine's right. The principle said he'd be asking us questions and all about each other, so as much as we all hate it, we have to get to know each other at least a little. So would you all stop having no lives for one minuet."

"I don't see you making much of an effort either." Michiko grunted in defeat as she closed her book laying it on the table. "The only thing I know about you is that you like extra pepperoni on your sandwich."

"Awe, how cute. The little bookworm was paying attention to my order." He smirked his voice taking a teasing tone. "You planning for the future or something?"

"Get over yourself. The only reason I knew was because you stood right next to me, genius." She crossed her arms looking away from him. "Liked I'd ever be interested in getting to know such a vile person like you."

Kenya couldn't help but stifle a laugh at her insult.

"Shut it brainiac, go back to the only thing your good at, being invisible." Setsuna growled at him.

"Hey-" Kenya was about to retaliate but was interrupted.

"Enough. You guys are pissing me off." Kurami said sternly. "No one wants to be here, so just deal with it."

"I don't mind being here, do you Kaiya?" Atsuto asked casually.

"Um.." she trailed off shyly looking up from her screen. "No I suppose I don't mind..."

"Probably because she has no friends." A sharp female voice came from behind. They turned to see a girl wearing a matching school uniform approach their table. She let out an uptight laugh as she jokingly pat Kaiya on her head, causing the smaller girl to curl up and cringe in slight fear under her touch. I have to say I'm surprised to see little Kaiya out and about with people. She's such a loner at school, right babe?"

"What? Oh yeah sure..." Another student agreed even though he was much more fixated on reading the menu above the counter.

Kenya recognized the girl and her boyfriend. He was the lead jock in the group of guys that always liked to mess with him. He shrunk back trying to become as small and hidden as possible.

Setsuna noticed this from across the table before he responded to the girl rudely. "Sorry, who are you?"

"Oh so sorry I forgot to introduce myself." She let out another high and mighty laugh. "The names Tsuma, second year, you may have seen me in some commercials on tv. My family is famous after all."

"Never heard of you." Setsuna responded with a slight glare. He hated people like her. Well he hated all people, but those who acted like they were better than everyone else, and rode on their parent's coattails just to look good in life, bothered him the most.

"Hm well I'm surprised to say the least." She smiled smugly seeming to not care about his coldness towards her. "Then again if you have the time to hang out with such a reject you must be too underprivileged to even think about owning something like a television or a Mobil device, I'm guessing. I'm sorry I really do feel bad for you, how tragic."

"Well I feel bad for you considering you're nothing but a major bitch." Michiko spoke up slightly surprising them all. "Someone really ought to teach you some manners. You can't just come up to a group of strangers, or acquaintances for that matter, and start to make a scene, let alone so rudely assume things about people without reason."

"Gee what a Geek." Tsuma's boyfriend muttered as he came up behind her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Could you have used anymore words in that sentence?"

"Well excuse me for having such a good vocabulary." She retaliated. "Maybe if you would spend some time reading an actual book every once in a while, instead of mindlessly kicking around a ball all day, you would actually be able to come up with a good comeback one day, but that may be asking too much."

"Ooh and she's got a bit of a spice. You remind me of someone else I know." He chuckled sarcastically, and then let his eyes land on Kenya.

Before he could say something Setsuna stood up. "This cream-puff and monkey-boy are pissing me off, come on, I have somewhere else we can go."

They all seemed to agree, or just followed because they pretty much had to, and got to their feet. Kaiya's legs shaking as she timidly walked past her bully without a word. The rest of the group followed behind silently.

"Hey Kenya!" The jock called after him before sneering. "Haven't seen you in a few days, can't wait until we can 'catch up' again."

Kenya kept his eyes glued to the floor as they left through the exit.

-&-

"Where are we going?" Michiko asked with a slight huff as they made their way through the city walkways.

"Don't worry about it." Setsuna said nonchalantly, putting his hands inside the pockets of his leather jacket as he let his feet carry him through the familiar rout.

Kurami and Atsuto followed close behind them.

"So obnoxiously loud..." Kurami muttered about the pair in front.

"At least they're talking." Atsuto pointed out. He lifted one finger into the air and smiled happily. "People can only learn to settle their difference if they are willing to talk about them!"

"You are like a fortune cookie. Always giving overly hopeful or happy advise. It's annoying." She replied emotionlessly.

"Do you find everything annoying?" He asked.

"Yes." She replied without hesitation.

Sweat dropped from his head as he slouched slightly. "So I've noticed..."

Behind them Kenya walked, silently following along. He notice Kaiya trailing a bit behind, so he slowed to walk with her. "You okay?"

She slowly let her eyes trail up from their gaze on the pavement to look at him, her hand still gripping the purple strap of her bag. "Yeah... I'll be fine. After all I'm used to it. Thanks for the concern though." She didn't at all seem convincing, but then just walked faster to catch up with the group.

"Here we are." Setsuna said as they arrived at the slightly worn looking building. He led them up the metal stairs and opened the big metal door as he entered.

They followed him into the place. It had a faint smell of rubber and some sort of powder as they entered. They came out of the small entry way into a fairly sized lobby looking room. There were cushioned benches, tables, and a red front counter with a locked cash register, and small metal bell resting on top. The floor was mostly cement, and there were two vending machines on the far wall. One for cold drinks, and one with a various array of snacks.

"Setsuna is that you?" They heard a voice call, and looked to see a younger man walking down a set of stairs from behind the counter. "If it is could you-" he stopped when he saw them all. "Eh? is this the club you were telling me about?"

"Hey Mamoru." Setsuna greeted carelessly throwing his bag onto one of the benches. "And yeah, this is Michiko, Kaiya, Atsuto, Kurami, and Kenya."

Mamoru was a tall guy with black hair that was styled slightly upward. He wore a leather jacket like Setsuna accept his had a lot more random chains or buttons from various bands on it. He was fairly well built, and had one ear pierced.

He immediately caught shy little Kaiya's eye.

"It's a pleasure to meet you sir." All but Kurami said with a bow.

"Likewise, but please don't be so formal, I may be an adult, but I hate being treated like an old man. I'm only 24 after all." He laughed a boisterous laugh. "You can all stick with calling me Mamoru. Welcome to the sports center!"

"Sports center?" Michiko asked.

"Yeah, but I have to say it ain't much." He replied leaning against the front counter on his elbow. "But we got bowling and batting cages, plus a court big enough for volleyball or badminton downstairs. But hey it still brings in a few customers, and keeps a roof over our head. Right Setsuna?"

"I guess." He replied from his already laid back position.

"You and Setsuna live here?" Michiko asked.

"Yup there's a small kitchen and a few rooms upstairs." Mamoru explained. "Setsuna's my cousin, he's been living here with me since summer time."

"Interesting..." Mickiko thought aloud, pondering about the fact as to where Setsuna's parents may be.

After a while the club all sat down trying to chat about themselves, but failing completely. They were starting to realize just how hard these new rules were going to be to follow...

Eventually it was getting too late so they all had to leave.

"They all seem pretty cool." Mamoru said to Setsuna after they left.

"Yeah I don't know about that." He replied before grabbing his bag and starting to walk toward the stairs. "I'm not that hungry so don't worry about dinner."

"Setsuna." His older cousin addressed him.

Setsuna stopped on the bottom stair waiting. "Hm?"

Mamoru let a rarely sad smile tug at his lips. His voice was quieter than usual. "You do know eventually you can start trusting people again right?"

Setsuna stood frozen in his spot for a few seconds, doing nothing but making contact with the he floorboards, before he walked up the stairs without another word.

Hey guys! Woah Setsuna has feelings, and some sort of dark past?! 😱 XD surprising right? Jk... you probably figured. I hope you are liking this so far. Vote and comment, bye!
